Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa - Honolulu

Amazing! Beautiful hotel and location. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!!Great location in Waikiki. Close enough to clubs, Diamond Head etc!! Loved it!!

Stayed in a Partial Ocean View Room in the Tower building. Room was very comfortableand clean. Tea facilities were not good and there are no treats to go with your tea or coffee. Woken one morning at 7.45am as they were cleaning the room next door and doing maintenance. No apologies.

Beautiful hotel. Stayed on the City View Side. Bathroom small and noise level very high from not having room sound proofing. Staff somewhat friendly. I would stay again, but not on the City View Side of the hotel.

This is the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in, the beds are perfection and I never wanted to leave! I highly recommend the spa and drinks at the beach bar. I just wish I could have done the historic tour of hotel because Im sure it would be very interesting but we weren't there long enough. Also, the breakfast at the restaurant is really great. […] The hotel is smack bang in the middle of everything you need, couldn't ask for a more perfect location, lots of restaurants and shops on your doorstep. We loved it, great hotel right next to Dukes our favorite hang out for Mai Tai's. Right on the beach, beautiful. Will be back again.

We are very familiar with Hawaii and Wailiki Beach, having stayed in the Royal Hawaiian 2 other times. The Moana Surfrider offered a larger, nicer room with a better view of Diamond Head at almost $200 less per night. I love both places, but this place is a good deal plus all the quaint historic stuff as well.

Great location, services, setting and charn. However, rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment - old bathrooms, and paper thin walls, which kept us awake all (5) nights of our stay, really did spoil our vacation. Otherwise, hotel was faultless.

When it comes to hotels I consider myself "fussy". Moana surfrider did not dissappoint! So happy with this hotel and wouldnt even consider staying anywhere else upon my next visit. I hope this helps the fussy ones like me. Enjoy your stay! TR

Our stay once again at the Moana Surfrider, was near perfect. Great food, excellant location, good service, beautiful architecture for the "lady" of hotels, and right where the action is!! The beach front is somewhat shallow but hopefully with the land and sand preservation some of the depth of 1985 can be regained. The swimming pool is on the small […] side, and the hotel lobbey tends to be somewhat busy and noisy. A great hotel and location for the active tourist and especially the shopper. VL. Les mer

Beautiful old hotel lobby. The public rooms were lovely if a bit bustling. We checked in to an ocean front room in the older part of the hotel. The room was quite small, the bathroom was tiny and old, and there was no lanai. We asked if we could move to a room with a lanai and they gave us another room in the same building. The carpets were filthy, […] the bathroom was gross, there were no ammenities ie. shampoo, lotion, shower caps. The vanity was plastic and looked like it was installed in 1972. We were terribly disappointed to find the hotel in no way met the standards I would expect from a Westin. We checked out the next morning. Les mer

Fantastic service, situated right on the beach (with it's own roped off section of beach), gorgeous beach side bar, & pool. The buffet breakfast offered was delicious with a wide variety of food, including Japanese offerings. The afternoon tea was impressive, all whilst sitting in idyllic surroundings. Our room was HUGE with the most luxurious bathroom […] we'd had during our entire month overseas. Only complaint was the noise - our room was in the original building which has floorboards & (I'm guessing) not much insulation. Even so, I would stay here again in a heartbeat, just requesting a room in the tower. Also recommend having a treatment in the spa - you get access to their whirlpool & saunas which overlook the beach. A fantastic stay at a fantastic hotel. Les mer

the hotel was beautiful! We stayed in one of the cheapest rooms, which was comfy but very small. The service was excellent, though the cleaning staff start early and make a lot of noise. I'm not sure I would stay there again as I don't think the price we paid was worth it.

This is our 2nd time here. This time we were upgraded to a Deluxe Room in the Diamond Wing. Lovely spacious room with incredible ocean views. Would fall asleep to the sound of waves each night. Room very clean and bed very very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. A lovely hotel with a touch of grandeur. It was lovely to sit on the rocking […] chairs along the front verandah. Pool area a bit plain. Private beach area is great but disappointing that you have to pay to book a seat under an umbrella on top of the daily resort fee. Les mer

We stayed here in a Partial Ocean View room in the Tower - was clean, surprisingly spacious and the view was better than expected. Perfect location to shops and restaurants. Plus the free parking (part of resort fee) was awesome considering the location. Staff were friendly and helpful as you would expect. Dont expect to find much sand out the front […] to lay out. But thats just Waikiki, not the hotels fault. Afternoon drinks under the big tree in the courtyard are a must. Definitely the place to stay if you want Waikiki beachfront. Les mer

Great hotel and location. Rooms were clean & we were very happy to be in the ocean front diamond head wing. Only negative comment was the time it took to get a table for breakfast each morning. No problem before 8 am but other times we waited for 5 to 15 minutes. All staff were very helpful. I have stayed in Waikiki numerous times and at numerous hotels. I can say that this was the best hotel that I have stayed at! Everything and I mean everything the Moana Surfrider has to offer will meet your every needs. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in at any hotel. The location of the hotel is close proximity to everything! Right on the […] ocean, the huge courtyard including a pool off to 1 side and the beach bar with numerous tables and chairs is the perfect setting while sipping on your favorite beverage with excellent views of the ocean wherever you sit. This hotel is in the perfect position

I must say that the most and only disappointing part of this hotel stay was the service level of the concierge. I had a few encounters with different staff, and most of them left impressions that they were clueless what the hospitably mind. We arrived they did not give my kids a lae. We paid for a premier ocean tower room we only got 6th floor with an average view. I would not stay here again! The room was very clean however!! I

Our family had an excellent time at this hotel with a magnificent history. The hotel is centrally located and the service is of top quality. My daughter particularly loved the historic tour of the place. I did however find the surcharge of $20 dollars a day for parking, internet, etc a bit much. You get charged this regardless if you have a vehicle […] or not. The parking was difficult to find a space on most occasions. We have just returned from a two week vacation on Hawaii and spent our last night in this hotel. To be honest it was really a very disappointing experience. We had stayed at two lovely hotels prior to this one in Waikiki (Hilton) and one in Maui (Fairmont). both were terrific and met our needs exactly. However the last night we chose to stay on the […] beach at Moana Surfrider. We knew the room would be small for two adults and two kids but really it was very disappointing all around. the beach and pool areas are tiny and crowded and there was little chance of us securing a sun bed or umbrella. We felt the pool area was tired and dirty and the smell from pigeons roaming the area and bar was disgusting. nothing seemed to be particulalry clean and the staff at the pool were less than attentive. We also felt the room was hot, and bedding small. We had a room with two doubles as we had had in other hotels but these seemed particularly small. The only good thing about this hotel was the location. it would be suitable for a couple of single travellers looking to be right in the action but there are better options if travelling with kids or for those who like a bit more for their money. Overall not very impressed and would rather stay a short walk away at the Hilton. Les mer

The hotel met our expectations which were high. Location, design and it's place in Waikiki history all make for a great experience. Right on the beach, and a good pool as well. Room was spacious enough for a week with 2 young kids included. One watch out is to avoid rooms too close to the main avenue at the front as the noise in the evening with music […] etc does'nt stop until after midnite. Never Evera again. My room wasnt clean. The Safe didnt work. There werd hairstylist Al over in my bathroom. This is not what i expected from a 4star Hotel. You better stau at a hostel. You dring the Day you can Hang at any Hotel realer at waikiki. So can have a Hang stöhne Moana surfender, which has a nice Architektur like back in the dayz and can Safe […] Money a Lot,! Les mer

My family has been staying at the Moana Surfrider since the very earl 60's. I can't believe that when the new owners renovated the hotel they replaced the original eastern white oak flooring with a hardwood veneer! yuck!!!!!

A beautiful hotel, and the beds really are heavenly - so comfortable. Our room was on the 20th floor of the Tower wing, facing Diamond Head and Waikiki beach. A truly great view. The breakfast on the terrace is also excellent.

My husband and I had traveled to Hawaii many times in the past, but this hotel exceeded all of our expectations. From the beauty, the history, the location and the staff-top to bottom it was great! We had paid extra for a deluxe ocean front room and it was worth it. Our view was of Waikiki beach, surfers, Diamond Head and gorgeous sunsets. The room […] was clean and comfortable. We left our lanai door cracked open a tad at night to sleep with the sound of the waves! Connecting to the internet was easy and included in our room rate, as was the delicious breakfast each morning on the veranda. The staff was friendly and accomodating and very quick to resolve any issues we had, which were few.If we needed more towels-they were there quickly. Umbrellas to walk to dinner in the rain? No problem. Dinner reservations? The concierge was very helpful with them as well as maps and directions for anywhere we wanted to go. The location is wonderful as it is right iin the middle of waikiki beach-and walking to dinner, shows and shopping each night was a breeze. I would highly recommend the Moana Surfrider to anyone staying on Waikiki beach-and would defintely stay there again myself. Sometimes you just get what you pay for! Les mer

The Diamond Wing ocean front room offered an awesome view of the ocean, which we thought was worth the price alone. The Banyan Courtyard bar was fantastic, and the drinks were wonderful, made with fresh juices. I loved the free morning yoga, too. The hotel's common areas are beautiful, as is the beach. Only the actual room was surprisingly shabby, […] but the balcony views and other perks made up for the bad bathroom and outdated room furniture. Les mer

We loved our stay at the Moana Surfrider. Staying in the Diamond Wing, we had incredible views of the ocean. The hotel's common areas were spectacular: we loved the rocking chairs in front and the lounge area in back. The Banyan Tree Courtyard is beautiful. Staying in this hotel is not really about the room, as it could use updating. The bathroom was […] very small and the fixtures and details seemed cheap. For example, the bathtub walls aren't tiled, it is lined with one big plastic piece. The bed is comfortable and has a down comforter, but the furnishings do not seem up to Westin standards . . . more like Holiday Inn standards. Why does a first class Hotel try to add -on sneaky charges?? Westin charged $20 a day for use of the Gym (no towels and TV's on machines didnt work. Poor gym facility. Use of interent.-We had wireless devices which didn't work in the room and you could only access in the foyer. Several other illusory 'benefits'. Great location - a historical hotel that definitely exudes grace and timelessness. All shared areas are immaculate and impressive. All staff members are professional and prompt. The rooms are very very very average. Very small and very basic. Beyond the signature bedding (that Westin hotels are famous for and we as tired travellers are grateful for), […] there was little else in the room to comment on (other than a cramped bathroom with a dated and tired shower and a very noisy and ineffecient air conditioner unit). Given the cost per night, I do not think the location and facade of this hotel are enough to justify another stay should we return. But in stating this - there was nothing offensive with the hotel. We had two connecting rooms (w/ double door separation) between the four of us in the Tower wing with partial ocean view. The balcony faced another hotel but you could see a bit of Waikiki beach and the ocean to the left, which is what we expected from "partial ocean view." I always check the bedding and bathroom thoroughly and this hotel passed the […] test with flying colors. The only odd thing was that the closet, luggage rack, the safe and robes were all found inside the bathroom. I didn't put my laptop in the safe or hang my clothes as I was concerned about condensation, etc. The street is buzzing with people and street performers. They can be loud and it continues until pretty late at night. And our room didn't even face the street. I have high noise tolerance during sleep but it may bother some people. It has direct beach access and close to virtually all activity pickup services. You can't beat the location despite the noise level. Les mer

Rooms extremely small. VERY POOR maid service. Bathroom floor not cleaned at all...twice we returned back to the hotel and room was never cleaned after being gone all day. Had to call late in the evening to get it done...one time I just said forget it. Was explained as a "new hire" issue. Called the manager the second time and all he said was "sorry". […] Beach very small, feel like your in an animal pen when you rent a beach chair for $40.00 in a small, over crowded fenced in area, pool area also very crowded due to it's limited size. The hotel is fantastic -- location, facilities, service. But our room was extremely small. The balcony was probably as big as the room. There is clearly a big variation in room sizes so if that is an issue, check it out beforehand.

The Moana Surfrider is a classy place with tons of amenities and staff that treats you like royalty. From the second we arrived, we felt pampered and welcomed. The Beach Bar offered nightly live entertainment and great drinks. If you're going to pay $10 for a cocktail on the beach, you might as well do it at the Beach Bar who make them stiff and ice […] cold. During our stay, we needed a roll-away bed for my younger sister who ended up staying with us and they brought up the most comfortable looking twin size bed (not a folding cot) with extra bedding, robe, slippers and toiletries. You definitely get what you pay for on Waikiki beach, so if you're looking for a wonderful night's stay, spend the extra scratch and you'll be happier for it. Les mer

This hotel is the grandest on the Waikiki strip. It has an old, luxurious feel to it, elegant and graceful without being over the top or overwhelming. The outdoor Banyan tree courtyard that looks out over the beach is a wonderful place to have a peaceful breakfast or a drink during more active hours. Room titles can be decieving...be sure to confirm EVERYTHING you want in the room...not just the size bed and smoking preference, e.g., do you want a real balcony that you can actually walk out on or just a railing outside a window. Do you want a tub AND a shower or is just a shower satisfactory. The lobby is beautiful...the location convenient...food […] and beverage very nice. The courtyard is "tired" and needs cleaning/maintainence of railings and flower beds. All in all a nice place...,just needs some attention. Les mer

The Moana Surfrider was exceptionally beautiful and exquisite! My fiance and I were on our honeymoon and found it the perfect place for romance, fun and breathtaking views. The resort has its own private access to the beach and is just steps away from their pool. Trust me when I say, you will not be disappointed in the views from this hotel and how […] pretty the lobby, restaurants and pool area are. The only complaint I had and it wasn't a big one..was I had hoped the hotel rooms were a bit more up-to-date and prettier...especially because the entire hotel itself was so beautiful. Nonetheless, with how much the hotel had to offer and its location, you will spend little time in your room. Still the bed was extremely comfortable, room equipped with a flat screen tv and had a fantastic view of Waikiki. Best location and would love to stay here again!!! Les mer
