I have stayed at Harpenden House Hotel on several occasions recently. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and I think they know me personally. It is not particularly cheap, but the hotel does not really have much competition in Harpenden. The location is good, as it is close to the main high street and also the train station. The breakfast […] selection is good, with a choice of fruits, continental meats, cheeses, croissants, danish pastries and also a cooked breakfast. Great hotel with good service. Sadly we were only there for one night and didn't get to really appreciate the calmness of the building. Excellent breakfast but thought it odd that we would have to pay a £3.50 premium for breakfast if not ordered in advance. Trains running through the night on the mainline give a regular rumble but not the hotels fault. […] A fine hotel! Les mer

An excellent hotel in central Harpenden. Very clean room. Superb breakfast, service was good. Hotel decor very good and nicely festive. Would stay again.

Super room allocated which accommodated our needs. Lovely wedding reception and all the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Good customer service. Walked into Harpenden (only a couple of minutes) and very pleasant town centre on Remembrance Sunday - good service.

Disappointing - have stayed before, but this time very let down. Bathroom COLD, nowhere to dry towels and it smelt damp. Room not serviced on last night, no internet service in room, light bulbs missing. BUT staff are always friendly and helpful. There is nowhere else to stay in Harpenden, so they have the monopoly

Thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay. The staff were friendly but not matey, efficient and helpful. Very good food in the restaurant and the bar, the restaurant menu had something for everyone from haute cuisine to (excellent) fish and chips.

It's just average, with a train track,at the back. Staff are nice, breakfast good, good location and harpenden is lovely. Hotel not poor, but not great either.

Stayed here as we were attending a wedding. Really impressed with the hotel and would definately stay here again if we were visiting Harpenden.

Our stay was generally comfortable, but the restaurant was closed due to weddings on Friday and Saturday. This meant we had to go out into Harpenden for a meal, just try parking in Harpenden!

Alittle drab, needs some tlc. Also they need to replenish your tea/coffee etc everyday! Beds were very uncomfortable. Bar staff were very friendly and attentive. Perfect location!

Great location for local bars and restaurants. Even though during our stay there was a wedding in the hotel, it didn't affect us in any way - didn't hear any noise late at night.

Although in a good position and rated 4 star, we were disappointed and found the hotel was overwhelmed and barely able to cope with the demands of guests. To be fair it was very busy, but there were insufficient staff to cope, particularly at breakfast on the Sunday.

Fawlty Towers Staff were pleasant but really did lack experoience. it seemed. Also no breakfast was included in the deal.

We very much enjoyed our visit to Harpenden and the Harpenden House Hotel was a great historic place to stay. We felt welcomed, and our four night stay went very well. No complaints at all.

stopped for a two night weekend break, hotel clean and well looked after, location brilliant, breakfast good and plenty of choice, the only downside was, the store room was next to ours, and we were awakened early morning when the cleaning staff used it. otherwise would recommend this hotel

The meal we had was divine, really impressive. The dining room was a little empty which is never a good sign, however my doubts were sent by the three fantastic courses that graced my plate. The rooms were very nice for what you pay for, even if there were a few cobwebs by the curtains. The only bad bit was the pillows were awful and you didn't get […] enough UHT milk for more than one cup each. Other than those rather minor problems it was lovely. Les mer

Upon arrival I was put in the absolute furthest room in the hotel which involved climbing many stairs with no offer of assistance with my luggage. The room then turned out to be right next to a suburban train track which rattled the room every five minutes. After request, I was however immediately moved to another room. The rooms are nice and clean […] although a bit dark. The breakfast is terrible and overpriced. The bar and lounge area had nice service however. Surrounding town is lovely! Les mer
