Hotellet lå svært sentralt, bare 150 meter fra Sheaperds Bush stasjonen, som ligger på Central line (den røde undergrunnen). Ved stasjonen ligger også Westfield, et stort, nytt handlesenter. Jeg hadde bestillt rom med to enkelsenger og da de ikke hadde det, fikk jeg oppgradering til et rom med kingsize seng. Rommet var stort og flott, nydelige badehåndklær og badekåper.

Vi bodde 3 personer på et rom - ground floor. Helt fint, rent og hyggelig frokost. Pent nabolag og 5 min. til Glouchester Rd - Circle Line.

Hadde med ungene, og satte derfor pris på at rommet hadde to adskilte soverom, med en stor flatskjerm på hvert rom. Stille og rolig nabolag, og kort vei til T-bane. Trivelige restauranter i nærheten med god mat både til frokost og middag.

"Not impressed at all but you get what you pay for"
The hotel is definitely value for money - very cheap and serves its purpose if you are flying from gatwick the next day. There is also Parking for the duration of your holiday however we had already booked it with air parks. However; the hotel room was pretty grim - a big panel fell off the door as I opened it - the bed was like a piece of concrete […] and the bathroom looked like an interrogation cell - but on the plus side we checked out very early no problem and the reception forgot to charge me on departure. Will not be staying again though. Les mer

Very convenient for Gatwick, with a good shuttle service to and from the airport, and a great deal if you need to park your car while you're away. Lovely setting, but can be a little noisy with the aircraft...

The hotel was clean and comfortable. There is a shuttle to/from Gatwick, which is about a 15 minute drive. Hotel is out in the country, so is very quiet.

Excellent hotel for overnight stay before and after our holiday. We eat breakfast and an evening meal here ,which was very good value for money. The staff were very friendly. I would defiantly recommend this hotel and would most certainly use it again.

I regularly stay here when flying out from Gatwick because it's a very peaceful location. Rooms are fairly basic but absolutely adequate, reception is always friendly and helpful.

The staff was very nice and helpful, but we were not there long. Stayed the night before heading off to the airport early in the morning. Beds and rooms were confortable. It is kinda located in the middle of nowhere. Online routes can be a bit deceiving. Cab ride from the airport was expensive. They do offer a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel, […] but you have to arrive at the right time. Only a few pounds to take the shuttle back to the airport. About a 15 to 20 minute ride. Not too bad for the price, as long as you don't have to pay for a Taxi (16 pounds!). Les mer

The location of the Hotel is a little off the beaten track and can be a little difficult to find without a GPS system. It would benefit from more sign posts. The staff I found to be very friendly and helpful and tried their best to ensure that their guests had as pleasant a stay as possible. I found that the Hotel itself was in desperate need of re-decoration […] in all areas including the rooms to rid it of the "tired" feel about the place. Car parking appeared to be adequate and the shuttle bus for Gatwick Airport was fine. Having read all the reviews on various websites, I was a bit worried about what I would find when I turned up here, but I needed a hotel room and the price was undeniably a bargain, so I booked it. I had to ring the hotel in advance and was dealt with politely and helpfully, and when I arrived late I was greeted pleasantly by the night manager. My […] room was fantastic, no sign of disrepair like I had seen in other photos, and the bed was clean and very comfortable. Of course it is not a new build so you should not expect shiny new bathrooms and ikea-standard furniture, so some wear and tear was to be expected, but I can honestly say I was very happy with my room, and its great that the shuttle bus runs to it. I didn't have to drive here, but it looked a little out of the way to get to, this may influence other hotel goers, but for me it was absolutely fine. Nice clean hotel although a bit further away from Gatwick airport than expected. Loated in a small village so nothing much about apart from a nice Pub and a lovely Indian restaurant. Bus to airport available regularly for a small price. Overall a nice hotel.

"Absolute hole..."
Stayed here for one night prior to flying out of Gatwick. The hotel room was dire. A bed with no support which meant a massive dip in the middle. Noisy rooms, dilapidated bathroom and water stained ceiling tiles. TV was limited to 4 channels (not even Channel 5, let alone freeview). We were concerned that we would wake up covered in bed bug bites (luckily […] we didn’t). During the night all you could hear were people walking up and down the corridors and moaning about the standard of the rooms. Upon leaving the staff didn’t even ask if we had a good stay – they knew what the answer would be. I DO NOT recommend this hotel. Les mer

Location was ok,but surrounding are smelt like a farm.Which wasnt pleasant at all.Inside of Hotel was Lovely,but bedroom was a different story.We were given dirty duvet sheets,that had a huge purple stain on it.We were so tired when we arrived that we just turned the duvet upside down an slept,in the morning i wrote a sign out to housekeepers asking […] politely to change my duvet sheets,and left the message beside the stain (so they would see it).When we arrived back at out room all they had done was made our bed an left the same sheets on.We told reception but nothing was done. Our room was soo stuffy,there are air conditioners that all dont work.So we had to sleep with a fan in the room all night. Also when we (my partner an i) ordered dinner we ordered our main course and desserts at the same time.Only for it all to be taken out at the same time.our desserts were warm by the time we had it.Also had alot of people staring at the fact we had 4 plates in front of us. "Has really gone down hill"
I was very disappointed when we last stayed here. I first stayed at this hotel about a year ago and the room was lovely. Basic but nice and clean and the hotel had loads of character as it's so old. However, me and my husband stayed there en route to our honeymoon and wow it had gone down hill!! We were given an AWFUL room which had one small window […] overlooking the corridor that you could not open (this does not conform to health and safety standards). The location of the room and the fact that you could not open windows made it very stuffy and gave me a headache. We complained and was told that was all they had. So we tried to have a shower but could not work it as it was so old and the knob was broken. After this, my husband was fuming so he went downstairs and said we wanted to be moved. The elderly guy at reception was not helpful at all so my husband pointed out that it is illegal even to keep animals in a room with no ventilation, let alone humans so the guy gave us another room afterwards. He should have given us this room in the first place, and not used the non ventilation room for customers. I know they were renovating but that is no excuse. The room they moved us into was like the one I stayed in a year ago but by that point, we were so tired (we arrived late) and annoyed that we did not enjoy it at all. It's a shame because it's a beautiful building and I know it must cost a lot to maintain and with the recession, the management are obviously struggling but I'm sorry, that does not excuse for trying to put human beings in a room with no ventilation. BARGAIN The hotel is in need of a refurbish to be honest and the room I was in seemed to be an add-on sometime in the hotels history. The bas is OK, didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment but the bar food was OK - typical pub-grub really? It is obviously popular with people flying from Gatwick as it was full of holiday makers there for one night. […] It has a regular shuttle bus to Gatwick that runs very frequently. It was convenient for Horsham where I was working - the rate was fantastic. Good but needs a refurb. Les mer

This hotel looks nice from the outside but on the inside it needs a major upgrade. Think of very old manor house and you have it! The rooms are quite small, get very very hot (even thou there is a very old a/c unit in the room it didnt work and there were no fans etc). Basic seems to be the theme of the hotel. I found it extremely noisey (noise from […] other rooms, in corridoors etc). The bathroom is basic too and my room did have a weird horrid smell about it. Didn't use any facilities as there was no information in the room about anything, not even fire escapes. Personally I wouldn't recommend this hotel, but if you are after a cheap bed for the night then it wold be fine. Les mer

The hotel is way past it's sell by date. I would only recommend this hotel to guests that are staying for one night only, guests which need to fly out of Gatwick. and are on a limited budget. I arrived after midnight and was greeted by an un helpful night porter. I was given the bridal suite which was a spacious room, so spacious that I needed binoculars […] to see the tv, all 4 channels of it. Thankfully I am single, but if I would have had to spend a night with my bride, a divorce would have been immediate after staying a night here. The only thing good about this hotel was its location. Room was very disgusting. The cover on the bed and the shower curtain had stains on them. the table/desk top surfaces were sticky. "Okay for short stay - for the price"
I stayed here for two night with my partner and my son (2 rooms) to attend a family wedding. The hotel lobby is very impressive in the old country house style but unfortunately this decor isnt carried through to the rest of the hotel. Our rooms were a very good size but both were looking very tired and in need of fresh paint, new curtains and bedding. […] In our room the main bathroom light didn't work. In my son's room, the milk for the tea and coffee tray had congealed, ugh! In the morning we were twice woken by the maid coming in even though the "do not disturb" sign was clearly displayed. We did have a look at eating in the restaurant but walking past the gents and catching a horrible whiff of wee and disinfectant on the way was off-putting to say the least. The hotel's business model is clearly catering to the airport trade and for that it is extremely well placed. I would stay here again for an overnight as the price is good considering the location. I would not want to stay more than one night. One last thing, the hotel is advertised as having wifi, but this didn't work and staff were unable to help. Hotel has not been updated since the 1970s. My shower had to be reported 3 times as would'nt turn off after use but root cause never solved. Food however is good and cheap in the evenings. It is a very cheap hotel but there is a good reason for this

Nice hotel, enjoyable stay. Only fault was tepid water (for shower) at 7am, though it seemed to be warmer by 8.30am. Probably best to avoid showering too early on if at all possible...!

"Very tired hotel and getting more tired"
My husband and I stayed in the hotel in 2005 and since then it doesn't look like any maintenance has taken place. Most people on the shuttle bus were going to retrieve their cars which were parked in long stay at the hotel, so it seems to me that this is where the hotel is concentrating it's focus, and hence guests are staying in a rather shabby and […] run down hotel. My room was probably the worst I have ever stayed in - damp, with no outside window, tiny shower cubicle and grubby furniture. Not to be recommended even as a crash over for Gatwick Airport - stick with what you know and book at Premier Inn. Les mer

Stayed at this hotel one night as a stop over. Hotel was quite nice, room cosy, bed a bit on the small side. restaurant and bar very good, staff very helpful. Down side, needs more tv channels, and needs some refurbishment carried out. Overall good value for money, would stay there again

The hotel was a little scuffed around the edges, not in pristine condition, but this gives it real character. The room was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. I was a bit sceptical about staying at Russ Hill hotel after reading some incorrect reviews on a trusted review site. I found the hotel to be well decorated and the staff were friendly. The room was, warm, clean, and tidy - perfect for a one night stay. Not far from gatwick airport too. Thoroughly recommended.
