"svært fint hotel og svært sentralt"Anmeldt av en hotels.com-gjest den apr 29, 2012
Jeg var 10 dager i tokyo og lå på Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku. Rommet var fint, resturangen var fin og hadde god mat. Men spiste aldri frokost der. Hotellet lå sentralt, nært shoppingsmuligheter, matbutikk, minibank og metroen like utenfor døra.

Teppan-yakiresturanten i kjelleren anbefales!

good location; good service and helpful.
"cheaper and with a bigger room"
Instead of Osaka Cross Hotel, the room is the biggest one I tried in Tokyo. It is only 3mins away from the JR / railway station and having 3 7/24 mini store near to hotel. Also, the pricing is cheaper than in shinjuku!
"Nice location to Tokyo Metro, shopping malls.'"
We really like the location of this hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful plus very politie ...Japanese culture. Highly recommend this hotel to friends at the rate that we've paid.
Perfect location, very convenient. About 5 min from the train station. 2 nice shopping centres but pretty expensive. Some not so expensive eating places around. Wonderful cherry blossom trees greeted us at the entrance, how beautiful and what a surprise! Service is very good and staff are nice. Small unhappiness is that at 6th level, the room only has […] heater and no air con during spring. On higher floors there are, which are alot more expensive. Coming from Singapore, it is necessary to be able to turn on the air con when it is a warmer day, therefore a disappointment. Les mer
"Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo"
My stay at hotel metropolitan was very pleasant with very friendly hotel staff. I have problem connecting my computer to the hotel network. The hotel staff was very attentive and they even went up to my room when it was near mid night. Even though, the staff speaks not very fluent English but they tried to help me. Fortunately, I managed to hook on […] to the internet after some help from them. The area of this hotel is good, is 5 minutes walk from the metro, JR station. I like the location a lot as it is not in a busy street in typical Tokyo city and yet enjoying the convenient of the city transportation. The airport limo bus stop at this hotel and it makes my trip to hotel at ease especially early morning in the day. I would highly recommend this hotel and it is just 3 or 4 station from spa lagua where is a superb onsen in Tokyo which you can experience an onsen. I hope this helps to travelers who are staying here. Les mer

"Hotel Metropolitan - Good Location in Ikebukuro"
Within steps of JR Ikebukuro station with access to other subway lines. Location was great. However, check-in was disappointing...arrived early morning and did not get a room till 15:00hrs. The staff were very inflexible with that. Requested a non-smoking room and was given a smoking room. No wireless internet service.
"Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo: great service & location"
I chose the Hotel Metropolitan because the rates were very good for what seemed to be a quality hotel in the Ikebukuro neighbourhood, barely a block from the station. The hotel was physically even better than I expected, with comfortable furnishings and well-appointed facilities. It is maintained to a very high standard, and has the requisite touches […] of a fine hotel. But what made my experience truly memorable was the extraordinary service of the staff. Everyone I encountered spoke excellent English, and all seemed genuinely friendly as well as very professional. I had a few tricky matters to resolve during my stay, and the assistance I received was invaluable. I have never felt more like I actually was a "guest" at any hotel, with the staff unfailingly recognizing me with a smile, asking if they could help with my plans, and making every effort to ensure I was comfortable. I have stayed at good hotels, but I have never felt so welcomed during a stay. With high quality facilities, a super-convenient location, and outstanding service, the Hotel Metropolitan is an oasis of comfort, and a remarkable value. Les mer
"Nice 3.5-star Hotel Conveniently Located"
This hotel is very nice and conveniently located close to the Ikebukoro JR station and Metro within 7-min. walking distance. You can go anywhere in Tokyo and go to Narita airport from this station using the JR Yamanote Line or the metro. For Narita airport, you can either take JR Narita express which takes 90 min. and costs 3300 Yen Or take JR Yamanote […] Line to Nippori and take Kesei line from Nippori which costs a total of 1350 yen. The room was very comfortable and the staff quite friendly. I was visiting from the US and did not speak Japanese but felt like a home away from home. There is a restaurant in the hotel and many small restaurants including fast food and a shopping complext (Metroploiltan Plaza) within walking distance from the hotel. I chose this hotel for another reason, it is far from the waterfront and hence safer in Tsunami should one occur. On a clear day you can catch a good view of Mt Fuji if your room faces South and West. Les mer

"Hotel metropolitan tokyo"
Extremely convenient. Limousine bus from Narita airport stops here. Located about 3min walk from the part of Ikebukuro station where Tobu department store is. There are signs in the train station to direct you to this hotel. And this is the only hotel I noticed that they have signs for. This demonstrates how close the hotel is to the station. When […] staying at Ikebukuro, you will probably be comparing between staying in the East or in the West part of it. East is where the life is, and I mean, to the extreme. Loads of people, loads of shops and traffic. Quite a shocker if it's your first time there and you have to drag your luggage. West is quieter, and more suitable for first-timers. The East is still very easily accessible from this hotel, since this hotel is so close to the station. I loved it here, but moved to a hotel in the Eastern part on my second trip since the single room was cheaper there and I was more ready for the crowds. Les mer

"Hotel Metropolitan in Tokyo"
We have a family of 6 (2adults & 4kids) and visited Osaka, Kyoto & Tokyo in early Dec 2011. We stayed at The Hotel Metropolitan for 3nights & Crowne Plaza Ana in Narita for 1night. Both hotels in Tokyo are very disappointing as the standard is far beyond our expectation. Most of the Hotel Staff can't speak English and they are not helpful. In Hotel […] Metropolitan, we have 3 the Standard double rooms but end up all turn up difference shapes. We have requested for 3 rooms to be next or link to each another but they give us 2 corner rooms (end of each corner) and 1 in the middle on the whole row of 20 rooms. The morning staff that check us in told us off that they don't have available rooms next to each another for us although we have requested during our booking. My hubby was very mad cause the rooms allocated for my kids are near the fire staircase. In that evening, I spoken to another check in staff and told her that we are not satified on the arrangement and asked her to re-arrange the rooms or upgrade them into Deluxe Double which allowed the 3 rooms to be next to each another. This lady was very helpful and we managed to upgrade by paying another yen13500. The Hotel day-shift staff are not very helpful and can't speak simple english including the information center but the night shift staff are much better. TThe location of the hotel is good, you can shop, eat and taking Jr/Subway at easy access. Les mer

"Near to ikebukuro JRstation, hotel metro politan."
It was nice experience to me. There is metropolotan gate from JRline.(you can use this gate by 21:00) it takes 3minutes ~ maximum 5minutes from station. room was little bit small, big bed for me. (i stayed in semi double) and can use lan cable, but can't use wifi. And can't use skype program at my laptop. You can also watch tv, not only japanese tv […] programs also other national programs-cnn,kbs.. Hotel's front people can speak english well. but, actually i changed my room. They were willing to change my room. but it tooks five minutes. I felt little bit sorry for them. And there is mosburger, and convenience store in front of hotel. They provided very clean, cozy room. I stayed in 14th floor. I couldn't see night scene because of bulidings.. Last day i could see fuji mountain from my room^^ Les mer

"Great Location and Nice Rooms"
Hotel location is great, just a few minutes to JR and Metro Line. Airport Limousine also stop exactly at hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff are also very helpful and accomodating. Lots of places to eat around the hotel. Family Mart and 7-11 are just around the corner, literally.
"What a nice hotel at a reasonable price"
The hotel has an excellent location, less than 2 mins of walk to the train station. Many shopping centres and restaurants/cafes surrounding the hotel, we could do late night shopping during weekend (they close earlier during weekdays). The staff at the hotel were very friendly and smart, good service and professional. Our room was a double room, its' […] size is spacious enough. Bed was very comfortable and bedsheets are clean as new. Les mer
"Conveneient location"
Hotel delivers because of its great location plus the facilities are as one would expect for the prices offered. Well worth paying extra for the queen rooms - not only are they a little bigger but more likely to get a room with a view over the city.
late check in at 3 pm and early check out at 11 am. Wonder is this the norm in Japan ?
"Hotel Metropolitan, Ikebukuro"
Good location with easy access to metro and rail to go anywhere in the Tokyo area easily. Lots of nearby dining and shops. Hotel is a bit old. Needs to be updated to really meet the quality expectations advertized. Breakfast is a bit expensive but then everything in Japan is expensive right now.
"Metropolitan Hotel at Ikebukuro - great location"
My family and I had a pleasant stay at the Metropolitan Hotel. We chose it primarily because of its great access to the train station - a mere 5 min walk. Like what other reviewers have noted, Tobu and Seibu, and the tonnes of restaurants were a draw too. The recently opened aquarium at Sunshine City is about 15min by foot - a good place to go if you […] have young kids in tow, like I did. Our room - a superior twin, was comfortable albeit small. My sister who was travelling with us stayed in a regular twin room, with same features and furnishings, at a lower rate. That is my only "complaint". I was misled by images of the regular room types on the website. The furnishing in the latter look dated in the photos, which was why I decided to opt for the superior room which comes with new furnishings. So you can imagine my surprise when I saw my sister's room was similar to mine! In fact, on our final night there ( we had checked out for an overnight trip to Hakone, and upon return to Tokyo, had checked into Metropolitan again) my superior twin room was smaller than my sister's regular twin room. Perhaps the hotel still has regular rooms that are dated in looks, but given my experience, it's not worth the extra expense to "upgrade" to a superior room. Having said that, I have to say that service from front desk, information counter to housekeeping was impeccable - and it's a bonus that they speak good English. I will definitely go back again, if I ever visit Tokyo in the future. Les mer
"Great location high quality room"
i stayed a couple of nights and was very happy i made the choice to stay here for a bit of luxury. i stayed in a supreme queen room and was lucky to get a corner room. i was very happy with it.. it seemed newly decorated, was clean and felt of s good quality. Also used the gym and pool. a nice resource to have. it is a good area, lots of restaurants […] nearby and though no greenery the hotel is right next to station with fast access via a number of lines to parks nearby as well as of course whatever else you want to visit. "Hotel Metropolitan, Ikebukuro, Tokyo"
The hotel is very conveniently located very close to Ikebukuro Station, so travel to other parts of Tokyo is very easy. There are several convenience stores within a few minutes walk of the hotel and a huge shopping are with many department stores and restaurants within 5 minutes walk. The hotel itself is modern, clean and comfortable and it has the […] friendliest staff we have ever encountered in any hotel in Japan. Mariko at the Concierge desk was so kind and helpful and spoke excellent English. The room is a decent size and comes equipped with free high speed Internet and an empty fridge for your own use (and not full of overpriced mini bar items like most hotels). It is one of the hotels that The Friendly Limousine Airport Bus calls at each day, so was extremely convenient for this purpose. We would definitely stay at this hotel, if we visit Tokyo again. This was our 3rd visit to Tokyo but our 1st at this hotel and it was the best in terms of value for money and convenience of location. Les mer
"Metropolitan Tokyo"
Hotel was good and staff is courteous and nice; however the room did not look at all like the ones in the pictures. The carpets in the room as well as the hallways in the 7th floor were stained and smelled humid. Overall experience was not the extraordinary but OK....
"Home Away From Home"
Ikebukuro is our favorite part of Tokyo and when we are there, we stay at the Hotel Metropolitan. The staff is great, the location is perfect - right near the Ikebukuro train station, which is on the Yamanote line, so convenient to almost any train travel. The room we stay in even has an un-possible view of Mt. Fuji on clear days. No one ever sees […] Fuji-san in the city, but we have, every time. The rooms are small, the carpet's seen better days, but it's still the nicest hotel in town. Les mer
"it's convenience of Hotel location"
When we stay there, the Web just out of order and repair for a long time so that we cann't contact our company . To such an extent that our boss was angry and blame us for a long while... . We feel depressed till we went to window shopping.
"metropolitan hotel in tokyo"
this is my 4th stay in this hotel since 2009. convenient, clean, friendly, tidy.most of the staff can speak good english.even the 2 japanese restaurants in the hotel are good.
"Hotel Metropolitan Tokio"
i Love it,!!! Is close to everything! very safe place to stay. I didnt try the rest. but you have so many places to eat around...!
"What a Great Hotel!!"
Hurry and book this hotel--it's perfect! Felt like a 5 star hotel--lobby is beautiful and rooms are spacious and nice. Neighborhood is great--1 blk to subway (main line for tourist sites) with several restaurants within 1-2 blks--Italian, hamburgers, noodles, coffee shops, etc. Main department store 1 blk with great food hall--not cheap food, but great […] food with chance to interact with vendors. We went to one of the hotel arestaurants one night to have a couple of appetizers and we were treated like queens--the waiter brought special tea, and showed us a simple tea ceremony. Then explained the flowers and scents in the tea, and even gave us a small baggy of the tea leaves to take home. has a currency exchange in lobby, and concierge to buy tour tickets from. Perfect hotel and would book it again immediately. Les mer

I had only two days in japan but I had great stay because of hotel metropolitan. Good access from Narita, many department stores nearby, close to Ikebukuro st, variety of restaurants nearby. I would say the location is just perfect. There are two convinience stores by the hotel too. I will definitely go back there.

Hotel staff helpful, courteous and honest. Location of hotel is good as it is just 5 mins walk to train station. Very convenience for food and shopping as there are a lot of stores and restaurants nearby and surronding the train stations.
"Very helpful staff"
The Metrolpolitan Hotel is conveniently located and there's lots of restaurants etc. around. What really stood out for me was how helpful the staff was and how no question was left unanswered. A word of warning though, the restaurants are really over-priced. Just go around the block to find much better value.

"Deserves more than its 3.5 star rating"
Stayed in the Superior floor, the room had an amazing view, great amenities and the decor was really modern and sophisticated, the bathroom was clean and well equipped. Ikebukuro is not the ideal neighbourhood to stay but the hotel was right next to the train and metro stations which made it very convenient. There are two convenience stores around the […] vicinity of the hotel, mosburger right outside, and also five shopping multi storey shopping malls within a short walking distance to keep you occupied. The room size was generous (compared to others in Tokyo I've been to), the staff were friendly and spoke English well, checking in/out was a breeze, room service were really quick to respond, morning newspaper given daily.
