The Fairfax at Embassy Row, Starwood Luxury Collection - Washington

Hotellet ligger fint til ved Dupont circle med tilgang til metro med avstand ca 100m. Bra. Hotellet er gammelt og bærer preg av det. Kan gjerne kalles en falmet storhet. Rommene er ganske små, og utsikten fra en rekke rom, inkl. vårt, er rett inn i en murvegg med avstand på 3-4 m. Det er ikke morsomt. Vi forsøkte å bytte rom, men det var ikke mulig […] å få gjennomført.Kunne evt fått rom i 8.etg men med nesten samme utsikt. Resepsjonen er meget liten og med bare 2 stoler hvor man kunne benytte gratis WIFI i inntil 1 time. Det er for dårlig. Ellers betal- WIFI i fellesområder inkl. bar. Baren var hyggelig i yacht-club stil, men ganske så slitt og ikke helt rene puter heller. Vi spiste frukost en morgen, men den var langt unna vår norske standard. Tung mat i svært dyr buffet, pølser og eggerøre. Meny svært sparsommelig og ikke egnet for norske ganer. Meget dyrt, men med gode frukostmuligheter i nærmiljøet, Le Pain Quotidien like rundt hjørnet foretrekkes. Trivelig betjening. Vi bestilte rom for 3 personer, men dette var alldeles for trangt. Kofferter måtte legges på gulvet, mellom sengene. Hotellet bør ikke leie ut så små rom for 3 personer, men heller overlate dette til mer moderne hotell i nærheten med større rom og bedre faciliteter. Vi var innom andre hoteller i nærheten som hadde mye bedre tilbud, men kunne ikke bytte pga forhåndsbetaling. Vi kommer nok til å bo på et moderne hotell neste gang. Hotellet passer for et eldre ektepar uten barn, og som trives best i gammel stil. Les mer

Hyggelig hotell med god service, bra frokost. Litt kaldt på rommet , var der i desember , minus 2 grader ute. Ellers veldig fornøyd grei beliggendhet i ok strøk. Bor gjerne på samme sted neste gang.

Hotellet var rent og pent med god standard. Veldig god mat i restauranten, men litt dyrt kanskje. Hotellet ligger tilbaketrukket rett ved Dupont Circle. 3 min gåtur til t-banen, men likevel så tilbaketrukket at trafikk overhodet ikke er sjenerende. Hotellpersonalet var veldig hyggelige og hjelpsomme. Dette er et hotell som er stort nok til at de har […] alle bekvemmeligheter, men samtidig lite nok til at det blir personlig. I really enjoyed my stay at The Fairfax. The hotel itself is gorgeous, the hotel staff professional and courteous, and our room was large and lovely. Had a pleasant stay.

The Fairfax is a good place to stay, well-located for good food and access to sights and government offices. I was there for business, and the staff went out of their way to help me with something I needed to print — at 10pm the night before a meeting.

The room was very nice but on the small side. Did not like the pillows on the bed. One was a king pillow and one was a standard pillow. Do not understand if you have a room with a king bed why they would not have 2 king pillows. Also, the air conditioning was a real problem. It kept clicking on and off all night long and I could not sleep because it […] was noisy and close to the bed. I had the temperature set at 70 degrees dont know why it kept doing this. great hotel in a fabulous up market area. close to the dupont circle metro and a chic neighborhood with plenty of cafes and restaurants around dupont circle. historic hotel, used to be the Ritz and has many stories to tell. cons: the walls are really too thin. if you have a noisy neighbor, you will suffer, otherwise extremely pleasant experience at […] this historic hotel. I was scared to rent outside of the norm but I was pleasantly surprised at how upscale and nice the entire experience was. Pricey but that's DC.

We had a lovely corner room, the staff was very accommodating, and we will stay there again!

The staff at the hotel are wonderful, warm, friendly and helpful. The elevators are always there and run smoothly and quietly. The location is divine- just one or two blocks from DuPont Circle, one of the best parts of DC. One drawback is the ghastly charge for internet service. The room was very comfortable, but the surface of the tub didn't feel "right". […] We loved our stay there primarily because of the staff. Darren at the night desk gave me great directions in the wee hours. He was a real life saver (DC at midnight ). He was very welcoming when I arrived. All accommodations were splendid.

One night stay to visit college campuses with HS senior and take in Capitols hockey game -- easy access to metro (red line at DuPont Circle). Embassy Row at doorstep -- pretty neighborhood. Excellent restaurants and shops just short walk to Connecticut Ave. Hotel staff were exceptionally nice and accommodating -- including quickly retrieving cell phone […] left in car during check-in. Super valet service -- 3-5 minutes retrieval time. Could not have had a better experience. Super value. Les mer

Great neighborhood (across the street from the Philips Museum), great service, concierges were very helpful (for example had tix to Holocaust Museum which were impossible to get online, saving us hours of waiting, and recommended great eating spots). Room was fine -- not the Ritz Carlton but good value and perfectly comfortable. Parking charge of almost […] $50/day (with tax) stings, but is standard for the area. I was very disappointed with this hotel for a few reasons. The location is good, but the hotel itself is in need of a make-over and more importantly, greater attention to customer comfort and service. 1) no water in the room. The only option available was to order water from room service and pay service fee and tip. You've got to be joking. 2) the hair […] dryer in my room was DISGUSTING. It was covered with a thick film of sticky hair spray. What kind of hotel that brands itself as a luxury hotel doesn't train it's house keeping staff to look out for things that need to be replaced or cleaned? 3) no convenient places to hang my towels in the bathroom 4) small room 5) no complimentary wifi (which is becoming common - I travel a lot) 6) front desk staff who simply replied "I don't know" to my question about whether I could get to a destination by metro. I had to press her to look into it for me. She should have automatically and politely offered to look into it immediately. 7) no minibar 8) I was not sure whether my sheets were actually fresh 9) there was no "privacy please" sign I could use 10) there was only decaf coffee in my room. Beautiful hotel located in the heart of one of the best neighborhoods in DC. Absolutely loved the location, hotel and staff.

Firstly, I should say that I like the Dupont Circle area, which sort of self-selected a few hotels. My Starwood membership also got me a free room upgrade, despite the competitive price Hotels.com secured for me. As such, we were delighted. We had a great room: only the bathroom could do with minor updating. Although we faced the street, after rush […] hour the area is v quiet. Heavenly beds and sheets took care of the rest! The public areas are smart - traditional in keeping with the neo-classical look of the hotel, and everyhwhere was clean. Unfortunately, as a largely business hotel, the bar and restaurant prices are high. I suggested they incentivise clients (first drink?) otherwise it's too easy to walk a couple of blocks and be spoilt for choice. All round, a good hotel giving exactly what is expected - topped off by the room upgrade. Would use again. Les mer

Everything was impeccable. Room was a little small, but very comfortable for my one night stay. Dupont Circle location makes it easy to find restaurants. Staff was helpful with taxis and luggage.

Our stay at the Fairfax at Embassy Row was very pleasant. The staff was very helpful and accommodating in every way (they provided me with a toothbrush at no charge within less than three minutes after I called). The room was what one would expect of a hotel of that caliber. The fitness center was well equipped and kept, and the other common areas were […] lovely. We got a real bargain for such a deluxe hotel, but the charge for the valet parking, which in that neighborhood is necessary, was astronomical. I know that I am not supposed to refer to specific amounts, but suffice it to say that it was more than one third of what the room cost. Les mer

Once again The Fairfax provided a great place for my son and I to spend the weekend. Friendly service; spotlessly clean room. Located just one block from The Phillips Collection, two blocks from the Metro and surrounded by great places to eat for all budgets. Our favorite of its kind in DC!

Generally a very nice hotel, with exceptionally helpful staff. The reception and rooms were a bit smaller than expected of a 4½ star hotel, but not uncomfortably so. As usual the policy of charging over USD 20 for breakfast sent us outside, but there was a good brunch place and bagel take away within 50m on P.

The service was superb! I became ill in the middle of the night and needed 7-up. My husband called room service at 3 a.m. and they delivered ginger ale (even better!). Great hotel and great service. The food is also very very good!

I did not receive maid service for my 2 day stay. Did complain at front desk the second evening; and in all honesty, just asked to have coffee replace. When I first checked in there was a feather duster left on the floor of the room; in hind sight wonder if that was left for me to do own cleaning. Lovely hotel in a nice neighborhood, steps from Dupont Circle. However, I wouldn't recommmend it. Aside from minor irritants that shouldn't be the case in a 4+ star hotel (minibar isn't pre-stocked, charge for wireless internet): (1) The mattress was clearly well beyond its useful life--it sank half-way to the boxspring, and we couldn't sleep. The […] next morning, we were given the choice of two other rooms, the first of which had the same problem, the second of which was satisfactory. Until night 2 . . . (2) Our new room was two floors above the ballroom--and the party was so noisy that we couldn't fall asleep Although they wrote off the (exorbitant) valet parking charge, it didn't undo the discomfort of our two nights there.. Comfortable with nice finishes.

This is a fabulous boutique hotel. The staff was friendly and ever present. A quality property with door men, bell staff and great housekeeping. I went down for breakfast one morning and my room was cleaned before I returned. It has a great bar, cozy and easy to do business. The restaurant has a limited menu but the food and service were on target. […] The food menu in the bar is available later. My room was impeccable and the sound level outside was non existent. I was attending a conference at a hotel four blocks away and used the Fairfax as my fortress of solitude. Les mer

I enjoyed the room, the friendly attitude of all the guest I came in contact with and would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was not only beautiful but the staff was amazingly attentive.

We stayed in the Grand Deluxe 2 Queens room. The room was very clean and plenty of space for my 5 and 3 yrs old to move around. Only down side was the mini bar. Not that I feel the minibar is a good value but my daughters had the munchies in the middle of the night and to their disappointment it was completely empty. I went down to the hotel lobby hopeing […] for a vending machine but there were none. I was told the closest store was CVS about 3 blocks away from the hotel. As any father would do for his kids, I ventured out to CVS and brought some snacks to ease my kids hunger pang. Overall the experience was very pleasant. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The hotel was exceptionally well staffed. The front desk personnel were friendly and accommodating especially when we asked to check into our room several hours early. We were delighted to be given a room that was cleaned and available. The service was outstanding and we were pleasantly surprised to return after dinner our first night to find that there […] was turn-down service. The location is fabulous ... a popular area with dozens of good restaurants and wonderful museums ... and just a few short blocks to the Metro (although you could easily walk to many local attractions). The only disappointment was that the room was rather small and didn't have a sitting area. I also noticed that I did not have a newspaper outside my door in the morning as other guests did. I assume this was because I booked my room through hotels.com even though I presented my loyalty card at time of check-in. Les mer
