Howard Johnson Inn SeaWorld - San Diego

Good hotel. Short distance to Sea World, Mission bach, San Diego city and airport. Many restaurants in the area. You will need to have a car in the area.

There was basically nothing to eat during breakfast, I expected at least some bagels and cream cheese, they change the "menu" every day but not for the better. Einstein bagels is acrooss the street....We statyed in a non smoking room, yet it smelled like one big ahstray.Staff is nice. Location is commercial. Would not go there again.

The hotel was easy to find and located close to Sea World. However, the room was a little aged and the cleaning staff not very friendly. The breakfast was a joke! Waffles, fruit loops and toast. That was about it. Very noisy people seem to frequent this hotel. Pool was very, very small. Very thin walls. Probably not stay here again.

Price was a little high considering that the hotel is not a newer facility. We were on the outside of the hotel and it was a one way drive with no second exit making it difficult to get out. It's just an okay hotel.

Original room had no wi-fi signal and door lock stopped working. The staff was very courteous and provided an alternate room right away. The replacement room was perfect, however the next door room was vacant and had an alarm clock go off for hours during the night.. a call to the front desk and they promptly went to the room and turned off the alarm […] clock. Overall, a few problems, but the staff was A+ service. Price vs location (near Zoo and Seaworld/beach), was great, I'd recommend using this hotel. Les mer

Had a great stay at this location. They made us feel like we were family. When we checked in they called our room to welcome us , and when we left our key in the room they called to make sure we made it in our room. they also called to see how our stay was before we checked out. We were very pleased with the large size of the room, the excellent breakfast with so many choices, and the staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful whenever we needed help. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel room served it's purpose, but I am not likely to recommend a stay here to anyone. Although the rooms seemed to be 'remodeled' and we had requested a non smoking room, upon entering it reeked of musky old smoke. The walls were very thin and we heard our neighbors all night long talking and moving around everywhere. The floor wasn't very clean […] and I found a spider crawling around. Les mer

The hotel is across the street from a strip mall so anything you might want is close by. There is an airport shuttle and a very basic breakfast. There's also a gas station on the corner which makes filling up the rental car easy.

Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Waitress at the hotel restaurant was a bit rude. Location near all. For the price, I would stay again.

Highly recommend this accommodation. Front desk very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast selection very impressive, and not over-crowded, even have the morning paper available to raed over your coffee and waffle.

My boyfriend and I were looking to get away but wanted to find a good hotel for a good price. We found that here!It was right in the middle of everything and the quality of our room was amazing!very spacious and clean. The front desk person was very helpful as well. The hotel is a great hotel for the price, But disappointingly enough the Hotels.com add does say they have a hot tub/spa and they do not! That was something I was specifically looking forward to and if it wasnt for the Belgium waffles they offered I would of picked a different hotel if I would of known! Good value and clean, only one thing bothered me: it is too close to the airport and the noise was too loud.

This hotel has friendly and helpful front desk staff. My room was clean and included a refrigerator and microwave. It also had a full range of cable TV stations, including my favorite, HGTv. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel should be a one star hotel. it is very old and the furniture is old and not very clean. The front desk staff are not friendly and the breakfast is very cheap. I will not stay in this hotel and won't recommend it to anybody.

Great room clean and big Nice staff Amazing breakfast! Waffles toast pastries fruit coffee juice cereal. Amazing for such an affordable hotel. Secure location We stayed here but spent our time in la jolla and pb for surfing.

The hotel was nice and the amenities were plentiful, however, do not, i repeat do not get any food from the italian place the raviolies were Chef-boy-orde, and the food was cold and expensive, on the plus side the Mexican resturant was delightful and gave plenty of food for reasonable price

Nice room. Great front desk service. The only thing that really bugged me (very minor) was that the carpet could use a good cleaning. Walking around barefoot picked up quite a bit of dirt. Other than that, it was fine.

The only thing disappointing to me was the size of the pool. Very, very small. Otherwise comfortable and convenient!

Not bad, overall... but, nothing special. The service was friendly. The room was comfortable and clean (except the carpet). Between the busy street (with bad traffic), and the lack of a view .... there is no feel whatsoever of being near the ocean or on a relaxing vacation. This is a motel, but it is clean and well located. Our room was very large and had plenty of space for my make-up and creams, lotions and so on. It was a nice surprise. The cleaning crew takes pride in making the bathroom look like it is the Ritz by decorating the towels and toilet paper with fancy folds. We stayed one night during holiday and found room 139 quiet (ie no highway noise that other reviews noted) and beds very comfortable. Breakfast was good and well stocked to the last minute. Disappointed about the swimming pool not being in service on the day - in summer this is NOT ok!

We were quite pleased with this hotel. The front desk staff were extremely helpful, friendly and polite. The continental breakfast was adequate, just a bit crowded. We checked in late and did not took a long time at all. The people who works in the front desk were very nice and helpful. When we got to our room, we could not open it and the person in the front desk came and opened it to us. We just needed to push hard to open it. The room was very clean and specious. The parking lot has a security cameras which […] was one of the reasons that made me decide to stay there. They have a free shuttle to the SeaWorld which was a plus. The only thing that there breakfast was very limited and very crowded. The area was surrounded by a lot of restaurants in a walking distance and shoppings. We went down for a weekend trip. Great location; minutes from beach cities. Nice lobby, good rooms with comfortable beds.

Hotel price was decent for a last minute trip. Really close to Sea World and the beach, literally 5 minutes away. Neighborhood was the only thing that was sort of sketchy but other than that everything was great.

Great place to stay for visiting Seaworld. Very close and easy access. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Parking lot well lit and secured by cameras. I felt very comfortable parking my truck here, unlike other places. Good breakfast every morning. Comfortable beds. I only have one small complaint. The staff and facility was good. The walls were paper thin, which was surprising for a hotel/motel that advertises new rooms. I could hear every sneeze and phone conversation in the rooms flanking mine. The housekeeping staff got a little sloppy on the second to last day, leaving trash and not replenishing cups, etc. Overall, for the price it was a […] good value, but I'll probably look for other options next trip to get better sleep. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The front desk manager came straight to our room when our AC unit was on the fritz and fixed it within a minute or two. The room was clean and quiet, had a fridge/microwave, was close to SeaWorld, and was outright excellent. The breakfast was good as well. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room was clean. No bed bugs. Beds were very comfortable. Pillows just right. Continental breakfast was very good and varied enough to not be boring. Fairly quiet being close to the airport and next to a busy street. Our room did not face the street, so the room was a good choice. Planes taking off from airport were loud, if outside, but once inside […] one could barely hear them. Every amenity worked except for electrical outlet for morning coffee maker, which had to be moved to another outlet to work. Shower control seemed odd as it required almost full blast to get the right temperature. Nice motel, gets the job done. Staff is very nice and the rooms were decent. Not great but still good enough. For the price you get a nice room that feels safe close to SD and many things, a good deal if ur on a tight budget

Nice room, next to all you need. The walls are a bit thin. If you are the type that need total silence to sleep could be a problem.

Stayed here with the fam for my brother's graduation, utilized the shuttle to the Depot, and snacked a little on the continental breakfast. The room was very comfortable and clean. I was glad to have such a wonderful bed after landing in SD after 10 hours of travel. Layout of the dining area was a little awkward (table and 2 chairs in a cramped corner), […] but a cramped dining area is better than no dining area. Rooms are motel style, with separate entrances facing the parking lot (relatively safe, didn't see any bums or prostitutes loitering as others have mentioned). Ice machine requires room key to work; had to help some guy who couldn't figure it out. There's a sign that says, "INSERT ROOM KEY." Maybe lots of bums tried to get free ice? Night/early morning attendant was EXTREMELY helpful and nice. Shuttles require a 24-hr reservation so be sure to book ahead. Also, shuttles back from the depot are first come, first served (only within a 1-hr window that I was not told about until I got there), so I suggest you be at the pick-up spot to the hotel at 4:45p.m.! Continental breakfast has plenty of sweet pastries (mini muffins, fruit & cheese danish, boiled eggs, make-your-own waffles, cereal, apples, oranges, juice & coffee. Area leaves much to be desired, but the location is convenient, what with shops and plenty of places to eat nearby. Didn't get to use the pool, but it looked meh. I booked a room here mainly because of the shuttle, and was pleasantly surprised by the kind staff, the nice little breakfast off of the lobby, and the uber comfortable bed. Hojo gets the job done. This is a basic hotel that is close to stores, restaurants, banks and bus routes. Very convenient. The neighbourhood does get rather seedy a few blocks away though. Front desk service was fine. Breakfast was satisfactory though very crowded and lacking in variety. Beds were clean and comfortable but there were some holes in the blankets.
