Dette er et flott hotell med perfekt beliggenhet noen hundre meter unna sentrumsgatene. Lett å komme til sentrum og offentlig kommunikasjon. Hotellet holder høy standard, har gratis trådløst internett, gratis spa-avdeling og gratis minibar som fylles hver dag. Rent og pent over alt. Hyggelig betjening. Veldig bra resurant, men litt høye priser. Fin bar i kjelleren, men litt lite folk der.

"Here you can sleep"
I have been visiting Amsterdam every year in nearly 15 years. I have been ripped for money at filthy hotels, but Eden Lancaster it´s allright. Not fantastic, but allright. Quite clean room, allright standard for the money.. Not fantastic, but here you can sleep
"Good location - great price"
Cheaper than most hotels of the same standard. The tram stops right outside. Quiet area. Close to everything. The room was quite small, but that's just the way it is in Amsterdam. We didn't stay much in the room anyway. All in all a nice, clean, cozy hotel. Free internet. We would stay here again. Didn't try the breakfast, ate in town.

"Lite hotell i utkanten av sentrum"
Hotellet var pent og rent og svarte til forventningene til et tre-stjernes hotell. Rommene var ikke store, men absolutt kurante. Vi fikk et godt tilbud og hotellet var dermed svært prisgunstig ift. andre hotell i Amsterdam med tilsvarende standard. God og hyggelig service fra personalet. Vi kom med bil og hotellet kjører bort bilen for deg og parkerer […] den. Dette ble rimeligere enn å ta gateparkering som også er tilgjengelig rett utenfor hotellet. Fin beliggenhet hvis du reiser med barn - rett ved siden av Artis dyrepark. Kort gåavstand til kanalbuss og kort sykkeltur inn til sentrum. Hotellet har frokostbuffet (som man betaler ekstra for) og den var helt grei. Det lå også en sjarmerende liten kafé vegg i vegg med hotellet som serverte god kaffe, baguetter, croissanter etc. Hotellet kan absolutt anbefales. Les mer

"A cosy hotel"
Me and my daughter had a pleasant stay for our visit in Amsterdam. The hotel was up to the standard expected and and situated a little outside the city center was perfect to us. The Rom was clean and comfortable.

Billig og fint hotell, gangavstand til det meste. Rommet var lite, men sengene gode. Passende hotell når man ikke har planer om å gjøre stort mer enn å sove på rommet.

Hotel was great, in a very quiet neighborhood. Was a four euro train ride from Schipol Airport and about ten minutes from Amsterdam Centraal via tram (although it is an easy 20 min. walk from Centraal). It was possible for us to see the Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum, Heineken Brewery, and Red Light District all without taking public transportation. […] Hotel staff was able to lend us a voltage adapter when we forgot to pack one. Didn't try the breakfast but there was a great cafe right next door where we got hot chocolate and croissants for 3 euro. All in all a very pleasant experience! Les mer
"Autopilot"
This is one of those hotels you only get in places like London or Amsterdam or Paris. They don't really have to try very hard to get people in the rooms. The room was small with a nice view over a flat roof. Things generall worked. The shower, the hotwater, the desklamp - it all worked. It smelt like a hostel - the faint smell of smoke and the hoover […] only used in the centre of the room. But I have nothing to complain about, it just wasn't great value for money. Perhaps the most disappointing was the service at the frontdesk. Mechanical unflinching and cool. Service with a distant far off gaze wishing they were somewhere else. The problem is, if you greet all you guests this way, they probably wish the same. Come on - this is not a cheap hotel - a bit of vim and a spruce up. Les mer

"No complaints"
The Hampshire is a decent place to find abode. Rooms were quite small but clean and equipped with a comfortable bed. There's a tram (line 9, goes to Central station) passing right outside the hotel, with a stop at a few steps. This is convenient for travel, but is also audible from rooms facing the street. Shower could have better water pressure.

Spent three nights at the hotel, very cosy, tidy and quiet hotel. Didn't use any hotel services, because the location and surroundings is really good. Small cafes and restaurants around the corner where You can get breakfast. Easy access with trams 9 and 14 from central station and attractions are very near. "Clean, convenient, and overall good value"
My wife and I stayed here during Christmas week just before New Year's Eve. The price was much better than most places around so we were a bit skeptical, but what we found was a clean, conveniently located hotel that did the job. We requested an upper floor room based on some other user comments and ended up with a quiet spot on the 3rd floor. The room […] was small but clean. Only caveat: the bathroom was VERY small - be ready to have your knees touch the wall in front when using the toilet. But outside of that, the staff was friendly, and it was very easy to access central Amsterdam via tram or by foot. The trams that leave/arrive from the hotel stop (the 9 and 14) both come frequently and it's 5-10 mins to Dam Square. No fridge in the room but what can you do - at least they had beer in the vending machine downstairs. Overall, we'd stay there again. Perhaps ask if they have a room with a larger bathroom, but it's not a deal breaker. Les mer

Very nice hotel great service, nice room and price. I recommend it to everyone.
Nice quiet area, while still very convenient to Dam square - 8-10 minute bike ride. Hotel corridors look rather like a ship - cramped and a little tatty. Our room was comfortable but carpet was filthy. Asked to be moved after first night. Second room was better - carpet was clean, beds and bedlinen clean and comfortable. Hotel decor overall was a little […] shabby and jaded. Male receptionist was sullen and reluctant. 3 star decor and service for a 5 star price. Won't be staying here again. Les mer

Conveniently located away from the centre of Amsterdam but within easy walking distance if the city centre (tram stop is within a few minutes walk too). Very clean and comfortable, the single rooms are OK for one person but the twin rooms may be a little small (particularly the bathrooms). "Great hotel - some walking required though!"
The hotel is in a calm area of Amsterdam. In fact, the only noise you'll hear are the wild birds from across the street and the trams! Yes, while the trams are very handy and take you directly to the center in 5 minutes, they are also very noisy. If possible, ask for a room that doesn't face the street. Calm means a bit far off. It takes about 15 minutes […] of easy walking to get to Dam Square and the road leading there is lined with restaurants and food stalls as well as your standard tacky souvenir shops and so-called "coffeeshops". If you don't feel like walking that far, there are a couple of cafés and restaurants around the area, just ask at reception. For the party people, Rembrandtplein is around 5-10 minutes and the famous nightclub Trouw is about the same. I highly recommend Canvas, a rooftop bar right across Trouw. The view of Amsterdam is wonderful and they have excellent cocktails and great music. If you want to be in the absolute center, then the Lancaster is not for you. But it is an excellent hotel with very comfortable rooms and great service. I highly recommend it. P.S. Amsterdam is THE city for bikers. Biking from the Lancaster to the center will obviously be much faster than walking but, sadly, I can't tell you how long it will take as my stay in Amsterdam was without a bike due to the fact that my travel mate can't bike. :P Les mer
"Not a great location, and rather shabby"
I stayed here about 7 years ago and the fact that the hotel is a little way out from the centre was more than made up for by the fact that it was clean, friendly, modern, with good facilities and was good value. This time the place has turned decidedly shabby: the carpets in particular were dirty, stained and old. The walls of the rooms were scuffed, […] and in general the place feels like it need some serious maintenance. That would be OK if the place was cheap, but for the prices charged one would expect much better. Also, if you do stay, I'd avoid being put in a room in the basement - these are just below ground level with windows that look out onto people's feet as they walk by on the pavement outside. Noisy and not very private! All in all you could do a lot worse, but you could do a lot better too. Decidedly "meh" overall. Les mer

the room was clean and comfortable. the fellow at the front desk (mohammed) was extremely helpful...he needs a raise!! however, breakfast was uneatable...sausages and scrambled eggs were ice cold and hard as a rock...quite expensive breakfast that was horrible! best to eat somewhere else. also, i originally booked and paid for the room for 5 nights...my […] airline plans changed and i was only able to stay at the hotel for 2 nights. i was unable to change plans with hotel and ended staying 2 nights while having paid for 5 nights...absolutely no refund even after i gave a 2 week notice to the hotel. much $ thrown away. "Eden Lancaster Amsterdam"
The facility was ok overall. I received a paper at check-in that had breakfast with a “yes” and “no”. Yes was checked, but upon check-out we had been charged. I tried to dispute but didn’t have much time because I had to get to the airport. It was a bit disappointing. The hotel’s shuttle service is terrible. They have drivers who don’t speak much […] English, drop people off as far from the airport doors as possible and have bad body odor. I wish they had a different service available. I had to book a 4-person room for this stay. It was ok, but very crowded. I expected a little cramped, but I would recommend looking elsewhere for a 4-person room. The service was good, but the hotel doesn’t have basics like most. I had friends stay at a nearby hotel (walking distance) and there were several freebies included, such as bottled water, umbrellas for check-out and internet service. This property sold umbrellas, charged for internet service and didn’t even always have bottled water available. Overall it wasn’t the end of the world, but I don’t think I will return for another stay. Les mer

This is an excellent hotel, nice breakfast, clean and friendly. This section of Amsterdam is less crowded, close enough to the center, and has parks and cafes. I highly recommend this hotel.

Do not stay here do yourself a favour and stay at the eden hotel near the square. This one is no good at all more like a hostel and the rooms are tiny!

"The Eden Lancaster: near but not too near center"
I stayed here four days while attending a conference in the middle of the old city. I walked the 25 minutes each way, but there's a tram-line in front of the hotel so you can get in and out quickly. The hotel is also across from the zoo, very near the botanical garden, and close to the Hermitage Amsterdam. The hotel staff was helpful and competent […] (giving me a quieter room on checkin, and helping sending me an item I had forgotten at the hotel). Book the breakfast in advance if you want it, for 10 Euro it's OK but 15 is, IMHO, pricey. The restaurant is a basement room without natural light so you might want to consider that when planning. The wifi internet worked fine. The rooms are a bit small but this is generally true in Amsterdam, so it's not a shortcoming of the hotel. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay and with the service provided by the hotel, and recommend the hotel to other travelers . Les mer
"Not bad"
This is a very nice hotel in a very nice neighborhood, only about a 10 minute tram ride to the heart of the city. The tram station was one block outside the frotn door. Pleasant, friendly staff. However, the beds were incredibly uncomfortable. The other issue that we had was that when we booked, it said we would have free "high speed" internet in the […] rooom, and even when we arrived, the hotel's own brochure in the lobby said the same thing....but when we got to the room, we were made to pay for it in 24-hour blocks, and then it was so slow as to be completely useless. "Eden Lancaster- just a tram ride away!"
We were overall satisfied with our stay at this hotel. There was also a 50 euro deposit that we were unaware of for movies, internet, etc. We didn’t use any of the extras, so we got it back. Pros: Our room was for two twin beds and so I was expecting two twin beds separated by a night stand or table of sorts. My husband and I booked it spur of the moment […] so we took what we could get. When we got to our room, it was two twin beds put together to make a big bed, also known as a double. So it was a nice surprise! The hotel is also located near a tram stop so we were able to get around the city very easily. They also have a-get-your-coffee-and-go place near by and a real sit down cafe by the tram stop. Frommers also recommends it for families with kids. Cons: We stayed in room 207 which is located at the top of the stairs and is a busy area. The walls were not exactly sound proof so we heard noisy people as they were leaving in the morning. Les mer
"Lovely relaxing hotel away from the bustle"
We had a quiet room overlooking the park. We stayed for three nights and had no problems during our stay. We didn't have the breakfast but had a nice breakfast in "Coffee to Walk" cafe just next door.

The hotel was in a pretty good location, about a 10 minute walk to the edge of the main areas and a tram stop right outside. The lobby is nice and has free internet, the staff were friendly. "Good value"
The service was really excellent. My partner even got a chipped tooth and the guy at the front desk helped her find numbers for a dentist even though none of them were accepting emergency patients. The hotel was nice although the carpet was stained and could do with replacing. Everything else was very tidy. The area around the hotel is a bit slow, […] and although it's nice and quiet, there are only a few places to eat and they are all very expensive although that is Amsterdam for you. I think next time I would prefer to stay in the Museum District because there's more going on but it's still on the quieter side. we bagged a bargain with the price and went with friends who paid more. the room was clean, but tiny and extremely hot. Our friends get a much better room. We didn't spend too much time in our room other than sleeping.
"Perfect for Younger Couple"
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Eden Lancaster for three nights in early August of 09 and loved it, especially for the money. It's about a 10-15 minute train ride from Centraal station, so it's out of the hustle and bustle (and noise) of the center while still conveniently located. The hotel staff was very friendly- accommodating our requests for […] maps, directions, restaurant tips, etc. It was clean and quiet the entire time we were there. It's right across the street from the zoo (luckily, no zoo smell) and occasionally we heard wild birds in the morning, which was actually sort of pleasant. The room was a little on the small side and wifi is provided only spottily in the lobby, but that's pretty normal for European hotels. I would definitely stay here again. Les mer
"Ok if you are not driving"
Although not a particularly cheap hotel it came across as such. The guy on reception was a bit of a surly individual who gave the impression that guests were an inconvenience to his day! The room was small but wellfurnished, the ensuite was the tiniest ever it was not clean and smelt bad (urine). It was ok for two nights,but I'd not bood it again.
"Cheap and cheerful"
My first impression wasn't very good. There was no one behind the counter when we tried to check in. About 5 mins later, a guy with a strange uniform (we thought he was a cleaner) came in with a cup of tea. He was the receptionist. Overall all three receptionists were quite unhelpful. Location is nice, safe and close to the city center, there is a very good cafeteria next to the hotel (coffee to walk). Really good coffee, sandwiches and sweets (the owner is very nice!). "Nice place to stay"
The room was small (and the bathroom even smaller) but this is common in European hotels. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the people working at reception were awesome. It's in a nice area, away from the craziness of the center, but still close enough to walk pretty much anywhere in 10-20 minutes. I definitely recommend staying here.

"Slidt, men godt."
Vi havde et fint weekend ophold på hotel Hampshire Det ligger rigtig fint og gå afstand til det meste. Og ellers stoppede sporvognen lige foran hotellet. Og de kørte hele tiden. Hotellet fremstår slidt. Især gulvtæppet på vores værelse var medtaget. Men ellers et fint og godt hotel til en weekend i Amsterdam. Værelserne er små. Men der er alt hvad man […] behøver. Morgenmad var ok. Ikke imponerende, men der var lidt af det hele. Lidt "skummelt" var det dog at restauranten ligger i kælderen uden vinduer. Men sød og hjælpsom personale opvejede dette. Les mer
