Best pillows!!! so comfortable. For the next four nights my friends kept saying "those pillows the first night were better than these."

Our stay could not have been any better. The staff was so wonderful. The rooms were very clean. and inviting. I love the little x-tras they ad. Great place to stay and I have now found a new place.

Good place to stay- close to do much . Only complaint: fragrance in lobby.

It's very cool that they give you s'mores kits to roast over the fire pit. And the use of bikes for the trails is also a big plus!!!

The heated pool, radiant floors in the bathroom, free movie rentals with a great kids selection, nighttime smores for a snack, and the best hotel beds we've experienced made this a great stay for our whole family. It was also conveniently located close to the outdoor activities we had planned.

Great place to stay if you are splitting time between the wine country and San Francisco. Even though the hotel appeared older, the rooms were nice and the staff was helpful.

We will be back to stay at the Larkspur Inn. Clean, comfortable, easy access to Muir Woods, the city and everything in Marin. We did not experience freeway noise in our room, despite the proximity to 101. And Frantoio restaurant next door was excellent.

Although the location is terrific and the hotel is reasonably priced for the area -- the condition has deteriorated. We've stayed there for years as we are regular visitors to CA (grandkids!), and though we appreciate the healthy breakfast bar and the nearby walking path, we were disappointed with the place this time. Our bed was lumpy and extremely […] uncomfortable and we asked for a fix; when we came back that evening we found they had "turned the mattress," which didn't really help. We were told the mattresses were all replaced about two years ago, but maybe they missed Room 225. Also, the breakfast area was beat-up looking, with upholstery peeling from the chairs... a general air of overuse about the place. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful ... but when you can't sleep comfortably, all else matters little. Les mer

The building was in excellent condition, room very clean and great location for easy access to the highway and to the beach. The pool was perfect even though it was March and mid 50's the kids and I still went for it...nicely heated!! Friendly employees that were very helpful, its a Great place to stay.

I'm almost hesitant to write a good review because I want to keep this secret all to myself. This hotel is very cute. It has been updated recently. There are definitely signs that it use to be an older hotel but Larkspur has put a ton of work and upgrades into it. It's really a beautiful and comfortable hotel. I love that they have complimentary bike […] rentals. They are SO close to the trail that runs along the Bay, and it's such a great spot for an afternoon walk, run or ride. There are also DVD players in each room. They also light up a fire pit at night, and they pass out s'mores kits. YUMMY! To top it all off they have an awesome breakfast spread. People, it's no continental breakfast. They have bread, spreads, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, juices, muffins. There is more than enough to satisfy any palate. Excellent hotel. Perfect location for hiking in Muir Woods, visiting Sausalito and the Marin Headlands. Lots of fun "extras"--free bikes for a bike ride, free s'mores kits for the fire, and a yummy breakfast included with the room cost. HIGHLY recommend the Larkspur Mill Valley. I will be back!!

Adequate but I would call this a motel not a hotel. Very noisy around pool until early hours of morning. Our room backed onto the pool. I had asked for a quiet room

We loved the pool the most -- planted beautifully and clean and heated. Very nice staff, also.

This is a well located hotel. However, there is freeway noise. I loved the use of the bicycle and the hotel's location on the marsh..one can bike or walk...the location is beautiful. The hotel itself needs an uplift. My room, in the back, facing 101 and the marsh, smelled stuffy. The entry and stairwell into the hallway way smelled worse. Can't say […] why, perhaps the rug needs changing out.Other than that, the room was clean and comfortable! I slept well. The Restaurant next door is quite good. Les mer

We stayed one night only due to travel plans, and did not have much time there. Room was quite nice, but bathroom needed some repairs/improvements. Overall, a positive experience. I would stay there again, definitely.

Spent three enjoyable nights at the Larkspur and it perfectly suited my needs. Since I didn't want to drive into San Francisco the Larkspur proved to be the perfect choice. Just a short drive on 101S gets you to the foot passenger to San Francisco and arrives right in front of the tram system which you can take to get to Fishermans Wharf.. Might add […] the parking at the ferry terminal is free which is always a bonus as parking within the city is horrendous. So two of my three days were spent in the city. The restaurant beside the Larkspur is fabulous food is upscale but the atmosphere is casual and very friendly. Everything at the Larkspur was clean, comfortable, friendly and you can build Smores outside at their firepit...doesn't get much better than that! Les mer

This hotel was very up-to-date and the service was very welcoming. The complimentary coffee was a nice touch, particularly because it was a cold and rainy day. It's close to the highway, but you would never know it while you're in the room, as it blocks out any noise, and if you get the right room, you get to stare at the suburbs of Mill Valley on the […] hill. It's close to downtown Mill Valley and within an hour's drive of Napa, not to mention minutes away from the Golden Gate and the entrance to San Francisco. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying by the bay area, but that doesn't want to be in the thick of the city. Check out Mill Valley, it's quaint and beautiful. One last thing I forgot to mention: the hotel is adjacent to a very goodrestaurant that's called the Frantoia, I believe. Room was modern and impeccable. Would visit again! Les mer

Great Hotel. I am a big fan of this hotel. Nice landscape, Good location. Room is a bit small but way bigger than downtown SF.

It's not the most modern interior, or the greatest view, but the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Noise level from lack of insulation is the only major issue. I wear earplugs in hotel rooms, anyway. But for a very economical and convenient overnight, or even an interim weekend, I really recommend the place. It's great as a jump-off or on […] to the road for Muir/Stinson Beaches and beyond. It's 15 minutes or less from the Bridge. There is also a Whole Foods 5 minutes away, and plenty of eateries, cool shops, and other necessities nearby. I actually felt more comfortable here than many of the higher end hotels I've stayed at along the coast and n SF. Having two sinks and a bench made spreading my bathroom gear out easy, which was a real plus! Minifridge stayed cold, room was easily heated, and I slept like a log. Highly recommend. Also, restaurant next door is local/organic/sustainable and presses its own olive oil. Cool deal. Les mer

We LOVED this hotel!! We were looking for a nice place outside the city that was safe and easy to get in and out of. The Larkspur at Mill Valley def met all our expectations, plus some! They offer Smores at their campfire each night-very cool idea! They also offer free bikes to use in the area and are right on a nice looking trail. We didn't have the […] time to do this, but I wish we would have. Great offering by the hotel! They have a movie channel, HBO maybe, but also offer free movies that you can check out at the front desk. Nobody offered them to me, which was a bit irritating, as if I hadn't read about it online, I would have missed out on having a movie to watch as we drifted to sleep. The front desk help was WONDERFUL - so friendly and gave us information on where to eat. The restaurant next door had great food. Request an upper floor room to avoid being near the parking lot, but be aware they have no elevator. There are only 2 stories, so it's not a big deal, but some of the rooms are just feet from cars parking. I felt bad for them when we unloaded at normal volume level at 11pm. I wish we could have stayed at this hotel our entire 3 day visit to San Fran, but it's on the wrong side of the bridge. Les mer

My wife and I have stayed here both before we had kids and recently with our 3 year old and 1 year old. We have never had a bad experience. Check-in and check out we easy and hassle free. The recent renovations are really quite nice. Heated pool is great. Free parking with plenty of spaces. It's an easy drive into SF and the location works for us since […] we have family that lives in Mill Valley. Short drive to Muir Woods, Stinson Beach, etc. Right next to the running path. The breakfast buffet was not to my liking but there was fresh fruit and decent coffee. We have occasionally had noisy neighbors but that can happen anywhere. Les mer

I took a shot in the dark when I made my reservation and was amply rewarded. My stay here was a sheer delight. The people at the front desk (Robert and Desiree) were very welcoming and were of great assistance while I was there. The breakfast was more than adequate. Sorry we missed the S'mores!

Beautiful hotel, great staff, location convenient to exploring Marin County or going to San Francisco.

Very friendly, bed fairly comfortable but fan/ heater is right by bed so if you have it on it is blowing air/ dust on you all night. This is biggest draw back for me. Spacious room.

Convenient. Good location, nice view, close trail for morning walks.

This was a most welcome surprise--a very comfortable hotel that gets all the right details right. Better than lots of 'fancy' places. Stay here.

We attended a weddig on Muir Beach. The Larkspur Hotel was comfortable and convenient. I liked the ourdoor firepit too.

I would stay at this hotel again because of proximity to all the sights, i.e. Larspur Ferry, Golden Gate, Beaches, restaurants, etc. Hotel is older but clean and updated. Breakfast was very good!!

I decided to stay at Mill Valley based on the reviews i read on hotels.com. I was pleasantly surprised to find all the positives i read about were true. I was greeted by a friendly staff after a long day of business appointments. The elixirs at the front desk were amazingly refreshing. Although i didst get a chance to utilize a free bike for the path […] because it was rather close to sunset I was able to walk down the path and enjoy the subtle beauty of the surrounding area. After a quick workout at the fitness room, complete with a few treadmill and dumbells that went up to 50 pounds i went out to eat around town. There are a number of great restaurants in the surrounding area to satisfy your palate whatever you might be in the mood for. Finally, I returned to the room to unwind and prepare for the next day ahead. I was extremely impressed with the audio/visual setup on the flatscreen tv that allows for an hdmi connection for my laptop to stream netflix to the tv. This definitely made my stay even more enjoyable. The small refrigerator combined with comfortable beds really topped things off. I stay at larkspur hotels almost exclusively while in the Bay Area simply because they get it right. Im not sure about this location but i know all the other locations i have stayed at also have free dvd rentals. I would definitely refer a friend and will be returning soon. Les mer

We enjoyed every part of our experience at this hotel. The location was convenient, the rooms were clean and well appointed and the beds were great. We loved the s'mores and the breakfast was perfect.

The hotel was a little hard to locate, but it is in a beautiful backwater location and very nicely landscaped to fit into it's environment. Once there we realized we were only a couple of minutes to the center of the village of Mill Valley. The staff is extremely courteous and the rooms are well appointed, comfortable, and good size. The tv is state […] of the art HGTV and the wifi hook up is robust and FREE. Enjoyed an afternoon dip in the heated pool and jacuzzi, the grounds are well degned and well maintained. We decided to stay here rather than in the city so we could visit Muir Woods and Stinton Beach easily. We loved it! They have free bike rentals, free s'mores and all the other things you would expect from a decent hotel. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff were very friendly. Around 10pm I asked if it was possible to get a box of mini wheats […] they served at the continental breakfast and the guy gave me 3! Super considerate. I will definitely return when in the area. We had an easy stay here. My teenage boys wolfed down the breakfasts (good coffee)! Large room with 2 queensize beds. Crisp sheets & duvets. NO grungy old bedspreads! We did have the s'mores one night but the Graham crackers and marshmallows were stale. Great pool and hot tub for nightly swims.

My mom and sister came to CA to visit and wanted to make Muir Woods and San Francisco part of their trip. Having only stayed in the city or in So SF on previous trips, I set out to find a hotel that would be central to both locations and provide a nice get-away for my family. A quick hop back on the 1N will take you to the Larkspur Ferry to the city, and on the 1S in 20 min you are in Muir Woods. And who could say no to the complementary s'mores in the evening?!?!?
