Hotellet var kjempefint og betjeningen var super! Rengjøring var topp men ettersom vi hadde rom i andre etasje ble vi veldig plaget av gatebråk. Ellers var sengene veldig gode og jeg anbefaler maten i resturanten. Badet likevel var hotellets definitive høydepunkt. Det eneste som var veldig tungvindt var å finne hotellet da det ikke var merket med "Macdonald […] Townhouse Hotel", men "Princess hotel". Derfor slet vi lenge med å finne hotellet. Var nesten ikke trykk på vannet i dusjen, samt at vannet ble helt borte i noen sekunder. Greit å ha kort hår!! Forøvrig et OK hotell med bra rengjøring.

Hotellet er nyoppusset, og standarden på rommet var veldig bra. Hotellet har også skiftet navn, så det var ikke veldig tydelig merket. Obs, når det finnes et hotell til som heter Macdonald, er det viktig å kunne adressen. Taxi til Old Trafford kostet 10 pund, og turen vår var særdeles vellykket.

Veldig fint hotell, litt slitt utenfor kanskje, men rommet var veldig fint. Nydelig bad, og veldig deilig seng. Ikke noe å klage på, god beliggenhet og behjelpelige ansatte.

Meget bra hotell!! Flott rom og super beliggenhet. Kort veg å gå til gode butikker, restauranter og ca 80 kroner med taxi til Old Trafford!! Vi hadde ikke frokost inkludert, så denne valgte vi å spise andre steder, fordi det var mye billigere. Hotellet kan absolutt anbefales!!

Hotellet ligger sentralt og er nyoppusset i 2011. Det het princess on Portland før men har skiftet navn. Rommene er bra og servicen er god. Det er ikke Minibar på hotellrommet, men det er døgnåpent i baren nede i resturanten.

- små rom - ingen hjalp oss med bagasjen opp - ingen minibar - generelt fårlig service: bestilte suppe opp på rommet, halvparten av suppen lå igjen på brettet - ingen room-service menu på rommet, ba om å få en opp, mottok det aldri, måtte ned å hente det - ingen badekåper - trengte vasket noen klær, spurte resepsjonen, de hadde ingen alternativer for […] å løse problemet, viste seg siden at man kunne sende klær på rens via hotellet GENERELT DÅRLIG SERVICE! Men fint hotell, fint design, fint bad, gode myke senger, og fin beliggenhet, så hadde muligens valgt samme hotell igjen.... Les mer

kjempekoselig rom, litt klamt på rommet, da airconditionen ikke var den beste. badet var kjempefint med badekar og stor dusj . mye ellers på hotellet fungerte ikke slik som ringeklokken ved inngangsdøra eller kjøleskapet i baren på hotellet. sitter igjen med litt blandet følelse. fordi servicen var kjempegod !

Hotellet ligger veldig sentralt til . Litt dyr frokost, men det er jo relativt. Fint rom, men kaldt på badegulvet som er flisebelagt. Gratis internett. Anbefales

Etter vi hadde bestilt opphold på Princess on Portland i Manchester, leste vi noen anmeldelser på nettsiden om hotellet. Det var svært mange dårlige anmeldelser, noe vi ikke kan fatte og begripe!!! Hotellet er helt nyoppusset( vårt opphold var fra 16-19 september 2010) Badene er stilig. Med speil på alle veggene, svarte marmorfliser, bollevask, vegghengt […] toalett og håndkletørker. Utrolig stilfult! Selve hotellrommet var dekorert med stilige møbler, et svært maleri på veggen og hadde store vinduer. Med andre ord var det et lyst og trivelig rom. Vi var på shopping-/ fotballreise. Hotellets beliggenhet var perfekt! Det var 5 min gange til en av de største shoppingsentrene i Europa, Arndale. Her finner man butikker fra River Island, Next, TopShop osv osv. Like utenfor finner du Zara, Guess, Gucci, Lacost osv. Ellers finner du alt fra eksotiske restauranter og uteliv like i nærheten (det var ingen støy) Når det gjelder å komme seg til Old Trafford, tok det ca 10 min med taxi og vi betalte under en hundrelapp for to personer. Great location in central Manchester perfect if you like Canal Street. Usual high standard from this chain of Hotels. Only criticism would de not enough heat in the room. Only a small radiator and Air Con blew out cool air even at 32 degrees

We spent all of 8 hours in the hotel, that was for a sleep. Other than a quirky entrance for reception (not easy for some with heavy baggage) all was well. Breakfast at £15.50each a tad expensive

Bathrooms very dark.

Staff are friendly and location is great. The Manchester free shuttle has a bus stop right outside the hotel. Room amenities are everthing I want: free wifi, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, shower cap, power shower, bath with detachable shower head, beakers, tea and coffee and biscuit, comfy bed, iron and ironing board, hangers with trouser pegs. […] The only complaint is that my room is right next to the lift lobby and is a bit noisy. very good ... parking is an issue

Awake all night by this nightclub that seems to be underneatht he hotel. Rang down to reception to complain but said they could do nothing only swap our room (this was at 2am and we were in bed so weren't really in teh mood to get up and move!) Would definately recommend the Premier Inn on the same street for half the price and same comforts.

All in all a good hotel the location in the centre of Godmanchester was excellent and hotel staff were also excellent but i was a bit disappointed with the Excecutive suite as it was just 2 single beds pushed together and that is always a let down and my wife and i travel to different hotels alot for one or two night experiences.

We booked this hotel for a birthday mini break, parked at the nearby Qpark for discounted parking. Friendly staff and nicely designed rooms. Great central location quick drink at Browns and then meal at Hard Rock Cafe. Back to hotel bar for at 1am for nice relaxed atmosphere and Irish coffees! Would definitely reccommend!

The hotel was of a really high standard. the room i had however was overlooking the main road which was a little busy. noise from Canal St could be heard just around the corner. despite that, the room was very nice, lovely bathroom and excellent location. The price was difficult to beat too.

Excellent staff, great room. Very clean, well-stocked (plenty of teabags, coffee, milk etc.). Fantastic bathroom design. The whole room was very well decorated, contemporary, clean, welcoming. The hotel is on the corner, a few minutes' walk to Piccadilly Gardens and the shops at the Arndale Centre, and 10 minutes' walk to Manchester Picadilly train […] station. It's also right up the road from Canal Street for its many bars and great nightlife. The only complaint I would have is that the room service breakfast doesn't say anywhere that the charge is per person, which was a bit of a shock when we came to check-out and pay! i have stayed in the Hotel before and it was as good this time as it was before The rooms are very good and well appointed Having WiFi is a bonus The location is pretty central for Manchester Town Centre and all of its attractions The only downside was that Breakfast is very expensive - there are lots of other options nearby though

We stayed at the MacDonald Townhouse for the first time in March this year. It was a Friday, just one night after a concert. We came back to the hotel about 11pm and afte a couple of drinks in the bar we went to bed. We hardly slept as this hotel is on a main busy road, with a few late bars nearby, chippy and kebab places, and there was so much noise […] from people in the street all night, and traffic - it sounded like a saturday afternoon! Inside it was very nice and clean, the staff were very pleasant but would not stay again or recommend it. Sorry but have stayed at lots of MacDonald hotels and are always impressed with the high standard, and this is let down badly by its location. Les mer

The hotel was fine if hard to locate with poor signs outside. However room 116 was too small and like a sauna. Aircon was useless an no opening window meant we were so hot it was unpleasant. Queen size bed also too small. Other rooms may be better but we were disappointed.

found the hotel eventually, walked past it twice, as signed the princess on portland, if you look up small stickers in window saying macdonald townhouse, i asked reception about this and they claimed were having trouble with the council getting it changed, reption did apologise lots, as they get it often i think, checked in, and room didnt have a bath […] (my preference) , stated rooms did, i rang reception and they changed it to a really nice room with bath, and service in bar was great and barman was really helpful, all in all now i can finfd it i would stay again, only 10 min walk from picadilly, Les mer

a great weekend was enjoyed hear at this fab hotel. the location was perfect for our needs and the staff bent over backwards to make it a very enjoyable time.highly recomended

Conveniently placed hotel in Manchester city centre, but we stayed on a Friday night and found it hard to sleep due to the noise on the street, the nearby nightclubs stay open late and our room felt like it was right outside! Followed by the bin men a couple of hours later, this was a very unsettled stay! When mentioned to reception they advised to […] request a room on the 'quiet side' of the hotel! we were driving up and down the road for about two and a half hours looking for the McDonald Hotel Portland Street, we couldnt find it as another hotel sign was on the front of the hotel, saying Alexander, so we werent very relaxed on arrival, we were up-graded to another suite. Had an executive double with a really good rate. Room was gorgeous and clean, but would have thought it would have been bigger being executive, not sure what size normal rooms would have been. Bathroom amazing, monsoon shower and seperate bath. Lights in room quite dull but not the end of the world. Managed to find hotel okay but only because previous […] reviews informed us that the sign outside still says Princess on portland so knew to look for it. Entrance not signposted McDonald Hotel, but has a different sign. We found it due to the street number. Once we found hotel, nice hotel. Room we had was overlooking Portland Road, so noisy even on the 3rd Floor (traffic noise). This aside, the room was nice, the bathroom decor and power shower 1st class. One of the nicest hotel bathrooms weve seen. […] Handy for theatre, bars and shoping. A little expensive per night as you dont get breakfast, but there is a Wetherspoons and Yates nearby where you can get full breakfast. Overall, a good hotel and would stay again. Les mer

Hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendley. would reccomend the hotel for a shopping trip but just try get a room at the front of the hotel as its a bit back in the back rooms, but it was good for sleeping !.

we were told to park in the piazza by reservation staff, which was helpful. They did not tell us however, that there is no signage on the hotel as yet. in the dark and the rain, looking for a hotel without a sign was not a great experience. Nice spot bang in centre of Manchester & suprisisngly affordable nonetheless. Right next to Chinatown district. Ideal for short break or overnight stop for a night out there. Note to hotel - GET A SIGN PUT UP ON PORTLAND ST side - its a nightmare to find !

The best hotel I've stayed in in Manchester by quite some margin. Thoughtful additions in the room, lovely clean and well designed rooms and lounge areas. Really enjoyed the stay and as a regular visitor to Manchester, will be stopping here again!

Nice hotel in a good location which we stayed in for one night in Oct 11. We were going to the MEN arena which was a 10-15 minute walk away. The hotel was recently refurbished and the staff were very helpful, checking us in despite us arriving two hours early. Only minor complaint was that as our room was on the top floor the water pressure in the […] shower was poor, and at times the water flow stopped completely for a few seconds. We had an excellent four nights at your hotel,however one gentleman on reception was not that helpful to our enquiries.

We stayed for a second time at the end of september. We think this is an excellent hotel. The staff are great and the comfort of the beds is second to none. We will definitely return.

overall hotel was clean but tv in room didnt work and the shower flooded the bathroom floor when telling a member of staff wasnt very helpfull said they would look at problem wen i returned to room tv still didnt work and towels had been put on the bathroom floor!! also on arrival to the hotel we really struggled to find it the hotel had changed its […] name and they hadnt let us no !! Very comfortable, courteous staff. Difficult to find however, as no obvious signs on outside of building - taxi driver had not heard of it.

Great hotel for central Manchester. Newly renovated and with an excellent bistro.

The hotel was lovely I would definitely stay again, although would probably request a room away from the main road as it was quite noisy through the night/ morning with the traffic.
