There is no better location for the F1 weekend; subway just cross the street, one stop to the circuit; six stops to Montreal downtown; but hotel has no restaurant - just breakfast buffet for $ 20 / person; ideal for the out of town racing fans, otherwise ...

We were attending the Grand Prix and found the location and staff service to be excellent! Definitely booking my rooms at the Sandman for next years Grand Prix! Only issue was the bed, too hard, but that's me I prefer a soft bed and have requested one for next year and the hotel told me they will try to accommodate me! Very pleased!

The light in the bathroom was too bright!Going to the bathroom at night and turning on the light because it was dark all around makes you dizzy for a few seconds!!!

this hotel is right next to metro and the ride to downtown 10 minutes...lovely room on 16th floor with view of the river and city....bonus is free parking which is great to leave the car at Sandman and travel all over Montreal by Metro

The hotel is very conveniently located just opposite the metro station which connects to almost all the places in Montreal. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the room service was pretty thorough. The wifi was fast and easy to connect to. On a positive note, hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating - great job! Also the rate we paid was fairly economical given the proximity to Montreal proper. The hotel itself however feels tired and in need of updates. (take note Sandman Corporate) Peeling wallpaper & paint, damaged furniture, broken ice machine, discarded TV depot in the hallway […] (!) etc... It seemed there were shortcomings at virtually every turn. Example: we primarily booked at this hotel so our young daughter could use the indoor pool which we found was not functioning upon check in. On the last day of our stay, when it reopened, the water was freezing cold rendering the pool unusable. Try explaining that to a four year old?! Room repairs being performed on the floor above made spending time in your room during the day unbearable. At night it was the relentless highway traffic noise that kept our family awake. Although the Sandman appears close to MTL on a map their location is very difficult to navigate at first and traffic on the JC bridge adds considerable time and stress to your trip into the city. I would advise travellers to pay the extra money to be located in the city and stay at a hotel that is more updated with amenities that function when you pay for them. Les mer

Was there for 2 nights with Kids, Front desk guys/gals were very friendly. Right next to Metro (Subway) so very convenient to get to downtown if you hate driving and parking. Inside the Bus terminal many places to eat so explore as the nearest decent restaurants is 10 min drive. The room was fairly clean except, I found nail clipping in my 'clean' bed.

...but not great. The check in staff member was unaccommodating. He would not take my credit card which has chip and pin technology even though that is the most secure. He wanted an imprint of my card. When I told him I had no other options, he made me pay cash which was refunded later. He could have just charged my credit card the same amount as the […] cash. He was really terrible and if I hadn't pre-paid, I would have gone somewhere else. The hotel itself is old, and could use a makeover, but is fine overall. It's located right beside the subway terminal, so getting downtown is pretty easy and cheaper than parking downtown. Les mer

located beside a metro station that takes you to old montreal. Hotel staff are pleasent and helpful. The room itself is average. Free parking is a bonus.

Great all around stay the only caveat would be the rudeness of the restaurant waitstaff after she heard us speaking english . The front desk staff made up for that with their professionalism .

The location was convenient, although took some time to figure out how to get out of the complex with all the one way streets. Only complaint is the wi-fi service; it was sporadic and slow. Otherwise a nice, safe hotel with a lovely view of the river.

Great location and free parking. Metro is just next door. The room is clean and comfortable, though slightly outdated. I think it is good value.

Comfortable, convenient place to stay. The kids had fun in the pool. Continental breakfast at $9 a person is expensive so we asked hotel staff if there was anything else around. They suggested a place quite far but we realised if you just go into the subway station there is a Tim Horton's right there.

First time we've stayed at this hotel and last. Too close to 2 major highways and at times difficult to merge onto highway. It snowed for 2 full days along with freezing rain and the parking lot was not cleaned. Bathroom door would not stay closed. No fan in bathroom. Created a sauna in room. Pool area was very dark and water was cold.

Had an intencive University week end next door. Saved a few hours on the road and relaxed in a comfortable upgraded room.Couldn't have been better!

Not happy. I had work to do and so needed to eat in my room. There is no room service to I had to carry a tray with my dinner from the restaurant to my room. For the price charged there should be room service.

The hotel is very well and comfortable for a reasonable price. Because the corridor is not soundproof, we can hear some people who think they are alone in the hotel by slamming doors or shouting. But, I will go again because it’s very easy to travel in the city with the subway just beside the hotel.

This is the fourth or fifth time that I have stayed at this hotel. Reason being the location was convenient, the rates are reasonable and it had a few of the necessary amenities that I needed to make my stay enjoyable. Unfortunately, this last visit really burnt my biscuit. You see every time I go there is something missing. First time it was finding […] out that the restaurant had limited hours and did not provide room service. Another time it was discovering that the pool was out of order due to some issue. This time though it was a combination of things that makes me rethink coming back. Upon arrival there was no "welcome back" from the front desk. I've been there 5x. Come on! That is customer service 101. Get to the room (which is nice with a decent view) only to discover a less than stellar cleaning job, No coffee pot, bath robe and half used toiletries still in the bathroom. Also. the ice machine on my floor was broken, Which is a bummer but the fact that there was note to indicate the fact just made me livid. Common courtesy. Lastly, the restaurant was closed. I presumed it was due to the holiday. Now since I have been here before and I know that the restaurant has off hours I bring several meals with me so I'm not bothered with trekking out to find a meal. But jeez! Send out an email when booking the room that the restaurant is going to be closed for 10+ days!!! Its small things like this combined with past in-fractures that makes me rethink a return visit. Convenient place to stay, comfortable beds. Continental breakfast offered a good selection at a reasonable price. Free parking is great with easy access to Montreal by a short metro trip, station is in the building next door.

It was a nice stay,clean and comfortable but not fabulous. it was far from everything except metro station so I didn't like the location. the worst thing was breakfast. it was awful!

Ok for the price, but seems a bit run down. The heat wasn't working in the pool room, so swimming was uncomfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful though.

Sadly, I had to stay at the Sandman because of the death of my father. On the other hand, the hotel was VERY well situated and VERY comfortable. I was grateful for the service I received. On one evening, the room was slightly too warm when I walked in, but this is too trivial to worry about. Would I recommend the Sandman? Our room was clean and tidy. However upon booking we booked smoking room and when we arrived and went to check in we were told we had to pay another fee for the smoking room. When I confirmed the reservation we were told that we had booked and paid in full for two queen beds and a smoking room. Once we paid for the upgrade we were informed that we would […] no longer have two queen beds we now had a king and a pull out couch. NOT WHAT WE HAD BOOKED!
