The Hotel was easy to find. Checking in was easy. The room doors were too close together and it was super noisy. We were on the bottom floor and it was loud. Also on the end so we had roaring winds the whole trip. The tub was sandy when we arrived. I know it was not cleaned prior to checking in. The staff was constantly slamming doors all hours of the […] day and night.The breakfast room was tiny and they were not able to handle the amount of guest they had. The Best West Western Ocean Reefs Suites was very comfortable and offered more amenities in the room than we needed for just an overnight stay. I would definitely stay here again for a longer vacation as it offered plenty of room to cook and relax in separate spaces. It was clean and well-maintained. The hotel has great views, lots of amenities, and the rooms are very clean. We had a wonderful two night stay.

the rooms need an upgrade

First we liked the name. as we need a true Suite when traveling with our two children, ages 7 & 4 yrs.This hotel has a full bedroom w/tv and another room w/balcony that faced the ocean. Although the dunes were a little high we coud still see the beach. There is a seperate full bath, w/shower in tub and another area just outside the door of it, that […] has a mirror and lavatory, this really helps when four people are trying to get ready to go out. They have a very nice breakfast, featuring eggs, waffles, sausage gravy, biscuits, sweeet rolls, juices,milk, coffee, cereals, both dry and hot, when mixed with hot water, and prorobably more that I can't remember. All of the staff were very freindly and efficient, room was very clean and towels and other items were exchanged every day if desired. Sheets were clean when we arrived and changed on second day. The room facing the ocean has table w/four chairs, plenty of lamps, a couch, and a Murphy bed,and also has a Large Tv. These accomodations just suited our needs. Internet serviced is available, via ethernet cable, which they supply at front desk. Althougth this Hotel is not very new, it is in very good condition and it is kept very clean.. I would love to stay here again, we plan to try get back to area in Summer. M&J & kids Les mer

We booked two suites in the off season; the rates were very reasonable. I had an ocean view, but had to walk to the beach from the front of the hotel--small inconvenience. The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable. I would stay there again, especially in the off season. I am not sure how this hotel gets a 3 star with such an overwhelming reviews. We booked the hotel after reading the reviews, but the hotel failed to meet our expectation. It is possible that the other hotels in this area are even worse and that's why this hotel gets a better rating. Overall, the hotel rooms are not bad, but the corridors, elevators, […] common places are very shabby. Free breakfast was fine. The surrounding area is pretty dull--it was my fault that I didn't realize that kills devils is quite far from kitty hawk. Les mer

i would recommend this hotel and in fact plan to stay here again. Rooms, although older, were very clean and comfortable and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.

We will be booking this hotel for our vacation in Nags Head next year :)

We enjoyed our suite a lot. We stayed poolside, which allowed us to keep an eye on our teenagers from the balcony (good sized) while they were in the pool. The pool was clean and well maintained. The sauna was ideal. Some parents needed to control their little ones better, but that is no reflection on the hotel. Being close to the beach was wonderful […] and the water was cleaner and warmer than what we are used to in Maryland/Delaware. The continental breakfast was just a continental breakfast, nothing to write home about, but we supplemented the breads with eggs and bacon using our stove. Two sinks in the bathroom was great. I could use one while my kids used the other. The only complaint was that the vending machines didn't seem to work well and we had to go to the 4th or 5th floor to get to one. We put money in, and nothing happened several times. We were able to get our coins back though. We could see the Wright Memorial (well lit at night) from the hallway on the soundside of the hotel. The building isn't brand-new, but the rooms are clean. The kitchen is small, but much better than eating out. Cooking shrimp takes hardly time or effort, but saves so much money. My family and I had no complaints with the facility for the most part. We had a great room. The hotel is all suites with the bedrooms at the front and the living area in the rear, facing the ocean. The living area also has a Murphy bed and a sleeper sofa, so it would hold lots more than the three of us. The kitchenette came in handy, since we could […] then take doggie bags home from the restaurants at night and warm them for lunch the next day, saving us some cash. Our room was on the top floor, with a magnificent view of the pool area and the beach. We were also far enough away from nearby rental homes that we felt we had plenty of privacy. The only real complaints come from housekeeping and maintenance. They didn't change the linens, merely made the beds. Towels were changed daily, but I noticed that the toilet wasn't cleaned during our stay (incriminating stain under the seat all week), although the tub and sinks looked clean. The sliding door to the patio was really hard to open; it either had sand in the tracks (imagine!) or needed new wheels. They did vacuum the room daily. If you bring your computers, bring an ethernet cable with you. Internet access is NOT wireless! We thought we were connecting to their network, when we were actually hooking up to a nearby unsecured network nearby. When we finally asked about the iffy connection, they told us we needed to connect via cable. They offer the cables for free, with a ten dollar deposit, and there are not enough for everyone (we got the last one). Breakfast is nothing special: cold cereals, yogurt, Sara Lee type danishes, and coffee and milk. Friday they offered sausage gravy and prepared scrambled egg portions (preformed). Plan on splurging and going out for breakfast at least one day; there's a great pancake joint a short drive away. The pool was well maintained. Our vacation at the end of June was wonderful. Hotel right on the beach. Full oceanview on dune side if you are 2nd floor or higher, right beside the lifeguard station, easy access to the beach. Great sandwich shop in the Stop n Shop gas station across the street. Very centrally located to Jockey Ridge, Duck/Corrolla area. Staff very friendly and helpful, […] room very spacious, much bigger than expected, had everything we needed, nice balcony, living room, kitchen with frig, stove, microwave, dishes, silverware, comfortable beds, tv in living room and bedroom. The hotel was old and showed signs of wear. It was clean and on the beach with few other options for a one-night stay nearby.

An older place that could probably use a little sprucing up, but it must be difficult to maintain with a constant barrage of sand, salt, and suntan oil. But, by and large, comfortable, surprisingly quiet, nice staff, and a magnificent location. A nice convenience store right across the street. And a few blocks up on busy 158 you can find every fast […] food place known to man - many of them open 24 hours. We had a suite, ocean side with a balcony. We were wary before we came, but were pretty impressed with this BW after our stay. We arrived much earlier than we had planned, and rather than turning us away since our room wasn't ready, the hotel manager offered to let us shower and change in the exercise room upstairs, and go ahead and get our parking pass at the hotel. While the rooms were a little […] old, nothing was in bad condition at all. Our suite was quite spacious, and even had an extra Murphy bed fold-out we didn't know about. Our room would have been excellent for a family. Our first floor room was also right next to the beach entrance, which was perfect. Convenience and price made this a great place to stay! Have seen this hotel on prior visits to OBX and because of it's central and oceanfront location decided to book our one night visit there. When making the reservation I did read the posted reviews and was somewhat concerned regarding the actural conditions. There was no need to worry. From check in to check out the staff was friendly and helpful. Our […] room, which was a suite, was spacious, tastefully decorated and spotless. The bed linens appeared to be new as did the towels (of which there was an overabundance). The carpeting was clean and fresh and the room did not have that damp feel as so often happens in beach front hotels. We were pleased with the accomodations and had a quiet nights stay. The continental breakfast was adequate and offered in a pleasant setting. This is a hotel we would look forward to returning to. Les mer

The hotel is located right on the beach, which is perfect. It's an older hotel that needs some upgrades, but it's in a great location and it was a good value. There is a great convenience store across the street with everything from fishing gear, flip flops, shirts, food, deli and drinks. I would stay here again.

Lots of space for family. Murphy bed,kitchenette and porch a plus. Breakfast nice and service great.

This hotel was great. The room size was exceptional. It was convenient to have a kitchen, bathroom and separate living area. My only recommendation is to not be by the elevator.

Stay away from this dump!! Old hotel - Badly in need of repairs and updating. Dirty public areas!! How this place gets three stars is beyond me!! And they charge out the whazoo!

We stayed at this hotel this past weekend. Because it was April, the rate was wonderful and we were not sure what to expect. The room was nicely decorated, the staff friendly and the view of the dunes just outside our room was incredible! I would stay there again anytime!

We were a a little disappointed that the pool hadn't yet been open and that the hot tub was closed for repair. But we had a nice room with a great view of the ocean at a fair price.

We had a wonderful stay. The room was spotless with a well-equipped kitchenette, comfortable bedroom, roomy livingroom with a great pull-down Murphy bed and a balcony overlooking the ocean. Hotel staff was friendly and gave a recommendation of a nearby local spot for dinner. The breakfast was included in the price of the room and we thoroughly enjoyed […] the selection of cereal, baked goods, yogurt, fruit, scrambled eggs/biscuits/gravy. I have stayed here multiple times and hotel is always my first choice on Outer Banks. Always clean, staff pleasant and helpful, close to favorite activities. Good value for the money. Suite easily accommodates desire to prep own meals so I can get out to birdwatch & kayak without worrying about finding food at odd hours/ keeps costs down.

Very nice and reasonably priced. The rooms are real suites with separate bedroom. We had a balcony looking over the pool to the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is only about a mile from the entrance to the Wright Bros memorial. A nice Store/Deli/Gas Station is across the street - very convenient for incidentals and a quick meal […] or ice for the cooler. Les mer

This is an older building but is very well maintained and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is perfect right on the beach and near good restaurants. It has a pool (and hot tub) for those days when the ocean isn't cooperating. I would not stay any place else

We had a lovely time during our stay. The location right on the beach is great, and the rooms are spacious. The rates are a little high, but that's to be expected at a beach hotel. The living area was nice to have, and the beds were very comfortable. There wasn't too much noise.

Overall, suite was nice. Would recommend only ocean view, and if you plan to use internet, bring your own ethernet cable.

Overall we had a good experience. The hotel is aging, it could use some renovations. Don't bother trying the free continental breakfast. There are a lot of good breakfast spots in the area. I recommend "Stack'em high". The most important reason for choosing this hotel was its location. No need to cross the street, just walk over some dunes and you are […] at the beach. We took a room for 4 adults and 2 children. The foldaway bed was comfortable (more than one of the double beds, in my opinion). The hotel is next to the beach, which is nice when you're with kids. Overall, it's a good-value hotel.

More than just comfortable. It was like our own home away from home. Extremely friendly staff! Overall a very relaxed stay.
