Pris i forhold til produkt er excellent++. Svært bra bakeri, samt imponerende nydelig frokost/lunsj-sted rett over gaten, ved vinutsalget. Kun 800 meter fra T-bane (BART) med direkteforbindelse til San Francisco og begge byens flyplasser. Hyggelig villastrøk på veien til T-banen, med naboer som hilser.

Sel vom hotellet ligger i det som i Berkeley anses som et mindr ebra område var det helt ok. Faktisk skjedde en del positivt rundt der. Tok hotellet fordi jeg skulle være der i 14 dager og stelle litt selv. Var bare ett rom med en kaffemaskin og et kjøleskap. Internett var ok, men det var langt unna det jeg trodde. Helt grei plassering med buss rett over gata, helt grei kvalitet på rommet for en veldig billig penge og helt fantastisk kvalitet på personalet! Anbefales!

This property was very nice. Quaint would best describe. Well mainatained pre WWII Hote;/motel. Nice neighborhood within walking distance of stores and boutique restaurants.

I booked the hotel through hotels.com and researched transportation to and from the San Francsiso Airport. It was great! We had one transfer from the airport BART staion to the North Berkely Station and arrived in about 45 minutes. Taxis were waiting outside the BART station so we decided to grab a cab as this was our first visit and we weren't sure […] exactly where the hotel was. Perfect location! you can walk to the BART station in about 10 minutes and there is a shuttle right to Golden Gate Fields from there.. The hotel is older but very quaint, clean and the staff were great - thanks to Paul who explained that the Phillips(?) Street BART Station dropped us off in San Fancisco at the trolley station - rode the trolley right to fishermans wharf! We will be back, Golden Gate Fields is an awesome racetrack and the Golden Bear (aka america's best) is the perfect spot! A lovely wine merchant is just across the street and a great cafe with a garden courtyard is a block away. Fine dining is availabe in the Fourth street area just a short walk away. We were traveling between Richmond and Emeryville primarily and this was a perfect location. Easily accessible from the highway or side streets. Very retro and cute place to stay. Tons of restaurants nearby.

Hotel was fine. Close to Amtrak...

This is a terrific place for the price. Very Clean, funky well kept rooms. comfortable beds. Very affordable. Walls are a little thin but other guests were very quiet when I was there. This place uses old school heaters which they place right by the bathroom so in the middle of the night when you stumble to use the restroom you get first and second degree burns from barely touching it as you walk by. the shower is disgusting and the place is very hard to find. the area is dangerous and slummy. The walls are a little thin but all-up it's a very nice place to stay for the price.

It is old-school. I don't need more than it offers. It has courteous people working there, microwave, refridgerator, flat screen, eco concious, and coffee. The lights could be brighter but they are saving energy. The downside is the walls are thin. Your experience depends on your neighbors consideration. I love this place. It's a motel, which I prefer over a hotel. You can park for free right outide your door. It's like having your own little funky studio apartment. The only thing I didn't like was that there was only a shower stall, no bathtub.

very cool, clean & charming. we were pleasantly surprised with everything. we stayed on halloween night to see a show at the greek theater. we asked the front desk to reccomend a good pizza place and cab company. the pizza was good & the cab was right on time during a very busy night. we kept the cab card and called later (this is halloween night mind […] you, almost impossible to flag down a cab after 11pm) but we called and said we were staying at this hotel, and she said "no problem!" and picked us up in front of a downtown church, and was very VERY cool. so two thumbs up for this hotel & their cab company, best in berkeley. Scary neighborhood...clean but not updated....yukky beds, refrig. that is not cold. Just kinda gross. Staff was very very nice.

I stayed five nights. the location is far from downtoen Berkeley, but if use the BART there is north Berkeley station less than ten minutes walk from this hotel. The hotel is located silent area because a little bit away from university av. which is main street, if you do not expect too much the price and hotel facility are no problem.

Its not the Ritz, but was clean, comforable and convenient to where we wanted to go. Everyone was very nice and the rates were good.

This hotel was much better then I expected for the price we paid/some of the reviews. Perfect location if you're going to a punk show at 924 Gilman. Would stay here again!

Great Location, clean rooms, and the Manager is awesome! The beds were a little "springy" but I ended up sleeping just fine - so not too much of a negative. Loved having the fridge and microwave in the room - and with the Acme Bakery right across the street - WOW! Surely a place I would recommend for folks with OK with a motel vibe.

We had a wonderful experience at The Golden Bear Inn. The room was perfectly nice, the location convenient to spend time with my family in Berkeley, the staff very pleasant and helpful, and the way the hotel is positioned it felt safe. Picked this hotel online not really knowing the neighborhood of Berkeley that I had selected. It was only for one night and I thought from the online photos it looked fine. The room property reminds me of the a couple of motels I've seen in scary movies. It was older and run down. The room was tidy but needed serious updating. The beds screamed "bed […] bugs" so I slept on my own sleeping bag on top of the bedspread. The worst part was the neighborhood. There were sirens constantly on the busy road in front of the hotel. Then at about 2am, there were people right outside our window blasting hard core rap and talking/laughing loudly for about an hour. This kept me, my husband, and our two boys from getting much sleep. With so many sirens and activity throughout the night, I worried about the car. We did feel glad when morning came and we could leave and luckily our car was not broken into. Les mer

although this is an older establishment it has been upgraded and is comfortable and reasonable. This is not a 4 or 5 star location, so if you are looking for fancy this is not for you, but if you want a reasonoably priced and reasonable comfort give them a try. Name of hotel made me confusing .. It was the bear hotel instead Americas best value. We checked in very late and they did not reserve our queen -single beds room, instead gave us a queen bed.. Building was a little old ... Terrible pull out they set up for extra..

This motel was great! Friendly staff, comfy, nice t.v., Acme Bread Company across the street for fresh bread and excellent coffee at Cafe Fanny, pet friendly, and my UCA capoeira school just down the walkable tree-lined street. Nice to walk around, close to freeways and spots to drive to. Will stay here again in the fall.

The staff is friendly and the place is in a very quiet area. Parking is easy to find.

This hotel doesn't look like somewhere you'd want to stay from the outside, but the surrounding hotels looked a lot worse! The neighborhood is a little sketchy and I was a little nervous going out after dark but I was told this was the better area to stay in. The hotel room was a decent size and set up quite quaint. Will stay again

I would recomend this hotel only if you are on a tight budget and you need a cheap place to stay. Everything was clean but the facilities can use some mayor restoration and remodeling. Walls a paper thin. Personel is very friendly.

i chose this hotel because i'm a traveling college student and it was cheap. the room was taken care of and you could tell that they put thought into the room despite it being a tad bit old. the hot water in the shower was testy, which was my only complaint (and it isn't much of a complaint). the bart train station was a 10 min walk and there were lots […] of chain and local restaurants nearby so you could always find what you wanted within a 15 min walk. overall i would stay there again because i felt safe and it was one of the only cheap motels that i haven't been disgusted by. i give it a 5/4 considering the price. The location is a twenty-minute walk to the race track (or about five minutes, if you're driving). Major bus lines, both east-west and north-south are just a few steps from your door. BART train station is about a ten-minute walk away, so you can get to and from either major airport easily, and to San Francisco. Enterprise Rent-a-Car is a block away. The […] hotel is attractive and fairly well maintained, but it is old and the walls are thin, so you hear every cough, giggle and squeak from the rooms next door. The bathroom could have been in much better condition, particularly the area around and under the sink. Plenty of free parking. Parking lot is very noisy at night--seems to be a neighborhood hangout. The front desk closes between midnight and 8am, and no regular maintenance people are on duty at any time. Good luck getting any problems fixed, especially late at night. It is nice having a refrigerator and microwave in the room, but the microwave in my room was on its last legs--turntable is broken. It would be really nice if there were a trash bin located somewhere on the premises, so that meal leftovers don't have to stay in the room until morning. But there isn't one.
