"Perfect location..."
Firstly, this hotel is perfectly located. MBJ Airport is within walking distance, Negril is an hour away, Dunns River is 1.45 away, souvenir shops right down the street, Magaritaville is a 5 minute walk. -----Secondly, it's all inclusive; drink and eat as much and as often as you like. ------ Thirdly, the facilities are great; 2 pools, a sauna, 3 beach […] locations, 3 bars, a nightclub, a sauna, a massage parlour, tour services on site, ---- Fourtly, the activities; I'm an action junkie, so kayaking, sailing and the jet skis (available upon request at a cost) were my thing. Most of the money I spent was on the jet skis... I just had to get my daily dose for those 6 days ---- Fifthly, the staff is great; friendly, helpful and playful! --- My only problem was the slow cleaners in the morning... they took forever to clean those rooms. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Grounds always clean. Excellent front desk staff and security. Great location, 5 mins from Montego Bay airport. I have been to 5 star resorts which were not as groomed and clean. Pool and Sauna always clean, as well as the eating and bar area. I stress clean because that's what's important for me when I travel. […] Entertainment crew was okay, not great but not bad. I won't speak on the food because I've never really liked anything but breakfast on any resort. I'm a picky eater so can't put that on the hotel. Rooms were clean and current. Only issue was the beds were a little soft; again could just be a personal preference. After a while, the AC leaked and wet the floor, I just turned it off for a bit and place a towel to catch the water - problem solved. Kitchen staff and bartenders were very friendly and attentive; they are good at remembering you and your previous orders. Security made me feel safe and protected. Hotel Management acknowledges repeat customers and honors them by planting trees in their names and handed out plaques. It was a little private gathering with champagne held for them, showed appreciation.. I would certainly return again and recommend it to my Family and friends if they wanted a nice stay at a decent price. Location! Location! Location! Les mer

"Decameron Montego Bay"
The Decameron is a very good place to stay as long as you actually expect a three star hotel and not more. The food is excellent, the rooms are clean, the staff is very friendly, except the people at the front desk could be more helpful. Checking in is a nightmare. We booked more than 6 months ago and when we arrived late during the evening, the had […] no hotel room for us at all. We ended up staying the night in my sister and brother-in-law's room. The saving factor here was "Dane" who did everything in his power to help. He even got an extra bed. The front desk blames this on lack of communication between them and the travel agency, but I am of the opinion that they always overbook and then try to transfer the extra guests to their other hotels. "Royal Decameron Montego - Be Careful"
Although we booked our hotel almost two months before our check in date, we had a horrendous check in process. The check in service told us that despite us having had a reservation for as long as we did, they had no tools available and would have to ship is to their sister hotel 50 min away. After demanding the staff to give us information on the sister […] hotel, they had no website to show us, and instead showed us images on the computer using a google image query of "Super Fun Resorts". Once we told them that was unacceptable and to either give is our money back or give us a room at where we booked our reservation originally, they "found a way" to get a room for us there. Once we were accommodated the stay wasn't too bad. The food wasn't anything special but wasnt too bad for the relative value of the hotel. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. However, we had a bad taste in our mouths for the whole trip due to the check in process. If you do decide to book your stay here make sure you call in advance to make sure they actually have a room for you. The main lady at the front office Chrisann was very sweet and was one of the few bright spots of the hotel. Les mer

We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay at Royal Decameron, MBJ. Food was good, lots of choices from fruits, meats and veges, etc. Plenty of outdoor activities to choose from including watersports! "Good for the price but you get what you pay for"
My gf and I arrived and were immediately told (after spending about 12 hours traveling already to get there) that they had "maintenance" cough*overbooked*cough issues and had to transfer us to their sister property in runaway bay, which was an hour away. They gave us an immediate shuttle, and the other location was nice and they comped us a trip to […] dunns river falls ($80 value for two people), but we felt they should have done/offered more. We were only there for a few days, over christmas and really had no choice. The several hours we spent traveling between the two locations and having to pack up and change resorts in the middle of our trip (we were at runaway bay for two days before our room was ready at montage bay) really disrupted our trip and essentially cost us a half a day (which precluded us from going to the one restaurant we wanted to and visiting downtown montage bay for shopping - due to the holidays). We felt that we should have been offered a comparable hotel in the area, at their expense, but aside from that issue the hotel was as advertised, had a good (not great, but good) selection of food and they changed up the menu enough to keep you interested. "Yah Mon?? No Mon!!"
We stayed for 2 nights, one being New Years Eve. The weather was wonderful as well as the company and fact that we had gotten engaged the day before (not at the hotel!) were the only redeeming qualities of this vacation. Actually the snorkeling/scuba tour was ok, short but that was due to the lack of experience on the part of other divers. Our room […] was pretty standard for a resort of such quality, but we spent little time in it. The entertainment for New Years was good and the party had balloons and champaign. I think my biggest complaint was the food and the drinks. There was a limited bufftet with the same thing every day for each meal, very plain. There was one A La Carte and we had steak, which was the toughest, blandest beef or donkey or whatever it was, that I have ever had. The bartending staff were friendly but you never got the same drink twice, each had their own version and most were terrible. Beer was the best option. Our last day turned our tollerable vacation into a complete turn-off. We checked out at noon, as required but our ride was not coming until 3 so we planned to have lunch and sit by the pool for some last minute drinks (done this at many resorts without question). They wanted our towels back at checkout as well as our bracelets so that we could no longer eat or drink. We avoided them for awhile and put it off while we went to "retrieve" our towels and multiple hotel workers hunted us down and forced us to the front desk. We do not recommend this hotel even for ft's cheap all inclusive because that is what you get, cheap!! Les mer

I enjoyed my stay, but I think that the food was very basic. I had hoped for a much better choice in all meals. Maybe they could do more in promoting Jamaican meals. The staff that I came into contact with was all very polite and helpful.

Loved most of the stay here and would definately go back. The only problem was the beach.. There are very hard rocks and stones in the water. You pretty much have to wear water shoe in it. "Nice Place To Hide Out"
If you are looking for somewhere to hide from friends and family this is the place. Visitors are not allowed beyond the trees. If you take too long to get out of your drop off vehicle security will be right there to rush you along. It felt like concentration camp in terms of movements. "Don't spend too much time here"
After spending a week in Negril on the famous seven mile beach, I was completely underwhelmed by the Royal Decameron resort. I will start by providing my positives: - Close to airport (less than 5 minutes, but the taxis still charge $15) - All food and drinks (alcoholic) are included - There was a visible younger crowd present - The staff was helpful […] and the bartenders were nice. - A reasonable price for the services recieved The negatives: - I was constantly harassed by salespeople when off the premises - The food was of standard buffet quality - The bath towels felt like I was drying myself off with a rain coat - The club on site played solely hip hop (I was hoping for more Caribbean or Reggae style music) - The pool closes at 5pm - The beach is narrow and limited in size - There is no airport shuttle service (it would have really improved the experience) - The housekeeping office never answered the phone when I called - The groundskeepers began maintenence of the facility at 7am, using gas powered equipment (very loud) All in all, this was not a bad place. I believe I was a bit spoiled from my previous experience earlier in the week. If you want to experience Jamaica in a true sense, get out of Montego Bay and stay somewhere farther from the airport. If your plan is to just get a tan and enjoy cheap food and watered down drinks, then stay at the Royal Decameron. Les mer

Its a 3 star hotel and thats what you get, the rooms were quite spacious and clean. Think the hotel could benefit from some modernization on a whole and the lobby was a bit dark for my liking. The real downside of this hotel is the 'LIFT' if you can call it that, it accommodates 1 person and a suitcase so it takes ages to get down for checkout. Food selection was a little below my expectation but overall it was well prepared and presented very Jamaican which I liked. Staff were quite friendly and helpful. The grounds of the hotel was great for relaxation whether you fancy the garden areas or just lazing by the pool or the bars. It has a quiet relaxed, easy going atmosphere so suited to the laid back visitors. Its total relaxation without the hassle. Mine was a romantic stay and I enjoyed every moment of it. I did not like the hotel, the lack of service, the quality of the food is horrible, they charged me twice to use internet, did not help me on various times. This was my first stay at an all inclusive and it was awesome. The food, drinks and access to the beach was great. The shows got cheesy after night two, but you're on vacation, there must be some cheese factor every now and then! Good position on waters edge, great outdoor amenities, nice clean beaches and swimming area, friendly staff but rooms are very very noisy. Noise from entertainment and other guests is very easily heard in the rooms in the central block. Although your room is closed up, noise from people walking in the hall way and even down stairs in the lobby can be […] heard inside your room of a night. Had an amazing time at this resort and would highly recommend it. Staff for the most part is great. Entertainment and F&B was amazing but the front desk was hit or miss. The younger staff at the front desk was the more pleasant bunch. The resort is well kept and the ocean views are amazing. "Think Twice Before You Stay"
Honestly I should have known better to stay at a 3.5 star hotel. I recently stayed at this hotel with my three children. When I checked into the hotel, right away I was disappointed. Once you check into the hotel and decide to leave early you are charged a three day PENALTY. The hotel needs to expand the variety of food that they offer to their guest. […] I had an Ocean view room that had no refrigerator, slightly broken bathroom door, an iron that didn't work, and a television from the 1980's that had the worst reception. I soon came to find out that all of the garden view rooms were fully equipped with new televisions and a fully stock refrigerator (Garden view and Ocean view are the same price). Please lets not forget the Wi-Fi that you have to use in their lobby and pay $5 dollars for 15 minutes and $10 dollars for 30 minutes..which you need to use all the minutes at once. The pool and most services close at 5pm. The hotel entertainment is a waist of your time. The only thing that is great about this hotel is that the employees are great. Les mer

"Best vacation ever!"
We picked the Royal Decameron based on customer reviews and we hit the jackpot. It was even better than what we expected, exactly what we wanted. It had everything to make our stay unforgettable without being too much. The location is great: our room (19) overlooked our own private beach with turquoise water and white sand and tropical fish and corals. […] After a swim in the very calm waters, we would hit the bar where the barmen were always quick, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was delicious, local and varied. After lunch we could relax in one of the hammocks, beach chairs or swings provided by the hotel. You could sail, borrow a pedal-boat or a kayak. The eight days we stayed passed way too quickly and we cannot wait to come back. Bonus: the Decameron is five minutes away from the airport (no plane noise at night though since the planes don't fly at night and the room was very well insulated anyway) so you can relax on the beach 30 minutes after your plane has landed. This hotel was an amazing value and we had an incredible time here. The other reviews we read before going were incredibly accurate. This is not the highest end hotel or all-inclusive resort by any means. However, I never thought I would be able to afford an all-inclusive vacaction on my budget until I found the Royal Decameron. Beverages were exceptional, […] food was very good, views, beach and water were amazing. Watersports are included and highly recommended. There is a glass bottom boat that takes you out to the coral reef a couple minutes off shore, and you can snorkel off the boat over the reef. This was amazing and highly recommended, and everything is provided for you. For families, this resort is family friendly and we saw several families there (I couldn't imagine paying for a pricier resort with small children). However, for couples who do not want to be annoyed by other peoples kids...although we saw families we barely noticed they were there. Best of both worlds!!! The staff is incredibly friendly which seems to be pretty typcial for the people of Jamaica. The location could not be more convenient from the airport. Althouh you can see and hear the planes, it is not a distraction. If you want the picturesque blue-water Carribean vacation...this is the place for you. Les mer

This is the best hotel I have ever stay in since I been visiting Montego Bay Jamaica. The staffs at this hotel are very friendly and respectful to all gust. The hotel is a great location - easy walk to the hip strip and town - it's clean and comfy, nothing super fancy, but fits the bill for the price. Breakfast is by far the best meal of the day, but the food was not bad overall.
