Store rene og flotte rom med god temperatur. Døgnåpen informasjonensdesk med veldig god service. God beliggenhet med gåavstand, samt taxi tilgjengelig til enhver tid. Lekker frokostbuffet! Spesielt godt fornøyd med lobby og barområdet hvor vi kunne samles et par timer på kvelden før vi gikk til hvert vårt rom!:):)

Hotellet lå svært sentralt, bare 150 meter fra Sheaperds Bush stasjonen, som ligger på Central line (den røde undergrunnen). Ved stasjonen ligger også Westfield, et stort, nytt handlesenter. Jeg hadde bestillt rom med to enkelsenger og da de ikke hadde det, fikk jeg oppgradering til et rom med kingsize seng. Rommet var stort og flott, nydelige badehåndklær og badekåper.

Vi er meget fornøyde, men synes at hotellrommet var for lite. Vanskelig å få varme på rommet når det var vind og litt kaldt ute. Vi kunne også tenkt oss en liten minibar på rommet. Ellers er alt til å anbefale. Har vært på dette hotellet før, og kommer garantert til å reise tilbake dit. I hvertfall hvis det går an å få til noen av mine ønsker.

University of London og British Museum gir Bloomsbury et akademisk preg. I Charlotte Street er det mange gode restauranter, mens Tottenham Court Road har elektronikkbutikker for alle budsjetter og gir kontakt med de 300 butikkene på travle Oxford Street. Trendy Soho er bare noen få minutters gange unna. Denne bydelen er full av lokalt særpreg med interessante puber, utmerkede restauranter og et rikt og av og til litt på kanten natteliv.

Et rent, hyggelig, pent hotelrom. Som gir deg det du forventer. Personellet ordnet det som vi ba dem om. Kommer nok til å bruke dette hotellet igjen, om jeg skal på en rask weekendtur til London.
"Stort rom, bra beliggenhet"
Overraskende stort rom for å være London. Badet var som forventet, lite men OK. Gangavstand til Oxford Street og Covent Garden var og et pluss, det var befriende å slippe og være avhengig av undergrunnen hver dag. Hyggelig betjening. Vi returnerer gjerne til samme hotell neste gang.
Helt OK hotell, men for første gang i mitt liv har jeg klaget på et hotellrom, klaustrofobisk følelse på et enkeltrom. En følelse av å bo under gateplanet. God service, fikk nytt rom, fremdeles på gateplan mot bakgården, med ventilasjonsanlegg rett utenfor vinduet, fikk ødelagt deler av nattesøvnen med vibrasjoner og høy lyd av anlegget. Ellers et fint […] område å bo i, god frokost. Vil anbefale hotellet til andre, men bestille rom i 2 etg, mot bakgården! Støyende biltrafikk på forsiden av hotellet. Les mer

Nydelig og behagelig rom. Pent område. Perfekt beliggenhet for den som er interessert i British Museum. Gode transportforbindelser til f.eks. National Gallery, Oxford Street og Victoria Station.

A very stylish and nice hotel. Very helpful and smiling staff. The room was nice, and both me and my missus found it to be good value for the money. Only downside was that the room was on street level, and the aircondition was not working very well. This meant that we had to have the windows open. A beautiful small hotel with great beds, atmosphere and service. A few stairs here and there.

Staff were very polite and friendly. Very nice room. Easy walk to tube, British museum, Soho and Euston station. A printed business card with your contact details while at the hotel is given you on check in. Direct telephone numbers to each room. Very satisfied!

"Sentralt og hyggelig"
Vi ønsket et hotell som lå sentralt og hadde god standard. Vi booket en suite hos The Academy og så frem til å kose oss en langhelg i London. The Academy ligger i en eldre murbygning i Gower Street, ikke langt fra Oxford Street og Covent Garden. Det at bygning er eldre preger hotellet, med skjeve gulv og knirking i trappene :) Dersom man er ute etter […] noe fancy og moderne - er kanskje ikke dette hotellet for deg. Men rommet vi fikk var veldig koselig og lyst - med alle fasiliteter. Romservice med mat til klokken 11 om kvelden brukte vi et par ganger. Helt grei mat til en helt grei pris - servert av hyggelig pikkolo. Vi hadde nok forventet at slitasjen ikke var så stor som den var, men hadde et svært hyggelig opphold alt i alt. Prisen er heller ikke avskrekkende. Så skal du til London, bo godt, sentralt og trivelig til en behagelig pris - er dette et hotellet for deg å vurdere. Les mer

"Clean, comfortable boutique hotel"
This is a great little hotel, clean, comfortable and friendly. A very pleasant alternative to the big business hotels for an overnight stay for either business or leisure. I've stayed here several times and whilst it's starting to show its age a little in some of the rooms I've stayed in, it still doesn't disappoint and remains one of my favorites when […] rates remain reasonable. "nice hotel - with shortcommings"
good location close to Soho. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Room very small. To open the minibar, one needs the skills of a neurosurgent and gynecologist. Plumbing not too good, and water pressur on top floor very low. Worst thing: wifi: unstable and speed is heartbreakingly slow. This is Britain 2012, sort it out, you can get more speed if you are […] willing to pay. the rooms are very small but everything what you need no escalator to the top floor service could be more sympatic but all together not a bad place to stay if aera you like. Not had the breakfast
"Great location, reasonable comfort, no internet"
Normally, I'd strongly recommend this hotel, but I'm afraid I'd have to suggest that people steer clear until they get working wifi service. I spent a total of 4 hours (2 of them on the phone with swisscom) trying to get a working wifi connection in room 56. When I travel, I NEED the internet to work. If a hotel says it will, and it doesn't (signal […] strength too low for operation), that's close to fraud. In the end, after hours of debugging effort, I was able to connect in the lobby, having lost about a quarter of my brief, and badly needed, break in London. Les mer

"The Academy Town House Hotel in London"
The hotel was very close to the British Museum, and within easy walking distance of theatres and good restaurants. More importantly for us, it was within walking distance of the National Gallery, so we were able to walk down and queue early in the morning to get tickets for the Leonardo Exhibition! However, although we are both reasonably fit, after […] having been on our feet for most of the day, tit became a chore to have to climb up several flights of steps to our room on the third floor. The hotel was well-furnished, and the staff were very attentive. Our room was clean and attractive, but even without the radiator on it was sometimes so hot that we had to resort to using the air-conditioning in January! "Good but overrated"
Plain hotel with a good staff and a good bed. The hotel is a bit weary but a nice accomodation. The TV cable was broken during our stay but the manager came up with a fair solution. The hotel has a good location, especially if you have prepared your stay by explore street map of the surrondings.

"Sightseeing in London"
It was difficult to find the hotel -various taxi drivers did not recognise the name . The hotel did not look like a hotel, as it is a row of terraced houses and was covered in scaffolding. There were rubbish bags at the front of the hotel throughout the visit and outside other properties -rubbish and building rubble. This gave a very poor first impression […] for my Japanese guests. The carpet was horrible & old fashioned. There was no lift and my guests were given a top floor room which was very poky with a low ceiling and a narrow windy staircase to access the room. The hotel is like a rabbit warren with rooms leading off in various directions. The bathroom in my room had no ventilation and smelt musty; the mirror would not clear after a shower. There was a smell of air fresheners in the hotel which was disgusting. Breakfast was served in a basement room which was fairly dark with no view. The staff were friendly and helpful but overall this hotel was very disappointing and over-priced, even for London. Les mer

nice hotel...although standard rates possibly a bit on the high side. Hotels is in reasonable nick, but it is an old converted townhouse so expect a few creaky floorboards, but it kind of adds to the charm. Location is great...5 mins from oxford street, 3 mins from British Museum, just off tyhe Totenham court road

Small single room but adequate and comfortable for one night and quiet. Breakfast at £14 for continental was very expensive and no surprise that the dining room was practically empty. Service excellent from dining staff.

OK hotel, very small room but clean. Avoid rooms facing Gower Street as they are awfully noisy. Rooms facing the back garden should be ok. Will not book again
"Academy - Room 3"
Okay - nice hotel inside. Tidy and a bit neater than many places in the district. When I visited there was substantial scaffolding outside the building as part of ongoing maintenance. Put me off initially but I shouldn't have worried. My room (3) was small. There was a big comfy bed in it which was great, a dock for my ipod which was cool. TV worked […] fine. The bathroom was very narrow and I feel that a walk-in shower might be better than forcing a bath in. The space between the bath and the towel rail is very narrow and difficult to get through. But the shower worked fine and the water was hot - plenty of it. Nice hotel soaps and shower gel. Thoughtful bottle of water by the bed. Not enough plug sockets for the business traveler so I had to unplug several lamps and other items to charge my phone, laptop etc. These are niggles. It still came in a tenner less than Ibis. I did not try the bar or breakfast because I had other arrangements. Les mer

All the staff were very helpful and courteous. The hotel owners 'The Eton Collection' need to spend some money on refurnishing the hotel as it was looking tired.; the dead lock didn't work on my door and the window lock was broken and the wall paper was peeling of the wall by the air-conditioning unit.

I have been going to the Academy for about 8 years, and have never been disappointed. It is in the heart of Bloomsbury a few blocks from the British Museum, the undereground, and close to much of the city. The Academy is in old townhouses with rooms that vary widely in size. Many would be smaller than many Americans would expect, but are perfectly comfortable, […] with a very friendly and capable staff, and serves an excellent breakfast. "Good location for exploring on foot"
Hotel is well situated for exploring Covent Gardens, Soho and shopping on Oxford St. Good restaurants and bars nearby. Service was great. Rooms were clean and neat. Patio and conservatory give it a homey feel; definitely not a cookie cutter hotel. On the down side there is a lot of traffic noise which means that windows cannot be left open. Additionally […] the air conditioning unit was not very powerful. No need to go for breakfast at the hotel when Eat/Pret a Manger/Table du Pain are all right around the corner. Les mer

"Good value"
The staff are really professional and worked to ensure my stay was comfortable. The AC didn't work in my room so they upgraded me. However both rooms were very nice - larger than what you often get in London. The internet connectivity was an issue - so this hotel not recco-ed if you need that. The location was a little far from the tube, however I enjoyed […] the 20 minute walk. There are a number of breakfast places around the corner if you don't want to have breakfast at the hotel. There's no lift but the staff whisked my bags to my room in a jiffy and back down upon departure. I am a Canadian woman who travels often on business. This was a vacation with some business mixed in. "The Academy, very clean and great location"
The single room was very small but extremely clean and well decorated. The whole hotel was well run and great value for money. The main downside was the extremely slow free wifi with a limit on usage that ran out after 2 hours of a 24hr pass. You had to pay if you wanted the quicker business internet. All in all I would definitely stay again
"A Little Gem of a Hotel in Bloomsbury, London"
We loved this boutique hotel in Bloomsbury only 2 blocks from the back entrance to the British Museum and a short walk into the trendy neighborhood of Fritzrovia with its great restaurants and nightlife. It is also convenient to a number of tube stations particularly the Northern Line at Goodge Station. We had a suite for my husband, myself and our […] daughter which was roomy and comfortable - elegantly restored architectural detail, immaculate white linens with down pillows&quilts and a lovely marbled bathroom. Very clean. We loved having free WIFI and the hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful - especially with carrying your bags to the upstairs rooms as there is no lift. We would definitely return to this hotel when in London for its location and for its reasonably priced rooms by London boutique hotel standards. Les mer

Hotel was fine but room was hot. Seems they are going to improve the airconditioning but temperature in the room stayed at almost 30 degrees while outside it was not even very hot. Rest of the hotel is nice and friendly staff..

"Bloomsbury - Wonderful streets to explore"
We had a wonderful time staying at the Academy. The service was excellent and the staff attentive. The rooms were very comfortable and well designed. We stayed in two different rooms - one was tiny but so beautiful, but too small for my husband so the staff gladly moved us as soon as a room was available. We explored the streets - good reasonable restaurants […] nearby - Percy Street has wonderful restaurants at the far end (one that Ezra Pound once visited), and Charlotte street. Also wander through some of the most lovely squares - Russell, Bloomsbury, and many more. Youthful college students provide a contemporary contrast to the historical setting. Les mer

the smallest rooms you can imgine; located 3rd & 4th floor; no lift; staircase shabby & railing unstable. certain areas in the room had dust on them. we reserved 2 rooms and each was in a different building !!!

If u don't mind walking this place is excellent. Super affordable especially for London and a clean place with an LCD TV and cable. Everything was as clean as expected and I would recommend to my mother.

"quiet place, friendly service, small rooms"
It's a nice and quiet place on a busy lane east of central London. The house service is very friendly, assisting and helpful. The rooms are really small, but clean and sober.
I am a regular guest at the hotel. However due to adverse weather conditions I was unable to fly, and therefore had to cancel the hotel- they have charged me with the full confirmation rate
