Holyrood Aparthotel - Edinburgh

Bra beliggenhet!!! Vi hadde en 2 romsleilighet, med to bad. Leiligheten var utstyrt med alt vi trengte. Vil helt klart bo her neste gang jeg er i Edinburgh.

Vi dro på venninnetur til Edinburgh, og valgte oss leilighetshotell siden vi skulle være der i en hel uke. Da vi kom ble vi møtt av en hyggelig jente i resepsjonen, som ga oss rommet vårt. Vi fikk rom i 1 etasje, altså etasjen under resepsjonen. Vi hadde bestilt et rom med ett soverom, oppholdsrom og kjøkken + to bad, men vi fikk bare ett bad. Det […] gjor ingenting, egentlig. Rommet vårt lå i høyde med gata, så det var litt ekkelt i begynnelsen. Stuepiken pleide å la vinduet stå åpent, slik at man enkelt kunne stukket hånda inn og besøkt oss mens vi var ute. Kjøkkenet hadde både oppvaskmaskin, mikro, vaskemaskin, ovn, godt romslig kjøleskap osv, alt man trenger for en uke i skottland! Vi er kjempefornøyd alt i alt, bortsett fra senga. Den var veeeldig hard! Kan hende de har mykere senger på andre rom, men vår var som stein. Ble vant til det ettersom dagene gikk, men skulle helst ha ønsket den var mykere. Stuepikene var veldig flinke, badet og kjøkkenet var som nytt når de hadde vært der. Se bort ifra at når vi hadde grist noe i sengen, ble det ikke byttet før noen dager senere, etter at vi hadde "lagt fram" der vi hadde grisa. Og det var ikke lite, så dette burde de ha sett.. Parkettgulvet i oppholdsrom/soverom tror jeg aldri ble vasket iløpet av den tiden vi var der. En annen minus var at det var veldig dårlig isolert. Vi kunne høre de ovenfor og vegg i vegg med oss veldig godt, og det var ikke så morsomt klokka 08 på morningen, eller seent på kvelden. Det ligger en Tesco butikk rett rundt hjørnet av hotellet, hvor vi handlet inn alt vi trengte av mat og drikke + andre ting. Det var veldig greit! Vi brukte ca 10-15 minutt til Princes street, og ca 5 minutter til Royal Mile. Veldig sentralt og veldig bra hotell, alt i alt:) Les mer

Vi reiste med to små barn i begynnelsen av mars. Leiligheten var godt utstyrt og i samsvar med den beskrivelsen som stod på hotels.com. Leiligheten ligger kun 50 meter fra Royal Mile, 50 meter fra busstopp til f.eks Ocean Terminal og like i nærheten av gode turområder. Leiligheten bærer preg av å være slitt og nærmer seg nok tiden for en renovering. […] Gulvet knirker noe HELT forferdelig i hele leiligheten og fuging og silikon på badene er i dårlig forfatning, men det var rent overalt. Vi hadde før avreise lest flere omtaler hvor det var påpekt at det var mye bråk på utsiden, men vi hørte ingenting, mulig fordi vi var der på ukedager. De ansatte i resepsjonen var stort sett hyggelige og hjelpsomme, noen selvfølgelig mer enn andre. Dette er et hotell vi gjerne besøker igjen hvis vi reiser på familietur, på kjærestetur eller venninetur hadde vi nok valgt noe annet. Les mer

Perfekt leilighet med 2 flotte rom med lekre bad og trivelig og velutstyrt stue/kjøkken. Rolig beliggenhet, hyggelig betjening og god atmosfære i en aldeles nydelig og snill by! Vi kommer tilbake!

Vi reiste to voksne og to barn. Perfekt leilighet for en familie. Romslig og delikat med velutstyrt kjøkken. Utmerket rengjøring. Perfekt beliggenhet kun få meter fra Royal Mile. Vi kommer gjerne tilbake:-) Tips: sett brødristeren under kjøkkenviften ved bruk - brannalarmen ble utløst to ganger for oss.

Leilighetskomplekset kan være litt vrient å finne første gangen, men det er også omtrent det eneste negative jeg har å si. Er man fler enn to voksne er løsningen nesten ideell; Vi var tre kamerater på guttetur, alle hadde sin egen seng fordelt på to romslige soverom (i tillegg var det en til overs, samt sovesofa i oppholdsrommet), det var to bad, fullt […] utstyrt kjøkken og stue, Alt var forholdsvis nytt, rent og pent. Leilighetene ligger litt utenom de mest hektiske utelivsgatene, men alt fra Grassmarket, Waverley togstasjon og Edinburgh Castle er alt innen 15 minutters gange. Det er hyggelige caféer, puber, restauranter, take-away utsalg, et nærmarked og en meget godt utstyrt whiskeybutikk i umiddelbar nærhet. Kort sagt meget god verdi for pengene dersom man er flere på tur og setter pris på å faktisk ha en base hvor man også kan få en pust i bakken mellom strabasene. Jeg reiser gjerne tilbake. Les mer

VERY CLEAN AND CONFORTABLE. ONLY PROBLEM IS THE WATER SYSTEM MAKES A LOT OF NOISE WHEN THE TOILETS ARE FLUSHED OR BATHROOM TAPS ARE RUN.

Good value for money, excellent for families and long stays, situated very close to the city center

This hotel is great but whenever you flush the toilet a noisy pimp starts up - not good in the middle of the night.

This is an apartment hotel which my family of four enjoyed staying during our recent visit to Edinburgh. I must admit that it is value for money. Transportation from Edinburgh airport to the hotel is so easy. Bus Service 35 just outside the airport will bring you to the bus stop along Canon Gate road which is just about 50m from the hotel. The hotel […] is modernly furnished and most importantly, it was sparkling clean. The It comes with a hall and 2 Bedrooms which were stylishly done up and cozy. The beds were comfy and one the rooms came with a washroom, which made it convenient. The kitchen was also well equipped with a wide array of utensils and cutlery, which was useful considering the convenience it brings when preparing meals. A supermarket (Telsco) is just behind the Hotel. The bathrooms were fantastic. They were clean, spacious and well-ventilated. Being equipped with towel heaters were also a nice touch & were helpful. Basic toiletries, such as body soaps and shampoos were also provided. What was even more commendable would be the high level of housekeeping service. It was thorough and whenever my family and I returned from our tour of Edinburgh, the apartment would be as neat & tidy as it was before. The only drawback was the flawed cleanliness of our dishes, which was probably due to an ineffective dish washing machine. In addition, the hotel staff that we have interacted with was courteous and cheerful. Free internet service available at its lobby was fast. They even provide printer which was useful for printing my e-tickets. I will certainly recommend this hotel apartment to my friends who wish to visit Edinburgh. Les mer

This hotel was great. It was close and convenient to the major area of Edinburgh. The rooms were decent size. There were only a few negatives about this place. The first is the beds are extremely hard. The other is that shower water pressure is almost non existent. They do have the pressure booster installed but it still feels like a mist. The location […] itself is amazing. It's just a few minutes walk to the Royal Mile. It is towards the bottom of it so the walk to Edinburgh castle is around 15min. There is a Tesco Express (small grocery) just around the corner. If in Edinburgh again I would definitely stay there and would recommend this place to others. Les mer

Convenient, central, clean and friendly

My husband and I stayed at the Holyrood Aparthotel on the 24 - 26 Feb and we were pleasantly surprised by the apartment alloced to us. The apartment was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was very well equipt. There is a small gym on the first floor and my husband made good us of it. Entrance to the Holyrood Apart hotel is down a very narrow alleyway. […] If you are using a Satnave, follow it's directions although you might think it is wrong. Parking in the secur parking area for the hotel is very cheap - so arrive early as parkign is limited. The staff was very friendly a helpful and had no problem arranging cabs for us and advising on restaurants in the area. We will definiately be staying there again and next time we might even use the kichen for more than making a cup of a coffee!! Les mer

great location, great rooms, great staff and great prices! Nothing to complain about here really. Unless you end up in a room with a noisy heater, which was the only thing that annoyed me.

We thought it would be more flexible to stay in an apartment and we were right. We popped back between visits. The location was great - including the supermarket down below, and less than 5 minutes to the Royal Mile. We even found free parking nearby. Everything was great and we will probably visit again soon

We had a number of problems with this hotel, some relatively minor but annoying enough for me not to recommend it to others. 1. the most annoying problem was the small supply of hot water. admittedly, i like to take slightly longer than average showers but i expect to be able to do so when i pay for a hotel room. i ran out of hot water both times i […] took a shower. a worker told me this is a problem that has happened before in the "studio" apartments (single bedroom) yet Holyrood would not move me to another room (one without this known problem) without an added charge. they were nice enough to move me to an adjacent (studio style) room but i tried the shower and it also ran out on me. 2. the bed was a bit hard (didn't bother me, bothered but bothered my girlfriend) 3. there is no luggage room - people can just leave their luggage in the lobby and you need a card to get into the hotel. this is a little strange so we just payed to store it at the train station. 4. internet is charged per machine - annoying. 5. the elevator is slow. On the other hand it was a nice location right off the royal mile (although a little hard to find at first since its sort of hidden behind some buildings and there is no sign on the main roads) and a lot of space for a hotel room. If you need a kitchen and are okay with short showers this is a nice place. Les mer

The aparthotel was very spacious, clean & warm. Perfect for a long weekend when you need that extra space. Apartments were tended to each day if you wish. The staff were very helpful and friendly.The downsides were that the sitting area furniture was not very comfortable and there was construction work next door which was very noisy mon-fri from 8am. […] Also the location is 15mins walk from the main areas but only £5/6 in a taxi. Overall good value for money and I would recommend it for that extra space. Les mer

Booked this instead of hotel for my friends 30th. Well better value if you book early was £50 cheaper than a hotel. Quite location with the old part of town just a little walk up the road, we had a 2 bed aprtment which can sleep 5 which was well big enough for just the two of us.

Booked it feeling dubious as it seemed such good value for money. Shared apart hotel with 2 other friends and we absolutely loved it - we are choosy. you have converted me to aparthotels, as we were able to go out at our leisure , go back for coffee and breaks etc. The location is near the old part of Edinburgh so we found some great traditional pubs […] with music or without and great food, a bit of a walk to princes street but we love walking and you can get a taxi. The privacy of the room was fab with solid doors and walls and 2 bathrooms. would def go again all mod cons. book it!!!! Les mer

Value for money, well equipped, very close to the Royal Mile.

The Holyrood aparthotel is not the most attractive building , but don't let this put you off. Once inside, we were very impressed with the space and cleanliness. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms, lounge and kitchen. It made a nice change from a room in a hotel, with the freedom to come and go as we pleased. The staff were friendly and helpful, […] and the rooms were were cleaned thoroughly every day. The location was excellent to walk to all the major attractions in the city centre. A secure car park was an added bonus. Overall a wonderful stay. Top tip........when booking ask for the 5th floor with a view of Arthur's seat Les mer

The hotel is only 1 "close" (alley) away from the Royal Mile, Starbucks and Tesco Express where I got my grocery. The staff was friendly. The room is EXTREMELY roomy and clean. The facilities - washer/dryer (with laundry detergent), microwave, fridge, and stove. Scotland is not well known of their cusine, there is when the grocery store comes in handy. […] We got nice, cheap Indian TV dinner from the store. It saved us a lot of $$, too. *However, MAKE SURE TO BRING YOUR OWN ALARM CLOCK, since there's none in the room and I don't trust the "wake-up call" from hotel staff, even though they were very nice. At Holyrood ApartHOTEL, you literally feel like home! The hotel's close location to the famous Royal Mile Street makes walking up there an absolute treat! The rooms are perfectly spacious and spotlessly clean. The bathroom are so tidy that one wishes to spend a night in it! The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Good Value, Great Location, Great rooms. Booked a double studio on Hotels.com and they gave us a free upgrade to a 2 bed 2 bath suite! And didn't even brag about it. Location is fantastic just a block or two off the Royal Mile. Beds and rooms were very comfortable - and plenty of hot water. Full kitchen including washing machine and dish washer (and […] a Tesco a block away) makes this the perfect place to stay if you are going to be in Edinburgh a while. Highly recommended. Les mer

Very clean/comfortable lodging. Only complaint would be the ability to locate/find the site; especially if you are driving. Essentially have to locate the street(alley) and go thru an unmarked gate.

My family and I had a great experience using Aparthotel the apartment was very clean, spacious and walking distance from the royal mile. There is the advantage of covered parking and a corner street supermarket for self -catering. WiFi is available for a daily fee. If travelling with small children I would suggest strollers (push chairs) as the streets […] in the immediate vicinity are up-hill. Overall a very comfortable stay. Les mer

Excellent place to stay in Central Edinburgh. Just like having your own flat. Very good to have the secure gated parking.

We enjoyed our stay at The Holyrood. It offers smart, well-appointed apartments just off the Royal Mile - ideal for the Fringe Festival. There's plenty of room for four adults, and the two bathrooms are a great idea. Proof of the comfort and quality of the hotel is the fact that it was a return visit for two of the four in our party. There were minor […] niggles about the booking, though, which others might bear in mind: although we booked some ten months in advance, we were given a basement room on the floor reserved for smokers. We didn't expect a spectacular view - the Holyrood is in a courtyard - but we looked out onto a wall. Secondly, we did not receive the complementary breakfast foods . Apparently, both the above were because we had not booked directly with the hotel. Neither of these points was made when we booked and we would have paid the hotel's slightly higher price had we known. Despite the above, we would definitely visit the Holyrood again. But we'd book direct to avoid the little disappointments. Les mer

The staff were very helpful- room was clean and ready upon my arrival. The apartment had everything we needed.. my family has 2 adults and 3 younger teenagers and we sometimes have diffculty fitting in small rooms and often have to get two rooms making everything doubly expensive . This apartment provided a very roomy sleeping evironment (2 bedrooms […] and a pull out couch in the living room). We were very convenient to the Royal Mile and other sites. My downfall... we only had a short stay and I would have loved to stay longer! Les mer

The curb appeal is a 2. However, the room is fine, the staff great and the location very favourable. I would definitely stay at the Holyrood again. Finding your way around Edinburgh however is a real challenge.

one of the two bed rooms is way too small. No space to put the luggages. The shower curtain was very dirty and smelly; had to make a request for them to put in a brand new curtain.

Spacious rooms, some energy-saving aspects were initially a bit confusing but well described in the book in the hotel. Very good location. Hard beds.

This is fantastic place for a short stay in Edinburgh. Only 10minutes walk from the railway station and an easy stroll along the Royal Mile to the Castle. Beautiful clean apartment with everything looking spotless. Great bathrooms , good kitchen and comfy bed. Would certainly come back again.

Excellent central location, off Royal Mile beside Holyrood Castle. Stayed in 2 bedroom apartment. Very comfortable clean and quiet. Reception staff friendly and knowledgeable about local area. Would return again

This is a fantastic hotel- very spacious for Europe. It is in a good location and the staff is quite helpful. We would absolutely stay there again.
