Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel - Limerick

still a very good hotel but needs to be freshened up a little

Situated beside the University of Limerick and three kilometers from Limerick City. The hotel is comfortable but in definite need of refurbishment. Rooms are beginning to show wear and tear. Great fitness centre with a 22 meter pool, steam room, sauna, zacuzzi and fully equipped gym. The Merry Pedlar Bar is nice and congenial but the food is expensive […] and very poor. Seems pre-cooked. McLoughlans Restaurant is more formal and the food while much better than the bar is still not of the kind of standard you would expect from a four-star hotel. Staff are very helpful. Beds lovely and comfortable. Bathroom shower did not work and has to be the most complicated shower i've come across. There was hair stuck to the ceiling not sure if it was head or pubic hair, not impresssed by this. The food was fine. I could not see where there was four star quality. Thank you for a wonderful time! We would use your hotel again, if traveling to Limerick, Ireland. We booked this hotel for a week to use as a base location while we visited our daughter at the University of Limerick and traveled around to see the country. It was perfect. The staff was wonderful, the food was delicious, the location was perfect, and […] the hotel was very comfortable. Lovely spacious room, bed was very comfortable. We had a little difficulty regulating the water temp in the shower and then the handle fell off! Given that it was quite heavy could have been nasty if it fell on a foot. Breakfast was very nice, great variety of everything, attentive service and teapots that did'nt leak!! our only major problem was the noise level in the hotel I believe that when their is a wedding, a reunion and a dance competition all at the same time. WAY WAY TO MUCH NOISE. I would hope that in the future you would inform a potential customer of events like this so they can make to call, if they want to stay at your hotel. The hotel was very nice.

The Carton Castletroy Park Hotel was the perfect choice for our planned trip to different locations in Ireland. Everything we wanted to see and do were within a 15 minute to a 2 1/2 hour drive of the hotel. The staff is very friendly and accommadating. The food is excellent.

This hotel was a nightmare to find - may have been something to do with our Sat Nav but suspect not. Once found it was a nice hotel but tucked behind less attractive buildings (hence probelm finding it) and too far out of town for our liking (would have involved a taxi in and out and we would prefer to walk). We never did "discover" Limmerick as this […] was a one night stop on a tour of the West and so we don't know what we may have missed. Having found the hotel and seen that the food was OK, we stayed put and the hotel served us well for the overnight stop. Les mer

Access to the hotel is great. Shopping center about a mile away. Staff was courteous and very helpful. The free underground parking is a nice feature. Rooms are large enough to easily handle 2 persons with 4 large bags. It will be a first choice when we come back .

Four of us stayed for two nights great value room good location we had dinner in the Chinese restaurant across the the road on both nights which was fantastic really friendly staff unlike the member of bar staff in the hotel . It worries me that all the work spent trying to get tourists. Back to Ireland can alll be unraveled by rude arrogant service […] not a friendly welcome the guy that served us on sat night needs to find a new career path not suited to service Les mer

I was expecting a cheap and cheerful hotel for what I paid. We were only staying one night to break our journey from Dublin to Kerry. The Carlon Castletroy Park Hotel completely surprised me. It was al lovely four star hotel, the pool and gym were fantastic. We had dinner on the first night with a few drinks in the bar which was excellent and the breakfast […] was perfect. We had a wonderful time staying at the Carlton. The price was unbeatable, the food outstanding and the staff very helpful and friendly. Did not use the pool or workout room but they both looked top notch. Would stay again if in the area.

Very comfortable hotel with an excellent breakfast.

Staying for 3 nights our overall experience was a good one. 2 aspects which where disappointing were the lack of air-con in the hotel room and seeming lack of service from hotel staff, seemed that the staff present were unable to cope with the very few people there. Otherwise a pleasant experience, good food and good facilities.

This was for many years one of the finest hotels in the country. Not anymore. The impression is that it is being run down at every level. The food was very disappointing and seemed to be pre-cooked. The staff are as friendly and effecient as ever which is its saving grace. Hopefully, some suitable management company will take on this gem of a hotel […] and bring it back to its former unsurpassed standards. Les mer

we stayed for 4 nights and had great time breakfast was best I have seen in a hotel ,everything you could want. Chinese restarant beside hotel was lovely early bird menu very good and reasonable. Only fault I would have would be the dinner I had first night in hotel was very poor, ordered salmon and all I got was piece of salmon with about half scoop […] of potatoes, I had to ask for more potatoes and was charged extra for them. Excellent hotel. Stayed 3 nights. 100 per cent happy. Staff excellent, lovely food in the bar, rooms to very high standard, great leisure facilities. We will certainly return

Beautiful Hotel, excellent very friendly and professional check in receptionist. Hotel has alot of charm however the look and feel of the corridors and bedrooms is starting to age in comparison to other hotels out there currently.

Very nice hotel and nice frontage but disappointingly set back overlooking a Spar shop, bank, offices etc. A car is needed to get about and when trying to find the hotel (whose address is Dublin Road) apparently this is the OLD Dublin Road - so take a good hint and follow the sign-posts instead for The University. Pool and spa looked nice but didn't […] personnally use either. Les mer

We were attending soccer tournament in Unversity Limerick (hotel just across the road from UL). Arrived at hotel 8.30am hoping to book in before soccer tournament started, but we were way too early. Though no room available, staff suggested we go to tournament & then do some shopping with promise to call me when a room became ready. This they did & […] we returned to check in at 11am!. All staff were very pleasant with good knowledge of local area - hotel very clean - breakfast very varied - definitely will go back! Les mer

Great hotel! We were there to visit with our daughter who is studying abroad at the Univ. of Limerick. This hotel is right at the entrance to the university, so convenient. The rooms are very nice and very clean. Lobby nice with a very comfortable area to have afternoon tea or just a snack or beer, with the sun shining in and a grand piano. The staff […] was superb, making suggestions of restaurants, calling cabs and just being friendly. Our breakfast was included in our price and it was very good and what a great price we paid for the room. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone. Les mer

I spent two nights in the hotel while attending a conference in Limerick University and was very pleased with everything.

I forgave problems with electronic door key not functioning, requiring getting the desk attendant to open door for us more tham once. Since this hotel had recently changed ownership, we gave it some leeway. The Concierge was a most pleasant and helpful fellow. Food service was very good but a little expensive (expected). Location to the University […] of Limerick was very convenient,as we were visiting our daughter who was attending UL for a semester as an exchange student. Les mer

We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Limerick area. Very, clean, well maintained, lovely personnel, helpful, good food, and accessible. The walk along the Shannon River nearby was awesome.

I choose the hotel as it was close to a business park where a long weekend lecture was taking place, the reception team were efficient and freindly, taking into consideration that i was pregnant and wished to have a room close to the lifts and also helped me to the room with my bag. The Bar staff were also proffesional and there were plenty of staff […] available to serve either in the bars or restaurants. The pool and leisure facitilies were excellent and i would recomment the delish cafe across the car park and the chinese resturant above it. Les mer

リムリック大学への所用に利用したが、大学に近く、便利であった。部屋は広く、ベッドはゆったりしている。運良くイングランドでは考えられない低料金であった。 水回りの利用にちょっと工夫がいる。風呂の水栓の効きが悪く、望みの温度に調節するのに忍耐が必要であった。 朝の食事はおいしく、オムレツも注文に応じて焼いてくれた。バーではコーヒーも飲める。ホテルのすぐ前に中華料理点があり、口に合う料理が食べられる。その隣りにコンビニがあり、食品を含め身の回りのものはここで揃う。 バス停が近くにあり、バスの利用に慣れればダウンタウンへ行くことも簡単だったと思うが、一度も利用する機会がなかった（大学関係者が送迎、案内をしてくれたから）。バスを利用したのは、リムリック駅から空港へ行くバス。本数は少ないが安価であ […] った。 スパがあるようで、プールで泳いでいる姿も見かけたが、時間的な余裕がなく、利用はしなかった。 フロントの応対も含め、全体的に上質のホテルだと思う。 Les mer

A very good hotel, the staff were always very kind, and everything was in perfect condition. Have absolutely nothing to complain about! Highly recommended.
