Regina - Madrid

I loved the convience of this hotel right off the seville subway line, i took to and from the airport. walking distance to the prado museum, puerto sel sol and chueca... my room was beautiful!!!! the cafe downstaies had a great cafe con leche much better than starbucks next door!!!!

Overall, enjoyed the hotel. I am not very picky with A/C, but the person I shared the room with was VERY unhappy with the quality of the A/C. Even after speaking with hotel management and maintenance, the room did not get cold enough for him to sleep comfortably. Just an FYI.

Everyone was so nice! Come to think of it everyone in Spain was so nice!!!

This is a grand old hotel that has been modernized. The location is perfect, it is to the Puerta Del Sol, and close to Plaza Major.the seville metro stop is right out front. The staff is great, friendly and helpful. I recommend it strongly.

The good: 1. Excellent location- very close walking proximity to most of Madrid's tourist spots. Puerta del Sol is literally 5 min down the street from them. The Prado is about 15min walking. And the airport shuttle bus drops you off at Plaza de Cibeles, which is an easy 10min walk. 2. Professional & efficient staff- They let us check in several hours […] before check-in time after an exhausting trans-Atlantic flight. They were also very knowledgeable and helpful on tour operators, directions, airport transfers, etc. Just as importantly to us, the front desk personnel spoke good English; because between my husband & me, our Spanish is not very good. 3. Modern room- Our room & bathroom had obviously been refurbished recently. The beds were also very comfortable. 4. Wireless connection- Our wi-fi cost was included in the cost of the room. Strong connection most of the time- enough to do Skype. The Cons- 1. Noisy- the noise caused by other guests at all hours of the night reverberates around the hallway. Beware - esp if you're a light sleeper. 2. The bathroom didn't have a traditional door separating itself from the room. Rather, it had a glass door that didn't drown out all the noise while your travel companion showers or uses the toilet. This definitely irked me. 3. Very small room- we barely had enough room for both our suitcases. Also, they should offer a TV channel in English. CNN or BBC would be helpful. All in all, we had a good experience at the Regina. Fairly good value for the money. It's three star rating is an accurate assessment. Les mer

I could not believe the location of this hotel in this price! It was just great!. Right in the heart of the city with Banco Central across the street. There is no parking in the hotel but the underground Public Parking ($) is right next to it. Staff was not very helpful, a little impatient, but this seems to be normal in Madrid. Starbucks Coffee is […] right next to the hotel so you get this home feeling:) Room was clean, with an Ikea style but comfortable. I did not use the restaurant, there were plenty of them in the city. Hotel is 5 min walking distance from Plaza del Sol and other main attractions. About 30 min drive from the International Airport. When you are in Madrid as a tourist location is everything and this hotel was great for that. Les mer

The hotel was perfect for our stay in Madrid. Good location and price. We must say the open room concept including the bathroom was a surprise and would not be for everyone. You can't be self conscious and stay here as you share every detail of bathroom life with others in the room. If you can stand that then by all means pick this hotel. We did have […] some problem with odors(sewer gas) emanating from the shower drain when others above us were showering in their rooms. Excelent hotel, very well located in Madrid, close to Puerta del Sol and other entertainment areas. Metro station at the door. Cafeteria and restaurant in the premises and the best personnel, very friendly and helpful. Rates very reasonable. We will go back for sure.

The location of the Hotel was perfect. We got 2 rooms for the family of 4. My husband and I and my 15 years old daughter and my 11 years old son. The room was new and very modern and NOT COMFORTABLE. We had one queen bed or smaller in each room for 2 people to sleep on. I reserved a room with 2 seperate beds, but I got one bed with one long pillow. […] The room designed for one person. I told them and they showed me another room with two beds next to each other. We decided to stay in our room. I complained the next day. They said they would have a room avaiable later in the afternoon. We stayed 4 nights and we didn't want to unpack and pack and unpack and pack again. I reserved the room long time ago. They should have it ready on June 17 when we arrived. The TV didn't have that many English channels. I was changing the channel with my kids and all of the sudden we saw more than4 channels of PORNE. I was screaming to my kids to close their eyes untill i change it back to BBC. I asked the front office if the Hotel is a family hotel? and they said yes. I told them about the PORN channels, but they said you have to pay for it in order to watch it. I told them we saw it when we were changin the channal. I told them to disconnect the PORN from our rooms, but they didn't. Damage is done and my kids saw that. I would let people know about those channels when they arrive to hotel. Les mer

The Regina was our favorite hotel we stayed in in Spain. It was in a great location, right on a main street and by two metro spots. The front desk was helpful and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The lobby was big and had a nice attached restaurant and bar. We stayed in Regina from the Friday thru to Monday. I would recommend it completely. All must-see's are right outside the door. Very central to everything. The staff were so nice & friendly, couldn't do enough for us. The room was spacious & so clean & airy. There is a Metro right outside the door which will bring you to anywhere you want to go in the […] city. Will def recommend to any of my friends going to Madrid & very reasonably priced also. The hotel is very well located. The staff are friendly. There is free wifi which is very good. Our room was without a window so it was dark all the time in our room. However I'm sure the other rooms with windows are lovely.

I booked this hotel due to the high review score, but obviously different peole have quite different expectationss. Hotel is near Puerto De Sol, easy access by foot or metro to almost all sites. Staff was helpful in making reservations and providing directions. Major problem was the room - we had a standard twin room and the picture on the internet […] looked so much better than real life - the bathroom was very basic, the bed squeaked, the mattress and pillow very low quality, there was no English channel TV. The worst was that room had absolutely no sound proofing, I could hear people talking, walking, closing door and vacumming at all hours. If you are a light sleeper like me, you should avoid this hotel, especially when it's not that cheap. Les mer

Great location and service. Few meters from Puerta del Sol, Plaza Santa Ana, and Gran Via (Dowtown Madrid). Just on Sevilla Metro Station. Very kind staff and great deal for the proce. Highly recommended!!!!!!

This hotel is better than it appears when you enter the rather strange lobby. First, the staff are very helpful and friendly. Second, the location is very good as it is within walking distance of most of the major sights in Madrid and right on top of the Sevilla metro stop. This is a big plus for the footsore traveller! Let's be honest up front: if you take the cheaper hotel rooms, you're not going to be blown away by them. They are comfortable, but have their faults. For example, you can hear through the door and you probably aren't going to get any excellent views out your window. Not to mention the beds are a bit stiff for my liking, but comfortable. That said, […] they are quite clean and are perfect for the cost. The free wifi is helpful for staying in touch and planning out your next day. The beds are spacious and the rooms are not cramped for a European hotel. The hotel itself is fairly stylish and shows ambition of being above average. The hotel staff are great. The location is impeccable. The rooms are great for what they are. Overall, a great choice for a hotel. I would certainly stay there the next time I go to Madrid and would suggest it to anyone looking for a great deal. Les mer

The hotel is in a great location if you r staying for 3 or less days as you can walk to almost everything. The staff is very helpful, friendly and all speak english. On the downside it can get noisy at night as it is on a relatively busy street and close to a metro stop. The shower has marble floors which gets very slippery when water hits it. I took […] a nasty spill one morning and had it not been for the grab bar i would have had some serious injuries. Also, and this is not a big deal but the lobby has a very strong smell of some perfume, like someones spraying it every five minutes. so dont plan on chillin in the lobby. :) Les mer

My experience at the Regina was fantastic. The staff was friendly and spoke various languages. As An American, we are used to big rooms and all, but for the price the Regina was well worth it.... It is all about location, location, location....the hotel was near all the important areas I needed, sights, night clubs, shopping and chic cafes....I will […] stay at Regina again and recommend to my friends....Thanks staff at the Regina and keep up "le fantastique travaille" I will see you in the fall again. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Regina. Our room was small, but that was expected. The features of the room were contemporary and the room was spotless clean. There were some hallway noises in the morning, bu they were just cleaning the hotel.

We found the Regina Hotel to be a great location. The hotel staff was very helpful and made us feel quite comfortable. We felt we were in the best location for catching the Metro or walking to any of the key locations, Sol, Gran Via, Prado etc.

Location, Location is everything,outside hotel turn right 100 meters puerta sol square, gran via with all the shops.Turn left 300 meters museums art,naval,natural history,etc.Fanastic coffee/deli next to Hotel.Get the 2day pass for tourist bus €22. Hotel is immaculate.

Hotel Regina is located perfectly for sightseeing in Madrid. The hotel staff was great, room was modern and well-appointed (and relatively spacious by European standards). We wouldn't recommend eating dinner there, but grabbing a glass of wine at the bar is an excellent treat and became our evening habit before we set out on the town. The only caveat […] is that our room was on an air shaft that was connected with the kitchen as well. Not terrible, but the smell of kitchen food (we were on the 3rd floor) became tiresome after a while. We would recommend asking for a room on the outside of the hotel instead. The hotel is in a great location. If you face the front of the hotel it can be very loud. But it's a good value for the location. Great 24 hour airport shuttle available for 2 euro. Much quicker and easier than the Metro.

Our stay at the Regina Hotel was wonderful! The hotel itself is beautiful, the staff is so accomodating- everyone was so nice and helpful. The staff gave us advice on how to use public transportation for a day trip that we planned, for example. The room that I stayed in was a little on the smaller side, but totally fine, it was very clean and comfortable. […] The location of the hotel is perfect- it's near all the major attractions and is in close walking distance to 2 subway stops. This hotel is really nice and spacious rooms with helpful staff. There is a Starbucks next door and many places to eat within a few blocks. The Sevilla metro is outside the front door. Very efficient , professional and helpful staff members. They make you feel at home. The hotel rooms very well serviced and bathrooms clean. It is my family and I's first visit to Madrid and in winter, but our choice was good because we found the hotel very well situated/located. Dimitrios Koutakis. (South African)

Stayed in Madrid for 6 nights with a girlfriend. Was very surprised at the location and quality of the hotel. You are right in the action of the city, with the metro right outside the hotel. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, although the walls seemed a little thin (and you could hear people in the hallway and outside). We were glad we booked this hotel as it was fairly central and easy to get to from the airport on the bus. First we did the city tour,booked our tickets from the hotel and paid pensioners rate. The city tour familiarizes you with the city and places of interest. We were then able to walk to the sites ourselves. Lots of resturants and a Starbucks beside […] the hotel. It was a noisy at times with people coming in late and talking loud but on the whole it was what was expected from a hotel so near the centre. we would certainly stay there again. 28/11/2010 Les mer

This was a terrible stay. We had noisy neighbours, which is not the fault of the hotel, but the walls were not sound-proofed and we could hear all. The floors were not carpeted either therefore we could hear a screech when upstairs dragged their chair across the floor. This hotel was an amazing find on Hotels.ca The price was good and the room very comfortable. We ate most nights in the hotel dining room which was good enough for our needs when we weren't able to go further afield. The lobby with its 2 eating areas was always bustling and full of people coming and going. The location was beyond perfect for sightseeing. […] A map with 10 of the top sites for Madrid shows that they are all within walking distance from the Regina. A subway station (Sevilla) was right outside the front door. While not extremely luxurious, I can't see why anyone would stay elsewhere because of convenience and location. Les mer

We had only two days in Madrid, so staying at the Regina was perfect for us. We could walk to every place we wanted to see -- the Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Santa Ana area, Prado, etc. The room was small but perfectly clean, the bathroom was also just fine. Desite being on a major street, our room faced a side street so the street noise was minimal. […] We also arrived on a super early flight but they had a room ready for us by 10 AM, so it was perfect to drop our luggage, change, and get out to see as much of the city as possible. On arrival we were allocated a ground floor room.As most double rooms don't have a view we asked to be moved to an upper floor which they did without any fuss. The Hotel itself is ideally situated in the centre of Madrid ,with Metro and sight seeing bus stop right outside the door.A five minute stroll takes you to the restaurants and tapas bars and […] a further hundred yards and you are in the square by Sol metro where there is always some form of entertainment going on. We found the coffee shop on the ground floor of the hotel extremely useful as we would call in the morning and last thing at night. Les mer

It was our first time in Madrid, and Regina Hotel was walking distance to Plaza Mayor and the Prado, couldn't have planned this better.

Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely clean room, fantastic location right in the heart of things. warning when wandering around keep your purse safe from the pickpockets, I lost mine
