The location for us was perfect. Yes, it is on the other side of the island from Duvall St. No, it does not provide shuttle service. This was great for travelers like us who did not want to experience the spring-break type experience you can have in Key West if you stay on the other side. By not providing a shuttle, the hotel effectively also keeps […] drunken shuttlers from raiding their property at 3 am. It's a $20 cab ride to Duvall - it's a 15 minute drive via cab, but an 8 minute drive on your own - go figure. :) I hope all the rooms are as freshly remodeled as ours was, it made our trip wonderful. We had a "harbor view" room, which really looks like a view of the sea. It was spectacular. The room itself was the CLEANEST hotel room I have ever stayed in, which is amazing and SO appreciated! We slept like rocks. It is very near the airport, but you'll hear some planes overhead pretty much wherever you are in Key West. Also, the planes don't seem to fly after 10pm or before 6 am. That worked for us. This hotel should give their maid service a raise and throw them a party. That's how clean our room was - as it should be everywhere. The pool was also immaculate and well-maintained, felt like a truly tropical setting. The pool's tiki bar served the freshest mahi-mahi sandwich I've ever had. Our room also had a mini fridge in it, which made it extra convenient for meals etc. but all our meals at the tiki bar were delicious. Les mer

The hotel desk staff wasn't very helpful. Not only me but another couple had to ask If there was any kind of shuttle or bus service available. I was under the impression that all they wanted to do was check us in and send us to our room. If the room could speak it would say "come on in and enjoy your stay ,look around and enjoy the view". The hotel pool area is gorgeous, the staff is extremely friendly. Hotel was about 15 minutes from Duval. The only downfall was that it was very pricey. The beds were comfy and the room was pretty clean.

I was suprised at the spaciousness of our room. There were 4 of us 2 adults and 2 children. It was very clean. The hotel has a wonderful pool area and the cabana offers full bar and burgers. There is really no beach access for kids to play but since we stayed for only a night it was very nice.

We had two rooms for a family vacation during Spring Break - April 2012. Maid service was exceptional; room was always clean and sparkling. Granddaughter noticed the different, and attractive, placement of the bed pillows each day. Readily available supply of pool towels to use in the lovely, heated pool by the Chicki Hut. When we first pulled in, I thought uh oh, this is exactly the type of Motel/Hotel we've always tried to avoid - the sort with doors on to common outdoor walkways.Glad we stayed though. it is little bit costly but overall key west hotels are costly. nice breakfast and comfort stay. location is good too...

This was a great hotel. You definitely need transportation to get to Duval Street, but I knew that before I booked. Room was large with a great water view. Pool was nice, staff was very friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed the cleanliness and personnal. The grounds are very nicely kept with beautiful sorroundings. Couldn't hear a thing though located next to airport.

OK for one night, not a resort, don't let the name fool you and it is not worth the money they charge for a room.

Stayed at the hotel during conference as a lower priced alternative to the resort hotel. Older property, sparse and utiliterian, but clean and comfortable. Free continental breakfast met my dietary needs (hard boiled eggs, yogurt and cereal). Right across from ocean. No elevator to 2nd floor if that's a problem. Too expensive. I expected other thing according with the pictures and review from others. The personal was not polite at all. Very noisy during the day and night because is located besides the airport. The breakfast not good too.

The Hotel was in a beautiful location. I had a porch outside the sliding glass door. And it overlooked the pool. And there were Palm tree's. And I could sit on a chair and there was a table and I could look out over the ocean. There was a continental breakfast. It was nice.

This hotel is located in a convenient part of town away from the downtown scene, yet near the airport. This hotel was very comfortable, quiet, had a great pool area/tiki bar and it is a real value. Our family enjoyed their stay.

The hotel is two old motels that have been melded together. It has a lovely pool area with an ocean view. The rooms are spacious but have thin walls so light sleeps may have a problem. The hotel is situated out of the main Key West area, by the airport.

Very noisy due to close by airport. The room was just average. Not a resort feeling. Noisy refrigerator and smelly baths...Rough sheets. And the walk to breakfast is very long... For the $250 rate it is definitely not worth it. Would not stay again

I paid enough for this reservation that I should have had a decent location on the pool side of the establishment - not stuck back in the furtherest room from the garden area.

Very nice hotel. Had a great stay. Room was updated, clean, and comfortable. Not close to Old Town so you have to drive in each day and pay to park. After being on your feet all day, and for loading luggage, an elevator would be nice for guests staying on the 2nd floor. Aside from that, I would stay here again. Staff was wonderful. Nice hotel, clean rooms, located on a busy street but very quiet at night. The airport is close but pretty much inactive after 11 PM. Breakfast and parking is complimentary. Our room had minor chips and dents but nothing major. Others hotels were charging 20$ or more for the same room so overall, the Key Ambassador is a good deal.

So I should have looked at the hotel photos better because when we first pulled up we were disappointed to see it was more like motel style with the room doors on the exterior. However, the room itself was clean. The ppol was nice with a Tiki bar but you can't bring in your own drinks or food. The free breakfast had bread, muffins, cereal, french toast […] slices, and you could make your own belgium waffle which was decent. Location was right near airport so you could hear planes in the morning but got used to it. It's about a 5-10 minute drive to Duval Street. There is a walkway near water and a beach close to hotel but shallow water looked a little murky but it was windy the whole time we were there so that's perhaps why but a tour guide said the Fort Zachary Beach was the best swimming beach in the area. is an older fascility showing some wear but everything was in good condition. the staff was courtious and knowledgeabe. it is on a tour bus line that will take you to most attractions during the day but only ran until 5pm. it is near the runway of the local airport but there is little night activity

This hotel is very nice and a heck of a bargain. Our room was very clean and had a wonderful view of the pool area. The screened in porch was a surprise bonus. It is at the far end of the island away from Duval street so if your looking for that scene this should not be your choice. I found if plenty convenient to take a bus into town for entertainment. One […] downside is that this property is at the end of the airport runway and there is air traffic over the hotel all day long. Plenty quiet at night as the flights stop. Les mer

Key west hotels are generally expensive. This Best Western is conveniently located near Key west airport and also close to Highway. The Beach is a miles away and down town is within 3 miles. Hotel staffs are very cordial and complementary break fast is very good too. We enjoyed every moment in this hotel for our one night stay.

Great Hotel. The room was perfect. The front desk and pool bar staff was amazing. The breakfast buffet got us started on the right foot. The pool was a perfect place to relax from the Key West area. The hotel was a little distance from the Duval street area. This was a plus and a minus at the same time. No wonder they can't get these rooms booked!

My wife and I stayed here during the annual Hemingway Days Marlin Fishing Tournament. While we did not win the tournament this year, we did select a winning accomodation! The room was exceptionally clean, close to excellent fine and causual dining, and the view of the Atlantic Ocean was breathtaking. The staff were polite and answered any questions […] we had about local dining areas away from the hustle and bustle of tourists. Poolside was absolutely relaxing. Guests and staff were inviting and entertaining. We have already recommended this hotel to six personal friends and cross promoted our stay on our website, Face Book, and Twitter. A very solid low-end hotel that has many good features and knows what it wants to be--a value-centered lodge for families and groups. Far from Duval Street, but ample ways to get around. Best Western in Key West was awesome, I would stay there again for sure. Hotel staff friendly, helpful and comfortable. Took the city bus to Duval and walked around all day and took a cab back at night from the other side of town and only cost $20.00 with the $4.00 tip included. We loved this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and there were a lot of perks. The room was very comfortable and larger than most standard hotel rooms. We had a great view of the ocean. Our stay at the hotel was for July 4th weekend (7/01/11 to 7/06/11) and it was fantastic ! We noticed right away that our room was very clean, the bathroom was nice & big with plenty of towels & lots of pillows on bed. It also came with a deck that was screened in with which we had a nice view of the pool and ocean. Can't say anything bad about the […] staff either, very helpful and always polite. the only bad thing was the "cheekie" bar. I'll agree with everybody else who said it closed to early which was 7:00 p.m. On July 4th we went down for a little snack (serves good food too) about 4:30 and it was closed already !! Found out next day that because there weren't many people there they decided to close it ! On a freakin' holiday!! Great time. Room was clean and fresh. Pool was awesome. Isaac the bartender was great at the tiki bar. I'd go back anytime. Only problem was its a ways frOm Duvall st.
