Fint oppholdt, litt stusselig frokost, men et bra hotell.
"Eksepsjonell service!"Anmeldt av en hotels.com-gjest den mai 2, 2012
Hotellvertinnen er perfekt, skiller seg ut med ekstra vennlighet, imøtekommenhet og omtanke. Veldig god service. Rolig strøk litt utenfor sentrum, busser og drosjer i umiddelbar nærhet. Vi skal tilbake til dette hotellet!

"You get what you pay for...don't expect much!"
There is a barrier to the car park entrance, which does not let you in if the car park is full...this hotel is used for weddings so after my 5 hour drive, I had to wait 20 mi uses to get into the car park...upon entrance there actually wasn't a space! A further 20 minutes to check in was not the best start! Wi-fi access onlynavailable in bar and 'lounge' […] area, which are very noisy with bad 'live entertainment'. The room, ok, overstuffed with inappropriate furniture...you couldn't close the door to the bedroom if you required from the entrance area as there was a chair in the way, and no where to move it to. The chair by the dressing table was too big for the spot so rammed in at an angle. When you put it face on to the desk and mirror, it blocked the room so you couldn't walk by the bed! It is very dated but for the price i paid its about what you could expect. Please note, on here when booking it states complimentary parking...this is NOT the case, you have to pay! It's only a couple of quid, But still, after all of the nonsense getting in I wasn't happy about that news! Staff were friendly! The area, as I drove in to the town, the first thing you see are 'get out of debt' shops everywhere..it's a bit run down so I wasn't tempted to go for a stroll. Apparently there is a sister hotel with a gym that you can use for about £4...I wish I had known about this when booking as I would have used it! Les mer
"Worst hotel experience we've ever had"
This beautiful Victorian building has clearly not received any maintenance attention for years. The remote control for TV was held together by adhesive tape; there was duct tape around the plumbing pipes for the toilet. Wallpaper and paint showed signs of peeling and chipping. We left after one night, although we had planned to stay four.
"The Prince of Wales in Southport"
Good location. Friendly efficient staff. Good food. Decor upstairs and in bedroom very dated. Main problem for me was the heating on 24 hours a day with no option to turn it off so very uncomfortable night. Most windows sealed up with only one window which opened a couple of inches.
"Prince Of Wales in Southport - Bed Horrors"
We made a point of booking a double room but when we got to our room we found we had twin beds pushed together. On further inspection we found that one of the beds was fairly new and firm and other had a mattress that you could feel every spring in and when you sat on it, it sunk down and down and the icing on the cake.... the twin beds were different […] heights. When we complained we were told that hotel was full and they was nothing they could do about it. We slept one night on the bed and then complained again as it was terrible. This time they offered us a swap.... to a room with no windows and right next to the lift shaft. Hardly a good swap. As well as this, the hotel breakfast is disgusting. The toast is cooked in advanced and left to sweat under hot lamps, the scrambled egg was floating in water, the bacon was so salty, the sausages were the cheapest rusk filled kind and the coffee was luke warm. The only semi decent thing was the hash browns. The saddest thing about all this is the building is beautiful and it is set in a really central beautiful location but I would never stay here again. "value for money"
what a lovely hotel this must have been in it's hey day, very convenient for shops and front. For what we paid for 2 nights we have no complaints the bar prices were cheaper than 'weatherspoons across the road, well done for that. The breakfast was well cooked and plentiful and the staff pleasant. Lots of organised trips in so hotel quite full.
"dog freindly"
Although you could have your dog in the room, when going for breakfast yo had to put dog in your car. Dogs not allowed to stay in room without you.
"New Year Break"
stayed for 2 days this was our second visit within a few months. glad that we did not take notice of the bad reviews as we have found this hotel to be a gem. its i a great position free parking at hotel. plenty of shops and places to eat around. The room rates are great value for money the hotel is a little tired but nothing to complain about we had […] a lover floor room no 21 its smashing with a spa bath. would stay here again its a bargain and the breakfast is good. ignore bad reviews and try for yourselves. "Prince of Wales - Restaurant"
I chose this hotel over others in the vicinity because it had a restaurant. However the hotel caters for coach parties and the only meal available was a budget priced 3 course meal + complimentary glass of wine. I had to buy a meal voucher before entering the dining room so was unable to see the standard of the food beforehand. The food was very disappointing […] even fot the modest cost. Les mer
"enjoyed"
Enjoyed our stay would come back again
"no windows"
was in a room with no windows(styfling) next to stair lift and drilling noise all night. bloody awfull.

"Prince-ly"
We've stayed here before and we quite like the old fashioned quirkyness about it; the staff were very helpful and breakfast was as wonderful as we remember. Would stay again :)
"The Prince of Wales Hotel"
I stayed 2 nights in this hotel and I was extremely comfortable. The room was nicely furnished. The grouting in the bathroom needed attention, but otherwise was adequate with a super shower etc. My breakfast was delicious and plenty of it. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Over all, my stay was very pleasant and I would certainly stay there […] again. Les mer
Absolute disgrace...
"hotel and staff"
The hotel and staff came up to expectations, the only prblem that the room we had ,had a window to high for us to see out off we did ask to be moved but nothing was available. As we were only there or one night we had to put up with it. If we were staying any longer we would not have been very happy
"Prince of Wales Southport"
Hotel was in a great position but it is looking a little tired
"Prince of Wales Hotel"
Although the room was booked at the last min, I would have expected better for the costs. What may once have been an elegant hotel, is obviously in dire need of investment and updating. Possibly this hotel was very nice back when it's name sake was born, in this modern day and age, it is sadly lacking the attention needed to attract clients back. The […] carpets were very worn, tiles cracked in the bathroom, shower head obviously very old. We were woken 2x by the cleaners once with them entering the room while we were still in bed! Breakfast was served with most items self service, from extremely hot canteen style service trays. The levels of fat in the trays was repulsive, and should have been drained before service. The smell of the breakfast was found throughout the hotel, and so I believe the ventilation needs review. It could be smelt on my clothes even when we had left the hotel. The cost to park outside the hotel should be included in the room price, however we were charged £2 extra for the pleasure of parking within the grounds. All I have to say extra is that I'm glad we had a one night only stay, and won't be revisiting. Les mer
"Prince of Wales Hotel in Southport"
Excellent location but the hotel is lacking in a great many areas. Specifically, the hotel seems to be poorly maintained. We booked a room with a Jazuzzi as a treat for our 6 year old son; upon arrival the Jacuzzi wasn't working and couldn't be fixed during our stay. The bedroom window also wouldn't close and the bathroom lighting was defective. Our […] room on the first floor was also adjacent to the Windsor Suite and hence we were subjected to loud music until the early hours of the morning. Some thought, perhaps, should have gone into not placing a young familty in that location. Having stayed in numerous hotels in the UK, US and Asia, the hotel is extremely expensive for the standard it provides. There are much better similar priced options in the area. A hugely disappointing experience all round. Les mer
"Prince of Wales SouthporHave you seen the shining?"
The first room we were given was dark, small, tired,... actually quite exhausted! situated down some scary corrodors .The window was made of frosted glass but was so dirty that if it had been clear I would still not have been able to see out of it.Tiles round the bath were black with old mould. The bedsheets although clean had a couple of stains on […] them. Poor quality bed and thin poor quality quilt. I asked to be moved and was put on the third floor where at least we had light. The room was bigger as was the bathroom but I was still not looking forward to spending the night here. Breakfast was ok but remnants from dinner (roast potatoes, chips, were scattered around the floor. i could go on but would prefer to forget about this experience. Could not wait to get out in the morning. Les mer
"Prince of wales hotel"
We had a nice stay at the prince of wales in southport, it was very good value for money the room was a little on the small side but very clean. Food was excellent. My only critisism was that the bed was past its best and was very very squeaky and quite anoying.
"Excellent town centre location"
My Wife and I stayed for just one night at the Prince of Wales. Our room was spacious with large bathroom and everything we needed. The staff were very friendly both on reception and in the dining room. Breakfast was excellent. This was our second stay at the Prince of Wales and we shall not hesitate to return. Would happily recommend for a short b […] reak. Les mer
"Prince of Wales - Excellent Location"
Arrived to find no space in the car park and street parking full. Also was not informed when making the booking there would be a £2 per night charge to use hotel car park. Check in was ok. Given no information regarding breakfast - discovered this by reading the litreature in the room. Went up to the room to find basic 3 * but functional. Dated furnishings […] but it is a old property so it was expected. Clean and comfortable. Shower hot and pressure good. No curtain on the window but was frosted, this meant could not open the window. This was difficult as it was very warm and really needed to be open to let the steam out. The complimentry toiltries are cheap so take your own as we did. Lots of guests were in the 65 plus age group and when the lift broke down on sunday we watch them struggle up the stairs. We stayed 4 nights and lift was still awaiting repairs when we came home. Breakfast ( buffet )was hot and plentifull. Good selection and dinning room is pleasent. We stayed had ea evening meal £9.95 per person for a buffet 3 course which was excellent value. The tv in the lounge would be better mounted on the wall so more guests could enjoy it as at present only thos who are sitting in front can see the screen. We enjoyed our stay but would book a more modern hotel in the future. Les mer
"Not so Princely"
This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel, the 1st time was very good indeed, this time however the room was sub standard and small for a double. The service was not as good either, a smile at the reception would not go amiss. We do like southport and for access the hotel is very central, however the hotel good benefit with a bit of updating […] and opening up the other downstair areas for resident use. "Lovely characterful hotel in town centre"
The Prince of Wales is a delightful hotel for mthe Victorian era full of character. The ballroom and other functions rooms are just incredible - they don't build 'em like that anymore! My room was very pleasant - all I could wish for and clean and spacious. The location of this hotel is just perfect - on the main tree-lined boulevard of Lord Street […] but to one end so not noisy. "Prince of Wales in Southport - near town centre..."
We visit this hotel at least annually and have found it improving year by year. This year in particular we were provided with a more spacious room in a quiet location. The staff are generally very obliging, in particular the restaurant and bar personnel, and I find the food is of very good quality, varied and very reasonably priced.
"Good Value"
After reading previous negative reviews my wife and I were pleasantly surprised with all aspects of our 2 night stay at the Prince of Wales. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had booked a double room but appeared to have been allocated a twin only to find we were in a large room with 2 double beds. Food at breakfast was good. The hotel is in an […] ideal location on Southport's main street. Would be happy to stay there again and recommend to others. Les mer
"Excellent"
An excellent hotel located on the main street of the town with easy access to all locations. Well looked after by all staff and the meals were very good. The only slight drawback was access to the lift as I had my mother with me who is in a wheelchair, there was only room for the both of us in it,which caused problems for others in the same sitouation. I […] would recomend this hotel to others even though there was this slight drawback Les mer
"Not impressed"
For a 3 star hotel, I was not impressed (and I've stayed in a lot of hotels over the years). I waited at reception for 15 minutes to check in and 10 minutes to check out. There was no queue but only 1 receptionist despite 3 people being in the office area. I don't know how they would cope with a lot of people checking in/out at the same time. The […] staff were friendly when I did get served though. The bed was the most uncomfortable that I've experienced - I could feel the mattress springs. The bathroom was not as clean as I would have liked, one of the towels was marked / stained, the sink and glass were not really clean and the free toiletries were poor - 2 bars of soap. On the plus side there was a good choice at breakfast although the scrambled eggs probably came out of a bottle - to be avoided. The service at breakfast though was very efficient. Les mer
"Faded Grandeur"
Old and tired, but no complaints, certainly not at the price. Staff were friendly, room was clean and a good size. Main downside was the noise from Lord Street late at night. It's at times like those you realise the benefits of double glazing. Otherwise fine.
"we'll be back"
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Prince of Wales Southport. Everything was absolutely fine. Special mention should be made for the first-class breakfast provided.
