This hotel was great! We were upgraded to a suite and it was very spacious. The room was spotless and the hotel was only about 3 blocks to the shops and resturants. We will book here every time we come to Chattanooga. We were debating between this hotel and the Choo Choo, we had family staying at the Choo Choo and feel that the Sheraton had the better […] rooms. I think our room was in the older part of the hotel. The view outside our window was of the wall of the adjoining building and our room was very noisy. We could hear people in the room next to us as well as outside. Otherwise the hotel is nice, bed very comfortable and location is great. Our bathroom needed a major makeover. Some mold, but mostly just a 2-star condition - enamel in the tub and on the bathroom tiles was cracked, worn or missing and walls were dirty. The suite room was spacious enough and the bed comfy, but still a dated and tired feel to the furniture and art.

The pool and jacuzzi area are great. The beds are extremely comfortable. The hotel staff was courteous and helpful (the front desk person even waived the credit card hold at registration as I had no expected it and was traveling only with cash). We had no hot water during our stay. A call was placed to the front desk about the issue and it was never resolved.

The room was so nice we didn't want to leave! Though we had a standard room, not a suite, there was a couch and sitting area. The bed was comfortable and the lobby was beautiful. We ate in the Porter's for breakfast, and the food was excellent. My husband had the buffet and there were plenty of options. I had the eggs benedict, which I would reccommend.There […] is also a Starbucks in the lobby. The location was convenient for exploring the waterfront, and the free shuttle stopped right nearby. Let me first begin by saying, that this was my first extended trip to Chattanooga. I had passed thru a couple of times before without actually spending the night. I really do like the city and I would recommend that everyone visit it at least once. It's a small city with great history and it's on the upswing. There is a cultural revitalization going […] on, and it should be a booming little city once VW begins operations at the new plant. I can't wait to revisit the city many times in the coming years. I had a great time on my weekend trip, save for the wretched hotel we stayed in: the Sheraton. The Chattanooga Sheraton is an historic hotel that was "renovated" back in 2004. It looks like it was renovated in 1984. The lobby is nice and the wood-panel walls and hand-carved designs on the ceiling are rather impressive. But once you get past the lobby, it's all down hill. Your journey begins in the elevator, where you are greeted with a sauna-like atmosphere. I'm not sure if the elevator's AC system was out, or just non-existent, but you get a blast of 90 degree heat and complimentary humidity the second you enter the elevator. You get to enjoy those amenities for the duration of your elevator trip, and your stay at the Sheraton. The fun continues as you walk down the chilly 80-degree conditioned hallways to your actual hotel room, as you walk on carpeted floors that look like they haven't been cleaned since the 1920s. Then you enter your hotel room, which has scenic views of a dirty alley with long-views of the building next door. But you won't mind the view, as you're basking in the 77-degree temps of your cozy room. The climate is controlled by a universal motel-style under-window ac/heater combo unit like you can find at the finest Econo-Lodges and Super-8 Motels all across the good ole USA. The only difference however, is that the units at those motels ACTUALLY WORK and DO NOT LEAK WATER ALL OVER THE FLOOR. Our "AC" unit ran non-stop all weekend, and barely kept Les mer

The rooms had a nostalgic feel. Nice. There were no refrigerator in the rooms (for water). This hotel was a bit too far from the Aquarium and some of the nicer restaurants. Negative: We couldn't walk outside at night without someone begging from money. A bit frustrating.

This hotel was easy to get to and parking outside was ample. The meters are free on the weekend which was great! There is a free electric shuttle right across from the Starbucks in the lobby. The room was clean and the king bed was incredibly comfortable. The only complaint was the temperature in our room never got very cold.

This hotel is in a historical building so it has the beauty of a classic upscale hotel but also shows he wear and tear of an aged structure. Although it is clean and comfortable, there are areas (the room's closet, the floor's vending area and the pool lounge area) that appear to have suffered sever water damage yet never repaired. I've stayed here […] twice and was suprpised to find evidence of this neglect in different areas each time. However, the staff is freindly and accomodating and I will definately be staying here again. Les mer

The room was very large and comfortable, however for the price we felt the $15.00 parking fee should have been included in the price of the room.

This elegant hotel was a great choice and my wife and I will stay here again. This building is pretty old but has been well maintained as well as nicely preserved - some of the old timey touches are still there and lend a romantic feel to the hotel. My room did not really have a view but the king size bed was even more comfortable than the one in my […] home. We had the breakfast buffet our first morning (in the adjoining "Porters" restaurant) which was very good if a little pricey. Included french toast, biscuits and country gravy, grits, scrambled eggs, sausage links and patties, bacon, fresh cut fruit, cottage cheese, danish, muffins, juices, milk, and Starbucks coffee. The hotel features a steakhouse restaurant, Porters, as well as a full Starbucks coffee shop. Everyone in the hotel and the associated businesses were very friendly. The hotel is meant to have parking but I wasn't able to find this and just used the valet service (for a charge plus tip). The valets were fast, friendly, helpful, and informative as they asked us if we needed directions every time we left the lot. The hotel is a short distance from the Tennessee Aquarium (right down Broad Street) and this area of town had several restaurants/bars/theaters for entertainment. I recommend this hotel for a pleasant stay in downtown Chattanooga. Only one thing left a bad taste in my mouth - someone came by the room at 12:30 at night and knocked a few times. Apparently someone ordered more towels (though it wasn't us). I feel like they should double check the room number for these things when it gets so late. Les mer

Parking fee $15 overnight. Add tips and price of rooms goes up $25-30. But nice historic hotel.

Everything from the keys not working, no place to put anything in the bathroom, no lighting in the dressing area, and hazardous wiring hanging from the TV set on the wall.

Great hotel. Very nice, helpful staff, nice quiet rooms. For breakfast I recommend walking down the street to either Greyfriars on 4th or over to Panera bread on Market St. Valet parking expensive but typical; may be able to find cheaper street parking; valets were very helpful.

I have stayed many times and LOVE IT. Chattanooga, 30 minutes from Home but love to stay downtown.

Overall my stay was a positive experience. The hotel facilities, room accommodations and cleanliness, and downtown location were all excellent, however, the front desk was very short-staffed. I had to wait extended periods of time at check in and check out, and needed to ask questions on a different occasion, and there was only one person working the […] front desk on each of those occasions. I would still recommend this hotel, and enjoyed my 2 night stay, but hope they will improve their staffing issues. Les mer

The Sheraton staff is fabulous!! They are very friendly, helpful, & genuinely nice. The room was smaller than I expected and the sofa bed was in poor shape. On the other hand the bed was SOOOOO comfy & everything smelled bleachy clean (in a good way). The pool is very nice, watch the floor it is very slippy when wet. For the price it was ok.

We were very pleased with this hotel. It was beautiful. Valet parking, beautiful lobby and great restaurant. Starbucks right in the building. Just up the street from the aquarium and other attractions. Lots of entertainment right across the street. Absolutly PERFECT. The pool was beautiful and clean indoors. Got way more than I expected. We were there for the music festival (which was just one block over) and the room was so nice we didn't want to leave it.

We were delighted with the Sheraton Read House!! The hotel is beautiful, the architecture, the ambiance, and the rooms were superb. We stayed in a suite and the cost was by far less than what I would have expected for the quality of the hotel. The staff was so helpful from the front desk to the bellboy/valet. They went out of their way to accommodate […] us ie taking us and picking us up in our car for dinner. The rooms were spotless, the furniture comfortable--especially the bed. All the corners, tables, etc were perfect with no residue or dust (which I have found in the nicest accommodations). This hotel is like finding a jewel--we can't wait to go back to Chattanooga and stay longer--in the Read House!! Les mer

We came in for a one night stay July 4th weekend. More activities were going on at North Shore, so it was a little drive to get there, and the shuttles were not running a normal schedule for the holiday weekend. But, the hotel had most of what we needed, quiet enough, clean enough, and close enough to the freeway to drive. Would have preferred walking […] distance to the river for activities. And, we avoided paying for parking by parking on the street, it was a quiet area reputed to be pretty safe. Les mer

I had a Preferred Guest Room. It was huge. It was beautiful. Had all the amenities. I just hope it heats better in winter than it cools in summer. This tiny ac unit one would expect in a small Motel 6 room couldn't possibly cool or heat these large rooms. Very uncomfortable for sleeping. They could replace the dome light above the bed with a ceiling […] fan. Other than that, I liked the place. Les mer
