Koselig hotell. Fint bassengområde og treningsstudio. Helt ålreite rom. Vennlig og hjelpsomt personal. Eneste minus er avstanden til sentrum som er litt i lengste laget til fots, ellers ikke noe å utsette ved oppholdet.

After reading such good reviews I was hoping for a better experience and not so many problems. I was disappointed over all but leisure / pool area v nice!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff very friendly and helpful, good restaurant food (the Lemon Drizzle cake was particularly delicious!)- lovely swimming pool and jacuzzi - would recommend! Yes, some of the decor could do with updating, but it didn't affect our experience here. Would come back!

Not sure where to start. The hotel is a bit tired. The room and bed were clean and comfortable. A peaceful location. The bathroom was awful, not dirty, but very old, lots of limescale on taps and shower curtain (uhh!) I did not have a shower, couldn't face get into it (fortunately only 1 night stay) Our evening meal in the restaurant was very good., Breakfast […] was poor ( served 8-10) even at 9am very little left, people were waiting for more eggs which did eventually appear by which time I just couldn't be bothered with it all. The way it was all presented was not very appealing. I has some toast & marmalade, a cup of tea and couldn't wait to leave. My husband used the pool and sauna, which he said was very nice. I would have liked the staff to be forthcoming with info about the hotel (ie breakfast times and facilties available etc) rather than have to ask. surely this should be part of the welcome. All we got was, write address, car reg and sign this form please. I did not feel welcome. Les mer

Stayed at this Hotel, from the 10th Feb to the 12th. Well what can i say, we arrived and was given our room which was very nice, clean and comfortable. We ate in the Hotel both nights and the food was fantastic!! The Pool was lovely and the Jacuzzi even better, very relaxing. The hotel was conveniently located but is looking decidedly tired. The ensuite bathroom had mildew stained tiles and the toilet flush over the bath was pure Heath Robinson. Room was a good size and breakfast excellent but I feel the place is due for an overhaul.

Greatly enjoyed our stay - we chose the hotel principally for convenience as it was within walking distance of our Christmas venue with relatives, but were very pleased indeed with our choice, greatly appreciated the comfort, leisure centre, lovely breakfast - really would recommend it and would certainly return

i was very happy on my stay on 9 - 10 12 -2011very friendly aprochable staff menue is good but room for improwment on occasions i have been to the bar there was no staff each time had to use the phone (evenings) very good facilities spa swimmingpool etc but the rooms looks tired n i beliave needs attantion aspecialy the bathrooms thankyou.

I was travelling to Ipswich with a friend, primarily to attend the Ipswich v Watford football match at Portman Road. I am a Watford fan and was very pleased with our 2-1 win - but enough about that! I chose the Belstead Brook Hotel as it had a swimming pool, jaccuzi and steam room - relaxation options after the game. And they were all very good. I would certainly recommend the hotel to others. My only slight negative - the hotel is in a quiet area of Ipswich away from the town centre and took some finding from the A12. There are signposts but it is easy to miss them. That said, being in a quiet area was a bonus as I did not hear a sound during the night. Overall a very pleasant experience. Les mer

warm, welcoming and comfortable hotel. Lovely old hunting lodge so has unique features, could do with some TLC but had a lovely stay. If you like modern soulless hotels, this is not for you. Old charming hotel, large clean rooms, real opening windows, good storage space. TV could be better. Restaurant is a 18th century room with fireplace and stained […] glass window. Had meal in bar very good. Used local buses to town easy. BUT hard to locate, not well sign posted and buried in modern housing estate so use your sat nav! We would come back again for sure. Les mer

we stayed for 3 nights ,we have stayed here before, the room was very comfortable,breakfast was first class,excellent service,the leisure pool and spa was also excellent,i think the only thing i would like improved would be a more reasonable priced evening menu,perhaps the reception staff could promote the amenities on offer,albeit they are polite.

I found the staff to be helpful and friendly and the food was good. The thing that let the hotel down was the bedroom really needed a good clean. The room we stayed in the shower could do with a better clean and was shocked to find a previous guests nail clippings over the floor (Yuk) and the headboard didn't look like it had seen a clean in a long […] while. They really need to work on the cleanliness of the bedrooms. Les mer

we had a super time. the breakfasts were brilliant...plenty of choice, especially for the cooked food. Access to the leisure facilities was really good at the end of a hot, active day of sight seeing. The area was well situated to many beautiful places which we took the opportunity to visit. The only issue I had was that the pillows were very hard and […] I ended up with a painful neck and shoulder. Perhaps a choice of firmness could be available for softies like me!!! I had a very pleasant 3 night stay at the Belstead Brook Hotel near Ipswich. It was extended some time ago but I stayed in the orignal accomodation which was very comfortable. The restaurant and room service was very good. The indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were ideal and I made good use of them during my stay. The only downside […] was that although I managed to book a manicure and pedicure within 2 hours of my arrival which was excellent I was unable to book a massage despite giving the 24 hours notice advertised. Food was excellant though expensive. Room satisfactory. Staff very good, Building and maintenance dated, taps in bathroom loose etc. Location looked excellant on website, in reality was very poor, the "large" lawn was small! and the hotel was surrounded by a houseing estate, not what I expected.

Great place to stay, close enough to Ipswich centre but you wouldn't know it from the surroundings, right on the edge of civilisation... Very friendly staff, fabulous leisure facilities & a great restaurant that you will need to book at weekends. Had a bit of trouble finding the place but on arrival found a map in the room that we wish we had before […] we started. We were given the wrong key on arrival & had Flowers & Champagne in the room, the wife was very pleased, thinking i'd gone all romantic, until we realised we were in the wrong room. My wife and I stayed for 2 days,we found all the staff who we came into contact with friendly and very helpful. The room was comfortable and quiet,you can't ask for more than that.

this is the third time we have stayed the service is alway very friendly and efficient without being over the top. The food in the restaurant is excellent a pity not many guests use it, if we lived closer we would to there for all special occasions. The leisure facilities are fantastic, the hot tub is like getting into a nice bath but with the added […] bonus of bubbles. Can't wait to book to go again Les mer

We really enjoyed staying at the Belstead Brook. It was beautiful and comfortable. The only problem was finding it! Be sure to nail down directions for getting to the hotel from Ipswich and back before driving there, or take a taxi. If you don't get lost, you'll find an enjoyable experience.

The Belstead Brook Hotel is a lovely old house with great potential, but sadly it is very tired and in need of redecoration. The staff are lovely and friendly and the food in the restaurant was good. Good, varied breakfast. We decided to stay at this hotel mainly due to it's location. We were visting friends in the area and this hotel was the closest, however that turned out to be a wonderful coincidence. We had a fantastic weekend. The hotels atmosphere is relaxing, the staff are pleasant and very helpful, the food it top quality and the rooms very comfortable, and in […] good condition. Upon arrival we were made to feel welcome and the check in process was easy and smooth. There is also plenty of parking. We found our room easily and it was clean and tidy with all mod cons including hair dryer, iron & ironing board. Bathroom was a little dated but was clean and the shower worked well so no complaints. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna […] & steam room were fantastic and we spent lots of time here over the weekend. Towels are provided by reception which is handy and there is a free drinking water machine by the side of the pool which is most welcome after 10 mins in the sauna! There is a spa area where you can book up massages etc - priced as you would usually expect from any salon but we did not use this facility. The bar area is small and fairly quiet - often the bar is unattended but a phone is provided to call reception to request bar service when required. The front lawn has a giant chess game and benches so that you can take your drinks outside - lovely place to sit and relax in the sunshine. There is also a hotel restaurant and you will need to reserve a table. The atmosphere is lovely, candle-lit and romantic for couples. We had the 3 course set price meal - was £21 each for 3 courses which was ok but maybe a little pricey for the quality of the food. But over all the service was great and we had a lovely chilled out and relaxed meal. The hotel offers wedding packages and there was a wedding reception taking place on the Saturday night however this was in one of the function rooms so did not interfere with our evening. Over all this is a lovely hotel which is perfect for couples who just want to get away from it all for a couple of days. It could do with a lick of paint here and there but it all adds to the character of the building. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back given the chance and will be recommending it to my friends. Les mer

Staff very helpful,food in restaurant very nice and ample selection for the buffet breakfast, all in all I would recomend this hotel although I would try to get a room that has a little more air, we should have noticed that there was already an electric fan in the room , my only other problem was that whilst using the swimming pool that people using […] the sauna and steam rooms dive straight into the pool to cool down and get rid of all their sweat which I feel is not right (there are no poolside showers ) Les mer

Thank goodness there are signs to show direction as we would never have found it, once there the surroundings are very nice and peaceful. Although there was a wedding when we arrived the staff were all very attentive. Check in was smooth, the room was very nice up in the roof with a seperate little sitting area with tv and archway to bedroom. Bathroom […] could do with an update but was serviceable. We had room service on the first night which was very nice and arrived quite quickly. Breakfast was a nice choice with buffet on sunday morning but as there was a drop in guest numbers on the monday it was cooked to order and was excellent. The leisure area with pool, jacuzzi, steam room & sauna was lovely, it was the warmest hot tub we have ever been in. The pool was clean and it was nice that you could relax after with a coffee and a lounge with up to date magazines and daily newspaper. Overall a very enjoyable experience and we will be going back, in fact this was better than a 4* hotel we have stayed in near Norwich. Les mer

This hotel iis only 60+ miles from our home, so is convenient for our needs.(in our 70s) not too far away but far enough to say we are away. We like the area and can travel to see different places of interest. If we wish to stay in and enjoy the facilities we can.

We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this hotel, in one of the garden rooms. The room had all we needed but could do with an upgrade as it was looking a little tired. The shower was very tempremental! Value for money was excellent for the last minute break we booked. The breakfast was plentiful and of a good standard. Convenient, quiet location, well […] signposted for ease of access. Beautiful grounds and an interesting building. Reception staff friendly and helpful and the same could be said for some, but not all, of the restaurant staff at breakfast time. We cannot rate this hotel highly enough. A warm and friendly place in fantastic surroundings. This hotel should have more than 3 stars in my opinion. The pool and jacuzzi in the leisure centre is wonderfully relaxing, you can even lounge around the pool on a sunbed! A lovely restaurant with great food. What more could you ask for. Some reviewers mention […] tired rooms, I understand that they are working on refurbishing all the hotel rooms and we were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to a wonderful refurbished room with a comfty queen bed. Yes the rooms are a bit tired and could do with updating, but they are clean and everything works, This is more than made up for by the great service. A very pleasant hotel,with nice staff,I found the room a little tired and could do with a little updating (gold plating on bath taps fading) However it was a very pleasant stay with good use of the swimming pool made,however on my particular day the sauna was not working.the food was up to a good standard. the grounds were pleasant.

Stayed at this hotel for one night and had a great room and breakfast at an excellent price. Staff were very pleasant and friendly, saying good morning in passing etc. I didn't get time to look at the grounds but saw an outside seating area with tables that looked inviting. We stayed here whilst attending a wedding in Ipswich, and so do not have time to use the lovely looking swimming pool. The hotel was clean and comfortable. It had more character than the usual chain hotels, and a few extra touches you don't find in the main chains. There were biscuits with the tea and coffee, and there was also hot chocolate available. […] There was a bottle of water with real glasses in the room, and a couple of mint chocolates too! Yes, the taps in the bathroom had seen better days, but the shower was good and powerful, and plenty of hot water. The towels were large enough, and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was fine, usual buffet style with enough choice. We did not experience dinner or the bar here. What more do you need in a hotel? I would certainly recommend it to anyone staying in Ipswich, and would use it again myself. Les mer

My daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights 8 - 10 July 2009. Despite being in a suburb of Ipswich it was very quiet with extensive well-maintained grounds. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful and the room was clean with comfortable beds, although the bathroom could do with updating and the shower was a bit lack-lustre and tricky to turn […] off. Our only gripe with the room was the television reception which was dire. None of the channels were tuned into the correct number and in these days of digital television the picture quality was diabolical. We mentioned this to the receptionist on Thursday evening and she said she would ask the maintenance staff to look at the tv the next day but this did not happen. I tuned in the channels myself in the eventually. The breakfast was nice although when we arrived, half an hour before end of breakfast service on both mornings, there was virtually no fruit or pastries left - we felt these should have been replenished with 30 minutes of breakfast remaining. Otherwise our stay was excellent value for money having got a last minute offer through Hotel.com. Les mer

Well this is now our 6th time back to Belstead Brook Hotel this year, apart from previous times. Nothing changes, nice hotel, ALL the staff are really friendly,Food great and good service .The swimming and other facillities GREAT !!!!!

bathroom needs updating gold! taps very worn, and I have never had to flush the toilet in the shower before. Basin taps so smooth you could not grip them with wet hands. Wallpaper lifting of the wall and looked grubby. Had to ring for service in the bar in the afternoon but drinks were brought to us. Breakfast buffet was on the whole luke warm.
