This hotel was disappointing. The staff weren't very welcoming and gave very minimal information at check in (didn't even tell us when/where breakfast was), the staff at breakfast were blunt and not very approachable. After staying at 2 gorgeous hotels before this one (both of which were 4 star) we have no idea how this hotel was given 4 stars... the […] rooms weren't very nice and quite dated, the bidet was dirty (I turned the taps on to see if it worked and orange water came out!). I realise that it was out of season when we stayed there but the whole place looked very run down. Plus, the room description say that there was a phone, climate control and blackout blinds... which it did not. Luckily Siena is lovely and that made up for it. Les mer

We have stayed here before but got turned around and couldn't remember how to get to the hotel, we called and unfortunately didn't get much help from the receptionist. They should know how to get to the hotel from the train station, but thanks to the many hotel signs along the way we got ourselves there, the rest of the time we were there the service […] was very good. Don't get room 151 outside of the main hotel building, it's probably the cheapest room in the hotel and most likely because it feels like a cave, dark with no view. We asked to upgrade to a room with a city view, which we got and paid more for, room 331. If you get the superior room, the wifi is included, and so is your minibar, otherwise it's 3 euro an hour for internet and you pay for the minibar. Parking is free. We had a straight on view of Siena, which was nice. The room was very clean but also adjacent to the elevator so there was a little noise. The walls are very thin between rooms, the banging of suitcases and the sneezing next door, a little loud, my husband's snoring, probably worse for them. I wear earplugs so nothing bothers me, slept like a baby in the big bed. The bathroom came with the usual amenities, shampoo, soap, hairdryer, bidet, and a good sized shower, no tub. Flat screen tv with BBC and CNN. The room was a little tight if you have large luggage but doable. The hotel says it's walking distance to Siena and it is but it was a long 30-45 minute minimum walk to the Campo. It wiped us out but be warned that it is chaos driving closer to the city and even harder finding parking, unless you are comfortable maneuvering a tangle of streets, I would recommend taking the bus that runs right outside the hotel, the number 6. The hotel will tell you where to catch it and sell you the tickets, it will drop you right outside the gate to the city. The breakfast was a nice buffet with eggs, bacon, cereal, breads, fruit, meats, cheeses, juices, coffees, etc. The bar puts on a nice noshy bar snack Les mer

Firstly, the hotel is quite far away from Siena old town and not 10-15 min walk as stated in the website.. you need to take a bus or walk for more than 30 mins at least. And while the staff were courteous, there were no personal touch and not very helpful.. Claiming to be a 4-star hotel, I had problem getting someone's help just to put my heavy luggage […] into my car when I checked out! The room - decorated in garden style, is quite comfortable although quite old-fashion. The quality of breakfast is just so-so - choices were ok. One plus point is the hotel has ample parking space in its grounds and overall quite green. However it's not 4-star to me and service also left much to be desired.. not value for money. Les mer

This is the first time my wife and I have come home from holiday saying that we would return to an hotel. We found the location perfect being on a local bus route but also only a 15/20 minute level walk from the city walls. We stayed a week and the room was kept immaculately clean at all times. The service was attentive without being over-bearing. […] Of particular mention was the provision of free snacks in the bar all evening - a bonus if you had a big lunch! The food at breakfast, and in the evening, was excellent although the evening menu was limited if you are staying all week - we ate in the restaraunt twice. Better than your average Italian hotel! Hotel Garden was a rennovated older hotel. The bathroom was very nice and updated. The room was small with limited space for luggage. The elevator was very small. My husband and I had to go separately with our luggage but at least there was an elevator. Breakfast was very nice. Plenty of parking as well.

This is a busy, noisy hotel which seems to specialise in short stays for coach tours and conferences. It is not an ideal place to stay for a quiet, relaxing holiday. We booked a "standard room" in the old building which was small, tatty and had problems with drainage smells from the shower. We were given the choice of another room which was equally […] pokey and even had human hairs on the bed cover!! As a result of our complaint the stand in manager upgraded us to a deluxe room which had obviously had had the update that the other rooms desperately needed. This hotel had 5 stars from hotels.com and describes itself as a 4 star hotel. All I can say is I have stayed in 3 and 4 star hotels all over Italy and this one can not compete with any of them in my opinion. We ate in the restaurant on 2 evenings - the menu didn't change all week and the setting was rather bizarre in that the centre of the room still had all the heated containers for breakfast on a large table. The food was equally strange - I had an excellent, perfectly cooked fillet steak but accompagnied by soggy overcooked cabbage and a couple of cold chunky "chips" !! The staff seemed very busy and did not interact with customers in the usual friendly Italian way - having said that the american barman was fun. If you have a room anywhere near the bar forget getting to sleep before midnight! If we had known that this hotel specialised in such high turnover, short stay clients we would have not chosen it. I hope those reading this review who are looking for a quiet few days in Sienna take my advice and find another hotel. Les mer

Hotel Garden in Siena is a beautiful oasis overlooking Siena. Friendly and helpful staff to nagivate your stay in Siena. Delicious and plentiful breakfast served on the terrace. East trip to heart of Siena.

Although longish walk to Sienna. The views of the city are good from the terrace and hotel grounds are spacious. Good swimming pool area and facilities. Good bar and breakfast with friendly staff

Good breakfast spread with great views of Siena in the distance. We walked into the downtown area and back with no problem. If you don't want to stroll for 30 minutes. the 6 bus runs directly outside the hotel gate. Nice pool area, mosquito repellant a plus. Of all the people at the front desk, Adele at the desk was extremely helpful with reservations. […] Our standard room in the annex was very damp even with the a/c on. The safe is tiny and worked with a key. The shower was small with weak water pressure. Perhaps an upgraded room would have been nicer. The public spaces in the main building were very comfortable. Location is a problem if you plan to spend most of your time in the city center - shopping, dining, visiting museums or attending a special event like the Palio. It is a solid 30+ minute walk to the Piazza del Campo. Bus service outside the hotel is available. It runs on the 1/2 hour. The schedule changes on Saturdays and holidays. On Saturdays the […] No. 6 bus stops running at 7:30PM requiring taxi service back to the hotel. The hotel charges for internet service use. Food at the hotel is good and the outdoor dining facilities were very pleasant on a beautiful summer evening. The room was good in size and the bed comfortable. The air conditioning worked well. This could be a good hotel if you have a car - there is parking at the hotel. It is not well suited for the traveler using mass transit. Les mer

we stayed in 18 different hotels in a two and a half week driving trip round italy, this hotel is the only one i would not recommend to a friend. website and main building very grand and impressive, but these are slightly misleading. the majority of the accomodation is in the annex building that i feel has a slight holiday camp feeling. Our room was dated, but clean. the bathroom was dirty around the edges and in need of a major refurb. good points, the hotel has good parking, has a swimming pool, and is about a forty minute walk from the heart of siena. Nice enough, but not in the center of town altough there is bus service near the hotel which saves the trouble of parking in town. It is very quiet there. Like almost everything in Italy, the price is high.

Great resort property hotel close to Siena but away from the noise of the scooters and traffic. Fantastic breakfast and great pool area with staffed bar. The hotel staff is great. Great views of Siena from our room.

Siena was our 3rd stop in Italy before our last stop in Rome. It was also our favorite area that we visited in Italy. We were looking for a little relaxation before visiting the hustle and bustle of Rome. It was exactly what we were looking for. The hotel is a short cab ride from the center square or you could walk or take a bus. There are beautiful […] gardens and a pool area for lounging. The breakfast buffet that was included with the cost of the room was good, typical for Italy. The hotel staff was great, especially Mario who was one of the bartender/waiters. This hotel was a huge plus to our trip to Italy. Service, cleanliness, and grounds were all A One. Note: it is named the Hotel Garden for a good reason. The breakfast is a great start to every day. We had an early train trip one morning that was prior to the breakfast start time of 7:00 a.m. We asked if it would be possible to have some fruit available […] when we were to leave that morning. The desk clerk said, "how about if we fix you up two sacks with fruit, sandwiches, juice and snacks, to be ready when you leave"? I would recommend this place to anyone!! Les mer

Very quaint and the grounds were kept beautiful. Hotel staff very helpful. WiFi reasonable. Breakfast was displayed with a lot of class. Meats, Cheese, breads, cakes, fruits, eggs, juices, and coffee. Really done wonderful. Free parking unlike the rest of Siena. We did not have dinner there. Menu limited. Nice bar area. Bathroom was nice, but toilet […] placement too close to opposite wall. Being 6'1", had to spread legs up against wall to sit down to use. They could have made the shower smaller and that would have solved the problem. In Europe you expect smaller showers. One English channel on the small TV set. CNN. One false note: Poor isolation from the room above ours (room 178). People walking gave a rumbling noise each time they move.

I stayed five nights at this hotel in one of their annexes. I was told on arrival I had been upgraded on my arrival. The gardens surrounding the hotel are lovely. Breakfast was range of cold food which was fine because I was there during warm weather. Staff were pleasant. The hotel is approximately half hour leisurely walk to the main wall at Siena […] (Piazza Guido Chigi Saracini?) but there are a number of buses or taxis you can take. Les mer

Hotel Garden was a lovely hotel in an old mansion. We stayed in one of the newer hotel room wings which was perfectly fine. The halls and walls had seen better days, but the hotel was clean and the staff was more than helpful. This is a short bus ride from Sienna, not really walkable as the hotel is on top of a hill. We were driving, so the free parking […] was a big plus. I liked that we were in one of the nearby suburbs of Sienna. One of my missions was to buy an international phone while I was abroad that would not cost me on a monthly basis to maintain. There is a Vodafone store about two blocks away from the hotel where I was able to purchase a phone and an Italian SIM card, so I got my errand done with plenty of time left to enjoy Sienna. Food at the hotel was good but a little pricy. Bus service stops at about 8:00 or 8:30 at night, so if you decide to dine out, make plans to take a taxi home if you are out late. If you have a car, as we did, you can drive closer to the city, but finding a parking space might be difficult. Les mer

We enjoyed staying at Hotel Garden. The staff was very friendly and generous. They upgrade our room because there was a little problem, with no extra pay. the breakfast was fair , the hotel is beautiful and located relatively close to the attraction point ( we traveled by car). This hotel is close to the train station in Siena but don't believe the Hotel web site about a short walk if you are pulling 50 pounds of luggage like I was. The walk is a winding up hill walk from the station, I think at least 2 to 3 miles (I could be wrong). Save yourself and when you come out of the train station to your right is the taxi station...Get […] a taxi...it was 7.80 Euro during the day and 8.90 Euro at night...to me it was well worth it.... Super hotel, service and atmosphere.

We traveled Italy for four weeks and stayed here only one night. We piced it from Hotel.com reviews, and the fact that it was a little ways away from the busy town. It has wonderful views, and a fairly comfortable room. We were in a room near the elevator, tile floors in the hallway. It was extremely noisey wth people in and out. The worst part was […] no hot water. We were up early and could not shower, we called the front desk and they sent someone right away, but three hours later, afte breakfast and a morning jog, still no hot water. They were not vey helpful, I asked if we could use a room in a different wing to shower, and they would not help. I expect better service when I stay somewhere. I will not be returning to this hotel. WE stayed at hotel GARDEN for 4 nights.The hotel is located in walking distance to downtown, about 30 minutes walk, in quiet district. It had a nice patio with a view of the town, where you could eat breakfast or just sit there with a drink. The food in buffet breakfast had everything and was very good. THe rooms had very comfortable beds and bedding […] was just the best.. All hotel staff was very nice, all spoke english well. We had a pleasant stay and we would return again. Les mer

Although a bit away from the center of town, the Garden Hotel was a wonderful choice. With the view of Siena in the background, an inviting Terrace and beautiful grounds, this was one of our favorite hotels during our two week trip to Italy. Mid-way through our Milan – Venice – Florence – Rome vacation, we decided to take a couple of days off the tourist path to catch our breath. This was a very good decision. Siena became our favorite stop, and the Hotel Garden, our favorite hotel. A 5-7 Euro taxi (or a 1 Euro bus ticket) will take you anywhere in the city you want to go. When you want to leave the city behind, you have a nice pool in a garden setting awaiting. Surrounded by beautiful gardens. A lavish breakfast was included in the price. Location was quiet. Conveniently located near a public bus line for an easy ride into central Siena. Free parking. A positive experience!

Great stay with a great staff

It's a very romantic hotel/resort. There's a surprising large garden, tennis court, outdoor swimming pools. I'd definitely recommend it if you're on a trip with your sweetheart, and not in a rush. Excelant hotel, we had been in the old building which is preferable, very nice room and bath, very tasty breakfast, 5 monutes by car from the center of the old city of Sienna, fully recomended!

The hotel is located on top of a hill overlooking the area and is somewhat centrally located to the old part of the city. A short 15 walk from the hotel to one of the gates. If you have a car there is enough parking without an extra charge. I brought my laptop, but the wireless wasn't working in our room - others said it worked fine - there is a charge […] - 13 euro. The hotel provides the standard - coissent and meat breakfast and has a resturant for dinner, but we choose to eat locally. The rooms are your typical basic setup for Italy - tile floors, small tv, clean bathroom - but fine for a nite or two. Staff was friendly and helpful. One laughable note - the room key was connected to the heavyest brass ring i have ever used - don't drop this one!! Les mer

The location is not bad - about a 30 minute walk to the walled city. It's a peaceful setting in a quiet area. The European breakfast was quite good. The only shortcoming - and it's a major one in my opinion, is the internet access. There are two convoluted systems. For internet access in the room, you register and a password is sent by text message […] to your phone. I never received the text message and gave up. The other method is to use internet access in the hotel lobby. This option is very expensive (5 euros for 30 minutes!), and of course much less convenient. Les mer

Great place to stay and relax. Convenient to bus routes to downtown. Good tours arranged through Hotel. Pool area perfect to sit back and relax, get the book out and enjoy. Sitting area just off rooms to spend a comfortable evening. Would stay there again.

A pleasant hotel with pool that was much needed during our stay. Bar and restaurant staff where very nice and helpful. Close enough to Siena city. Breakfast a bit boring but that is to be expected in Italy. We would definitely stay again.
