Capistrano Seaside Inn - Dana Point

We paid an extra $10 for an upstairs room for an ocean view - which was mostly obscured by the trees just outside the window. The room was old and dirty. On the plus side was a fireplace, which we enjoyed and a balcony. The small TV balanced on top of the small microwave was an interesting approach to modernization. Great People...The BEST LOCATION. 1940's charming building. Needs Major renovation. However...the room was comfortable, service was good and you can not beat the view of the ocean!!

Very old motel that has not been very well maintained. Inside the room there were mouse droppings and saw a mouse at night chewing on a bagel bag and bagel. Trains went by about every hour at night and blowing their horns. The bathroom and appliances looked very old. The hotel room cost was very high and I would have pursued a refund, but it was prepaid […] on line to a third party. This hotel is in need for some updating. It is a little rough. Great location you can walk across to the beach. Great Mexican restaurant right down the street. We slept great & loved the sunsets & walking on the beach.

I left....it was so gross........would'nt even stay there! Went next door to Best Western.....should be shut down........priced way too high!

I lived in this area years ago and was familiar with this hotel as being a funky beach hotel but it has gone from funky to filthy. Didn't stay, checked it out and then had to find another hotel. Lesson learned, read the reviews and believe them.

Horrible experience! We even read the reviews, my boyfriend said..."it can't be THAT bad"... it was. We arent that picky so we even brought our own sheets and towels and figured it would be like camping. We had a wedding to go to and the reception was at the Marriott up the hill. By the time we paid for cabs back and forth, we could have stayed there […] instead for the same price! Would have been much better It was worse than camping, we got up and left at the crack of dawn, didn't shower, barely slept, will never return. Next time, we will spend the extra bucks... Les mer

The hotel is VERY old and in dire need of updating! I would give it no stars at all!!!!!

The hotel was on the ocean...and adjacent to the highway and active railroad track. The noise was bad. The a/c was a small unit in the window that did not allow the broken hanging blinds to close AND have cool air at the same time. The floor appeared dirty enough, I never touched it without shoes on. The one chair had multiple stains on the upholstery. […] There was no place to put my suitcase. Had I not arrived very late with tired children, I would have left to find something else. When we first got to the Seaside Inn, one of the rooms was not ready. After we checked the rooms out, one of the rooms were missing a bed so we had to wait even longer for the second room to be ready. Once we got into the room, paint on the tiles of the floor were chipping off and sticking to my feet. There was a hole in the ceiling where a fireplace […] use to be. When we took showers, the water leaked into the main room making big puddles. One of the puddles was right under an outlet and it was progressively getting bigger the longer we took a shower. The lamp that was inbetween the beds did not work and the lamp on the side of one bed was missing. The door in the shower did not close tightly and a spider crawled out of the drain as I was taking a shower. When I was getting ready for bed, 2 spiders were on the wall above my bed. The curtain on the main door was see-through and the window in the bathrooms was missing blinds. Also in one of the bathrooms, there was mysterious white plant growing out of the wall. We did not know if it was mold or not. On one of the rooms, it looked like the door had been broken into several times. There were holes in the comforter on the bed. A train goes by about every 20 minutes tooting its horn until about midnight. The Seaside Inn does have a carport to park cars but it is very low and our truck could not fit in it. You can hear people talking in the room next to you even if you were talking with your "inside" voice. It also doesn't have a very good sidewalk to walk to the crosswalk to get to the beach. It was a little gravel road but it is so far off to the side you don't notice it. The only good thing about the hotel room was the little area to sit right outside of your room because the plants were very nice and it was peaceful excluding the busy road and the train that went by every 20 minutes. We paid for 2 nights but we only stayed for one because it was just too much to handle. Les mer

This is the worst Hotel ever.The place is filthy.Everything was falling apart in our room.They don't clean it or bring you any clean towels.The place was empty and now I know why.Save your money,don't waste on this crappy place.We hated absolutely everything about this place and we aren't very fussy at all.

Terrible hotel. Manager showed absolutely no interest in resolving any issues. The room was exceptionally dirty and in a terrible state of disrepair. Bathrooms were disgusting. Booked in and paid for three nights but stayed for one. Blinds broken. Door wouldn't lock. Best thing about this hotel was leaving it.

This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in! If it had not been so late in the day we would have cancelled and gone somewhere else. There were cobwebs hanging from all of the walls and the bathroom had mold on just about everything. The floor was black with dirt and sand and there were used tissues under the bed. The lamp between the beds would not […] turn on, when we looked to see if it was plugged in we found the plug in the socket and the cord to the lamp just hanging there. The light in the bathroom had no cover on it and the lights over the sink had burnt out bulbs. The tv remote had no batteries. T here was a plate for a smoke alarm but no smoke alarm in it! We don't know how this passes code! There were no lush plants around the place like the pictures show. Also no fireplace and who knows where the hot tub was or if it would have been usable. The continental breakfast we wouldn't have touched for anything because everything around it was filthy dirty. The owners were very unfriendly. For the first time in our lives we pulled back the sheets to make sure there were no bed bugs and slept with only the sheet because the blankets were so dirty. DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED VACATION MONEY STAYING AT THIS DUMP! Les mer

If you're looking for a four star hotel, this isn't it; if you're looking for a quiet, romantic, quaint get-a-way that is inexpensive, well then, this is your place! YES, it is old, yes it is run down, however, there is something about this hotel that just put a smile on my husband's and my face. We sat out on the balcony just listening to the ocean, […] looking at all the stars and realized that the quality of the hotel has nothing to do with our purpose for being there...getting away for a night. I booked this room for a romantic getaway weekend with my boyfriend and felt like I walked in to the movie "Psycho"! It was disgusting! The first horrible experience was walking into the office: it smelled of bad food and was coated in a layer of dust and spiderwebs. The clerk was an older Indian man who said no more than 2 words to me before handing […] me a key. We walked into the room (after walking through spiderwebs in our faces) to find a hodge-podge of furniture that looks like it was dug up from a dumpster. There were used burnt matches on the pillows, mold in the bathroom, and the bed linens looked like they were 30 years old. We turned right around, gave the key back, and stayed somewhere else! I can't even comprehend how this place is still in business! Don't ever stay unless you want to catch a disease! Les mer

Do not expect a hotel. This is more like renting a cabin. Fireplace in room. Very old hotel and has that 50's surfer vibe. If you are searching for a spotless 4 or 5 star hotel do not stay.... We enjoyed our's..... Shower had awesome pressure and plenty of hot water.

This was a very Romantic get-a-way for a low budget vacation. The rooms are very clean, Hand painted murals on the walls are a good accent. the Gas fireplace was an excellent addition to a romantic night. I was very pleased at this hotel, and dissapointed i had to leave. Beach access was a walk, (although we never made it to the beach) :) .... The trains […] ran through the night blaring their horns , but didn't bother us much. and lastly the walls are very thin so we could hear our neighbors conversations, and vise-versa. Les chambres sont situées en bordure de plage mais...séparées de la plage par une nationale et une voie ferrée. Comme il y'a un passage à niveau au niveau du lobby de l'hôtel, le train doit actionner son avertisseur sonore à chaque passage donc jusqu'à minuit le soir et à partir de 5 ou 6 heures du matin... Entre le passage des trains et des voitures, […] pas possible de dormir...dommage car c'est une des prestations que devrait proposer un hôtel... Les mer
