Hampton Inn Alexandria-Old Town/King St. Metro - Alexandria

The hotel staff was very friendly, explaining the area and the free (!) trolley. The free breakfast was very good with a much larger selection that I expected, it was great for my teenage boys! Very impressed with Hampton Inn!

It was only a short walk to the Metro Rail System which was so convenient for us to get to the sites in D. C. The room was nice and clean. Parking was not a problem because of the in building parking garage. Some nice choices of restaurants were easily within walking distance.

We were very pleased with our stay. I think the only complaint is an unexpected $15 per night parking fee. However, there was no place to park had it not been for the parking garage under the hotel.

Great place to stay right on King St where everything is going on, hotel was clean, staff friendly and helpful! Hotel offers free breakfast, which was good, there was a fee to park but overall the price for the room was reasonable. Will definately stay again!

Our family (2 adults, 2 college students) went to DC for a tourist weekend, and to see friends in/around Alexandria. Staff was accommodating and always pleasant; there was plenty to choose at breakfast, and safe parking. 5 minute walk to King St Metro is a huge plus. The Hampton Inn is very convenient to both the Metro Station and to King Street in Old Town. All the personnel were friendly and helpful. The room was typical of Hampton Inns, very comfortable and well appointed. I plan to stay at the same Inn when I next visit Old Town.

My daughter and I spent one night here while moving her into a new apartment and the combination of location and price is what sold us. The people at the front desk were very accommodating.

Nice hotel and very reasonably priced. The breakfast was decent. Clean up can start early, so use the Do Not Disturb sign.

I stayed at King St Hampton while attending a conference across the river, at the Gaylord convention center at National Harbor. I've attended many conferences at the Gaylord and always have stayed at the National Harbor (NH) Hampton, but no hotel at NH was available for the dates I needed. (The back story is that I needed to change a reservation I was […] holding at the Hampton NH, which was going to nearly double the rate. All other NH hotels were full.) I have always been concerned that the commute from Alexandria OT to NH would be time consuming but was pleasantly surprised. The front desk called cabs for me, and they arrived very promptly (fare was approx $16 each way incl tip). The trip to National Harbor in the morning goes against traffic on the bridge and takes only 10-15 mins. One evening, the bridge was closed due to an auto accident, so I took the water taxi from the Gaylord to Alexandria Old Town and then took the free King Street Trolley to the hotel. That trip is fairly long but a pleasant option. The rate at the King St Hampton was very competitive with typical rates at National Harbor. Les mer

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel while in the area for a family function. The hotel is very convenient to the Metro so I flew in to Reagan airport and took the train, then walked. The room was quite nice for the price, although as with many hotels the towels need a major upgrade: bigger and thicker would be better. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable, […] WiFi while very slow was free, and despite being close to the elevator the room was quiet at night. The airconditioner made the room either too cold or a bit too warm, but this was tolerable for sleeping and I wasn't in the room that much otherwise. Les mer

Great hotel. Old Town Alexandria was very nice, with the free trolley service to the waterfront and the location to the metro superb. The two front desk ladies were very helpful and very pleasant...they were really great. We will definitely stay there again if the opportunity presents.

I stayed here with my 3 kids and wife while visiting DC. This was a nice location with convenient access to the metro, the memorials and museum were just a short 20 minute ride away. The hotel was clean and the staff was helpful. No complaints.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad - but I've stayed at comfornt inns for less ($$) that was just as nice. $$$ plus $$ parking was to much. Parking garage was tight and you had to drive around back - in ridiculous traffic to park in a closed garage. Far away from most of the shops so expect to walk. We had an excellent 5-night stay while playing tourist in Washington DC. Front desk people are very helpful with directions and recommendations. Free wi-fi works well. The free breakfast is surprisingly ample, with different hot dishes each day. Coffee, fruit and cookies available in the afternoon when you get back too. Very friendly staff. I was disappointed in the type of mattress. Also, I was put into a handicapped room, that I did not need. I had to stay in one my previous time because everything was full, but would prefer a standard room. This may have been reason for low type of bed? Otherwise, I great place to stay!

We had a late arrival, parking in garage was easy, took elevator to room. Note: You will be charged for parking ($15.00) at checkout. The receipt was under the door in the morning. I didn't know they still had Hotels with smoking rooms available (In VA) my husband asked if I booked a smoking room,(Non-smokers) The hall smelled of cigarettes but the […] room DID NOT. The beds were comfy, we both had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was very good, nice selection of breakfast foods. Coffee was good. We called the front desk to check out and left the keys in the room. Great location in Alexandria VA, within walking distance of old town- that is, if you don't mind walking 10-12 blocks. Not a complaint, be assured; we knew where it was. The parking is not easy to get to - and a little steep at $15 per night, but it's what's needed for the area. Public parking near City Square is $12 for the day. Breakfast in the morning […] was a treat. Staff was great and the room was very nice. Our complaint is we asked for a non-smoking room but got one that absolutely ranked of the smell of smoke - and it came with ashtrays. Apparently, no attempt to keep smokers at bay. So, what is a "non-smoking room?" They said they would put an air cleaner in the room while we were gone, but it still stank when we got back. The air cleaner was turned on "only for one hour" they said. We put up with the smell for the night. No other choice, as there were no other rooms available. We'll try somewhere else next time. Very good quality property with excellent access to the metro. Travel to downtown Washington was fast,easy and inexpensive. The surrounding neighborhood has a number of dining and drinking choices

They were overbooked, and made it seem like our fault when I had booked months earlier. The front desk staff was rude at best. I requested queen beds, adjoining rooms, and non-smoking. I got NONE of those things.
