"Might look elsewhere..."
I originally reserved a Queen Studio... after checking in and getting my key I drove over to the Sudio bldg... only to find the room I was given was in the midst of an overhaul... so load up and drive back over to the Front Desk... was moved to a King Suite in that bldg... the Studio bldg had a peculiar odor and felt like a college dorm... the Suite […] bldg was better... but I am not sure the sheets were fresh... they had that slept in look when I pulled down the spread... the TV would not turn on/off with the remote but the vol/chan worked... weird.. Front Desk was very helpful but I think I will look elsewhere the next time I am headed to Tuscaloosa. Les mer
Not the worst. Could use better service
It was very nice and I was very satisfied but I would liked the pull out couch to have a blanket available and they only had one pillow left to give us which I thought was I little strange. But other than that I liked my stay.
"Close to University"
Tuscaloosa is a great place to stay. Even with the destruction one year ago from the tornados, it is still a beautiful place. The hotels though are covered up with migrant workers and they can be a nuisance. We would stay at this hotel again, but I would like to make sure the workers are gone.

There was mold in the bathroom. Trash from last guest. Cigarette burns on the comforter and the maid left our door open.
I've spent many nights in Tuscaloosa in the past and the rates for the Home Town Suites were great, but after staying there for 5 days, I'll pay morer money and go elsewhere. I had to go to the office each day for room coffee and only had 1 bar of soap for the entire stay. And bugs!

"Convenient for UA Campus visits"
This is our second time to stay at the Hometowne Suites. We were in the newer building this time. It was fresh, clean, and spacious. Liked the separate vanity from the bath and toilet area. Perfect for a one night stay while visiting UA campus. About 6 minutes from campus. Great room for the money!

The conveniency of Town Suites was great. If traveling to T-town and you just need a clean bed for a good night's rest, it is fine. Don't expect breakfast or other amenities at this low cost hotel.

"My stay at the Home-Towne Suites in Tuscaloosa"
My family and I were very disappointed upon check-in when the receptionist advised us that the non-smoking room that we had reserved was not available.We detest smoking! The receptionist tried calling several other hotels but there were no other rooms available. Our room stunk-we opened the window and bought room deodorizers but the smell lingered! "WARNING-AVOID THIS HOTEL"
I rarely write reviews but I feel obligated to warn others and save them discomfort and money. There are no elevators so you have to walk up a flight of stairs that hadn't been vacuumed in some time. The odor was a mixture of paint, stale food and cigarette smoke. The rooms smelled of old body odor. I work as a nurse and have smelled patients with […] similar odor. Now I know where they stay when they are in Tuscaloosa. There were food stains on the wall, old food in the sink, dirt on the bathroom door, stains on the walls in the bathroom, tar looking stains on the floor, the exhaust fan over the stove was rusty and had peeling paint, stains on the tub. I think you get the picture. I would not have stayed here if I hadn't already paid for the room on hotels.com and our circumstances would have allowed us the time to find another hotel. I did not have time to talk to a manager when we checked out but the desk clerk said that she would check into my complaints and contact me. She did not. excellent room. excellent location. excellent extras!!! If anything, my room didnt come with a hair dryer. It would seem that it would have one. Other than that, I would definitely stay again. Maybe next time I will ask if they have any hair dryers. lol
The hotel was clean but dated. Housekeeping was not consistent. Quiet location but still close to a main street which has places to eat and shop. No batteries in the t.v. remote. Worse part was having a 5:00 AM wake up call two mornings in a row that we did not ask for or want. My husband and I stayed in this hotel while in Tuscaloosa for a coaches clinic at UA. The hotel was close to the university and also close to many place to shop and dine. Our room was super nice for what we paid. The only thing we saw was there was hair that had not been cleaned off the floor in a corner of the bathroom--but it was not in a usable space. "Towne Suites Tuscaloosa, AL needs improvement"
First I must say the best thing about this hotel was the staff at the front office. They were extremely nice and helpful and went out of their way to serve their guests. As for the hotel, this is more of a long term stay place for those who rent a week or month at a time. This does not always draw the best crowds. There were some guests standing outside […] the hotel smoking and drinking when I arrived, but stayed to themselves. The place was very quiet which was nice. Upstairs, the halls occassionally smelled like cigarette smoke, but the room did not. The room in general presented well. The bed was firm. The biggest draw back was the cleanliness. It was apparent that it had been cleaned, but seemed to have been done so in a rush. The trash cans were not emptied. The throw pillows were stained. The sheets were washed, but had previous stains and marks. The kitchenette still had food particles and grease in places. Bathroom was outdated and repairs had been done, but there were yellow smears from old calking that was unsightly. There was dust covering the door frame which was visible from the vanity area. Carpets appeared to be in good shape. I would not sit in the furniture as I was concerned about the overall cleanliness. Given how the room was cleaned in a rush, I wouldn't recommend using the dishes which are not cleaned and sanitized by a dishwasher, although they appeared to be clean. I was unable to get my concerns addressed the first night as I was a late arrival and by the time I needed assistance, the office was closed. My concerns were addresssed the next day, but were not resolved completely. Again, I can't say enough good about how nice the staff was. However, I would not stay here again as I had concerns about the cleanliness of the room and had some safety concerns in general. The location was close to the university which is what we were after. We were very pleased with the Home-Towne Suites. It is fairly new and well maintained. The rooms have a nice kitchenette set up. It was very nice for the price and we will probably be staying there in the future.

"granite bed"
first off after checking in and going down smoke smelling hallway and opening room, checked out the bed ,let's just say if you like a rock hard mattress then you'll love this hotel but you'll also have to like dirty rooms, bed covers were dirty and shower and rest of room looked like it needed about a good three hour cleaning and then when leaving in […] the morning had to pass a group of women 5 in all smoking right at front door of holtel. "tread carefully"
I reserved two rooms; but it turns out that they were in two different buildings. One building is fairly new and fairly nice, the other looking like 1965. They were the same price and were booked to be the same (except one was for a single bed while the other was for 2 beds). "excellent staff, nice rooms"
I stay here whenever I'm in Tuscaloosa, and there is a room available at a reasonable price. That can be an issue, as the price seems to skyrocket whenever there is something going on at the University. The staff here is super friendly, and the rooms are very comfortable and convenient.

Friendly check in staff and spacious room- halls smelled of cigarette smoke. Room had full sized stove and fridge. No hair dryer In room and no late night hotel staff. Seems to be set up for long-term guests.

we stayed here only because they accepted pets and our dog was traveling with us. For the price I got on Hotels.com my husband was very worried it would be a dump. We were pleasantly surprised! The set up is excellent, 2 queen yes and a pull out, with kitchen, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location is close to everything. Location is great. I stayed at the Hometowne Studios (there are two Studios and Suites). The cheaper rooms are in the Studios fyi. "Home Towne Suites on Veteran's Blvd in Tuscaloosa"
Very pleased overall with my stay. My employer has tightened budgets on travel and I booked a stay here because it fit the budget - I wasn't expecting much. I was EXTREMELY suprised at the size and state of the room and the amenities provided. My only complaint is that the TV was just TINY - much too small. My computer monitors are bigger.

exccellent facilities...i only stayed one night but great for an extended stay...expensive for one night but that was probaly due to the fact that it was an alabama football week-end!

This hotel is good if you are staying in town awhile and would like a kitchen. Right the downside is that it is full of a lot of tornado clean up workers and could be a little rough group with a single woman staying at the hotel.

We stayed in this hotel while on a church trip, and it was a FANTASTIC idea. There were two interior rooms that let us split our group up, and the room that we stayed in was perfect for 5 people. Whether you are a family traveling together or a group looking for a place to stay I can't recommend this enough! And our room even had TWO bathrooms!!

The hotel had suites and studios. The main office was in the studio building;therefore, any time you needed something, you had to walk to the front building. I feel that someone should have been available in both buildings. Due to the tornado damage, both buildings were full. "No Room for Us"
I gave this hotel a low rating because we did not have a room when we got there. After traveling all day with four children, we were told that our rooms which were reserved two weeks prior, were not available. They told us that the rooms we had reserved were given to people who wanted to extend their stay. They did make reservations for us at another […] hotel, but that meant loading back up and driving to the other hotel. It seems that the people who wanted to extend their stay should have been told there was no room. hotels.com had nothig to do with this. It was the hotel themselves that caused this problem. Les mer

"Served our purpose"
I chose this hotel based on $$ and Hotel.com reviews. The location was convenient for our trip which was to visit family near the University. We had a 4 day stay so the kitchenette was a good alternative to eating out every day. There were different desk personnel every day and 2 out ot 4 days they were helpful and pleasant, the others were indifferent. […] They were full and stated we didn't get towels because they were out and would bring some later. They didn't - even when we made additional requests and had hand towels ONLY for 3 days. When I told them this at check out they said "we must have forgotten". If your room was not available to be cleaned by 10:15 the housekeeper wouldn't come back later so we didn't get any housekeeping services 3 days of our stay. The beds were comfortable and there was adequate parking and temperature control was also adequate. It was not noisy. Better than camping. Les mer
