It was okay. Not spectacular and we probably won't book with Holiday Inn Express again but it was okay for a one night stay.

This is a great location for visiting the Newport Naval Station. Really close to the back gate and not far from the front one either.

i rented two rooms my son was graduating from the officer candidate school in Newport Rhode Island. Room #328 I rented and my wife and my son's girlfriend shared the room. So overall ok but lacking in some key areas. Breakfast was included but it was a lousy selection. The room was clean but dated and could easily hear noise from surrounding rooms. Price wasn't bad for one night stay but I wouldn't stay there for the quality.

The internet service was non-existent or not up to par. The vending machine had expired gum from 1 year ago! The ceiling had a water stain on it. The water pipes were obnoxiously loud from when next door rooms would use their shower or hot tub. The hot tub was good. No issues with it. Was simple to use and had an emergency switch in the closet in case […] it wouldn't shut off. The bed was comfortable and clean. The shower seemed a little dirty. Other than that, everything in the room was clean. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would probably stay here again. The part I disliked the most was just the level of internet service I got while staying here. But that's not really a big deal. Les mer

The hotel was very nice. My husband and I chose this hotel as a weekend getaway for our anniversary, and were very happy with it. We booked a king jacuzzi room. Location was perfect for us. Only 5-10 minute drive to downtown Newport and attractions. Chili's restaurant right outside the door. Pool was small and so was workout room, but at least they were there. Whirlpool was nice and hot with powerful jets. Room was clean and equipped with big LCD TV, good size fridge and microwave. I've always liked the breakfast […] they serve at this chain. It's definitely a savings and great start to your day. Coffee, hot chocolate and tea was available 24 hours. Free wifi in the room. Only complaint was with the pillows. We had 8 pillows in our room and everyone of them was firm. Probably could have asked for soft pillows but didn't bother. Beside the smoke alarm going off while I was in the shower (somebody burned the toast in the breakfast area), the stay was very comfortable. The room was okay for the price, The breakfast was a mess, some food but not much hot food ready for eating. Small selection, no fruit. By 10:00AM they ran out of eggs, buscuits and gravy, bacon, and coffee. Fire alarm came on at 7:15 AM, no fire, someone burnt bread in the toaster. At least the alarm worked. The people were all nice and helpful.

Our daughter attends school nearby so we often stay here. The rooms are clean, well furnished, staff excellent, breakfast is awesome! We'll definitely be back!

Nice large rooms, helpful staff. Some shops/restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast is fine for a continental breakfast buffet - had fruit, cereal, pancakes, bacon, bagels, biscuits+sausage+gravy, eggs. The pool and jacuzzi are small but do the job.

Not the greatest location, you will need your car. Most other things about the hotel was good. My only problem was breakfast. The content and presentation was good but the paper plates and plastic cutlery were cheap, nasty and so unnecessary. Really lets the place down, penny pinching.

First, no where on hotels.com did it say this was a non-smoking hotel. When I checked in I was informed. When I stated hotels.com offered non-smoking rooms so why would I think this was a non-smoking hotel the front desk clerk laughed at me & told me I had selected a non-smoking room. I said I didn't & he wanted to argue with me. I work for the largest […] telecommunications company in the world & if I had treated a customer that way I would no longer be working there. I stayed in October & it was freezing outside & raining & very windy & there was no place comfortable to smoke. Second, I had a problem with my TV & the night desk clerk treated me like I was crazy. I didn't appreciate that. She called after she left my room to tell me all the TV's were doing the same thing. Third, the shower curtain was filled with mold. Fourth, the maid didn't leave sugar & creamer for the in-room coffeepot on either of the two days I stayed here. Fifth, the free breakfast wasn't worth eating, in my opinion. The eggs were kept in water which sapped them of all flavor. The pancake machine was broken & all the fruit was gone. The orange juice was watered down. My sister said the cinnamon roll was the best she ever had, but that is not what I wanted for breakfast. Les mer

We wanted to tour the Newport Mansions and shop. This hotel is minutes from both. The hotel was VERY clean. We inspected it right down to the bare mattessess (okay we are germaphobes) and everything was downright sterile! Everything looked brand new. Stayed on 22Sept (Sat). The room is clean and comfortable, though car sounds can be heard at night as the room is facing the road. There are supermarkets nearby, so it is convenient to get food to microwave in the room. Chilis Restaurant in onsite, so its convenient to also have a nice meal within a few footsteps.

It took an hour to check in because the room had to be "inspected" but then we got in there and the bed wasn't done being made and there weren't any pillowcases on the pillows!! I was a little hesitant to book this stay because several pictures on the site made the rooms seem outdated and motelish however I was pleasantly surprised to walk into an upgraded room with a comfortable bed that had fresh white linens, flat screen, And a mini living room area next to our bed. The bathroom was clean as well with strong water pressure […] shower, and the hotel was literally 6-8minutes away from both the beaches and downtown Newport. Hotel is located on a main road but set farther back due to parking so my boyfriend and I slept soundly. No noise issues. I did not have hotel breakfast since ihop was nearby. Staff was also friendly and parking was free. However be prepared!-Hotel does not have any toothpaste. I would stay here again. Next time I'll give the pool + fitness equipment a try. Les mer

The first room we were given, smelled of cat urine. To make matters worse, behind the bathroom door was a pair of dirty men's underwear hanging up. We left the room and requested a new one, which was promptly given. The room was okay, typical chain decor. Behind the night stand was dusty and dirty, otherwise it seemed clean. The trash outside the hotel was overflowing, which should have been emptied right away. Breakfast was mediocre.. No big deal, bacon greasy, fruit-one banana, when u picked it up it was soft and slimy-and that was the only piece of fruit offered. No apples, nothing else. Hotel was quiet at night .
