The location of the hotel is a couple of minutes walk from the city centre alongside the river Arno and therefore in a fairly quiet area. We booked a room with a balcony. The room was lovely and a good size but unfortunately the quality of the bathroom wasn't so good. The fittings were not of a high quality and showing signs of aging. The paint on the […] door and doorframe inside the bathroom was chipped in many places and the water pressure for the shower was weak. Breakfast was also a little bit disappointing. It consisted mainly of Italian style items such as sweet cakes along with some fruits, cereal, scrambled eggs & bacon. There was no bread selection & the coffee which was in a pot standing on the table for use by everyone was not good. It seemed that coffee, cappuccino etc could be ordered separately but no-one tells you this, it's only when you see other people having their cups brought to them that you find out. Overall, this is a nice hotel with very pleasant staff. However, if you book a room with a balcony then you are in for a treat because the view from our large balcony was fantastic - the Basilica of Santa Croce being in direct view, the Duomo to the left and the Tuscan hills in the distance to the right. This wasn't the most amazing hotel, but our location and view of the river made it really fantastic. The bathroom was a little older, but everything was very clean and comfortable. The location was great. Really easy to explore both sides of the river and our view from our balcony was fantastic! Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Let me start by saying overall this hotel was satifactory. The rooms clean, the service good and breakfast was really good! You have to pay for wifi but thats no big deal. We had to go to the lobby to use it because the signal didnt reach our room but that was ok. We sat on their comfortable lobby area and sipped on wine. The place is definitely a […] landmark and it shows. Basically, the rooms are good for sleeping and showering but dont expect new amenities. Also, it can be a little loud on the weekend cuz of the college kids. Overall, its a good choice but I am sure there are othera just as good. Our room had a balcony with amazing views to the old town, including the cathedral, the old palace, etc ... In the morning the bells from one of the nicest churches woke us up and it was like feeling truly in Florence :)

We had a great stay here for a special break without our young children. Fantastic...we stopped in Florence on our way to Rome for a night with no hotel reservation. Beautiful fouthr floor room with. Balcony overlooking the river Arno and looking. Up to the hill that looks over Florence. The staff are keen to assist and the food is of a good continental standard. The hotel is near to Florence vibrant centre.

I don't think this is a 4 star hotel: small room, very old tv, very average bathroom, only instant coffee in the breakfast buffet, only pork meat in the breakfast.

Right from the moment we arrived the staff were so friendly - we were shown to our rooms and treated very well. The restaurant had a very good selection of foods for all tastes and the comfort in the hotel was superb. Only one bad point - the surly barman who kept us waiting around 20 minutes (far longer than I would have waited had I been travelling […] on my own) - he really let the side down and we stopped using the bar after that and went elsewhere. The hotel is right on the banks of the Arno and commands a beutiful view of the hills and opposite side of the Arno - it was so lovely to wake up open thecurtains and shutters and see the sun shining on such a beautiful place. After a great experience in our Rome hotel, we expected similar in Florence and were not disappointed. Pulling up to the Hotel Lucchesi - directly across the street from the Arno River - we were impressed. We arrived prior to check in time and waited only 10 minutes - in a very comfortable sitting area/lobby - and were promptly guided to our room by […] the hotel concierge. The hotel was decorated fashionably - though not contemporary - with soft hues and inviting couches. Though expected, our room did not overlook the river but rather a residental street and had views of a beautiful bell tower (and yes, it rang regularly during the day!). This gave us a very quiet night's sleep - and only 2 floors up! The bedding was very cozy, the pillows perfect (for me), but the mattress was extremely firm - and too firm for this couple. Though at the "border" of the Florence downtown area, this location was an easy walk to all key locations and attractions - 10 minutes from the Uffizi, 2 minutes from the National Library, 10 minutes to the Duomo and a quick jaunt over the bridge (while jewelry shopping of course!). We utilized the concierge here to book a walking tour and a 4 course Tuscan cooking class (fabulous!). They were extremely kind and had great command of the English language. All in all a very positive experience and one that we will look to repeat! Les mer

Great hotel. Great location. Both city view and river view are nice. Room 422 is small but has a patio with a view of Duomo. 300's city views are nice, but 200's would be too low and wouldn't be able to view over the facing buildings. Breakfast is nothing special, but it was included, so I was happy. Will stay again - great option in Florence.

Everything at the Plaza Lucchesi was great EXCEPT the internet! It is so weird that this hotel doesn't fix that. I read many reviews from people complaining about the slowest internet connection and they are right. It was absolutely frustrating to wait 2-3 minutes for every page to load. Seems like such an easy thing to fix (get more bandwidth, I suspect […] they have limited bandwidth). Arrrg, soooo frustrating, when you travel with someone who needs the internet too, and you are both tearing your hair out because of the slowness. Sometimes not loading AT ALL. Les mer

The location of this hotel is great for all the small and good restaurants around the district of Santa Croche. We booked a superior room - which had a lovely view to the river but was rather small room. We probably expected more from a "superior" room. The staff was very friendly.

Florence is not that big but even so you need to be close to the centre. the luchesi is in santa croce which is good facing the river and not far from the Ponte vecchio, uffizi gallery etc. service is great, breakfast quite good, room sizes excellent, decor good, reception reasonable, excellent public spaces. no brown or wholegrain bread in hotel […] (or in Florence in general) we called a taxi and it came in 5 minutes - they can be diifcult to find in florence esp the Station. would recommend buying the Firenze Card, not cheap but beats the queues, watch out for Monday most museums are closed. great bar Volume in Piazza Santo Spirito and of course Cibreo, try the new theatro cibreo for something different mark, london Les mer

I would personally recommend this hotel for its location and service. The front desk was helpful with any questions. The bartenders in the bar were friendly. It was clean and the location was super convenient for us. My husband only had issue with the shower which he said had low water pressure and the bathtub which was scooped on the bottom so it was […] uncomfortable to stand in. I took a bath so I didn't experience this issue. The other issue we had was waking with random bug bites on our bodies. I'm not familiar with bedbugs so I don't know if that was the cause. It was a little disturbing but we were only there for three nights so we didn't investigate it any further. The breakfast in the morning was adequate enough to start your day and hold you over until lunch. We did not have dinner there but it seemed a viable option if the need did arise. If I ever had to go back to Florence, I wouldn't mind staying there again. Les mer

Stayed July 2011. We had fantastic room at front of hotel ovelooking river -with aircon, which was very important as temperatures were in mid 30s. Booked 3 days before check in date due to a sudden change in plans and both my husband and I were very pleasantly surgprised. I have been to Florence on numerous occassions over the years and while this hotel is just a "bit" out of the hustle and bustle (and more importantly shopping!), this could also be one of its better assets. Beautiful room with balcony (419) with the BEST view of the city I have ever had (and I've been to much more expensive hotels than this one). The Santa Croce neighborhood has some of the best trattorias and wine bars and its just steps from the hotel. The breakfast was OK but lousy cappuccino (no excuse here!). You can see that this was a very elegant hotel in its day and the decor has not changed in style much, but overall a clean, spacious hotel that I would return to again. Great value. Les mer

Nice hotel, clean, good size bedrooms. We had 2 rooms. The ones looking at the river have a great view. The other ones...just dont open the curtains. One of our rooms was booked for a couple and a 6 year old. Hotel Plaza Lucchesi, would stay there again without a second thought, we had a river view which was fabulous, a little noisy perhaps with the traffic but well worth it, in fact i'm sure wherever you stay in Florence it would be quite noisy in this compact city. It was very accessible to all the sites, and only one bridge away from Ponte Vecchio.

We loved our stay here. The room was beautiful with a soaring ceiling which made the already good sized room feel even more spacious. The hotel staff was spot on; always charming and helpful. The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and attentive. For the price an excellant choice. The buffet breakfast included scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage along with all of the standard Italian breakfast items.
