Grouse Inn - North Vancouver

Såkalt motorhotel. Vi valgte Grouse Inn pga anmeldelser fra andre på hotels.com. 4 netter. Den var midt i blinken for oss som ikke hadde planer om å oppholde oss i rommet, men trengte ett trygt sted med seng og dusj. Vi hadde to queensize beds som var store for å være den str. Rommet var rent, men noe utdatert. De som jobbet der var hjelpsomme. Frokosten […] var ikke til å skryte av, men om man er småspist om morgen og syntes toast, frokostblanding og kaffe/ te + litt til er ok så er det de har å tilby. Ellers var beliggenheten bra. 1 min. å gå fra resep. til buss som går ofte og tar ca 7 min. Den tar deg til down town vancouver. Vil ikke anbefale å gå (selv om vi gjorde det) pga Lions Bridge som man må passere for å komme til sentrum. koster ca. $2.45 eller $3.75 (helg) Husk eksakt beløp, bussen veksler ikke. Passerer Stanley Park. Eller bruk sykkel, yppelig lagt opp for syklister i Vancouver!!! Grouse Mountain er like ved. Whistler mountain er en MUST SEE! Tar noen timer fra Downtown, eller bli hentet på hotellet. Hotellet er ikke ett romantisk paradis, men har ett basseng dersom du velger å ta med barna. Det så rent ut og ble brukt av andre gjester. Hotellet ligger ideel til for den som søker rekreasjon fra bylive, men alikevel gode bussforbindelse inntil Vancouver bare 30 sec. gangavstand til bussholdeplass ved foten av Rocky Mountains. 20 min gangavstand til suspensionbrua. Frokost er amerikansk standard med engangskrus, engangstallerkener, cornflakes, brød,toast og marmelade som eneste pålegg […] - etter europeisk standard kan dette betegnes som mager. Hotellet er et typisk motor inn or drive inn hotell som det finnes hundrevis i USA og Canada. Så du riskerer at du få full billys i vinduet, bildørene som slås igjen med et smell eller at folk tuter midt på natta. Anbefaling få deg et rom langt vekk fra office, hotellkomplekset er stor nok til det. Rommene er rene gode senger, men trenges en liten oppshinning gjenerellt (noe nedslit farger på vegger) .Men kommer du trøtt "hjem" fra utflukter så sover du godt. Betjeningen i reseption er vennlig og hjelpsom, men til tider noe underbemannet, slik at det blir kø foran skranken. Du få grei service for denne typen hotell til en rimmelig pris som egner seg godt for overnatting, men neppe for en romantisk ferie med kjæresten.Anbefales som ren overnattingssted etter en opplevelsesrik dag og godt utgangspunkt for ekskursjoner. En del gode restauranter ca 10 -15 min unna når du gå.Nærheten til Stanleyparken gjør dette hotellet attraktiv pga kort vei (faktisk bare en busstop unna,) bussfrequens hvert 15 min noe mindre på kvelden og weekenden. OK we did choose this Inn because our group was 4 adults and a teen - it had two bedrooms. Lets face it the building is old. It was difficult to move around the beds for lack of space. Our bedroom had zero air floor giving a musty closed in feeling. There was a clump of dark hair hanging from the shower rod - eew no one had the nerve to remove it!! […] If we didn't get bed-bugs it felt as though we could have. When I got up in the wee hours the light shining through the door was scary. Couldn't get the t.v. turned on. Breakfast was slim pickings. Do yourself a favour - spend a few more bucks and go somewhere else!! Les mer

Clean and friendly. Wouldn't stay longer then one night. Needs better bedding and needs to be aired out. Very little light in the room: stayed in one bedroom but it's not a separate room can be separated by blinds.

A moderate , clean motel on Vancouver's north shore - has a continental breakfast, and close to shopping and attractions.

Overall a decent place for the price, close to downtown vancouver, and the north shore mountains.

i loved the pillows in my room would you tell me what they are so could buy them for home,the staff used me well,exiting the inn going north which i had to do was a little tough,for me your inn was clean and i would come back,please send me pillow info they helped me with a good nights sleep,thank-u

I considered your hotel as one of the best hotel we had stayed here in canada..staff were very accomodating and nice..im pretty sure to recommend you guys to my friends.. more power and thank you... :^)

Much nicer when they took the pictures, it still holds a slight charm. Grouse chose to redo the restrooms and left the room looking and feeling dated. The location is walking distance from a couple recommened eatery's. Earls being literally around the corner on marine dr is first, next to that is some good vietnemesse food, opposite down capilano is […] a place with great donairs. Driving over lions gate bridge to get to downtown is a breeze. You just need to get used to driving in Canada. Location is very good, the inn as a whole experience is sub par.. Rooms could have been better quality with updated beds, while staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend this place to others and wish people to stop by the shell station, say hi to our buddy debbie if she's working. Friendly local mechants and attendents made our stay much better. Les mer

ok hotel great price away from congestion of downtown Vancouver but close enough to see it all. Parking is free. Not a first rate hotel good place just to sleep.

Clean, friendly, safe, convienient location, basic services ideal for those on a budget. Good continental breakfast.

The personnel were very helpful especially when we asked for a downstairs room. We were quite pleased with our stay there.

Hotel was clean and comfortable but decor was a little dated. The breakfast was very basic. The hotel is conveniently located for Grouse mountain and Capilano Suspension bridge.

When I checked in the room was ready. The clerk stated she had to imprint my credit card even though the room was paid for in case of room damage? The room was clean enough. The bathroom tiles could be cleaner and it would have been nice to have some type of tissues in the room. There was coffee and tea.

The young lady working the front desk was impressively helpful. She was cheerful and full of useful information. The breakfast was a really nice surprise and well stocked. The pool was very warm and a fabulous find in the middle of a big city.

While the Grouse Inn has good amenities the quality of the rooms in terms of peace and quiet leeves alot to be desired. The room walls and ceilings are so poorly insulated that even the smallest sound from other guest in neighboring rooms becomes disturbing. So if you want some peice and quiet this Inn is not the place to go. The Wifi internet connection […] is free but connecting through the Wifi comes with lots of high risk securtiy warnings about using the service. Room condition and service are good.

It was ok for the first time, but If I go there again I will force them to change the sheets and clean the room every day. Unfortunately they do not do it regularly. Break fast was ok but very limited. Rooms were clean and the view is good.

We stayed at this hotel when we were in North Vancouver for a funeral. The staff were very friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. The shower in the room was great! It's not often you find a motel with a decent shower!! I would definately recommed this motel to anyone.

The Grouse Inn is a good basic motel. The rooms are dark, but clean and well kept up.

Website pictures are not what you get. Toilet broken, AC broken, dark, dingy, dirty.

We asked for a 1 bedroom suite so we could put the kids down and have a separate place to relax once they are asleep. It was a regular room with a little partition in-between. There wasn't even a deck we could sit on. For the price we could have stayed else where. As for cleaning: They don't let you check in until 5pm. We asked for an early check-in. […] Got to our room and it was filthy! Check out is 11am so it takes them all day to clean a small little motel. There are no fitted sheets on the bed (most likely to save time and money). Basically you have to sleep on the mattress pad. They do not give you a blanket for the pull out couch. I asked for more bedding at 6pm and the front desk said I had to come and get it. I had two small children in the room and my husband was out so I was not able to. The continental breakfast was not edible. The juice was homemade (we think), but I don't think it was supposed to look like that. Anyway, all in all it was a horrible experience. We have renamed it "The Gross Inn". Les mer

A comfortable clean hotel in a good quiet location. A bit dated but good value for the cost. Staff are very helpful and accomodating. Outdoor heated pool is excellent. Bathrooms are small with pocket doors. No fancy but very comfortable. We would recommend it to friends and have stayed there twice.

Grouse Inn is a great hotel. Clean rooms, friendly staff and great location! Close to bus stops that go to downtown Vancouver, West Van and North Van. The only things I can think of that were cons to this hotel is the breakfast they offer is very limited, though there are a few places within walking distance that serve breakfast, and the beds were a […] little uncomfortable, I was the only one out of our group that thought so though. Over all I would definitely come back to Grouse Inn and recommend it to anyone wanting to experience Vancouver. They are cheaper than a downtown hotel and much quieter. Cheers! Les mer

This is an older propewrty, but is very well maintained for it's age. The staff was very friendly. It was a nice place for the price paid. It was in a very convenient location for my family. We didn't use the pool, but there were many people using it so I guess it was good. The breakfast was minimal. Frozen waffles/ toast & toast. Would have liked to […] see more variety in fruits tha just apples. The suite was odd. The TV was in the far little living room where the sofa was & not in the bedroom area. We had to roll the TV over to the door to watch it. Other than that, the stay was fine. Les mer

we did not stay here as the room smelled terrible. The not fitted sheet was too small for the bed. The matrass pad was stained. We lost our money on this room. Do not go there! I have never been to a dirtyier, worse motel EVER

The good - free parking and complementary wireless internet access! Close to downtown and stanley park if you're driving, the staff is friendly and helpful The bad - the condition of the room and furniture is old. there was kind of musty odor in the room when we checked in. if you're living on the ground floor it can be noisy. Overall, a cheap hotel […] to spend a night if you're driving. I wouldn't recommend this if you're relying on public transport or if you're expecting a great room condition. Les mer

We got exactly what we had hoped for in a low-cost, conveniently located motel. Traffic back into downtown Vancouver accross the Lions Gate Bridge was always heave and a bit of a drag but everything else was fine.

While we were only here 2 nights, the sleeping was tough. The beds were uncomfortable and the room smelled of old smoke. However, the kids were thrilled with the pool and swing set on site. The room was definitely overpriced for what we received.

Very good value at a relatively cheap price. Quiet, clean, attractive courtyard, friendly staff. Accessible location, close to transit stop and easy drive to downtown Vancouver if you take your car. Complimentary breakfast very poor, but you can't have everything for that price.
