Fortune House - Miami

I love the hotel it was excellent the lobby as well as the room. The only thing that I didn't no like was that I made the reservation to accommodate 5 people 2 bed rooms and a sofa bed, but was not given a room with a sofa bed. I was charge for a roll away bed.

Hotel staff was courteous and helpful!

Great location and clean common areas however the rooms are nothing exciting.. Served the purpose but nothing exciting.

Hide fees when you going to do the check in .

The overall survey is extremily positive but 2 things that a guest should know in advance are: 1) Cost of the valet parking (20$ a day) 2) Cost of the amenities (10$ a day)

The front desk is next to the bar playing loud music. It is so loud that it was hard to check in. Given two keys for three guests, but only one elevator key so we couldn't go anywhere without one another. We were given directions to an Italian restaurant two blocks away, but it was a Brazillian Steak house with a one-hour wait and nothing else open, […] nearby. There was a room service menu, but they won't answer the phone due to the music being so loud--you have to come down to order, but it doesn't say that in the room! I tried to make a call on the in-house phone at the front desk (right after some cute, young blonde from the bar used it) and was told I had to go to my room to make a call. (But no elevator key to get there!) Apparently, ageing brunettes can pack sand where they are concerned! Breakfast buffet ran out of silverware, bowls, napkins, toast, coffee cups, glasses, bacon, pancakes, eggs, (which were green, anyway!) milk, juice, and coffee! There wasn't enough room for everyone to sit and the food wasn't great, anyway! The toilet wouldn't fill, the tub wouldn't drain, the showerhead didn't work right, hinges creaked, cable got no reception, and we couldn't get a porter to get our bags and we waited 45 minutes for him! The decor was R-Rated in my in-laws' room! Check out for guests waiting to go to ship's pier should be an extra hour later due to the check in time for the cruise! Les mer

The only issue we had was that Housekeeping came to clean the room at about 4:00 P.M. Since we were there for a wedding and were getting ready for the rehearsal dinner this was a most inconvenient time. And the maid spoke no English. I did not know how to convey to her that all we needed was some clean towels. I understand that getting someone that […] speaks English to work as a maid would be an issue in that area but perhaps giving the guests a number to call for an interpreter would be really helpful. To be honest, I seriously felt bad for the maid. She was trying to be helpful but the language just got in the way. Having said this, if I do get an opportunity to go to Miami again (and I plan on it) I would certainly consider staying there again. Les mer

The rooms are all different we stayed in a two bedroom suite which was modern and sleek with a descent view(only from upper floors. we stayed on 17). Appliances a bit dusty. About a 15 minute taxi ride to shopping and night life. Earlier in the week we stayed on a lower floor 8 not so modern and in need of dusting.

Great location, views, fitness center, and price.

We stayed for two nights recently on the 29th floor (Penthouse level) with a spectacular view. A stunning suite with great space and quality furnishings. Roadworks are a pain in the area (but not fault of hotel). Staff was great and would recommend this hotel if you are looking for good price/high quality that's very close to Miami places of interest […] - Bayside/Coconut Grove etc. No beach here - just a small rooftop pool and hot tub, but if you have a car and are not coming for just beach - this is a great hotel to stay. Good service, good room facilities. A little disappointed not much information was readily available about the neighbourhood / transportation / amenities / local events. Staff did their best to help.

It is ok only for a night or two but it is not south beach miami, it is in brickell, Fl 15-min away from South Beach the action.

I was very pleased with the unit. The location is great - very close to the Metromover, and the neighborhood was safe. Parking was at a reasonable price but I would have liked the self-part opportunity instead of valet, but that is just my preference. The staff was very helpful and courteous and honest. I left a bag behind and they assisted in getting […] it back to me. I would definitely would stay here again and recommend to others. Beats a hotel any day if you don't require the services. There is a restaurant in the building. I didn't have an occasion to eat there but the menu looked good and the prices were reasonable. Les mer

Room was ok. The AC system kept going out. The maintenance worker who "helped" was useless. He basically said that since the AC kept cutting off and on, he couldn't do anything about it.

The service was great, the staff extremely friendly. The romos are huge and clean

The two bedroom suite was great.Very comfortable And a terrific view.The staff was very pleasant and very informative..The pool is not the greatest but the gym was a big plus..I would recommend the hotel to anyone going down to Miami for business..South Beach was a 15 minute drive...

During my recent stay at the Fortune House, I felt the staff were rude and much less than helpful. I understand that in Miami, there is a very high Spanish population; however, I was very upset at the fact that when I speak with staff there, the Spanish language was the majority of the language chosen. I have stayed at the Fortune House three times now and it is perfect for the location. Comfortable, clean and convenient.

We stayed here the past weekend, and I tell you it was really a nice hotel. The Lobby and common areas are real nice, the rooms are ok. For the price. We did have some little black ants in the room. But it was clean. The hotel has a lived in appearance. The furniture in some rooms are really nice and some rooms were a little outdayed. It is close to […] the fre train, and it takes you all around (For free) We arrived early and the rooms that were available we were ab;e to check in and they allowed us to stay until 12:00 for checkout. It was a greta experience. Some of the people in our group complained that they di not have a tv in their bedroom. They upgraded them to a penthouse suite, so all was good. Les mer

There is no concierge or other standard hotel accessories. The bell boy disappeared halfway through moving my luggage: I almost missed my flight. However, the double room bay view suite was awesome, perfect for longer stays or when you want to use the kitchenette. Also, the receptionist was very helpful. I could have got a 4 star hotel for less.

Loved the hotel. Location was good even though you have to drive to go to the best places. Parking was a bit expensive but all parking in Miami is.

Just good location

Staff wouldn't go the extra inch, much less the extra mile. Consistently claim impotence without a manger present and managers never seemed to be present. 3 times I got the, "Oh, my manager just left for the day," or "just stepped into a meeting, I'm sorry I simply can't help you." Rooms are great, however.

Front desk staff most unrofessional not friendly and not helpful at all.Never been in hotel where service so POOR.Even Restaurant staff not helpful for the new visitors. An exceptionally clean building with all the amenities that you would expect from a much higher end hotel. The one bedroom apartment was very spacious, well furnished and always clean.The staff were attentive, cheerful and courteous 24 hours a day. The staff were at our beck and call promptly for any added extras that we could want. Just by pulling up to this hotel you'd think it was going to be a pretty decent property. Wow, were we fooled! Although the lobby and outside of this hotel were quite nice the room itself had no air conditioning, the bath enclosures had mold, there was no water pressure and the floors were filthy. We were not told that the air conditioning in the hotel […] wasn't working and were told on 3 separate occasions that someone would come up and look at it. No one ever came, so we were extremely warm on the 11th floor with the use of only one ceiling fan. We were told they didn't have any other fans at the front desk. In a nut shell, this hotel was a huge disappointment and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone, nor would we ever go back. Les mer

Rooms and staff were excellent great to have in room laundry and drying. Tours need to be booked before travel as no booking service from hotel.

Hotel is a little aged but over all it is very nice. Great views from the baconey. I was very please with the service and cleaness of my room. Located in a very nice part of the city. Be prepard to pay for parking and be sure to ask the price of valet parking.

Hotel was great near all the attractions. And the night clubs are just minutes away. We took a cab over everything was perfect. The staff was very polite and they catered to my every need. I will definitely come back to this hotel next time I'm in the Miami area.

The hotel is right in downtown financial district. The 2 bedroom suite is very nice and clean.

Valet asked ,"how much are your monthly payments'! Another accused me of lying when I told him I was not given a particular coloured ticket. Tried to charge an additional fee . Collection of car very time consuming,appeared to be only one valet on at 8am Room not exactly clean ie mildew in shower,dirty wine glasses in cupboard. Best thing about hotel […] was the location. Great hotel and value. I would definitely stay there again when in Miami. We had a 2 bedroom bay view suite and the views were magnificent.. The room included a full updated kitchen, dining area, living room, 2 balconies, 2 bathrooms, and 2 bedrooms. Great pool area and service. They enforced a zero-tolerance noise policy which helped me sleep easy at night. Beautiful hotel, staff, and atmosphere. Really close by to the public transportation system for downtown Miami.

Excellent value-beautifully decorated with tons of space and light. Also tons of amenities including flat screen tvs in each room, washer and dryer, etc. But this is a high rise combo hotel and condominium building with many units and front desk service is a bit slow and not as responsive as in hotel only. Lobby was clean and nice. The room was fairly clean. A few nail holes in the wall and some dust. Good for groups. A block away from free Metro Mover. Service is pretty slow. I would come back again with a big group. Good accomodation for the amount of money we paid.

We pull up to what looks to be a nice hotel, and we were valet parked at check in, because there was no other way to park. We walk into what seems to be a very nice and clean hotel (at least in the lobby). We get to our room and have a nightmare of a time getting the lock to unlock. Finally we get in and the room is as dirty as I have ever seen in any […] hotel I have been to. From the silverware to the filthy microwave to the disgusting shower. The whole place was dirty. When we checked out, we found out that they charged guests 20 bucks a night for valet parking.....when it is your ONLY OPTION!!! Oh, and not to mention the fact that they put a $500 hold on our credit card for incidentals!!!! For 2 nights!!!! This place is a joke, would not recommend to anyone! Les mer

Great place to stay when going on cruise....breakfast buffet was great and qulity of hotel was also great. Had no complaints but really wasn't there long enough to give info on things to do around hotel. Would stay again.

Looks can be deceiving, nice lobby, approach and furnishings in the common areas. Rooms are tired, old, in need of maintenance. Poor attempt to refit some new lights, coat of paint and selling as condo apartments. surprised at the poor condition for this price point. Nice neighborhood, across from the 4 seasons. This place needs to take a hard look at their housekeeping staff. This is supposedly a 3 star hotel. I've stayed in cheap motels at less than half the cost that were cleaner. In our room, the carpeting was stained, the walls were dirty and when we noticed something under our couch, I looked and there was a fair amount of garbage under there. Food was great at the breakfast buffet, but service was a bit slow and unorganized. The oatmeal was our favorite part of the free breakfast! The lobby was as beautiful as the photos and the help at the front desk very helpful. The room on the other hand was a bit dissapointing except for the 2 TV's- living room and bedroom. We had a Penthouse apt.on […] the city side (room 2913) with a great view of the swimming pool on the 6th floor and if you stretched, you could see the bay on the other side. We specifically asked for a room that had no mold in the bathroom after reading other reviews becasue we are both allergic to mold. We also asked for a comfortable bed as my fiance came from Iraq and I wanted him to be able to rest well before getting on our 7 day cruise. We requested the same room on our return for one night. We did some laundry and my $68 victoria secrets bra didn't get dry so I put it in the dryer on an air cycle. Didn't realize I forgot to get it out until unpacking on the ship and no way to contact the hotel about it. After our cruise we returned to the hotel and asked if there was an early check in - NO becasue the had been booked up the night before and rooms weren't ready. no biggie - just let us sit by the pool - no problem either unless you tried to go to the bathroom once outside. Someone in the gym was kind enough to let us in. But they didn't find my bra, I believe housekeeping staff isn't very good at thier jobs or honesty. We had a nicer room on our return, but TV only in the living room. Internet connection was bad. This apt. had nicer furnishings and the bed was huge and much more comfortable than the last room. So was the sofa. There was also a full size washer in this unit. It is very close to the free public transportation which you could take almost anywhere within about 10 miles. Very cool! Not too many close by resaurants, but we just ate at the outdoor mall called bayshore ( Free public transportation got us there in 15 minutes). Ov Les mer

For the location of the Fortune House, it's decor, and it's expensive rooms one would think the level of service would be top notch. It is not. In comparison to a Hampton Inn or Radisson, this hotel is subpar to their level of service and hospitality. Check in is 4pm, that's later that most hotels, and the FH sticks to that. The front desk is soooo […] understaffed that it takes an excedingly long time to check in and forget about calling down to the desk for questions. I wound up visiting the desk and waiting in line on two occasions to have my questions answered. Room service is horrible. We ordered a pizza and nachos. We waited over an hour for an average-over-priced pizza and kid you not!!! A plate of tortilla chips with a to-go container of melted cheese. Something you'd get from a 7-eleven. Amazing. The area is very corporate. Not much within walking distance and the front desk staff gave awful directions to get you to the simplest of locations. Rely on your smartphone! (as the internet is a bit dodgy...always asking you to sign on after a short period of no activity). Taking a cab in the morning? Cruise ship bound? Call the front desk...or WALK down to them the night before, to make a reservation. They barely could handle three cabs for one party...imagine how they did for the rest of the day! DO NOT USE THE BUSINESS CENTER HERE...overpriced and dodgy. The only plus side to this hotel was the room was spacious, there is a pool and hot tub and the chinese delivery was fantastic. Don't crack open this Fortune cookie expecting a smile or a witty remark. It's not worth your time. Les mer
