The staff at this location is friendly but nearly incompetent; checking in after a long road trip was therefore an arduous task. The room was equipped as described, very small, and very clean. The heater was a disaster, however--the only choices were full-blast heat that made it impossible to sleep or to turn this thing off, in which case the room quickly […] became an icebox. "Econo Lodge Evanston"
We stayed here on our way from Nebraska to SLC. It was clean, the shower had really good water pressure, and the guy at the front desk was very nice. The paint was peeling in the bathroom and the room was very cramped, but it was inexpensive and just fine for one night. We'll probably stay there on our way to SLC next time, but it's definitely not place […] that I'd want to stay for multiple nights. Les mer

Spent 1 night. Hotel was cheap and ok. No noise. Lack of atmosphere in surrounding neighbourhood.

Recognize, first of all, that you are choosing the price leader and therefore you cannot expect a 5-star hotel. The room was well appointed, clean, quiet, and comfortable.

"Good vibes"
The management made this place special - they went out of their way to make sure I had what I needed. Clean and right next to the river, which I didn't take much advantage of since I was just resting during a marathon driving trip. Nice stop.
"Perfect for an overnight"
On a recent cross-country drive from California to Kentucky, I needed a place to sleep for the night in Evanston. The Econo Lodge fits the bill perfectly. It's not the Hilton, but you're not paying for the Hilton either. For an overnight or a few days, it covers what you need...the water is hot, the bed is comfortable, and the AC is cold. The hotel […] is close to I-80 so if you were there to explore northern Utah or southwestern Wyoming, this is a great location for basing your operations. Les mer

The hotel staff were very kind and helpful; they were also ready with recommendations for local dining and entertainment. The building and rooms were clean and spare. My unit had a small refrigerator, which was convenient. I recommend this place to any one in need of a conveniently located and fairly inexpensive hotel in the Evanston area.

The room was clean and fresh. Breakfast choices beat paying to go to McDonalds. Heater blower in the room was on the noisy side and wasn't thermostatically controlled (so either on or off). But strolling out the back you could see Bear Creek which was nice.

Check out this hotel if you are on the road. Many online reviews give it short-shrift and are unfair, in my opinion. If you need a budget stay this is a great option.

"YIKES"
HORRIFFIC. Run down, dirty, smelled of smoke and feet. Dirty towels, hair in the bathtub, security bars over the front desk. Avoid!!
"Glad we only wanted sleep."
The outside was very run-down looking. The entry-way was shabby. The clerk had troubles with the computer and we never got a receit for the dog fee. The halls needed paint and cleaned. Not to Econo-Lodge standands. The side door was propped open and the area to walk the dog in was trashy & unkept. The train was very near-by. The room had been upgraded […] and we were pleasantly surprised. We felt they had chosen to fix-up the rooms before the halls and outside. Grime can be cleaned off and the outside swept before paint, however. The breakfast was sparse and the OJ tasted of plastic. The attendant did keep the racks full. If you are looking for a cheap but OK room that takes your dog, this could be it. Les mer

Non professional staff, dirty, small room. Outside and inside needed some updating. Smokey lobby. Plumbing old.

Old hotel; flickering lights; creepy desk guy; --- The Bates Motel came to mind. Yes I locked all the doorrs and didn't take a shower.
