The Windermere Hotel - London

This is a nice, little hotel. And not too expensive, either. It's been renovated recently and both our rooms had new bathroom fittings. The lift looked new as well. The restaurant isn't brilliant, but the breakfast (complimentary cooked breakfast included) is ok and plentiful. All in all, I wouldn't expect to find as good a hotel as this any cheaper […] in central London. Les mer

Hyggelig personale og alt greit, bortsett fra det å bli plassert i underetasjen medfører litt dårlig luft og total mangel på utsikt, og da er også prisen i overkant. Sikkert et veldig bra sted om du blir plassert høyere opp i hotellet.

Vi var på hotellet fra onsdag til lørdag. Servicen var veldig god og frokost på samme nivå. Eneste som er å utsette på var at senga var veldig liten! Ellers kan vi godt tenke oss å overnatte der igjen!

Comfortable 7 night stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful and professional. And the location could not have been much better. We would highly recommend this hotel.

The Windermere is a wonderful hotel. It is a Georgian converted into a hotel like many in the area, so the rooms are smaller than a more modern hotel. The rooms were clean and well serviced. The staff at the hotel is superb. They responded to requests quickly and with a genuine smile. I will provide the example of the service given. My family and I […] went to eat in the restaurant in the hotel and my daughter-in-law inquired about the soup of the day. It was pea, not her favorite, the cook came out and offered to make any soup she wanted, and he did. How can you surpass that for service? The hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the Victoria tube station, so after a nice full English breakfast (included), we walked to the tube and went to the sights for the day. The Windermere hotel was wonderful!! The staff was very friendly and informative. The room was lovely and very clean and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel is also in a great location. Victoria is a very clean and well lit area of London the people were very friendly at all the shops and restaurants. Victoria Station is about a 10 minute walk as […] well as Buckingham Palace and other places of interest. if you are in need of wi-fi then you will not be disappointed. Not only is it free, which is rare in London, but the signals were strong in every part of the hotel that we visited. We will definitely stay at The Windermere again and highly recommend it to all. I don't stay in London often, but after many nights in European cities the major disappointment with London hotels is that they are so cramped. This hotel has the feeling of being cramped, but probably no more so than other London hotels. My husband and I stayed one night here and wished we could have stayed longer. Not only was the location convenient but the staff were very friendly. They made us feel welcome, helpful and efficient. It is a little pricey but well worth it. The free breakfast was delicious and the room was extremely comfortable. We stayed in the Superior Double room […] and will always choose that one. Conveniently located...Victoria station is a short walk away. Friendly owners and staff...so eagered to help us. We had full English breakfast every morning and fish and chips for dinner the night we arrived....yummy! Computer in the dining room for us to use. Our room was clean and quiet. We stayed overnight to see Billy Elliott which was close by. We liked the Pimlico area and it was very quiet at night. The room was quite cramped and the beds were single and not the usual 3/4 beds, but apart from that, the hotel was beautifully clean and tastefully furnished. OK, comfortable and adequate. Room and bathroom fittings were good, although bed was a standard double (as advertised) rather than Queen (which would be nice in a 4 star hotel), and room size was a bit small, but generally ok and reasonable value. Would stay again but would also see what else was available.

Excellent hotel to stay in. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and were able to answer any questions I had. Free internet to use downstairs beside the dining room, and also free wifi in all the rooms. We arrived exhausted after several hours on a train at the tail end of a 4 week European holiday. We were greeted by a really nice girl at the front desk, Daphne, who we learned later on, had just recently joined this wonderful gem of a hotel near the Victoria train station. Booked on hotels.com for $160, my double was bumped up to a queen. ground floor front, but not noisy. a little warm (in January) for my taste, so probably just right for most people. nice breakfast. very clean room and helpful, polite staff. highly recommended.

Great location, easy access to Victoria Station. Also quiet location. Good collection of small restaurants nearby. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful, answering every dilemma we had. When back in London we plan to stay there again.

Had a great experience staying at Windermere Hotel. Room was nicely furnished and clean. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Location is very near Victoria Coach Station, which is a plus for someone traveling by coach to and fro Heathrow Airport, and walkable from Victoria Underground.

The location of this hotel is perfect for shopping, partying, and going back and forth to the airport. I stayed on night, checked out, went to London for a couple of days. I had to return to Dublin for my return flight to USA but I had not booked a hotel for my last night in Dublin... my choice was clear and I was not gonna risk having a different experience […] with another hotel. We made the mistake of getting a standard double room. It was tiny with the smallest bathroom I've ever seen. I'm sure the more superior rooms are dramatically better as the general ambience of the hotel was very good. Tip - call these v small double rooms "budget doubles" or even "singles".

Very nice stay, came here for work had great wifi and found that I could pretty much get anywhere via Victoria station which was nearby by. Highly reccomend to anyone who needs a central place to stay for business.

On a one-night stay in London, we chose to stay at the Windermere Hotel. From the start, our experience was great. When we arrived (they allowed a late arrival) we were assisted by the front desk attendant. He provided us with a small map of the area and sites close to the hotel and also a larger map of the greater area of London, both of which proved […] to be very helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was one of the best that we had while in Europe. The staff was very helpful in providing us with what we wanted/needed. Also, because check out was at 11am and we were not leaving London until later on that night, they offered to store our luggage at no additional cost for as long as we needed so that we could go enjoy the sites of London. We stayed here on the last day of our trip. We were tired of travelling and lugging suitcases and had an unpleasant hotel on the prior leg of our trip. When we got to the Windermere, it was like finding an oasis in the desert. We were very pleased with every aspect of our stay, although we only stayed one night.

The hotel was average, with the only great quality being the location in Victoria. It was definitely overpriced. No real complaints however, just an average hotel at a steep price.

Hotel is very clean and decor good. It is in an ideal location for sightseeing. For a short stay it is OK but bed is too small for much longer than that. We were in a basement room and it was too hot (even though temperature outside was low - 3 C). Would I stay there again? Not sure and certainly not for a lengthy stay.

The Windermere was convenient to many of a London-tourist's must-see sights - Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Parliment and Westminster Abbey are all within walking distance, as are Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery - and to Victoria Rail, Coach, and Underground Stations.
