Baymont Inn and Suites Tampa near Busch Gardens/USF - Tampa

The hotel looked clean from outside and lobby but our room was dirty and it appeared that the sheets had not been changed as they had hair and other debris on them. There was also a hole in the couch that looked like it had been made from a cigarette even though it was a nonsmoking room. Great location and price. Room clean and spacious. Carpet needs updating. Staff was very nice. Offers shuttle to busch garden, which was a plus. Was at the outside tiki bar when I realized I left my IPhone in shuttle bus. Bar tender went to get it without hesitation , I was impressed. Over all had a great experience! The hotel is in a great location to Busch Garden's, which is the reason we were there, The free shuttle is from the hotel to Busch Gardens also helps out to save money for parking. The rooms are suites so it has a separate sitting area from the room which adds some more space for the family. The staff is pretty neutral, not rude but not very friendly […] either. We washed a load of clothes while we were staying there and someone stole our clothes. When my husband went to the front desk to complain about it the front desk person told him he would have to come back late to talk about it because he had to check guests in. That was a let down to us because our son had only one pair of clothes left out of the three sets we washed. The neighbor hood is kind of rough near the hotel. Overall, you get what you pay for at this hotel. We were at the park for two days so we weren't in the room that often and the shuttle and pool at the hotel are the main highlights. Les mer

After reading reviews of other surrounding hotels I was concerned about what we were getting into. We went for a funeral so there weren’t many options of where to stay in regards to price and location. The reviews for this hotel were far better than the others for other locations I read so I took the chance as it was in the same price range. I was […] pleasantly surprised. The hotel was perfectly located. They let us check-in 4 hours early, without hesitation. The room was spacious and surprisingly clean (except for the carpets). The price was perfectly in our budget. The bed was comfy and the pillows were great. The towels were typical hotel size (small) but they were soft. The ONLY negative is the carpets desperately need to be cleaned or replaced. After my toddler walked around for 10 min, her feet turned black. Other than that, the room was very clean! No mold, or dust or any other negatives. We just wore socks the whole time. had to change rooms because AC didn't work, roaches in original room, beds sink and hard, got crick in my neck, learned my lesson, pay more for better comfort.

Excellent hotel for the price it doesn't get any better then this hotel and perfect location for Busch gardens

Very economical and good location to Busch Gardens or USF. Internet did not work 50% of time during my 2 day stay.

Hotel has just changed to Baymont name from retiring from another chain. Hotel is older in a poor neighbour hood and has no food facilities close by. Just putting in security cameras. Used this hotel for a trip to Busch Gardens. Location was very close to the park, and shuttle to park was handy. Front desk personnel were friendly and receptive. Room itself, though large, needs updates and felt like it needed a thorough cleaning. Beds were hard, uncomfortable. TV remote did not work and was missing the battery cover - obviously not […] noticed during room cleaning. Outdated dropped ceiling in 70's style vanity area in poor shape. Broken "on" light on coffee maker so could not tell if on or not. Several bugs noticed in coffee maker counter area. Sofabed was not used, but covering was dirty and worn. Loud argument at pool table near pool area clearly heard in room around 9:30pm. Bathroom walls, tub area seems to have been more recently updated than rest of room. The price for this room was low, but I would probably pay the extra $10 - $15 and stay in a nearby newer hotel next time. Les mer

If you just need a place to sleep, and nothing extravagant then this is the place. Everything is basic and could be more modernized. The building and the furniture are very early 90's looking which is about how old the stuff might be. But I was able to sleep and head to my interview without being tired so it did it's job. This hotel was great. Especially for the price. The only problem we had was the shuttle bus was supposed to pick us up at Busch Gardens and the hotel said that they lost the shuttle bus driver. But they told us to take a taxi and they would pay which they kept their word.

Great price and location! Very spacious and clean.

We have been staying here for the past 6 years , for Howl O Scream @ Busch Gardens. We love the location...and the Hotel itself...now that Baymont has taken over it is almost back to the way we fell in love with it years ago...Tiki Bar , Pool , and Free Breakfast and a comfortable room...so close to the park....5 stars here

My main reason to go to Tampa was to visit Busch Gardens. Good rooms, good breakfast.

Although this hotel/motel doesn't wow you, it is extremely comfortable and well located to USF. It is very comfortable and has a very good breakfast room.

I loved staying at this hotel, I was surprised at how big and nice the room was, it had a separate living room/common area with a pull out sofa bed, coffee table and tv. i got a smoking room that smelled like a mole, broken sofa bed and moist carpet. i had to buy allergy medicine and request a room change. then they gave us keys to a occupied room and had to apologize to the person in it. we then got a room that the overview lights would burn out and make a humming noise if it stayed on. then the a/c started to smell […] like burned rubber. when we checked out i was give a one day refund. i would not recommend this hotel. This had a great layout for the two room suite with kitchenette....sofa bed was ripped on inside - the amenities was great open to guests were teh pool tables and ping pong tables - the swimming pool all nice - I just had bad luck with other guests ..there were too many people up late shouting outside and cooking a BBQ in the parking lot - the staff […] should have controlled that better but did not - we could not sleep two of our four nights - other wise it was a nice place. This place was very close to Busch Gardens and was clean and comfortable. We have paid more for rooms on Disney premises in Orlando that were much smaller and not near as nice as this place. I would stay here again if in this area.

The general hotel layout was extremely awkward (had to park far away from room, and walk a distance to get downstairs just to get to the lobby. Broken elevator, cabinet door below sink broken, skimpy "free breakfast," and old, run-down neighborhood all contributed to a somewhat negative experience.

I thought I was getting a great hotel for a great price, but I felt that I got exactly my money's worth. Paid cheap, got cheap: -Balcony door never shut, anyone can easily get in the room, no sense of securtiy -Large cockroach on master bedroom walls -Ants on the main counter -Master bedroom TV did not work -Water in bathtub does not stop running - […] WASTING A LOT OF WATER!!! -Sofa bed was tied together with two plastic shopping bags -Morning staff at the FD was super rude -Room was dirty -After the first night, housekeeping came to our room and did the beds. I found two long blonde hairs on the counter, they must've not cleaned. It was gross. Sorry, but this was the worst expirience I've had in a hotel. Les mer

Great location, close to shopping, dining and Bush Gardens. Hotel staff was very kind and helpful. I'm very thankful for the last minute call to pick us up from BG bcz my daughter got sick. Rooms are dated, but clean. Beds are small and carpet could be cleaned. Overall, good for the price.

Very nice hotel and excellent location of Bush Garden!!

This is the second time staying here. This is the place I intend on going to every trip I make to Tampa.

Don't expect a pick up since they did not pick us up after visiting Adventure Island (dropped off by them & verified pick up time). Very poor service all around except the breakfast buffet was good.

The Hotel was VERY close to Busch Gardens. The check-in was quick and easy. I was very surprised with the rooms, very clean and comfortable...especially for the price. I stayed right in front of the pool and was never bothered with noise. Hotel staff is very friendly. I'd definitely come back!

When we checked in there was only one set of towels for 3 people. There was a partial roll of toilet paper and no spare. We supposed the maid would take care of that but again we had to ask. Also the TV remote control didn't work,slightly annoying. We were told breakfast would be served until 10 but when we arrived at 9:30 we were told they were closing. […] We feasted on stale bread/toast and watered down orange juice. I wish there was a negative on the scoring for this review. I had my reservation weeks prior to my stay. I arrive the day of and the first room they gave me, the room was already taken by another family. I didn't know until I walked in on them! So embarrasing. So they "upgraded" me to another. It was a smoking room that smelled like a nasty ashtray […] to where I was spraying my spray just to air it out. Front dest gave my a Glade Air Freshener to spray my room. That of course didn't have any effect. After spending a all day at Busch Gardens, we go back to the room. Half of us had a chance to get cleaned up before we found that we were then in a roach infested room! After 11:30 pm, we are again switching rooms! The third room we were given was much nicer, but being that I had three rooms given to me in less than a 12hr period sucked. I have to say it was so embarrassing to walk in on someone thinking that that was my room! Then the thought of sleeping with roaches, I don't think so!! This was the worst hotel experience ever! I would recommend this hotel to anyone!! Yes, its close to the parks and they ended up comping me a night. Doesn't matter! So if I had a negative to put on the score, I would. The pictures and ad to their website, isn't nothing as what is said. Must have been taken when the hotel was first built. The outside, (pool) and all was nice. We have season passes for busch gardens/ adventure island. We arrived around 10 pm for a room resevered for five. The girl at the front desk was very nice and we went staight to the room. Upon entering the room it looked ok. We opened the sofa bed to find it was broken and the bottom of the mattress was saging badly. we had to put the coffee table under […] it to hold it up. Also there were bo blankets or pillows for it. The tv in the sitting room was broken once u turned it on you could not turn it off. I had to unplug it to get it to turn off. In the bedroom i found the garbage can full of trash including cigarette packs, butts and ashes. I requested a non smoking room. I found a baby bottle full of sour milk under the bed. It was disgusting and smelled bad. There were only 2 towles for five of us. At this point i had it and was going to call the front desk.Well guess what the phone in the room did not work right, I had to call a couple of times to talk to them. I explained my complaints and the front desk manager came up right away, with towels, a new remote and he took the garbage and apologize. He told us that he would send someone to fix the tv the next day, which he did. that night trying to sleep was horrible there a busy street in front and very loud people everywhere. The nieghborhood is straight ghetto. we did not feel safe with our children because there was no security and anyone and everyone seemed to come through there. the pool was clean but when it was supposed to close at 10 pm there were many people coming and goin into it. I have used hotels.com for years an I could not believe that they would knopwingly put this hotel in their system. The Baymont is conveniently located by Busch Gardens and USF which is why we picked it. We also wanted the two room suite, which we received even though it had two double beds instead of the king that I reserved. The beds were super hard and one even sagged. The bathroom was super clean which I appreciate very much but the carpet was filthy. One of […] the tv's did not work without a remote and no remote was in the room, it took the maintenance man 3 times to find a remote which he never did. The Hotel was great. You are seconds from Busch Gardens and minutes from several great restaurants. I truely enjoyed myself and would tell anyone how great this hotel is.
