Beliggenheten er helt perfekt. Lett tilgang til knutepunktet for Metroen, handlegater, elven, etc etc. Leiligheten jeg og min datter hadde vendte inn mot baksiden og var dermed veldig støystille. Servicen var akkurat så fin som vi trengte den. Fikk hjelp til alt vi spurte om hos den hyggelige mannen i resepsjonen. Det var veldig varmt de 3 dagene vi var i Budapest i begynnelsen av mai (ca 29 grader). Dette var overraskende varmt for hele byen og luftavkjølingen var ennå ikke satt på. Det var et bittelite minus.

Bra. MEN: Dusjforhenget manglet på badet. Putene er ikke gode. Kunne veldig gjerne vært et par stoler på verandaen. Kunne også vært en minibar på rommet. Kunne også vært en søppelbøtte i rommet da den som er på badet er liten. Bare dette hadde løftet komforen betraktelig!

Veldig fint hotell med flotte rom og en god frokostbuffet. Middagsmenyen var noe tynn mht utvalg og størrelse på porsjonene. Står at det tar 15 min å gå til sentrum men det stemmer ikke. Må ha taxi. Personalet var hyggelige og hjelpsomme. Flott spaavdeling.

"Sentralt beliggende :)"
Hotellet la veldig bra og sentralt til i enden av Elisabeth broen på Pest siden og like ved Vaci Utca. Veldig greit å komme rundt i byen, og vi tok kveldsturer opp på Gellert høyden hver kveld Hotellet var sjarmerende og hyggelig med helt greie rom. Badet var rent og med nok varmt vann. enkelt og greit hotell, ypperlig beliggenhet rett mellom handlegate og Donau, frokosten serveres i en fantastisk kjellerrestaurant, hyggelig betjening. Hotellet er innvendig et kråkeslott av kriker, trapper og ned og kroker, så det egner seg dårlig til funksjonshemmede. Men anbefales absolutt. Mye for pengene
"Hotell Matyas Budapest"
Helt greit og rimelig hotell. Ypperlig beliggenhet - nesten midt i gågata med kort avstand til massevis av spisesteder. Hotellet er forøvrig ikke å anbefale for handikappede eller om man er litt dårlig til beins. Det er ingen heis, og allerede ved inngangen blir du møtt av et par trapper. "Matyas City Hotel - good basic hotel, central"
We arrived around 2pm and found the reception through some big doors, up a stair and into a room. Polite staff which gave us our key and some basic information. Room was located through some doors, stairs, through the back alley, in some doors and stairs, so this is definitely NOT for handicapped or those limited in walking. Although I believe they […] have rooms with easier access. The whole hotel had a very urban and basic feel to it, but I liked it. The room was clean, felt spacy and we had a nice view out on the bridge and on the castle area in the distance. Wasn't much more to it, really. Served us well. Wifi sucked and the signals didnt even reach our room though. However why sit in your hotel on a laptop? Bring your laptop to one of the many bars, coffee shops etc with WiFi :-) Travelled with a mate which I shared the room with and we got each our key card, very convenient. Location was also prima. It is located at the Pest end of a nice big white bridge which I cant recall the name of.. Erzebet or something. It was right in the middle of the main avenue, Veci street or something. Also right by a big street which led right to the Keleti train station where the eurocity trains depart. I liked the hotel for its simplicity. Would recommend to anyone who rather want to spend time and money seeing town rather than golden sinks in your bathroom. (The WC was clean and nice by the way.) Les mer
"Dårlig service og dårlig renhold"
Hotell ligger i sentrum og det er det eneste som er bra. Ellers er det ingen aircondition i de fleste rom og jeg var i flere rom for å se om jeg kan bo i noen av dem. Alle vet vel hva dette betyr når det er 37-38 varme grader ute. Kvalitet på service kan beskrives med en ord. katastrofalt. På grunn av varme fikk ikke sove den første natten. Gikk ute […] eller sat på trappen. Når jeg da kl. 14. kommer inn i rom er det ingen som har rengjørt mitt rom. Jeg la meg og sov en timme. Kl. 15.30 var jeg ute av rom. Når jeg kom inn kl 19.00 var det fremdeles ikke rengjørt. Jeg gikk i resepsjonen og fikk nye håndkle. Dagen etter var jeg også ute før kl. 09.00. Da jeg kommer inn kl. 15.30 var rom ikke rengjørt heller denne dagen. Jeg gikk til resepsjon og da ble jeg sjokkert. Resepsjonisten fortalte rett og slett at romet ikke var rengjørt fordi jeg sov i rommet kl. 14.00 dagen før. Når jeg ba om forklaringen så sluttet de å forstå engelsk. Da var det mer ungarsk og ned med skuldrene. Hva skal en si om dette? Burde jeg vært ute av rommet helle tiden? Nei jeg var skuffet over Budapest til de grader. Les mer
"Bra sentralt hotel men med trafikk støy"
Hadde lest andre anmeldelser som klagde på trafikkstøy men jeg ville ha utsikt fra rommet og da vender det mot broen og trafikken. Når døren er oppe så bråker det men det var ikke noe problem for meg. Ellers er det et fint, sentralt og rent hotell. Ønsker man ikke støy så be om et rom mot bakgården.
"Sentralt, men mye støy og lite komfort"
Hotellet lå meget sentralt og betjeningen var hyggelige. Rommet vårt var riktignok alt annet enn behagelig. Det var stort, men vå ut mot en vei samt der alle turistbussene stoppet så det var ALDRI stille da rommet var meget dårlig isolert. Det var faktisk utrolig slitsomt. I tillegg var det kun aircondition på 60% av rommene. Gjett hva vi fikk.... Det […] var derfor varmt og dårlig luft (vi kunne jo ikke åpne vinduet da det var en "motorvei" utenfor). Så, dersom man etterspør et rom som ligger skjermet fra veien med air condition vil man sikkert synes det er helt ok. Les mer

Kjempesentralt hotelll midt mellom gågaten og Donau, rett ved trikken og koselige parker, men svært "kupert" inne, masse trapper opp og ned, ut og inn for å komme til enkelte værelser.

Veldig greit hotell: Rent og ordentlig. Rommet var helt ok. Hyggelig betjening. Hotellet ligger kliss i sentrum med gangavstand til alle severdigheter, 2 min gange til metro.
"Sentralt og rimelig hotell, med god service"
Vi bodde 4 netter på dette hotellet i oktober 2010. Beliggenheten er genial, i en sidegate til Vaci utca. Rommene var enkle, men rene og med gode senger. Frokosten var god, med godt utvalg, og ble servert i hotellets restaurant som var rikt utsmykket med veggmalerier og glassmaleri, stilig! På kvelden var det sigøynerorkester og god stemning. Nydelig […] mat også, men ikke balaton-fiskesuppa... Vi kom på kvelden og var slitne etter en lang reise. Innsjekkingen gikk kjemperaskt og da vi spurte etter en anbefalt restaurant bestilte resepsjonisten bord og fulgte oss nedover slik at vi skulle finne frem. De var behjelpelige og vennlige til alle våre henvendelser og spørsmål. Ikke noe overdådig luksus, men perfekt hvis du vil bo sentralt men billig, og allikevel få god mat og service! Anbefales!! Vi var 8 personer som bodde på dette hotellet i 3 netter fra 09.-11.10.2010. Hotellet ser ikke så fint ut utenfra, men standarden på rommene var bra. Det ligger også knallfint til med tanke på severdigheter og alt man bør se. gangavstand til det meste. Sightseeingbusser, og elvebåtene er rett utenfor. Sentralt, "midt" i gågata. Nært buss og trikk. En del trafikkstøy.Like ved Donau, på Pest-siden. God frokostbuffet. Ikke noe luksushotell, men bra overnattingsplass i Budapest, faktisk bedre enn en del andre 3-stjernes hoteller i Europa.
"Feilvalgt hotell"
En meget sentral beliggenhet og lav pris er det eneste gode som kan sies. Rommet var det dårligste min kone og jeg har bodd på. Ingen komfort utover det å sove i. Et klart feilvalg fra vår side.

Room extremely clean and hotel staff very helpful indeed. Ideally located this hotel to numerous amount of sites to visit. If I were to be honest I think that the rooms could have been provided with tea; coffee facilities. The breakfast was good. I would recommended this hotel as good value for money.

Excellent value budget hotel, with great central location. We didn't have to use public transport or taxi at all.First impressions were a little off-putting but we quickly settled in. Only quibble is that there were no tea making facilities in the rooms.

The staff at the hotel were unable to address a problem with the wireless service ... or should I say the absence of it. The staff direct you to one terminal which is often in use. They seem unaware of the options to test or fix the problem. Essentially, unresponsive. Unfortunate since all other factors were positive.

If you are a 5-star person this is not the place for you. However, if you want to be close to site-seeing destinations, and like to travel within a budget, this place is GREAT. Good size room with private bathroom, fridge with lock for valuables, TV and plenty of closet/ shelf space. Four minute walk to the Metro.....Close to a good coffee shop, good […] places to eat, money exchange, etc. You will have to haul your luggage up one set of stairs to get to the elevator. There was also some noise from others outside, but our window was open towards the courtyard. The staff were helpful with suggestions, getting cab, etc. I would recommend this place to anyone who doesn't need fancy luxury. Les mer

The hotel is a couple blocks from the metro line to the train station and adjacent to the Elizabeth Bridge on the Pest side. It's on the edge of the gentrified area of Budapest. This is one of those hotels that thrives because of tour packages and tourist that doesn't have any options once they purchase one. Upon our arrival (which was quite late due to our delayed flt), the front desk didn't have our reservation and proceeded to tell us that they didn't have any room. He was not interested in talking to us, much less helping […] us. Thankfully enough, I had our confirmation number. He then told us to wait while he investigate. Once he found our reservation, he then quickly told us that the price does not include breakfast (thank goodness cause I wouldn't want to eat it). The lobby was in disrepair, the shower was so small that I burned myself bumping into where the hot water was connected to the shower handle. If you don't have a four star hotel, then you should at least give a four star service. This hotel gave neither. On the good note, it was convenient. Les mer

"An excellent location"
A hotel in a heritage building, hotel building itself is amazing. It's very near to river from where you can walk down and see all major attraction. A must stay.

Perfect location and short walking distance to many of the main sights. Tram and Metro close by too for further distances to travel. Had 2 stays at the hotel (at different times over a 10 day period) and while the first stay was very good i.e. good comfortable room, the second stay (though provided at a fairly good rate) was not as nice or as comfortable. […] Some maintanince was needed in both rooms, most notably the windows and showers. Overall a good place for a short 1 or 2 nights but would not wish to have a long stay unless faults are fixed! Hotel is old and the rooms look and feel like a college dorm room (and not a particularly nice one). The staff wasn't much help either, but that may have just been a language barrier. However with that said, I would recommend this hotel because of price and location - steps from the Danube.

The old hotel was surprisingly well maintained and modern inside. The staff was always considerate and very helpful. Traffic noise was a problem on a hot summer night, but we chose the location for convenience, so no complaints. All in all, a very decent place to stay.

My friend and I enjoyed staying at the Matyas Hotel and being near the Elizabeth bridge made it central to many highlights as well as on the door step of Vaci utca being the liveliest shopping street. I can strongly reccomend this Hotel.

"Great value, great location"
The hotel is close to the metro station, a bakery, and a supermarket (maybe around 100 m?). Very convenient. Short walk from the Great Market Hall, and not far from tourist sites. The staff at this hotel was very helpful and a pleasure to speak with. Unfortunately the rooms were not the best, the biggest complaint was the mold in the bathroom, as I am allergic to mold. Other than that the stay was pleasant and the location could not have been better. "Good stay at Matyas Hotel"
The staff are friendly. The location is superb. If driving, you need a GPS to get to it as the location is tricky. We had a room facing the inside-court, which was fine except that the window would only open a few inches. This meant the room was pretty warm in the afternoons.
"Good Value in a good location"
Location is great. Right in pest with a view of the river and the sights of Buda. Right across the street from a metro stop of the blue line that takes you every where in Budapest. Breakfast is expensive so just go to the market down the street called Match and buy food there for cheap. Hotel has an internet terminal for people to use who don't have […] their own computer. One thing I disliked is that the room is quite big but the bathroom is terribly small. The shower area is too small for an adult of average size. Beware of crooks right outside the hotel posing as tourists walking around with maps in their hand. 2 teenage girls were walking behind me posing as tourists and one of them tried to unzip my bag pack and stuck her hand in there. Luckily I felt it and I turned around and they took off. They are not dangerous, but really sneaky. Les mer
"Perfect location, clean rooms, friendly staff"
I was more than satisfied with my stay at the Matyas hotel. The location is perfect. The room was clean and spacious. I found it very charming that the rooms are accessed through galleries of an internal courtyard of an old building. Although the room didn't have a nice view because it was facing the yard, it was much quieter than the ones facing the […] street. Which in the end isn't that important, because if you're in Budapest the last thing you'll want to do is sit in your room. I just wish that there was Wi-Fi in the rooms too and not only in the reception area. The staff though was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Les mer

The Matyas Hotel was a pleasant hotel that we would return to if in Budapest again. The receptionists went out of their way to be helpful, the room was very comfortable, and the hotel was in an excellent location (near the pedestrian mall, very close to the old city of Buda across the Danube). The exterior of the building itself is a work of art. The […] elevator was somewhat small but much larger than what we have found in Paris and other parts of Europe. The only negative points were that the initial entrance into the building needs to be restored to reflect the original beauty and needs better lighting, and the shower needed slight attention--one door was shaky and there was a little mildew. "Great Location"
Over-all this is a pretty great location for the price. I stayed for 5 days and while I didn't have any major issues with the service other than the people who service the rooms seem to think that two people in one room only need 1/2 a roll of toilet paper for a day an a half. No, please leave a spare roll especially when the one on the rack isn't a […] full roll. Anyway, all the previous reviews are correct. Yes it's kind of hidden, yes the halls are dark because of the energy saving lights that turn off, yes the place appears to be run down condos with the hotel on one or two floors. However, it's cheap, it's in an excellent location central to the touristy areas and it's 1/2 a block from a metro stop. The room was pretty clean and it had a cheap fridge. The air conditioning doesn't work well but luckily it was cool enough to just open the windows. Over-all if you're looking for a cheap place to stay in the center of things and just want a place to crash this place is great. The only other issue I had was that at the time the site mentioned free breakfast and they said it wasn't included and wanted to charge me approximately 7 Euros daily each for me and my partner to have breakfast, which is way over priced. So we just ended up eating breakfast out at the local bakeries for much less than that. Les mer

"Matyas Hotel - a really good bargain"
I would very much recommend this hotel. The inside of the building gives a real sense of the period in which it was built, albeit the communal staircase could do with some decorating. The room was surprisingly spacious with high ceilings, very clean and an all round comfortable space. Being spread around in different building spaces, the hotel layout could be confusing at first to some people, but this same attribute would make it unusual and interesting for others. "Could do better!"
Excellent location and friendly staff, that's about it for the positives. The room was quite small and cramped, no AC so was uncomfortably hot all day. Extremely noisy due to all the banging doors made it hard to sleep. The breakfast was poor, not much choice if you didn't eat meat, also no toast!
"First Impressions"
Don't let you first view of the seedy entry prevent you from staying here. The staff is helpful and courteous, the room is certainly adequate, and the breakfast buffet is fine. Another possible turn-off is the dinky elevator (for two only). Best thing about the hotel is it's location. Three stars is pushing it a bit, but all in all, not bad.

This hotel was recommended by a friend who loves the shopping convenience. I agree that the location is great, but we arrived and found maybe 20 stairs to the lobby, then more stairs to get to the room. They don't provide assistance, yet have a 2 person elevator. You must then go through a couple more doors and down a hallway to the rooms. At night, […] the lighting is terrible and the entry was poorly or not lighted (automatic lighting sometimes works). Trevligt! Kanon läge bra service, ganska litet rum men billigt och prisvärt.
