Hadde et kjempebra opphold på Grand Hotel Cavour. Sentralt og fint. God service, bra renhold på rommet. God frokost i hyggelig frokostsal. Synd at været ikke tillot at vi kunne spise frokost på den flotte takterassen. Vi fikk en ettermiddag der oppe med et glass god vin - det var helt fantastisk! Dette hotellet kan jeg gjerne anbefale til andre.

Dette hotellet var heilt topp, synest vi -midt i pulserande, eksotiske og historiske Firenze. God amosfære, både på hotellet og i gatene utanfor. Hotellet er inget luksushotell, men har hyggelig betjening, bra rom som var reine og fine, og ikkje minst at hotellet ligg i gåavstand til både serverdigheiter og jernbanestasjon. Det einaste som var litt […] vanskeleg, var å finne hotellet etter gatenummer. Vi fann ikkje noko system i dei! Men fem minut ekstra med leiting, det tålte vi. Kan absolutt anbefalast!!! Les mer

Vi var veldig spente da vi kom frem til hotellet, man vet jo aldri hva som møter en... Vi hadde lest gode anmeldelser på forhånd, men det var jo et ganske billig hotell. Man kan jo aldri vite sikkert. De som jobbet i resepsjonen var utrolig hyggelige, og behjelpelige med alt. Dessuten var de gode i engelsk. De hjalp oss både med å ringe til museer for […] å booke billetter, og de ringe tilogmed til det neste hotellet vi skulle til for å sjekke at vår reservasjon var i orden. Rommet var stort og luftig. Høyt under taket. Vi valgte et klassisk dobbeltrom. Vi hadde lest på forhånd at sengene var litt harde.. Det var forsåvidt riktig, men smaken er som baken. Vi likte sengene. Vi hadde også lest at frokosten var litt mangelfull. Det er jeg ikke enig i. God juice, frukt, og pålegg. En ganske vanlig frokost. Hotellet var ikke så stort, men hyggelig. Vi hadde badekar og hotellet var utstyrt med såper og slike ting. HVis man vil velge en rimelig hotell så får man rett og slett mye for pengene på dette hotellet. "Utsøkt hotell i Firenze!"
Jeg bodde på Porta Faenza i 4 dager da jeg reiste til Firenze med en venninne i slutten av oktober, og helt fra vi kom inn i den vakre resepsjonen og ble møtt av en hyggelig eldre dame som snakket perfekt engelsk, tok den nydelige heisen opp til tredje etasje, til vi steg inn i et fantastisk innredet, ryddig og rent rom med mørkt treverk og gylne gardiner […] (til og med smijernsknagger, og en antikk kiste der det lå vinterdyner og puter) toppet med en kopi av Botticellis "Våren", rammet inn i gull, over sengen - all denne tiden var vi genuint lykkelige over å ha valgt dette hotellet! Det kunne ikke vært bedre. (Må jeg si noe, så ville jeg foreslått en større frokostbuffét, med litt bedre utvalg brød og pålegg, og flere kniver i kurven (!) - men når du kan spørre om en cappuccino og de lager den der og da med egen espressomaskin og fersk melk og bringer den personlig til deg der du sitter i ro og fred, da synes jeg man ikke kan klage!) Så selv om det regnet hver dag da vi var der, og vi gikk med våte sokker mesteparten av tiden, hadde vi iallfall dette nydelige stedet å komme hjem til. Tips: Prøv å spise lunsj på caffetteriaen på hjørnet ikke langt fra hotellet når du går nedover via Faenza - masse veldig gode små retter å velge mellom, og ekstremt mye billigere enn en restaurant! "Spacious room and great service"
We stayed for three nights at this hotel, and were very pleased. The room we got was very spacious with high, painted ceilings and great atmosphere. The only minus was a strange shower arrangement (but good for the handicapped) and quite a lot of noise from the street, which woke us up every morning. Dette hotellet har bra beliggenhet i et rolig område. Gangavstand til de store attraksjonene. Personellet er veldig serviceinnstilte. Rommet hadde alt det man trenger, men sengene var litt harde. Frokosten hadde det meste, og var veldig god. Det kunne vært bedre presisert på hotellsiden at hotellet har en avtale med et privat parkeringshus like ved, […] og ikke eget parkeringshus. "Great location! And great Hotel staff"
The staff/front desk at this hotel was very friendly and accommodating. The room was a bit small, and the shower was a bit awkward. Because of the layout of the shower, every time we showered, water would get all over the floor. But we got over it. The hotel is in a great location, right in the middle of the city. I highly recommend!

Recently just visited Florence. Hotel is in a great location. Easy to walk to from Terminal if arriving by train. My husband and I arrived from Train from Rome. Was only a few blocks from station, which is great when you are hauling luggage! Easy to walk to Piazza Duomo and shopping at Piazza Del Mercato Centrale. Our room was smaller than what we had […] in Rome for the same price. We stayed at the Hotel Londra Cargill in Rome and it was AMAZING! Otherwise, it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was alright, nothing special, but fills you up. Anyways, my flat iron would not work even with the converter, so I purchased one just a few shops down from hotel for 29,00 euros! Pretty good shopping nearby. The hotel booked for us a wine Tour in Tuscany..highly recommend doing this! Had a great time. Discovering Chianti Tour with Delicious Wine Tasting-PM (1400-1900) 45,00 euros...totally worth it. Some others from our hotel decided to go wit us and it was great. Good places to eat are: Trattoria Bondi There is a difference on Via Nazionale (short walk from hotel) the sign is a picture of two little kids looking in their diapers! also Borgo Antico Ristorante on Piazza Spirito. The location of this hotel is amazing, you can walk anywhere and be there in minutes. We drove our POV and that was interesting finding the garage, even with GPS. But the staff was very helpful and patient with us the miliion times we called. The hotel itself is very charming. Our room was great and much bigger than I am used to in Italy. It's only few steps to Firenze Termini, convenience, good hotel service, just ok breakfast, free wifi cover the hotel building, close to all sightseeing spots, it's good for a budget trip for couples. BUT if u're looking for a romantic or family trip, it may not be a good choice as the neigbourhood is full of homeless, beggers ...etc, the hotel is really […] old, small room. not big enough to open my 30' luggage. "So close to perfection"
I won't go into detail about the things that were good about this place: there are too many to mention. It's just a shame the experience was slightly soured by a frosty encounter with the guy at the front desk. Though I had my EU driving licence I did not have a passport, and he became quite rude when asking me why. I lost his patience despite the fact […] that I rightly pointed out that an EU driving licence is equally legitimate. The same guy, perhaps riled by this encounter, was then bafflingly rude about the lack of WiFi connection. He simply said it wasn't working - didn't offer an apology or explanation. The Porta Faenza Hotel is located within easy walking distance of the train station and the major sights of Florence. The staff was helpful and made reservations for us. The room was small but comfortable- the only negative was the lack of light in the room and dim light bulbs. The breakfast buffet is really excellent: rolls, bread and cake, hard-boiled […] eggs, ham and cheese, tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, cereals, fresh fruit, juices and coffee/tea. Great hotel. Very close to the station. Friendly front desk. Very helpful. Within walking distance to all attractions. At the beginning it looked like it was little isolated (around 200 feet) from main street. But later got used to it, with enough people walking around. This great hotel was clean, attractive and most importantly quiet. It was a quick walk from train station and all the major places to visit. There are restaurants all around as well. I would definitely stay here again and the price was very good.

"nice hotel for somene looking for a bed"
Great location. The room was clean but very small even by European standards. Nice flat screen TV you can only watch while standing in the corner! But if you want a clean bathroom and bed for a reasonable price its a great place. Adequate breakfast, fine coffee, friendly staff.... close to sites!

"It is the best hotel!"
The hotel is wonderful! It is close to railway station and all tourist attractions! The room was very nice, cosy and having the atmosphere. The bathroom was almost a size of a room, there was a bath, shower cabin, everything! We even had a nice balcony! Breakfast was also very good - buffet... The receptionist is the most informed and helpful person we have ever met. She went out of her way to make calls, check internet, book cabs, etc etc for us. Recently had 2 nights at Porta Faenza (2 triple rooms) Very convenient to main train station. Easy walk to all attractions. Hotel well maintained and clean and quite. Good breakfast. Staff very helpful. Definitely would stay there again.

The room was clean, well maintained and comfortanle. The location was vey central to attractions I wanted to see and to visit and very short walking distances. The hotel was quaint in it's restoration of the orginal building. Nice time.

"Cramped room"
Maybe I just had a bad experience, but I'll repost what I already contributed on tripadvisor. We stayed here for 4 nights towards the end of May, and I must say it was one of the worst hotels we stayed at. First of all, our room was TINY. I am used to New York City spaces, and this hotel room was too small for me. It didn't have enough room for two […] small (I'm 5' and my husband is 5'8") people to walk around at the same time. Also, by the second day I woke up with tons of mosquito bites on me. I figured it couldn't have been from walking around the city, so we inspected the windows. We found that they were so warped that they didn't close properly. I called the front desk, and spoke to them in english, because I don't know much italian. They sent a maid up the room (not a maintenance person) who only spoke italian and thought I was complaining about the A/C unit. Finally, she called the front desk and I explained the situation, and they tell me there are no rooms available to move to. they didn't offer any type of discount, or any way to fix the problem. so, in the end I had brought some deep woods bug spray with me, so I sprayed myself every night and the area around the window. Other than my poor experience, the location was close the train station, about 15 minute walk to the main sites and 20 minutes to the river, They did give decent recommendations for restaurants. The breakfast was ok, but only one employee doing everything, so most of the time food needs to be refilled, so you have to wait around. Also, if you want cappuccino, you have to order it from that one employee. Probably if your trip is shorter, it is fine to stay at, but I thought an 4 nights was too long in such a cramped room.
