Holiday Inn Express Portland South-Lake Oswego - Lake Oswego

I needed a suite with two separate bedrooms. This hotel gave just what I needed. It wasn't plush, but it was clean. Breakfast was adequate, but not exceptional. I would stay there again.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Upon entering the hotel lobby, there was no one to be found and they didn't show up for 10 minutes while I waited to speak with someone to check me in. The good: staff, cleanliness, location. Breakfast was okay (not much fruit, plenty of bread/carbs). The bad: my single queen bed room was TINY, there was a round table instead of a desk and the chair was very uncomfortable for working on a computer.

We used to live in Portland so we were familiar with the area, however, we originally intended to stay closer to the city. The mattresses in our room are quite worn out, thus, not very comfortable to sleep in. The room also looked dated. The complimentary WIFI was not working. We were given a number to call, however, the line is always busy. The front desk staff was useless and not helpful on the matter at all. So, we did not get WIFI at all during our 3 nights stay. This was a great stop for our family on our way to Seattle. My kids really enjoyed the tv channels and the breakfast. The room was clean and the staff attentive. We will stay there again for sure!

Very convenient to other locations ... all within driving distance (to downtown, malls etc). Rooms were of good size, but the washroom was too small (even with the sink outside). Lack of hot tub in the swimming pool. As with cleanliness, I am disappointed ... there was leftover french fries under the bed curtain which was never cleaned from the previous […] customer (I don't know how long). I showed up super late to a really nice, friendly receptionist. My room was lovely and quiet. This hotel was GREAT for me and my travels. The morning breakfast was minimal, don't expect much and you won't be disappointed! Staff extremely helpful.

Just exceptional staff and facilities. We travel for business a lot and this hotel is truly a 4 star hotel with 3 star price. The location is right off the hwy 5, so you can get anywhere in Greater Portland fast.

I highly recommend this hotel. The amenitites were great and all included. No hidden fees for business center etc. Great continental breakfast (included). Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Location was perfect.

When we got to the hotel and checked in the people at the front desk were very nice. Whe we first got to our room and went in we were amazed at the room. The room was very spacious and clean. The tv was large, the beds were really soft and had lots of pillows which was wondefful for us. It even had a little couch. The continetal breakfast was wonderful and have many options to chose from, the staff was really nice, the hotel and pool were very clean. It would have been nice if they had a hot tub though. This hotel is a a great hotel, the rooms were nice and clean, the pool was great. Parking was an issue the first night we were there and we were told to park at the bar next door...that was a little unnerving. The other nights we were "in" early enough we were able to park at the hotel. The breakfast room was way too small! We were not happy to find out that the only staff member on duty for the hotel was a trainee. Every time we needed something for our room, he would have to leave the front desk unattended to bring us what we requested. This made us wonder how safe it was to stay there when anyone could have come in the front door while it was unattended and follow someone […] up to their room. Also we found the back doorway held open by a rock, maybe if there were more then one person on duty they could keep a better eye on the grounds and the security cameras. Les mer

I usually stay at the Crowne Plaza, just off of Kruse Way, in Lake Oswego. I chose HIE for the accessibility. I was very impressed by the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of everything. When I opened my door I was amazed at how nice my room was. ( king ) the room was very clean and I really liked the look of the room and furniture. Bathroom […] vanity was impressive. The bed was extremely comfortable. I used the indoor pool as well as the fitness center. My over all visit was very pleasing. First I requested a queen or king room, but what surprised me was that I got a "Special Need Room". Never requested and I could not take a bath, shower was like for special needs people. When taking the shower water all over, needed to use all the towels for water runoff. I was disappointed with the Holiday Inn Express. Each morning, the eggs at breakfast were extremely salty. They tasted as though the cook had dumped an entire box of salt in each batch. The TV selection did not include PBS. The Wi-Fi connection was not consistently available. The front desk was short-staffed at check-in, resulting in long waits. Usually I really like Holiday Inn Express, but my stay at this hotel was terrible. We checked in at exactly 3pm. Even though we had reserved a non-smoking room, our room smelled heavily like smoke. Since my wife is pregnant and we were traveling with young child, this was not acceptable to us. We asked the front desk staff if there was anything they […] could do, and they said "sorry" and that we were stuck staying in that room. The night was miserable because our room smelled so bad. There was a lounge area outside our room that was very noisy at night so we couldn't even open our window for ventilation. The next morning we explained our issues to the front desk staff, and they were much more friendly than the afternoon crew. They said that the manager would call us, which she never did. And she did not respond to a call from me the next day. I realize that our stay was probably worse than most. If we had a different room I'm sure our stay would have been much better. I was very disappointed in the room we had, the unfriendly attitude of the afternoon front desk staff, and the lack of response from the manager. The location is probably the best thing about this hotel. Just off the freeway (but you don't hear the traffic noise in your room, which was great), and very close to the mall (retail shopping, restaurants, a movie theater, etc.). The only disappointing part of our room was the "bathroom" sink being in the room, not enclosed with the rest of the bathroom. […] If someone was up early and getting ready for the day, it was tough to use the sink & mirror (lights on) without waking up the rest of the family who were still sleeping. The front desk staff was very friendly and professional. The room was clean and comfortable. The east facing rooms get road noise from I-5 which is a stones throw away. The breakfast was so-so. Everything was good. Nice room, very clean. Just one thing, we had a very loud sound next to our room, seems like machines. That wasn't very nice, but we could sleep well.

Generally it was fine, and pretty quiet. The heat/cool controls in the room were hard to manage. The TV channel selection was better than in many hotels, but still not great. The breakfast was OK.

The bed was very comfortable. The only odd thing is that they have the card that says to hang up the towels if you want to re-use them, so I did, but they gave me new towels anyway. Maybe I didn't hang them in the right place? If not, it should be more clearly marked.
