The hojo was very clean and must better room than I expected. I went slight to sleep and I never heard a thing.

I was actually expeting less clean, and less friendly staff, but I guess I was wrong. Next to a gas station and the rail roads, but I guess we were so tired that we didn't hear anything

"exceptional services"
the staff at the Galveston location was exceptional. The beds and pillows were great. The location turned out to be good once I discoverd it was easier to comute down harborside dr. rather than broadway. My only complaint was that the toilet would not stop running, so I turned the valve off at night so that it would not keep me awake.

1.The floor carpet need to be steamcleaned. I only found that out when I walked on it without shoes. 2. There is no electrical socket by the reading table to connect laptop or other things. Although I was provided with a surf extension.

If you can stand the sound of the train that goes right behind the hotel and the semi truck airbrakes from the convenience store in front of the hotel, then it is a nice place to stay. My only problem besides the neighborhood noise is that the shower was dripping constantly. The room was clean and the bed slept great. The location is just off IH-45, […] so it is very convenient. They offered free parking for cruise passengers too. Breakfast was as expected for continental style. Free HBO was nice. The hotel clerk at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Les mer
"Terrible management"
Our tub spout leaked water the whole time we were there. When I turned the water on it was orange and stayed that way a long time. I went to the manager and told him about it and he said he already knew it. I asked him to do something about it because the running water would keep us up that night and he told me to just close the bathroom door.

"shuttle to Galveston Port"
the shuttle taking us to the ship was not a problem but when it came time to pick us up on Sunday the porter dumped our luggage on the sidewalk at the "red flag" and said the shuttle would have to pick us up there ----the problem was the shuttle wasn't allowed there so we had to tip ANOTHER porter to get our luggage to the taxi so we could go back to […] Howard Johnson's and get our car (tips and taxi cost $30). I think we should have been told up front that the shuttle would not be able to pick us up at the end of our cruise. We could have left our car at the port parking lot and saved a lot of time and frustration. Les mer

It is far from Galveston Seawall Blv. yet though service was good. Hotel Manager was friendly. But the price I had to pay was not appropriate for that location & condition.

"Disliked employees & hate this HOJO in Galveston"
First of all I did not choose this hotel nor would I have stayed here if it wasn't for the party I was with who chosed it. The clerk was so rude & obnoxious!! I asked for extra towels & he gave me this lecture of putting the Do not disturb sign & it being there as to why I didn't get any towels. I put it there bc I don't want anyone snooping around […] my luggage. It took him a long time to finally give it to me after discussing the DND sign. When we checked in there was a clerk outside the ice machines that was broken by the way that kept looking our way & it felt like we were being watched & followed to the hotel room. He tried playing it off after I noticed but seriously that was creepy!! This hotel was the worst ever!! The sheets were not cleaned & the towels were soo rough!! Don't stay here please!! I will never again stay here & pay for it just to be around my party. Les mer

needs many improvements out side, looks old, rundown. not close to beach, employees cant assist with alot of information about area. train tracks behind hotel truck stop on the side. noisy, even observed roaches(went and bought bug spray). will never stay there again. research before you stay. rooms expensive.

The hotel is next to a rail road truck, three times during the night you can hear the train, and they ronk the horn right in front of the hotel. I would never stay there again.

The staff was very friendly and the hotel is close to Moody Gardens.
20 minutes from the cities attractions.the seawall and resturats were very close to.staff and management were friendly and helpfull.room was clean.enjoyed our stay.great to have fridge,microwave,and coffe pot in room espically with children.their always hungry.

I spent two nights in a hotel with wet carpet. The hotel did not have a pool I could locate. I spent two mornings listening to a screaming lady and and crying child. They fail to tell you the hotel is right next to railroad tracks which means you hear the train at night. "Terrible experience"
Management was awful, my mom and sisters came in my room for five minutes to change clothes before going to the beach and I was charged extra per person plus tax for them "using the facilities." They were very rude, the breakfast was stale, and its located on the side of a train track which runs all night. Do not stay here.

The worst hotel stay ever for me and my family. I was lucky my family has a sense of humor. The location was horrible. In the description needs to include the noisy truck stop, and the daily honking noise of the train, all day and night. Too far from the beach. This hotel, while clean and will serve your needs if you only need a place to crash for the night; does not feel safe. It is right next to a truck stop, so the people that come and go are VERY scary and the noice levels are really bad. My family stayed for 4 days, Y nights. The room was comfortable, equipped with a fridge and microwave, cleaned daily, and very comfortable. The management and staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We went to Galveston for a wedding and we went to hotels.com to find a hotel cause we are from Louisiana. Well we went to the wedding first and after the wedding we went to our hotel. Well the desk clerk wanted to give us a room that the door knob was broken and they wanted us to unlock it with a screw driver. Well i told him that we are two women in […] a place that we don't know any one and we would not feel safe in a room that we would have to use a screw driver to get into. He told us that they were booked. It was getting late and we were about to go look for a hotel somewhere's else then he said i can put us upstairs. So as other reviewers pointed out it nestled between a large gas station and train tracks. however neither one was loud enough to have me not get to sleep or wake me up. could hardly hear either one in the room. our room was VERY recently redone which was also nice. the service was great and being 15 min from moody garden's (i was there for the ironman […] 70.3 event) was nice as well. my 5 star rating is relative. this is a VERY nice hojo. it's gets 5 stars for hojo. it is probably not as nice as other places along the beach, but hey it's cheaper and that is what you are looking for when you stay at a hojo. i will stay here again next year when i come in town for the race. all in all a very plesant experience. Room was comfortable and clean. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. Gas stations were within walking distance, and a short drive to the beach. No pool or gym. However hotel had free breakfast and WiFi. Overall comfortable hotel, although a bit pricey for what you get.

This motel was OK. We got exactly what we expected and would stay there again for the price. The only bad thing was that it is right next to 2 truck stops. It wasn't the greatest ever, but it was clean and the front desk people were nice. We go to Galveston all the time and did not want to pay a premium price just to sleep. So this was perfect. This hotel was ok for a one night stay, but I would not stay there again. The room was alright, but it smelled like smoke, and it was a 'non-smoking' room. The breakfast was also very minimal and the juice machine was broken. The manager was friendly, but a little too friendly.

This hotel was fine for one night, just passing through. It is several blocks from the beach, so that was kind of a bummer. "few bad things"
Over all the place was not too bad, only a few bad things. When the maids would clean our room we were only given 1 shampoo and 1 soap when we would ask the maids for more stuff they were rude and tolds us to go to the front desk, so every day for lotion and conditioner and also more towels, became very old quick. Breakfast was horriable, very little […] selection and what they did have we had to ask for because they would run out so quick. Overall though everything else was good, great location, good price. i would not stay here again. i knew it was not on the beach.thats why it was cheeper.but i didnt know it had no pool.and it has a train coming by at all hours.it is next to the hotel. :(((

This hotel is next to a railroad track and you can hear the trains coming and going. It is also next to a gas station/truckstop and you can hear the trucks engines running. The hotel has no pool which isn't advertised. The room really smelled when we checked in. The continental breakfast food was good though.
