Vi var 2 venninner som bodde på Ibis Holloway i 3 netter. Vi valgte hotellet fordi det var billig og det nærmeste hotellet til 02 Academy hvor vi skulle på konsert. Vi hadde ingen store forhåpninger til standarden på hotellet, men ble positivt overrasket. Store og åpne rom, god seng(vi hadde dobbelseng), stort bad og rengjøringen var bra. Hotellet er vel nesten et "motell", da alle rom har egen dør ut parkeringsplassen, men dette var bare positivt. Resepsjonen var veldig pen, og resepsjonistene var hyggelige og hjelpsomme. Maten kan jeg ikke kommentere, da vi ikke hadde inkludert frokost de dagene vi var der, men menyen viste at det var et godt utvalg 24 timer i døgnet. Sentralt beliggende, med gåavstand til New Street Station, Bullring Shopping centre, Broad Street og det meste Birmingham har å by på. Anbefales for alle som trenger et sentralt hotell i Birmingham!

"close to the city centre"
it was good and i like the hotel and the staffs at the reception are good and helpful.
"Run down and in terrible condition"
The room stank of damp. Even though the weather was cold the windows were wide open to try to mask the smell. The TV didn't work. The toilet seat was damaged.

The tiles in bathroom were grubby looking Headboard was not attached to the bed and banged about when ever you moved The Kettle did not work generally it just needed updating The same guy was on the reception the whole time we were there - either he never sleeps - or they need to give him a break

If you are looking for a cheap overnight stay , there are much better options, travel lodge , best in, premier inn to name but a few. In fact sleeping in the hedge outside the hotel would have proved more comfortable and hygienic . And let's not forget the hotel receptionist which at best could only be considered rude. To start with the Hotel staff is very rude. There is a strange smell in the hotel ones you step inside the Hotel. The breakfast offered in the morning complementary is pathetic. All together our experience was quite sad and I wouldn't dare to come back to this hotel for sure. The only thing that was ok was that the parking was free. Thanks.

The staff was not very welcoming, but not directly unfriendly. They just seemed indifferent to the guests wellbeing. The meter on the radiator in my room was broken. I could not adjust the heating. Luckily was is possible to open the windows.

"Ideal Birmingham Base for Night Life"
Based on the Hagley Road the hotel is ideally situated for a decent price from the night life of Broad Street. The rooms are a little worse for wear but clean. The public area conveniences are to be left alone. Must be doing something right as its the first place we look at when visiting Birmingham

Nice people, but not professional. Hotel very shabby. Paper peeling from wall, dirty bathroom, poor workmanship throughout, carpets dirty, television did not work (no aerial cable). Informed at reception and nothing done. Pretty much the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Advertised as a 3 star hotel - should not have any!!!!
"Portland, the 1950s throwback"
Hotel looked like something out of the 1950s. Damp was rampant in the room and lights were out in the corridors. The shower was poor and took a long time to heat up. The general atmosphere of the hotel was one of distinct unfriendliness. All this place needs is updating and would be much better as the cleanliness was up to standard.

However as to the quality of the room that I stayed in this was not very good at all, the bathroom was really pocky and the walls n floor in the bedroom were dirty, which made me question how clean the bed was! It was -7 outside came back at 1am doors shut waited 10mins there was someone inside trying to get out for a smoke, someone came opened doors I asked why did I have to wait 10 min to get in, we got into a argument as he said he had to check around hotel and its not his problem as he is on his own, hotel management problem. "Portland Hotel - Disgraceful and Not 3*"
We had trouble from checking in, as there was a mix up with the booking confirmation. When we eventually got to our room we were immediatly disgraced by the smell of damp and faeces. The damp was obvious on the carpet, wall and ceiling. When trying to work the shower, it would not stay turned on, and also we noticed holes in the two doors (ensuite and […] main), and a hole in the skirting board. The room was far from clean, and there had obviously been a toilet leak at one point that was not dealt with correctly. We called reception to ask for a room change and he came down to see our room. He stated the shower was working correctly (when it was flooding the bathroom), there was no bad smell, and that many other people stay in this room and are happy with it. When we asked him if he would stay in the room he arrogantly answered "Yes I Would". We immediatly got on the phone to hotels.com, and made our complaint which was dealt with perfectly. We left the hotel immediatly and found another hotel in Birmingham. I was not impressed, and still cannot believe this is a 3* hotel. We later moved to another 3* hotel which seemed like more than a 5* in comparasion. Les mer

A long walk to town, in need of modernisation and the service of desk staff was average to poor, with service ranging from friendly to disinterested to Basil Fawlty style rants if you asked for something at the wrong moment. The room was large and good value for the price. The price alone would draw me back.

This tiny hotel claiming to be 2-3 star was clean friendly well equipped at £5-10 taxi ride from Bull Ring main shopping Mall .The Cab drivers were also friendly.If anyone has any work in the area or interest nearby this hotel had even a restaurant and a lift at low price stay.

This hotel is not in the heart of Birmingham, but it is a £7 taxi journey away from Broad Street or provided by lots of bus routes. The hotel staff are friendly and try their best to please. Overnight stay at the hotel for access to Birmingham town centre was goood & value for money. A long 30 minute walk into town if you like that sort of thing or plenty of buses - ensure you have the right change! basically its cheap its a bed for the night, not far from birmingham city centre, the hotel in general is very dated, very scruffy, except bar area, in dire need of renovation. but for twenty odd quid for a double room its fairly clean, comfy stop off......dont go for romantic getaway or ur partner will kill u. if ur gay have thick skin.....they expect […] same sexes to have twin rooms...its 2010 not 1810!!!!!! "Flea Pit - avoid if at all possible!"
This hotel is awful. Only stay here if you are on a very tight budget. The general hotel is run down, many parts of the corridors are really stinky and the whole place looks like it hasn't had a clean for a long long time. The room was basic, which is fine, but the problem was the condition - there were massive chunks out of the wall in numerous places, […] and the whole thing needed a paint, a carpet change and a replaster. Cleanliness was appalling - there was hair in the bath, the carpet hadn't been hoovered and the room generally felt dirty. They hadn't even replaced the loo roll - just left the empty one there with no others in the room, and the toilet seat was cracked into two! Also, the walls are paper thin. All in all, if you are on a very very tight budget and not fussed about cleanliness or service, then fine, but I would say it is worth paying an extra £10-£15 per night and getting one of the big brands - at least you know what you are getting! I have stayed in millions of hotels, many of them flea pits also, but never in the UK and never via a good website like hotels.com, so never felt the need to write a review before! Les mer

The room, while clean was not in great condition, there were two spots of plaster missing over the head board, and there was some substamce on the wall there as well. The whole room needed to be painted as there were unsightly marks on the wall also. The reading light in over the bed was not working and the one of the lights in the bathroom was also […] out. Staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel was dated and the corridors smelt of smoke. The room was ok, the furniture was old, marked, stained etc, but it did us for one night and it was extremely cheap.

I only spent one night at the hotel, the room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpfull, I did not eat there so i cannot comment on the food. What did let the hotel down was the condition of the forecourt, litter and weeds all over, its a pity because a half hour a day would remedy that.

Huolehdittiin aamulla että asiakas on taksiin menossa. "Oma taksipalvelu" -> edullisemmat hinnat. Hotellissa oma ravintola, jossa langaton netti. Ystävällinen palvelu.
