"Sentralt i forhold il det meste"Anmeldt av en hotels.com-gjest den mai 7, 2012
Meget bra hotell, lett å komme rundt i byen
"Super beliggenhet nær Union Square og Chinatown"Anmeldt av en hotels.com-gjest den apr 29, 2012
Enkelt og bra hotell i Europeisk stil (les: litt shabby), meget sentralt. Hyggelig betjening, rent og ikke spesielt lytt. Veldig bra valuta for pengene. Anbefales!

"Not a 3 star hotel"
This was definitely not a 3 star hotel. The carpet was dirty and it's in a run down neighborhood. Also, no breakfast at all.
"Inn at Jack London: Satisfactory and Inexpensive"
I certainly wouldn't rush back; no one would ever confuse this with a luxury venue, but it's quite serviceable, clean, convenient and most of all, inexpensive. There are three hotels right there, all with similar names: The Jack London Inn, the Waterfront Inn, and the Inn at Jack London, so don't confuse them. I actually thought I was staying at a different […] hotel. The only real complaint, however, is that it's noisy. Other than that it's quite satisfactory for one night. Les mer

"great value"
centrally located to clubs and dining... kincaids and miss pearls acroos street on bay... fat lady jazz club around corner..pool hall acrooss street.. jazz club around corner.. buttercup grill adjacent...gret location we walked and partied all n ight and had a great experience
"Inn at Jack London Square"
This Hotel is on the edge of Jack London Square and is convenient to downtown Oakland . One of the pluses was that it has onsite parking and is included in the overall rate. However the room was just ok, and the bathroom was in disrepair, the shower door was off the track and leaning into the shower.
"pay more for a better hotel!"
The room was clean, however it is located in a rough part of town. I should have paid more for a better hotel. It was noisy, near train tracks and just average. Fitness center was out of order, as well as the pool.
"Inn at Jack London Square/friendly staff/location+"
The location was great. We used the ferry to go to San Francisco and also the Amtrak Station to come and go. Bart is close by and there was a free shuttle bus from Bart to the Amtrak station. The staff was very helpful with ideas and directions.
Comfy K bed, courtyard blocked the train very well. Free parking is a real plus.
"The Inn at Jack London Square-biker's haven"
The Inn at JLS was alright, although one of the beds was like a hammock--sagging in the middle. It is a great location for Jack London Square, however the Bar on the corner was a biker's hangout and they were having drag races until after 2am! Next to impossible to sleep! Two phone calls to the front desk to call the police didn't seem to have any effect. […] We were more worried about the Amtrak trains, but they stopped running at about 10 pm. Les mer
"Not really a 3 star hotel"
More like a 2 star budget motel. Neighborhood is scary. They tried though. Got it at a deep discount and I thought it I was getting a deal, not really :(
A bit of a delay checking in due to their old computer system, but not to bad. Free parking available under the hotel. Way better than on the street.

"Close to Jack London Square and Good Food"
4 of 9 exercise machines were broken; the beds were lumpy; it was quieter than expected (the train goes by and there was lots of air traffic)
"Comments"
The air conditioner in room 118 does not work at all; if the air conditioner doesn't work, what else is not working? This is a "Business Hotel", but, no morning rolls or cereal (complementry breakfast)? Who is kidding who? A scheduled "power-wash" occurred during our entire 2nd day. The NOISE prevented a nice quiet anything. The toilet paper is so thin […] and cheap, that it tears off the roll in shreds. Not much fun when we are trying to "clean up". I will make sure to never stay at this hotel again, and, I'll make sure my family and friends know about the short-comings. -Nice pool and tanning location on the first floor. Les mer

"Close to jack London square"
The room was decent-no real issues, just sort of old. We were in the back away from the pool and I thought it would be noisy but was ok. There was a panhandler in the parking lot.
"Motel at Jack London Square"
The recent room remodel is very nice. The location works well for any access to any area in Oakland. Although there has been a face lift it still has an 'old Motel' feel. Which is ok with me. The registration staff who was there when I checked-in and checked-out was slow, never made eye contact, and did not appear to enjoy people. Not the best of first […] impressions. Rooms were great, location great, and cost was reasonable. Les mer
Hotel nicely located in tough area of Oakland. Jack London Square in trouble with considerable vacant space. Scott's Restaurant there however is wonderful. Also good is the Buttercup Restaurant next to the hotel. Carpeting should have been replaced a couple of years ago and beds would really benefit from pillow top mattresses. Maid service prompt and […] good. Les mer
"Only here because everything else was booked"
Needed to be in San Francisco for business for a week, but due to conferences and tourist season all my normal hotels were booked solid or absurdly overpriced. So I ended up at the Inn at Jack London Square, commuting via BART. It's not a terrible hotel, but it's certainly not going to win any awards, either. The rooms are comfortable enough, but privacy […] is concerning (ground floor room with windows on the very public courtyard). Noise is also an issue, especially with the train tracks right next door - I wake up at 5am when the train comes by blowing its whistle. Facilities are pretty poor, too - just about everything in the fitness center is broken, for example, and the elevator is pretty sketchy too. Upsides are few - the diner next door is decent, it's close to Jack London Square if you want to go there for some reason (food, maybe?), and it's walkable to BART, though it can be a bit daunting after dark. Overall, I don't recommend the hotel unless you're on a tight budget and have nowhere else to stay. Les mer
"Good location, but..."
Front desk lady was extremely nice and helpful- kudos for their choice of employees! Internet service was intermittent and painfully slow. The sound insulation was very poor, which was a problem since it's located near the train tracks. Being periodically awakened by a loud train whistle was not a pleasant or comfortable experience.
"Jack London-Oakland"
the lady at the desk when we checked in was at best impolite. Not welcoming or cordial in any way. Hotel was just adequate. If we had another choice I would take it.
"Older than appears in pictures"
Felt like we were back in the 1950's. Place is clean, but if you want more modern surroundings you should look elsewhere.

We had a corner room and there was lots of noise on the street. First there was a group of bicyclists with loud music, but it went by fairly quickly, but about 3am there were motorcyclists revving their bikes and making horrible noise for what seemed like for at least an hour. This place is only a few blocks from the police headquarters and no sign […] of police ever. The staff was nice and the room was clean, but maybe not a place to rest on a Friday night. Les mer

"Jack London Square - Sunday market was great"
If you're happy to stay outside of San Francisco, the Inn at Jack London Square is good value. The BART is a 10min walk away and then it takes another 15 or 20mins to get to Powell Station at Union Square. I appreciated having undercover parking during my stay. The beds were VERY comfortable.
very nice place but the walls are a bit thin it's noisy if you have noisy neighbors next door or above
This place is very deceiving from the outside, but I was pleasantly surprised when I headed to my room. The rooms all face a pretty pool and nice courtyard. They are recently decorated and quite comfortable. Good location and an overall great value! I will definitely stay here again when I visit my brother; he lives in Oakland.
There are a good number of eateries within 2 blocks of the hotel.
"Trip to San Francico"
Clean rooms, nice Pool and good acces to the ferry to San Francisco. The walk to the BART is about 10 min.
bad neighborhood, cheap motel, location is bad too. It showed that's a 3 star hotel, it really is a motel doesn't worth any star at all
"Trains"
It so happens that the INN is two blocks from the main AMTRACK line linking northern and southern California. My first night I was awaken four times by the trains tooting their way down the Embarcadero. It seemed they were right outside my window, which was closed. By the fourth night, I was used to the tooting, and was not awakened. And by the way, […] each engineer has their own rythymic tooting of the air horn. Perhaps they should change the nameof the INN to The Inn by the Oakland AMRACK Station. Sincerely A. Zoecar Les mer
"Not bad, but a bit worn about the edges."
The Inn at Jack London Square is well situated, it is close to the marina and close to downtown. The hotel itself is a bit run down, the carpets were dirty and worn, the paint on the walls in the room was poorly done. But the beds were clean as was the rest of the room and the price was reasonable. However, the trains run nearby and were very noticeable. […] The pool was also not very clean. I saw a seagull swimming in it. So, I do not know if I would recommend it but I might go there again just due to the reasonable rates. Les mer
"The Inn at Jack London Square"
Everything was pretty well O.K., except for the dresser which was obviously unbalanced - the drawers remained completely open! The room itself was spacious and clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. It was great being able to sleep with the window open (3rd floor).
"sounds coming out of the walls"
the hotel room i was given 201 was right next to the elevator and there was also some fan or compressor noises coming through the walls that the front desk couldn't identify. one of the other posts talks about a train, they are absolutely correct, so i requested a quite room on the hotels com site but i'm pretty sure no one at the hotel read anything […] i posted. the floors are carpeted and very old and gross looking. the beds were lumpy and difficult to sleep on... i didn't get one good night of sleep out of 3 nights. even the water in the sink had a funky smell. I'm usually not too picky, but this was a gross hotel. Les mer

"Oakland- just a hop & skip from San Francisco"
First, don't make the mistake of walking into the Jack London Inn-- it's just around the corner but a world away. My heart sank when I thought I'd booked there-- but the Inn at Jack London Square is a completely different story-- it's not brand new and it's not boutique but it's perfectly fine. Yes, the square has become a bit seedy and you certainly […] don't want to walk around after dark-- but we felt perfectly safe and really liked the staff at the hotel and the Buttercup Restaurant too-- and Urban Coffee around the corner has a very entertaining barista. We never got to use the pool but it looks lovely and one morning I saw a Blue Heron sitting in the shallow end. I would definitely stay here again-- especially at the hotel.com rate that I got! "The Inn At Jack London Square"
This was probably the worst hotel that we have ever stayed in. The hotel is old, but that wasn't the problem. The windows were so dirty we couldn't see across the street. It is about 2 blocks from a train station and the train noise went all night long. The street noise eased up around 1 or so after the bars closed down. After a day of sight seeing […] we got back to the room to find that the room had not been cleaned or bed made. I called to at least get clean towels which they did deliver. My fault for not checking, but they brought one bath towel and four hand towels. The desk clerk was being very argumentative with a guest on the phone when we first arrived. I thought maybe they were giving her a hard time, but after being there a few days we realized that customer service was not that important to the staff. One the plus side, the restaurant that was attached was excellent. The food was good and plentiful and the staff there was completely different from the hotel. Les mer

"Village Like Location"
The accomodations were adequate and the housekeeping staff was very good. We did enjoy the location that is away from downtown, but easy access to the ferry boats, BART and Oakland Chinatown. The local restaurants were above average. The neighborhood could be a bit a problem at night since it is a warehouse district and not well lit.
"Clean Hotel but on border of rough neighborhood"
I recently stayed one evening at the Inn at Jack London Square and found it to be a clean, comfortable hotel. It was a little data but the showere was hot, the bed comfortable and the locatoin was within walking distance of my meeting and the Amtrak Train Station in Oakland. In addition they were kind enough to let us check in at 10:00 AM after we had […] just arrived on an overnight train. I needed a shower before my 11:00 meeting and was most appreciative that they didn't make us wait until normal check in time. Please do keep in mind that the hotel is located in a recovering area, it is two blocks from the marina/harbour which has nice restaurants and office buidlings. It is also only two blocks to the Ferry and five blocks from the Amtrak Station. (Note the trains go by 4-6 times a day blowing horns) However, the street it is on is the demarcation to the older part of town with truck terminals, warehouses, adult book/video stores and rough areas. So, if you take this into account then I recommend anyone stay here for a few evengins. Les mer
