Civic Center Motor Inn - San Francisco

This motor inn is conveniently near all the action in San Francisco. It is quite comfortable and clean; especially in light of some of the surroundings. Parking is a bit tight, but it is to be expected in the inner city locale.

my stay at this hotel was very good.

I stayed here a week, parking was only difficult on Friday night after 10pm, the rest of the time was very easy to find a spot. They're doing construction, so some noise and dust during the day but didn't really bother me at all. Neighborhood is OK, felt safe during the day/evening but like much of SF, wouldn't wander around in the middle of the night. […] Room was clean & comfortable, had a wall mounted lcd and microwave/refrigerator. My chief complaint is they accidentally charged my card than $500 despite my stay being prepaid through hotels.com. I had to call them to get the charge reversed, they acknowledged it was a mistake immediately. Les mer

So far this is the best place to stay in the city. Nice area, convienent locations to go anywhere like shopping, etc. rooms are very cleanand lots of privacy. Has strong wifi signal, One thing is the cleaning ladies are hard to communicate because of language barrier and not quite friendly either they are shy or affraid even to acknoweldge ur stay in […] the motel. I was glad to see that there was a coffee pot and a little refrigerator in the room. When I went out to dinner I was able to take back some left-overs to heat in the room. The wifi was easy to access and very fast. The room was very spacious and most importantly it was very clean. I will definitely stay here again.

We were pleased to the motel, the location is good, you can walk to downtown or to the bus stop. Price was good concidering that you can park your car for free. Nice stay.

The room was pricey, but it was clean and smoke free. The location was very convenient for our SF activities. It was nice to have secure parking as well.

When I 1st seen the hotel it didn't look like the picture on line..they need to paint there building..didn't like that check in is at 3pm.my room was very clean and I love the bath room it was very nice and clean..the sheets were clean..over all I was happy and felt it was worth my money BUT I was very upset the next morning to wake up to throw up allllll […] over my BMW! There were lots of cars in the parking lot and my car was the only one with throw up.. I went to check out and told the own and all he said was sorry there's nothing I can to! Its smacked right on the hot spot of castro. If you dont mind staying close by then great. Ongoing traffic of castro folks. Which was amusing itself. But if your not into that then I don't know.

Sbout a block from this hotel in any direction are gay bars, lots of gay bars. If you head north you encounter the gay community that walks around wearing all leather S&M type outfits. I saw a high number of law enforcement personnel, however I suspect that the ones wearing tight fitting all leather outfits might not have been real cops. I also observed […] men in nothing more than leather studded jock straps fondling each others nipples on the street. If this isn't the type of culture you want to expose your children to I would suggest finding another location. Parking is limited. Most of the spots required you to back in. The rooms looked like they were updated about 30 years ago. The television had channel bleed over on most of the channels. The water pressure was amazing, and you even hear a loud pipe banging sound to warn you step out of the stream before dramatic temperature shifts caused by your fellow lodgers. We had no idea where this place was. All we knew was it was the cheapest. When we arrived we discovered that it was within walking distance of all sorts of great things. I had a problem with my "hotels.com" booking and two staff spent ages on the phone for me, sorting it out. They were still working on things like the swimming pool and some outstanding […] external works, but I have to say once that is done they're going to have a great venue. Staying at hotel was a great service and more than I spected . Very clean and access was convenient .

This hotel serves it's purpose but there are many other hotels around that I think would be of better quality. And tip to guy in the office - better customer service goes a long way! Not that you were rude, but have a little personality :)

It's an inn so it's small. You get what you pay for. There's wi-fi if you ask and everything seems pretty organized and clean. If you're just looking for a place to stay, here's the place. If you're looking for some extravagant hotel, look somewhere else.

When I checked into the hotel I was greeted by signs of construction in the back parking lot. There were notes on the door of the main office along with notes in the room, but it would have been nice to know before booking the hotel that I might have to deal with construction noises in the morning. The bathroom was oddly shaped but it was clean and […] the shower worked well. The television took a few minutes to figure out because it was left on a music station and I had no way to figure that out until I changed positions in the room. Once the construction is completed I think this will be a very good experience for the price. Les mer

Good hotel, but the service was pretty bad. Half the time my hotel card key didnt work and had to walk back to the reception to get it working again.

I was in a disabled room round the back - quite cosy once I'd settled in, but a bit dark. Could have used more hanging space, but the tv was great and everything worked fine. About ten minutes' walk from Civic Center BART station, but not a super-nice neighbourhood at night. That said, as a woman travelling alone, I felt fine.

Fantastic place to stay, Rahil the Manager is top notch, Alexandria is also a great person, along with Olivia the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Maintenance Staff, along with the room service are all fantastic.

When we got there we noticed instantly that we had paid too much. There were lots of young people in the parking lot at night making lots of noise. We were there for three nights and everyday i had to get a new key because the key would not work after noon each day. The front desk gave a key to my room mate without checking his I.D. which would have […] been slightly less disturbing if his name had been on the room, which it wasn't. And there was literally a homeless person on the steps outside our door the ENTIRE time we were there. I'd get my money back if i could. thank you! Les mer

This hotel is just what it claims to be: a Motor Inn near the Civic Center. Nothing fancy, but the price was right. The rooms were clean and nice, but pretty old. I believe they're working on fixing that up though (they're currently under construction, but it's not at all invasive or loud). The location was just on the wrong side of good. During the […] day we felt fine walking around, but after talking to some people we decided against walking back to the hotel at night. Since we had a car (YAY for free parking!!!!!!) we drove to dinner at night (meters are free after 6 or 7 depending on your location)--but since the hotel isn't in the middle of nowhere I'm sure cabs wouldn't be too pricey. So I guess you're wondering why I gave them four stars for just an ok hotel in an ok location....they have excellent customer service. There was a slight mixup with payment and I was terrified that it would be a hassle (too many horror stores I guess). It was not a problem, they fixed it right away over the phone. They were great to deal with. And free parking is pretty hard to beat. Les mer

the bathroom was newer and clean. the room was small, stuffy, and smelly. the blankets smelled bad. we couldn't really relax. glad we were only there for a short time.

This was your average hotel. Room was clean, but there were several less than stellar elements: 1- Less than half of the lights had bulbs in them, most notably in the bathroom (bar light had only 2 working bulbs). The main room lamp had a broken CFL, that I imagine was not very good for my health. 2- Bathroom sink had broken faucet. Hot water worked, […] cold water didn't. 3- Shower water temperature was hardly warm, not good for me, as I love HOT showers. 4- Windows were single pane, and I heard every car & person within a half block of the hotel. My favorite was having to listen to a car alarm right outside my room blasting for over 15 minutes while I was trying to sleep. 5- Swimming pool... wouldn't get in it if you paid me. Les mer

Lots of street noise and transiants partying 'til wee hours in the morning.

Everything was in good order. A 25 min walk to Disneyland with kids. 15 if you are a fast walker.

I have been staying at this hotel off and on since August of 2010. It is near my business and allows me a safe, comfortable place to stay. The neighborhood is quiet at night and friendly during the day. I'm a big fan

Great, clean hotel - just a little sketchy. The owners started remodeling about three years ago and haven't finished and they now lost their Best Western status, at least in the interim. Owner is stingy - wants to charge Marriott rates, but then gets stuck with empty rooms, sold at the last minute to hookers, drug dealers, tweakers, and those wanting […] a hotel room to party with their buddies, drinking till the early hours... Surprisingly - it's not really an issue! Everyone is pretty respectful; even the rift-raft are courteous. Lots of overseas tourists balance things out. Someone just needs to get the owner to understand he is ruining his own reputation. Les mer

RUN!!! This is a shady motel! Doors on the outside, accessible to anyone. Dark, no lighting outside. Front desk room locks down at dusk, and staff are rude. Plus, they're doing construction and it's really, really noisy. Oh, and even when construction is done, you wont want to swim in the "pool" anyway. I can't be too specific because of the review […] rules, but let's just say some of the other tenants are, well, not family-friendly. Drink vending machine doesn't even have anything in it. Les mer

We checked into this hotel because we were attending an event in the area and didn't want to drive home afterwards. The outside has been under renovation/costruction for a long time so we weren't sure what to expect. The hotel staff were friendly and the check in was quick. The rooms are basic but clean. Pluses: - Bathroom was fairly new remodeling […] and the shower stall was good sized. - Lots of hot water!! - Towels and sheets while not luxurious were soft and brilliant white! Love fresh linens. - Check out couldn't have been easier. Downsides - Room smelled of cleaning supplies, i guess clean is good but wow! - Full size bed is way too small for two grown ups. Get rid of the tiny table and chairs and get a queen bed in there. Over all I would definitely use it for convenience again or would recommend it for someone on a budget. Les mer

I stay there often and when staying there, it is always a very pleasant stay, I just love the way that the rooms are designed, the staff is just fantastic , very professional and accommodating.

The motel was excellent, however parking was tight. I arrived for check-in a little after 3am. The front desk guy was nice and courteous. There were only 2 small parking spaces left. I drive an S class Mercedes. After taking my stuff to the room, I managed to squeeze into one of the small two spaces in back. The front desk guy offered to have me park […] in another spot, but I would have had to leave my keys. I opted not to do this due to the fact that my car is rather expensive. The motel is in downtown San Francisco so I understand parking real estate would be limited to the number of rooms. Although the exterior of the motel is under renovation, the room was clean and excellent. The wireless Internet worked perfectly. TV worked good. They had in room coffee and little refrigerator for my water. The wake up call was on time. They even let me keep my car parked there after checkout, while I went to Moscone Center to give my speech. I picked my car up after I was done. This motel was well worth the money at basically less than 50% of comparable rooms at other hotels in San Francisco proper. I recommend this room. Les mer
