"Thunderbird at Mackinaw City"
We arrived late (after 10 pm local time) and were able to check in with complete ease. It was chilly (1st weekend in October) and there's a heater (and air conditioner, though we didn't use it) and that was very nice to get the room toasty and comfy. TV is older and picture wasn't fantastic, but I'm not picky about technology. Had coffee maker and fridge […] in room which was great. Best continental breakfast! The woman there will make you a fresh Belgium waffle and there were eggs, cereal, toast, muffins, yogurt, bagels, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, juice, milk, coffee, tea...so much and no extra charge! Location is very convenient to downtown Mackinaw City. No lake view, but that's how you can get such a bargain! There was a very nice looking indoor pool and hot tub, but we didn't use it. Would definitely recommend...lots of bang for your buck! Les mer

"Thunderbird Best Western Inn, MI"
staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms very clean. I would recommend this best western to my friends. We will be staying there next fall along with our friends. Glad that there was a quick breakfast available to us and the service and food was great.
The main selling point for this place was the complimentary HOT breakfast and indoor pool. Although the Jacuzzi was out of order, I did have a chance to go swimming (even though it was 45 outside). The pool was very warm and relaxing, even with the temperature outside. The amenities in the room were dated, but comfortable. Location to town wasn't anything […] spectacular. In the summer, I'm sure walking would be fine, but it was just slightly too cold for our stay. My main complaint was the quality of the towels. I know it seems like an arbitrary aspect, but the towels were obviously old, some of which were worn through in spots. We ended up having to grab a couple towels from the pool house. Aside from this, it was very comfortable for the price, and I would definitely stay again. Les mer

It was clean but there were some outdated items like the hair dryer that looked like a vacuum cleaner, a iron board that was jumping off the wall in the bathroom and a toilet seat that was crooked on the toilet so that when you sat on it the lid attacked you. What was nice is that it was close to everything and a good price. Handy to have a laundry […] on site and an indoor pool and fairly quiet. Les mer

"wonderful stay"
We thought our stay was great. The place is really clean and the staff is really nice. The only downside was the spa was not working during our stay and would have a perfect end to a perfect day. we would stay again in the future.
"Great value for the location"
The hotel room was very cheap but it did not detriment the quality of the breakfast included. The waffles were made to order, fruits-biscuit and sausage gravy, orange and apple juice available 24/7...I obviously put a lot of importance to the quality of what I am eating over the quality of the room, I am french :). "Good value"
For the price paid, this was an adequate hotel with good value. If two and half were a ratings option, that is where I would put it. In room refrigerator, indoor pool with late hours and free breakfast are among the amenities. The hot tub (spa) was hot but the jets were not functional. The room's furnishing were dated but clean. The only problem I had with this hotel was that there was a moving sale in the parking lot of the hotel right in front of the lobby. This is a bit ridiculous if you ask me. I'm not sure if this person worked at the hotel and thought that it would be a great location since it was Labor Day weekend but this is not what I want to see when I go on vacation […] and spend money to stay at a place. "Convenient, comfy, great deal!"
You truly can't beat this hotel. The price was amazing, the room was very comfortable & clean, the staff was courteous, the breakfast was very nice - including fresh waffles and biscuits & gravy. The location is just a couple minutes from the main drag of macinaw city. I would definitely stay here again!

"Nice place"
A nice little hotel. Great for kids. Had a fantastic little playground right on the property, that they share with the hotel next door. My only complaint was that we were in a room in the far corner of the motel, and the wifi did not work from our room. We traveled with a large group and service at the hotel was exceptional for all the guests. Due to the great service we would happily stay there again.

the motel was at the far south end, so we drove into the down town area. The bed was the high light of the stay. So very very comfortable!!! Our room was on the ground floor with outside entry doors. Did not get a chance to use the pool, but it looked very nice, and was in a building set apart from the motel as was the place where you got a hot/contintal […] breakfast. Yes, we would stay there again and it was the most reasonable priced in the city. Les mer

the rooms were clean. The pool area (indoor) was dirty,cobweb, spiders in corners.the free breakfast was ok. I've had better.The showers ran hot then cold everytime someone flushed.The parking lot needs a little work.
"Excellent choice and better price than the others"
We were on a motorcycle ride from Green Bay WI to Portland ME and this was the best value of all the hotels we stayed in. Bigger room so the rollaway bed fit nicely and better price than the hotels down the main drag closer to the shopping, which as guys didn't interest us at all. We even got to check in early to drop our gear and ride some more.

I enjoyed the service at the thunderbird inn. Service was very friendly. The only thing of my concern the jacuzzi was not working in the pool area but they said they were working on the problem.

Very close to shopping and ferries to the Island. Floor of room was nasty and left our feet very dirty, but I told the front desk and hopefully they will clean it. Hot tub's bubbler wasn't working, but was still hot. Shower water changed temps randomly and often. Decent breakfast in the morning. Easy in and easy out of the parking lot.
The hotel was great. Close to everything. Pool was clen and wonderful. Rooms were clean and had a full breakfast which was delicious. Highly recommend this hotel for travelling to mackinaw city.
"Two night getaway"
Its in a good location if you want to get away from the traffic of the "downtown" area. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are very clean. The breakfast bar is located near the office, and is kept well stocked by a very friendly attendant. Overall a very nice place to stay, and we will definitely stay there again when we visit in the future.

"Cheap and clean"
The guy at the front desk was really friendly and quite helpful. Our rooms were really clean, we were just a few minutes away from all the shops. The pool was clean and the hot tub was really hot (the jets were broken though). We had to ask the maid for coffee and she was even really sweet. Great place!
"Nice and Inexpensive"
Close to great dining. Biggest issue was the air conditioner unit was not in the bed area but in the bathroom sink area, seperated from the bed by a partial wall. The air movement was not very good, and it got very warm sleeping while the bathroom was very cold. But overall, a nice place to spend a night after a day of vacation activities.
"Close to the charming village"
From the professionalism of the staff at the front desk to the incredibly comfortable bed, this hotel is a definite winner. It was also very convenient to the village where shopping abounds and the freeway which was less than a 250 metres away. I would definitely stay here again. Great value too.

"Never Again..."
Best Western has lost me as a customer for good. The Thunderbird Inn is very deceiving by it's looks and the pictures. This is actually a motel style place, which you cannot see within the photos. When we arrived, it took 10 minutes for an employee to great us at the front desk. Our room was supposed to be a king size bed with a jacuzzi. We ended up […] with a terrible queen bed and the jacuzzi wasn't even clean from whomever used it that morning. Same with the shower. Needless to say neither were used. Along with our room we were given a $25 gift card for a restaurant called Bluewater Bar & Grill. A pathetic excuse for a restaurant. The place is dirty just like the Thunderbird Inn, we walked out before even ordering. Speaking of food, let's talk about the breakfast. We were supposed to have Belgian Waffles delivered to our room but they refused to cooperate. Instead we had to go to the Breakfast nook which is basically located in a shack on the other side of the property. 30 people were waiting to use two crappy waffle makers which were probly bought at a Swap Meet. Dry bread, no juice, and dry muffins came along with the breakfast. This was by far the WORST hotel I have ever seen. Through all my traveling, this was probably the grossest place I have seen. My family and I stayed at Best Western for the weekend and were very happy with our stay. The only negative points dealt with the shower. The water continuously changed temperature while in the shower and the shower would not drain. Other than that it was very comfortable.

"Was OK"
from the pictures on here I expected more. It is actually a motel not a hotel and from the outside of the rooms looks, well less than inviting. Before we ever went in the room we tried to get our money back but couldn't because we booked on here. Once we got in the room's themsevles were clean and pretty nice. That staff was all very nice and the complimentary […] breakfast was pretty good. They are not on the main strip with the rest of the hotels on the water and by the shops. Les mer

"Recommend"
Stayed 2 nights in May 2011. We arrived early and a room was ready for us. The heater did not work in the room and another room was given to us within 5 minutes. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was stocked well. Staff very friendly. Would recommend this hotel
"Beds"
I was skeptical staying here due to the reviews on the beds. When I arrived, I found out that they have replaced all their beds this year. The beds were quite comfortable, and they offered a nice assortment for a free breakfast. For a cheaper option around Mackinac, this is a great option.

My parents room didn't have hot water the night we checked in and smelled musty. The hotel could not get ahold of maintenance. Nothing was done! The water was warm the next day but never hot. The desk clerk was not helpful and seemed meek and indecisive.
