Spent 2 nights. Nice room and good breakfast. Disappointed with evening meal where service was incredibly slow despite there being only one other table dining. Very good value stay overall.

Service was great and the location was very tranquil and relaxing. It was a short walk to the lovely centre of Buxton. Sadly we didn't stay long enough to sample the restaurant food, so we'll just have to go back!

The hotel was part of the Best Western chain but has been run by a family for 3 generations and felt that way. Fantastic staff, friendly service and lovely feel to the place.

Spend a winter weekend here. Some refurbishment work being carried out, but didn't spoil our experience. Very friendly and helpful staff. Special diet needs were catered for. Having two small armchairs in the room helped us to relax.

There was everything I could possibly want in the room. It was stylish, comfortable and warm--even though there was a blizzard outside. The staff could not have been more helpful, all were professional, considerate, and charming...they were young locals but managed to provide North American style hospitality. Although creative and well presented the […] food was not to my taste--portions too big and too few vegetables and fruit. Nevertheless, I imagine it suits British tastes and the cooked breakfasts were very well done. Just not to my, healthy-lifestyle, North American taste. only stayed one night bed only, alone but given a wonderful double.Bathroom fabulous with deep villroy and bosche bath ,pure luxury, obviously recently refurbished room. Very reasonable price.Room of luxury standardin all respaects. Only one minor quibble, the uht milk on the tray tasted vile, so I was unable to drink my morning cup of tea.I know uht […] can be bad but this was the worst ever. This was the second time we had stayed at this hotel but this time our room was in the annex away from the main hotel. It was quiet and warm and cosy. We were going to the theatre and had an excellent pre theatre meal in the hotel's conservatory. The quality of the food was excellent and the staff very attentive.

This hotel is a shining example of how a hotel should be run. It was tidy, clean, the staff were very considerate and the serviceberry fantastic. I would also recommend the food, it was exquisite. A must stay if you plan on visiting Buxton.

We were in Buxton for a few days, sightseeing the Peak District. The hotel was well placed within a short walk to town, but away from traffic noise. Lots of parking around the hotel. The nicest part of our stay was being looked after by the friendly and welcoming staff. At one point we were locked out of our room (the batteries of our card entry door […] lock needed replacing). Staff attended straight away and the batteries were replaced within minutes. our only grumble was the food in the restaurant, although good, was very expensive, in our view. Les mer

It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff are lovely, the hotel very welcoming and comfortable and the food is great - and all round high standard. Buxton is full of delightful things to see and do with plenty of places to eat and indivual shops in which to browse. We shall certainly be coming again.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, the service and food were very good and the location was easy to find and well situated for visits to many places in the Cotswolds. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend or stay here again.

The breakfast range was extensive, and the food absolutely delicious. My mother and I absolutely loved this hotel, which had a spacious twin room and friendly staff on reception who were willing to help us out with any query. The hotel was clean and well maintained. Well situated to walk into Buxton town centre. Very helpful and friendly reception staff and a spotlessly clean room. Super freshly cooked breakfast with lots of choice. Would stay again without question.

We were given a warm welcome after a long journey and allocated a very nice room with a beautiful view, a very large, comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. We particularly loved the big conservatory where meals were served; enhanced by the twinkling, white lights for atmosphere in the evening. The food was extremely good and the range of fruits at […] breakfast much appreciated. Overall, the staff were quietly friendly, quick to give help and we looked forward to going back each evening. The room was great - more like a suite and there was plenty of room. Food in the restaurant was excellent.

The room was comfortable but the one thing we needed most of all was to warm up on a rainy and cold April 2012 day. The shower was a trickle! My daughter and I wanted to wash our hair that night and warm up but it was not to be. The hotel looked old and worn and past its best.

It was fair enough for the price. But it's up a hill from the town centre. On a cold night we got a taxi from the market place area as the walk would have been about 15 mins, but was less than £3 in a taxi. Yes it's walkable, but frankly, the location probably accounts for the reason it's a bit cheaper than the other places.. The other negative was […] the lack of any soundproofing between the rooms. It seemed to be studwork, plasterboard and fresh air between. Not good enough these days. But everything was clean and tidy and it did the job. Les mer

The staff, location, comfort and food standards at this hotel were all excellent. It had a quality, but personal feel to it. It was quiet, set in a lovely area and the bed was extremely comfortable. The restaurant was to a very high standard.

Staff were extremely helpful, sorting out a double booking with ease and upgrading both the room and adding breakfast for the trouble. Excellent setting and comfortable room. Only downside was that the bed was a tad firm.

The Lee Wood is a nice hotel set within an old renovated manor house. The property is split across two buildings: the main building where the majority of rooms, the restaurant & bar, and lounge areas are housed; and a secondary annex building that houses 4-5 rooms. The hotel is tucked into a residential area, but is only a few minutes from the city […] center. I stayed in the one of the annex rooms. The room was nice, but certainly on the small side when compared to US stnadards. It resembled very much a room you would find at a traditional B&B -- a bit dated, but clean and cozy. The bed could have used upgrading, as it was quite broken down, and the water pressure of the shower left much to be desired. The restaurant is lovely. Nice continental breakfast buffet with the option of hot breakfast cooked to order. The lunch and dinner menus are very nice; fairly high end menu choices coupled with excellent presentation at fair prices. The restaurant is worth a visit even if you choose to stay elsewhere. The restaurant and hotel staff inclusive were very nice and helpful, and it felt as though they genuinely cared. Les mer

An "old-fashioned" take on hotel service. Could do with a massive upgrade / refurbishment. I guess OK if you like the "chintzy" approach to hotels, but I find resting on (imagined?) past laurels is inadequate.

Charming and comfortable hotel in the lovely town of Buxton. Excellent restaurant - we had a delicious and reasonably priced meal. What's not to like?!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Best Western Lee Wood Hotel in the delightful town of Buxton. The room and bathroom were spacious, clean, well-appointed and comfortable. My husband so enjoyed the framed prints on the wall that he was inspired to research the artist on the internet. The room was also quiet, but I imagine it could be a little noisy […] on busy weekends. We chose to have an informal dinner in the restaurant which is in the delightful conservatory, and we found the meal excellent and beautifully presented, as was the breakfast the following day. I think one of the most outstanding assets the hotel has is the helpfulness of the staff. We found them particularly helpful and friendly, especially the staff in the restaurant. We have been travelling for six weeks through the UK and Italy, and in this time stayed at many different hotels. Some of them have also been rated three star, but in our experience, have been far inferior to the Lee Wood. We have already recommended this hotel to relatives as a nice weekend or mid week break. Meget velholdt ældre engelsk hotel. Store værelser med nye senge. Stort badeværelse. God restaurant med fornuftigt kort og OK priser. Rigtig venlig og opmærksom betjening. Gratis parkering. Ligger rigelig lang gå-afstand fra byen, men til gengæld godt og uforstyrret med flot udsigt
