Hotel Atlantico Madrid - Madrid

I have never stayed in a cleaner hotel. It was impecable. Highly recommended. A/C was not great but did not take from the stay. Very Central location. Close to many sites of interest.

Apart from the fact that this hotel lacks any real sitting room, it is an excellent choice in Madrid. Moreover, the breakfasts, although not included in the price of the rooms, are well priced and of excellent quality.

After researching more hotels than I care to mention for my trip to Spain last week (Feb. 15-20, 2012), I came across the Hotel Atlantico. After reading the reviews, I decided this hotel was going to be the winner and oh was it!! The Hotel Atlantico is located on the Gran Via between two Metro stops ("Gran Via" and "Callao" - only minutes away walking) […] that will take you anywhere your heart desires in the city. The Gran Via is a great street full of shops, places to eat and only a short 10 minute walk to the Puerto del Sol or the Plaza Major from the hotel. (If you're planning on traveling by the Metro (which I highly suggest because it's efficient and FUN!), you can go down into the "Gran Via" station or the "Callao" station and use the electronic kiosks to purchase Metro tickets.) The hotel front desk staff were amazing and full of suggestions for places to see and restaurants to go to. They also speak impeccable English if you're a bit rusty on your Spanish. If you arrive early (before noon), go ahead and check-in but don't count on your room being ready (as check-out is noon). In my case, my room wasn't ready yet so I left my bags with the front desk staff (they will give you a numbered card so you can claim your luggage when you return) and took off to explore the city. When I returned, my room was ready and I couldn't have been more pleased. The room was large by American standards with two twin beds, night tables on both sides, a small sitting area, a full-size bathroom including a double sink, and a flat screen TV. (Quick note, when you walk in the room, you must place your room key into the slot above the light switch just inside the door. This will allow you to turn on the lights.) The room also had a stocked bar with a small fridge. On the 9th floor is a great little hotel bar along with the business center that has free internet service along with copiers (great for printing your boarding pass for your return trip home). This hotel is a bargain. It is beautiful, well maintained, in a superb location and the staff were very helpful. I will stay at this hotel again.

Very clean rooms, bathrooms are excellent, convenient location and safe.

Great hotel very close to all we needed in Madrid,metro,dining shopping sightseeing etc.

The hotel has the grandeur of an old hotel, but with totally modern rooms and services. The staff were most helpful and professional. Tour buses and shops are steps away. We stayed 4 nights and were completely satisfied.

We stayed an entire week at this hotel right in the heart of old Madrid on the Gran Via. Everything you want to see and visit is in walking distance. This is in a great part of town on the Gran Via. It's right by Callao subway stop, so no need to spend time getting lost trying to figure out where the hotel is. It's clean, safe, and friendly. I booked this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviewers. I was in a single room and it was plenty big for one person. The bathroom was a combination tub/shower. Good light. Javier, who works at the front desk (and I suspect is a manager at the hotel) was incredibly helpful. He did a little research online and marked the route for me on a map to the nearest […] Citibank. He also helped with where to go to get a phone and other inquiries. The top floor terrace and public rooms are a great place to spend some time. All in all, I could not have been more pleased! Loved this hotel. The front desk staff were prompt, attentive and courteous. The hotel, both inside and out, was really top-notch. I don't have one complaint about this hotel. We stayed at the Atlantico for 4 nights and added a very late checkout on the 5th day. The hotel's location is right in the middle of town, walking distance from the museums, the royal palace and right by a metro station. The superior room was sized as a usual room in the US, but quite spacious in European standards. No street noises can be heard in […] the room. This hotel is very nice and comfortable. Not too over the top fancy, just right. The location is near ALL the major sites and activities. I didn't even have to take the metro to anything. The rooms are very clean and the cleaning staff makes sure they are very clean throughout the entire stay. Very happy with hotel. Arrived at 11.30am and were checked in to 2 out of 3 rooms within 10 mins. 3rd room available after 1/2 hour. This is our third year to take a city break and the first time we got availability to rooms prior to 3.00 pm. Reception staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. The rooms were very spacious, clean and very comfortable […] and the bathrooms very clean and big. Check out very professional with a room to leave luggage. Only issue I had was with breakfast. The hot plate was limited and not very warm. Cold plate, juices, & cereals good. Toaster a disaster!! Very convenient to the old town and tourist bus tours. There were six people in our party and all of us would definitely make a return visit to this hotel. The staff, particularly at reception, were extremely helpful and friendly. It's location is v central - within walking distance of most of the main attractions.

Very central Hotel, across the road from Callia metro station. 5 to 10 minute walk from Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. The tour bus stops 50 metres from the hotel. I stayed here for two weeks because I had prepaid via Hotels.com after reading their reviews and those on Tripadvisor which rated the hotel very highly. My experience was not good. After 30 hours of travel, I arrived mid-day to be told I had to wait for my room (while others got keys right away). The first room I had was 514, which is one of the worst […] in the hotel.When I asked immediately to move, I was told there were no other rooms (despite overhearing other arrivals being offered a choice). I was also told by the front desk staff I shouldn't complain because I should have booked a double if I didn't want that room. The first room was a tiny room with one window looking on to the airshaft/courtyard, so it was very dark and claustrophobic. During the day the sound of the water from the fountain was very loud - in the early morning, noise from the showers/toilets in adjacent rooms made the room sound like the bottom of an ocean, and because it was close to the elevators, this caused noise as well. The next day I was moved - down the hall. This room was slightly bigger and had a window on the street. However, that day renovation started on a room three down from my new room. The walls are so thin that the vibration and noise literally shook the bed in my room. When I complained, I was told they were 'just putting up a new mirror' and that it would be finished that day (Monday). In fact, the noisy construction went on for the whole week, making it impossible to sleep or work in the room. In addition, that side of the building has a lot of people at all hours so there is noise, talking, etc. especially on the weekends. When I asked to be moved, I was again told it was too busy, but I could move the next Sunday. I was patient. On Saturday, I asked again - but was again treated negatively by the front desk staff, who refused to acknowledge that my stay had not been ideal to that time (despite being a Best Western member, and having booked a long stay at the hotel). Great location, relatively close to La Puerta del Sol. Grand Via and Callao Metro stations are just a few yards away. The hotel is very clean and the staff was always ready to help! Would definitely recommend it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Atlantico (6 nights, October, 2011). Service was great, room was clean and spacious. Nice breakfast. Shuttle bus to the airport was a plus. The location is very convenient. The only caution I would mention is that we noticed lots of prostitutes (both on the Grand Via and along Calle Montera). Our room was clean and spacious; the bathroom was very good. The location was great - close to sights, restaurants, and shops. A slight negative was that we could hear some noise from adjacent rooms.

I can't imagine a better location than the Gran Via. All of the staff were gracious and friendly. While you might find a cheaper breakfast we thought it was a great value for the quality, choices offered and the atmoshere. A great stay.

Top location, clean comfortable room but a bit small. The aircon leaked considerably onto the room floor when on for a while and the hotel staff didn't consider it an issue. The hotel is also quite noisy between street noise from the busy Gran Via that it is located on and the room cleaners in the morning and so is not conducive to trying to getting […] a good sleep. From the airport easy to navigate the metro brings you right to the front of the hotel! Sits in the Sol district and in the heart of the city. rooms can be dark and quiet if at eh back or bright and bustling if facing the main road Gran Via . Staff gracious keep luggage we broke our stay there with a trip to barcelona in between , they kept our luggage […] till we returned. wonderful 9th floor lounge great views and good place to enjoy a glass of wine. Hop on Hop off bus can be purchased right there , Trips to Toledo too ! and bus for both ,walking distance. Metro right outside too so you can go to museum that way or on the hop on hop off bus depends on how much time you intent to spend, metro ticket much cheaper . lots of eateries walking distance , of hotel. would come back here for sure again . having chosen one night to visit madrid to shop, this hotel was where i needed to be. i know the area. it's not the usual standard of place i stay but its clean and more than adequate.

Positives - probably the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in. Quality hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Fantastic power shower. Negatives - soft furnishings in our room were dated - felt as though we had gone back into the 1970s. The layout of our room meant that the neighbouring bathroom imposed into our room - meaning that when the occupants […] used their power shower at 3 am we were awoken from our slumber. Insulation could be improved. There were no tea or coffee facilities in the room despite being advised there would be. Breakfast was acceptable. This is the second time we have used the hotel in Madrid. It is ona busy street and close to all the sights if you walk or wish to use the metro. The staff are friendly and helpful. We found the rooms on the outside of the buidling and higher up to be the best for us.It takes about 25 minutes to get from the airport on a normal day. Each major sight […] is about a walk of between 20-40 minutes. Plenty of good quality taps bars and resturants around. Beware of ordering too much in a tapas bar the money soon mounts up. Les mer

The Atlantico was in a very central location, close to public transportation, and a good starting point for a walking tour. The room was small, but safe and clean.

Excellent hotel for family weekend trip to Madrid. Great position and lovely rooftop patio and lounge area. Breakfast very acceptable. Rooms are on the small side but clean and adequate. I noticed every morning very noisy doors up stairs or near my room and running water. It made it difficult to have a rest in the mornings.

Great hotel in a great location. The restaurant is for breakfast only, but there is no requirement for a lunch or supper service, because the hotel is surrounded by hundreds of restaurants and bars. I was happy to find this hotel. The area is excellent in terms of getting around Madrid. The staff were helpful. The only problem was that the room was small and the window was not a window, but opaque opening onto an air shaft - basically a windowless room. We found this hotel to be excellent in almost all aspects - super front desk and terrace service people, very nice rooms with great bathrooms, quiet even though on the Gran Via, good breakfast which was reasonably priced. The only con is that smoking is allowed and the hallways can be filled with smoking odors.

Its our second stay at Hotel Atlantico. We were very satisfied in each and every parameter. Lovely rooms, great service, wonderful location. We will continue to recommend this Hotel .

Best Western Atlantico in Madrid Spain was an excellent hotel. Central to many of Madrid's best attractions. Excellent buffet breakfast as well as a fine roof top terrace to relax after a busy day or night with a glass of wine.
