Best Western Plus Inn By The Sea - La Jolla

Second time my wife & I stayed there. It's convienent to the La Jolla 1/2 Marathon. Staff is very pleasant & helpful. Room is spacious. Downside is we couldn't turn of air condintioner at this time of year..got kind of stuffy. Opened sliding glass door but got loud with people yelling around 2:00 AM. We had north side room this year. Last year had south […] side room. We will return next year..but will insist on south room. Les mer

Overall the hotel was good. The rooms are a little older, and could use a refresh. We stayed on the penthouse floor. Not all the rooms have a great ocean view. One more down and and we would have been looking at a building. Ask for rooms on the right end. Also, they are building a restaurant right at the base of the hotel that opens May 1st. If you […] are on the ocean side you are going to have the smells from the exhaust hood coming right into your room. Be aware. I really enjoyed this stay with my children. Its definitely a hotel for those who have children. My kids were in heaven with their abundance of new friends and pool. I enjoyed the close shopping and beach...all in walking distance.

Great stay- location is beautiful. Even on street side, we had a view from our balcony. (Also some work noise in the morning). Breakfast was not great, but adequate for a quick bite. Very satisfying breakfast and clean/neat room! It was really pleasure to stay here. However, parking is not free! that is a little booboo that I didn't like. But other than that, the beds are really comfortable and service was really great.

It was in a wonderful location in La Jolla and very close to beach. Continental breakfast was nice addition. However, the biggest complaint is that since we were at the hotel during months typically cold, we we not able to adjust the temperature. It was very warm and the room was hot as only heat was set. When we called the front desk, they stated that […] we couldn't turn on the air , but they. could provide a fan. Other guests also mentioned at breakfast how hot it was in the room and many of us left the doors open. Additionally free wifi was horrible, although there was a laptop in the lobby. Pcs had on and off wifi, but iPads and iPods could not pick up any wifi. In contrast, it was really nice to be able to walk to dinner and the beach. The restaurants in the hotel were pricey however. Overall, I am neutral about recommending this place. If it were not a unseasonably hot period, the room temperature would not have been a problem. Good value for price and location in this area. Great location, close to the cove and all the shops. Loved that we were within walking distance to everything. I will definately come back soon.

Of course, it has a lot to do with the fact that the hotel is in downtown La Jolla. I will stay here again!

I was on the 5th floor and had a great view of the ocean from my balcony. It was a super nice environment and I enjoyed the whole experience. But as a negative, you have to pay for parking.

This hotel was great. However, I just wish we hadn't had to pay to park onsite.

Overall, loved it, especially for the price in such a cool place as La Jolla. Great beaches and restaurants are just a short walk away. Parking is $12 at the motel, but you can find free parking on the streets if you have a modicum of patience and luck. Only issue was the air conditioning only works if the temp is above 62 outside temp, so we had to […] leave our balcony door open at night, which was not a pick problem but often and on with you hear a few night time noises. The locations is best. Lobby is great contemporary design. But the rooms are decorated with sixties theme. Our room did not have microwave or fridge, which is almost a given nowadays. Breakfast was great, although to get to breakfast area you had to go outside by the pool and then enter the breakfast area. Although not a big deal, it is a bit annoying […] when its raining. I am often leery at booking Best Westerns because they are a hit or miss. Because I wanted to be within walking distance to everything, I went for it. Reviews online were mixed, so I had no idea what to expect. What I got was a very pleasant surprise. I had a good stay at the BW in La Jolla. Great location, easy walk to pubs and restaurants. Surprised to find that the hotel charges $12 per day for parking. No mention on the Hotels.com site. This changes the cost/value you thinks you are getting when shopping for a room.

There is absolutely no need to spend a ton of money to stay at the fancier hotels in La Jolla because The Best Western exceeded all of my expectations. The location is right in the heart of La Jolla - 2 blocks from the beach and steps from fabulous restaurants, bars and shopping. The hotel itself is really nice, great views of the ocean and hills from […] the balcony, an beautiful lobby with newspapers and apples to munch on, coffee in the afternoon. The rooms are large and very comfortable and up to date, nice bathrooms. The continental breakfast is quite good, served right next to the pool, and the entire staff was very kind and welcoming. a solid Best Western hotel - clean, affordable and comfortable. Is an excellent choice when visiting La Jolla - easy walking to beach, shopping and restaurants. The local artwork on the walls was a nice touch

Great location, nice hotel design, clean rooms, adequate breakfast, BUT plumbing noise was bad in our room (at the west end). Water hammer noise at 5 AM woke me every night - maybe it was the washing machine? Every neighbor showering was audible, too (the water flow, not the neighbor).

A very nice hotel in a great location but the heating system is greatly lacking and we never did get any heat in our room - so come in late and cover up!. Otherwise, it is a great little place to stay, close to all with an efficient staff

It's in a good location. You can walk to a lot of restaurants and shops in La Jolla and I think to the beach. Parking is available. Continental breakfast is pretty good.

For the price , the sty was fine. My only complaint was my baby son needed to have formula and milk for his bottle and most of the rooms do not have microwaves in them. Very disappointed being that this hotel is in the heart of La jolla and in an area like this , one would think that that would be an automatic amenity for the rooms. I had to go down […] stairs with a glass of milk and ask someone at the front desk to use there microwave. They had to call a worker to take to the breakfast room by the pool just to heat up some milk. Big inconvenience for me and my family. Plus , small refridgerators are only available upon request. This along with microwaves should be a standard in the rooms. Les mer

I do not know why this hotel has only been given 2.5 stars. It's at least a 4-star hotel. Very clean, nicely decorated, good service, good location (two blocks from the ocean - La Jolla Cove, where you can see sea lions and search for other forms of sea life). We had a good experience with BW in La Jolla. The hotel was clean, the clerks were cordial, not overly friendly, just seemed young. The room was nice, blow dryer, iron and board, etc. all there. They put us on the top floor ocean side without us asking, which I can see is a big plus. Other side you have a view of the parking lot. Nice balconies, good […] pool, no jacuzzi, good complimentary bkfast, all pastries, fruit, cereal, omelets (egh), waffle sticks, sausages, better than most freebies I've seen. Awesome location, right downtown, close to everything. Parking was no problem for us, but the smaller your car the better. Don't use your car, there is NO parking downtown or at beaches. Our stay was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast food was very good and the attendants made sure there was always an ample supply of all of the food and drink items. We were a bit put off by the $12.00 per day charge for parking, some of which was in an alley behind the hotel.

Only complaint was that the hi-speed internet service was very slow & sometimes didnt even work. They should get a different server.

Nice hotel and location for price. Parking is a problem though, stall too small and if you arrive after 8pm at nigth, chances are you will need to park at the alternate underground garage across the street - which is convienent to get to but you must move your car by 9am on weekdays. Hotel says recent upgrade but only the lobby still looks upgraded, […] rooms and hallway look like they need some work, especailly in the sink and bathroom. My biggest issue was that though I was ugraded to a room with a partial ocean view, the room across from mine was under construction and the work began at 8am Monday morning> The drilling noise was rather loud. Mentioned to lady at front desk but she shrugged it off. Would recommend hotel but suggest you ask not to be placed next to a room/floor that is being renovated. Les mer

We loved it there.. had a great time! The Hotel was very conveniently located for us. Nice, comfortable beds too.

Great value in the heart of La Jolla. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, the beach. Highly recommend for families. Not posh, but clean and comfortable, and convenient.

Great hotel within walking distance to most shops in La Jolla. Just a few minutes drive to UCSD.
