We were a couple of friends on a roadtrip in Ireland. We choose this hotel for an overnight in Cork. The hotel is a charming, old building. This is not a high class, fashionable hotel, but has it charm through the historic building. The room was clean and it was possible to keep the window open at night. We had some issues with cold and hot water in […] the shower - either the shower were too warm or too cold, but it was possible to endure this. The building is historic and parts of the hotel might need some refurbishment, but on the other hand this is also part of the charm. The hotel is located approx 10 - 15 minutes walk from the city centre and the sourrounding area looked nice. We found it nice that the hotel was located in such a nice and calm area. The stroll downtown was nice and gave some additional impressions of the city. The hotel had complimentary parking and even if we arrived late - there were parking available. This was something we appriciated a lot. We did not have breakfast included in our deal, but we bought breakfast on site. It was possible to order irish breakfast or have a continental one. The breakfast buffet was unfortunately not the most impressive. The overall impression was good and we found it charming to live in such a historic building. We can recommend this hotel. Les mer

All in all a very nice place and good value, friendly people and I was lucky to get a very large double room, could have slept 6! Not brand new but then that gives it more of a traditional feel. Just need to get a decent flat screen TV in the room, would very much stay again for the money

This is a nice hotel but it is in need of refurbishment and modernisation. Clean and warm and the staff were all great. Good value as well. Wifi didn't reach the room and the lift didn't work either, but wifi did work in reception and the bistro. Plenty of parking as well

The hotel is high on the hill to the north of the city and if you have a front facing room the veiw over Cork is worth it. Most rooms don't benifit from this. The walk into town is'nt far and all down hill, its the return that may chalange some.The hotel its self, has a grand feel but has seen better days. The bar is very bassic the food just Ok, but […] the service particularly at breakfast is very good. We had a bit of a disaster in the room on arrival(plumbing malfunction) which ment a change of room, this was handled very well. I would stay again as my stay was one night for business. A steep hill to navigate to get to hotel. May be a problem for an older person. Close enough to city centre to walk. Room was very spacious with lovely deep bath and loads of hot water. Lift was out of order and they offered to move me to first floor from the third. Loads to eat for breakfast and there was no hesitation in offering seconds if wanted. […] I enjoyed my stay. Les mer

Very happy with room comfort and cleanliness. Reception staff very welcoming and helpful. Long walk to city centre but it was great to have ample parking there.

Awesome hotel. Super clean. Large room. Helpful, friendly staff. Great food, nicely decorated. April at the front desk was great. Suggestion: Alarm clock. Hotel is on a huge steep hill. Not an easy walk.

This hotel was just OK. Its was far enough from the city that it was quiet but close enough to walk which was nice, other than that it wasn't great. Our phone was broken, no hair dryer as stated and no staff after 9pm.

very good. because of our age we had to taxi to town, which added to cost of stay. but younger people would find it no trouble to walk to the centre. Breakfast excellent. The staff were not too hospitable. But overall we would go back to this hotel if we went back to Cork.

This hotel is conveniently situated close to the city centre. The décor is a bit dated but the staff-especially at reception - couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful to us. There is plenty of secure parking which is free to guests.Our room was spotless. It was a pleasure staying here and we will definitely be back

the rooms were really in a very bad condition.I was moved a number of times.The first room didn't have any heating,the second room I was moved to smelled, the window didn't close and when I tried to take a shower the water came through the ceiling!!! The third room was better but not a four star standard.The wallpaper was coming off the walls and the […] bathroom needs a revamp. This hotel shouldnot be advertised as a 4 Star. Les mer

very welcoming at reception ,got to room and everything was ready ,room cleaned every day to a high standard ,when we needed extra milk and coffee ,it was brought to our room ,with a plesent smile , the night porter was very nice ,and nothing was to much trouble for him ,check out was very efficient and quick ,all in all we had a very nice second stay […] ,and hope to return again next year . Lovely greeting from staff, given key cards and directed to where our room was. Recommend the stairs if you aren't keen on lifts as it appeared a bit old and rickety! This wasn't a problem for us though. Pleasant enough decor, sheets changed daily and coffee, tea sugar replenished. Lovely large bathroom, sofa in the room which was nice to watch a bit […] of tele on before going to bed! Found the bed very big and comfy! =) Good location for just dropping down into cork city centre. Hotel is on a hill, but this wasn't a problem for us. Overall enjoyed the stay. Walls could have done with a wipe down from a few scuffs, but that's just me being picky! Les mer

Old style hotel with high ceilings and wide corridors. Lights in bathroom took about 10 seconds to come on is my only serious complaint. Easy walk into town but a tough walk back for some as all up a steep hill. Very pleasant staff. Would stay again

I was impressed by this hotel. It was clean, quiet, and just lovely. Easy to find with the help of gps. Parking was not a problem. Had dinner at the restaurant both nights of our stay and it was fantastic both the food and the service. Front desk staff was helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Decor in need of an update. Otherwise, staff as friendly and helpful. Just in case you're interested in using the gym, be prepared with a jacket. The room was super cold!

This was my 2nd stay in this hotel in the last 5 weeks, and l would highly recommend it to anyone. The hotel is in a perfect location for a visit to Cork city, it is a 10 minute walk to the shopping centre of Cork, yet it is in the beautiful village athmosphere of st Lukes Cross. The hotel is a beautiful old building with lots of period features, it […] is spotlessley clean and warm, which l was very greatfull for in the cold weather of December and January. The staff are very friendly and helpfull and couldnt make you feel more welcome. The food in the restraunt is excellent and very good value for money. l could not ask for more from a hotel and it made my visits to Cork City very enjoyable. l plan to visit Cork City regularly and would not dream of staying at any other hotel other than the Ambassador. stayed here one night ..... the welcome we got from the girl with glasses n black hair was warm while we waited for a taxi she was not afraid to stop working and interact with us in any way top marks to her and even when we were leaving she could not have been helpfull enough.... we had food in the bar there was a function on but one bar man for guest […] and a demanding party of guests at function... he was a small blond guy with glasses he was very nice to us our food was a bit slow as i think it was he could not get time to pick it up from the kitchen as the function kept him busy but he said sorry when arrived and attended to us as needed the food was i must say lovely i had brie and the blt n chips it was very good my guest had soup and burger it also was tasty.... there was a tall guy i guess the D.M that was in and out of the bar once but Failed to help in the bar which i thought was a bit off putting.... never the less i would come back again ...... and i wish them all the best .... my advice maybe if ye had a waiter and a bar man as the glasses were pilling up on the poor guy in the bar and the duty manager failed to pick up a glass from tables when he clearly saw how busy he was..... My brother and me stayed at the ambassador hotel for 4 night, our time in the hotel was very nice the room we had was massive with a 10 ft window overlooking cork city such an amazing sight in the morning. Great choice of food and drink and also different places to eat from a nice restaurant to a relaxed bar. Staff where very helpful and attentive and […] they must work amazingly hard as the same staff seem to be there all the time morning noon and night. Would highly recommend staying at the ambassador I will most definetly be returning probably with my wife next time so that she can make the most of cork city shopping. Les mer

Married couple from Kilkenny. Had afternoon business in Cork, Booked Ambassador Hotel for overnight stay. We found our stay there to be a very pleasant experience. The staff were most friendly and helpful. Our room had a balcony, with amazing vista. We would recommend this hotel very much, we will definitely be returning in the near future

This was our third stay at the ambassador we absolutely love this hotel the staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble the beds are comfortable and the rooms very clean. The Irish breakfasts and the rest of the food served in the hotel is excellent and plenty of it. the only negative comment would be that the decor could do with a bit […] if a makeover it is a littie tired looking but other than that it is a comfortable cosy and very welcoming place to spend a few nights in the heart of Cork City Les mer

Welcoming atmosphere, daughter appreciated a 'smoking' room, food was good. A bit further out of the centre than I expected (or maybe we read the map wrong!!) Car struggled n the steep hill.

We had difficulty finding the hotel - we missed the signpost, perhaps it could be more prominent coming in from the Dublin Road. The staff at the reception desk were more than helpful in giving directions etc.. Our room was very big and spacious, but the handbasin in the bathroom was cracked and the paint on the bathroom door was flaking - small details […] - but it is a four star hotel. The cooked breakfast was good - freshly cooked, but little packets of breakfast cereals and a limited selection on breads - no croissants left at 9 a.m., took away a bit from the dining experience. Reception staff excellent. parking great. Evening meal very good and reasonably priced.Didn't have breakfast as the buffet appeared sparse and we hadn't been served after waiting quite a while.
