This was a wonderful alternative to the large chain hotels on the Riverwalk. The staff was awesome and the historic building was very well maintained. The complementary morning breakfast helps get your day started right. A fun place if you like a historic hotel-bed and breakfast. three blocks from the Alamo and across the street from the river-walk restaurants. Historic building turned into a fine hotel.

Great Personnel and great service. B&B feel right by the Riverwalk. You may want to ask for a room facing the Riverwalk, ours was on the Alamo Street side.

My wife and I loved it. The room was small and cousy. It had a beautiful view but you can here the cars threw the windows. The cleaningness of the room made us feel at home and the free moring breakfast was deliciouse. The parking was akward, you park away from the hotel for 12 a day. Parking was not to bad though because the river walk was close bye […] so we never drove our car from the garage. I would recommend this hotel. Les mer

Didn't like the street noise and homeless people outside the door, but overall nice well run hotel.

This hotel lived up to its description on the website and more. The staff was extremely welcoming, showing me right to my room which had nice guitar music playing. The breakfast was fantastic, and complimentary wine a nice way to unwind after a long day. The location couldn't be any better for seeing the sights of S.A. and being right by the convention […] center The rooms are very comfortable with modern touches while still having the old feel of the historic hotel. Just needed one night near the Riverwalk for business. What a great find the Riverwalk Vista was for me. You won't think much of it from the outside but once you're in you'll be hooked. Great staff, well appointed rooms with character where it counts and a perfectly satisfying breakfast. Small, intimate and close to everything you want to be close to. […] I would highly recommend this property to anyone going to SAT. First, you must know that the parking is offsite. It's within walking distance and the cost is $12 for 24 hours and no in and out privileges. The swimming pool they have pictured is also offsite and I'm not sure where it's located because I was too tired, from walking to and from the parking garage, to ask. Secondly, this place is more of a "bed n […] breakfast". I have privacy issues and it was not private enough for me. The hotel is nice and clean but the room was more like someone's bedroom. Thirdly, the breakfast was absolutely horrible. The only tasty edible was the muffins, cookies and cereal. It was right across the street from the Riverwalk but several blocks away from the Market Square. San Antonio has several running trolleys running so don't be too concerned with choosing a hotel that wasn't so close to the area attractions. Les mer

The Riverwalk Vista was our sanctuary in the heart of San Antonio. Here you will experience the 'real deal' character, design and ambience in building dating back to the 1880's. A hotel not to be missed!

The location is really nice. You can go to the riverwalk in a few minutes.

It's really hard to decide whether to give this hotel a thumbs up or thumbs down because there are things in both camps. We'll go with the thumbs down first... it is NOISY. I stayed on the "quieter" side of the hotel but there was traffic and bus noises pretty much constantly. One night, a group of teenagers decided to hang out at the bus stop just […] outside my window (I stayed on 2nd floor). They were talking / laughing and riding their skateboard until 12:30am. Within the room, the air conditioner is also noisy... not obscene loud but definitely not quiet enough for you to fall asleep. My room had 3 lamps, which is too dark for me. But when I open the curtain, people on the street can look directly into my room. I have suggested to the hotel to perhaps install sheer curtain so that the light can come through while preserving privacy. There is a McDonald's right downstairs, with groups of homeless / semi-homeless people just hanging out right next to the door of the hotel. The thumbs up... location can't be beat. It is very close to the convention center (reason for my stay) and it is just next to the riverwalk where the busiest restaurants are and where people seem to gather. It's close to the Alamo and the Riverwalk center shopping mall. The character of the hotel is great, old and charming. The breakfast was excellent and the coffee is the best that I've had in a long, long time. The staff is very helpful and polite. All in all, I think it's a decent hotel. For the price, I was expecting a little more. Les mer

This hotel/bed and breakfast is in a perfect location to enjoy the Riverwalk and sights of San Antonio. It has a great feel to it. The exposed brick walls, the high ceilings and antiques all add to the ambiance. The rooms are nicely furnished with antiques and a comfortable bed. And don't forget the goldfish in every room, the teddy bear on the bed […] and the rubber ducky in the shower! Breakfast was a plus with quiche one day and empanadas another. Then there was the lemonade and cookies in the afternoon. THEN there was WINE at five! The girls at the desk were very helpful with answers to questions about local attractions and found us a church with Mass nearby. When you first see the hotel above the McDonalds, you wonder but once you are up the elevator to the third floor you know that its a great place to stay! Les mer

This place is fantastic. So glad we opted to stay there rather than one of the more expensive chain hotels. Everything was perfect. Our room was beautiful and there has been incredible attention to detail. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in some great places on our Texas road trip and I think this hotel ticks more boxes than […] any other. You will not be disappointed. I've never been moved to write a hotel review before, and I'm a very fussy person. Les mer

We read about the Riverwalk Vista on Hotels.com and just couldn't pass up the opportunity for a quaint hotel ON the riverwalk. Plus, it was well rated by every other review on hotels.com. It really is that awesome -- from the bear on the bed, to the rubber duckie in the shower to the fish on the desk. Cool place. Great location. You really couldn't […] ask for a better place. We'll definitely stay there the next time we're in San Antonio....but we'll also make sure that next time doesn't happen when it's 95 degrees outside. Boy was it hot to these Midwesterners! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Riverwalk Vista. It's a beautiful hotel that is a break from the typical change. Very friendly staff and relaxing environment. Only negative was that is little noisy from 10:00-11:00 at night from traffic outside, but that is expected at hotel that close to Riverwalk. Close to the riverwalk and all of the popular conference venues. Historical building with modern touches to the rooms. Excellent for someone who wants a change of pace from mainstream hotels or couples looking for a room that feels secluded even though it is still walking distance from restaurants and sights.

Fabulous continental breakfast, quiet rooms, one block away from the center of the Riverwalk. Great place to stay for a romantic night!

We had a wonderful stay at the Riverwalk Vista. There were personal touches such as a goldfish in a bowl on the desk, a teddy bear on the bed and a rubber duck in the shower. The room was full of character but also very clean and tidy. We enjoyed free freshly baked cookies each afternoon, free wine service every evening and a quality breakfast buffet […] in the mornings. The location was fantastic, right across the street from the lively Riverwalk, a block or two from the Alamo and an easy walk to the shopping at El Mercado (The Market) and La Villita. The historic homes in the King William neighborhood was also just a short walk away. The Riverwalk had a great buzz even though we were there on Monday and Tuesday nights but we didn't notice any noise from the street when we were back in our room at night. The supplied white noise machine may have helped with that. In all we would recommend the place - especially for a romantic getaway! Les mer

This hotel was comfortable and felt very safe. However, ask to stay on the Riverwalk side. It's a little quieter. Our room was above a bus stop so it was a little noisy. All in all, the location is great and this hotel has a cozy B & B feel to it. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. This was a great place to stay. Very comfortable, the staff was very helpful. I had to leave for meetings before breakfast was ready, but each morning I was able to get a banana and a slice of the apple bread- which was excellent. Great service.

This old hotel has a lot of character. It only has 17 rooms, all of which are huge. The staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly. We enjoyed our stay immensely, from the room, to the nightly wine, to the morning breakfast, to the area which was right across the street from the Riverwalk in San Antonio. If you compare a run-of-the-mill hotel around San Antonio's riverwalk to the Riverwalk Vista Hotel: the prices are the same, the location is about the same, but the Riverwalk Vista hotel has character. The room was comfortable, the shower was WONDERFUL, and the breakfast had flavor. A perfect stay for weekend get-away.

Riverwalk Vista was great - fabulous location for visiting the riverwalk, great service, good breakfast, nice room. Free library of classic movies and mini fridge in the room were nice touches, and the pack-n-play available to rent and bag of toys to borrow were great for our little one!

Everything was really nice at the hotel. Breakfast is hard boiled eggs, bagels, English muffins, fruits, cereals, milk, juice, coffee, and a hot entree that changes every morning. There is a keypad entry to the hotel, so only guests are able to enter at all. This is a nice security feature. The staff is very limited, so no one is going to carry your […] bags up to your room. Also, they don't always answer the phones, but they do return your calls immediately if you leave a message. The rooms have a rustic feel with modern touches, especially in the bathroom. It's a very peaceful hotel as there are few guests compared to large chain hotels. I would stay here again Les mer

The Riverwalk Vista was such an awesome hotel!! My boyfriend and I went on a romantic getaway for a weekend. We both enjoyed our stay! The service was excellent! The location was perfect!! I would stay there again!!

Great room, great location, great staff, great breakfast.

The Riverwalk Vista is a small Inn (17 rooms), but charming in it's antiques, hard wood floors, brick walls, but tiled bathroom and comfy beds. They serve a nice breakfast, that comes with the room rate, cookies at 3 and wine every evening at 5 (all free). There is always fresh fruit available as well. They had nice bathrobes available in the rooms […] as well. This is centrally located to the Riverwalk, an easy walk to the convention center and to the other major hotels (Hyatt Grand, Regency, Hilton and Marriott). My air conditioner worked so well, I had to turn it off at times, and there is street noise, but they provide white noise machines that really did the trick (I had a friend staying at one of the big hotels and they also complained of the street noise, but they didn't have a white noise machine.) If you want something different, quaint and warm, I would recommend this hotel. Les mer

This is a great historic hotel with lots of character. Loved the high ceilings in the rooms. The cookies and wine in the evening were great for relaxation after a day out on the town. The location is close to most anything you'd want to see in the downtown area and within walking distance of the Riverwalk, the Alamo, many restaurants, etc.

Great place, especially for the price. I went with my wife and found that it was ideal for couples. Very private, you feel like you're the only people there. You're right in the heart of downtown but feel like you're in a little B&B. Breakfast did not blow me away but I enjoyed it. It is not really right on the riverwalk. It's a block away and you can […] only see the riverwalk from part of the building. Also you have to pay to park in a garage a block or two away. But atmosphere and the experience is great. The rooms are small but they have high ceilings. We fell in love with this place and will definitely stay there next time we take a trip to SA Les mer

The staff was incredibly friendly and the whole atmosphere was so comfortable.

The rooms and lobby were awesome. They were some of the best maintained rooms we have stayed in. A great price thru hotels.com but the parking/ unloading was a big problem. We had to unload in the lane of traffic with cars honking and shooting the bird! We parked in a lot 2 blocks away ($12 a day) and when we got ready to leave I had drama with a parking […] enforcment agent who thought I should lug my bags down the street to the loading area of another hotel, Bet all in all it was a good time. We stayed at the Riverwalk vista for our Honeymoon. It is just across the street from acess to the riverwalk which gave us great access to shops and resteraunts. The rooms are all decorated in a modern contemporary fasion which was really cool and we were very comfortable there. This was our first trip to the Riverwalk and part of the atmosphere was the awesome Riverwalk Vista. The location was great, the rooms and service had a bed and breakfast atmosphere that we loved. Great location, right across the street from the riverwalk. (I could look down onto Casa Rio's colorful table unbrella's from my window.) The bed was not as good as home, but still MUCH better than any other hotel I've ever stayed in. Air conditioner worked well, and the shower was awesome. When I arrived, a staff member helped me carry my bag up their stairs and took it to my room while I parked. When I got to my room, they had complimentary water in the fridge...and a GREAT view! You can see the Riverwalk from the room. Breakfast was also fantastic. This feels like a home away from home.

The Riverwalk Vista was such a cute hotel. There were so many little details that you do not see at a larger hotel, such as afternoon cookies and a real hair dryer as opposed to the useless wall mount dryers you typically see in a hotel. Location was super sweet... Has a B&B feel to it.. very plush and charming.. If you are going to san antonio, i highly recommend this hotel..

This hotel has an excellent location. It is close to everything downtown. We walked everywhere and only took the car out of the garage to see the missions. The atmosphere was very relaxing. I even took advantage of one of the living areas.

My overall stay at The Riverwalk Vista was great. The room's furnishings were a welcome change from the "chain" hotels...and the fish was an appreciated added touch. This is the perfect vacation hotel. You can't find a better location in downtown San Antonio: on the river and a 5 minute walk to the Convention Center. I will say, however, that I would […] not recommend this hotel for business travelers as the lighting in the rooms was very poor, breakfast doesn't begin until 8, and there are no business or fitness centers. Additionally, the hotel has minimum staff and I felt alone at times. Not a big deal as I am a self-sufficient traveler, but I called the front desk a few times and was greeted by voicemail. Riverwalk Vista was such a very unique hotel! It was so different from your "ordinary" hotels. It has such style and character! Everything was wonderful...the room, the atmosphere, the food, the service, the location. I especially loved the added bonuses like the fresh squeezed lemondade and warm fresh baked cookies in the afternoon and the teddy bear […] on the bed and the rubber ducky in the shower! I just can't say enough good things about it! Also, just a heads up... the most convenient parking garage is across from the hotel on Commerce Street. It's very tall, hard to miss. My husband and I stayed at the Riverwalk Vista for 3 nights in June and loved it. This historic building used to be a mercantile and has been tastefully remodeled into a unique hotel. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, calling around for the best rates on rental cars and completing our online check-in for our return flight the night before […] we left. The hotel is charming, service was great. We went to the Majestic Theater to see Wicked. Everything was within walking distance. Did the Riverwalk and Alamo. Never took the car out of the garage. Perfect relaxing weekend.
