Nice rooms. We stayed for two nights which was more then enough at this hotel. Breakfast was bad.

Helt ok hotell med hyggelig personale. Kjekt med en enkel frokost inkludert, noe som ikke er så vanlig i USA. Litt langt å gå til sentrum med restaruranter og butikker, men mer sentrumsnære hoteller er også dyrere.

Hotellet lå litt for langt unna State Street og dermed også alle restauranter, barer og spisesteder. Stranden var i umiddelbar nærhet. Hotellet var ellers ok, men det anbefales IKKE å betale for frokost. Anbefaler hotellet til de som ikke setter beliggenhet på topp. Det tok ca 20 minutter å gå til sentrum (2 minutter til stranden). We really enjoyed our stay. The room was large, clean and quiet. The only problem was the shower. The shower curtin rod was installed wrong so the curtin stayed in the center of the shower creating a water hazard in the bathroom. Nice breaksfast too.

I don't know what I was thinking, I forgot how expensive hotels in SB are. The pillows were horrendous, like a bag of styrofoam marble size balls. The people who ran the hotel were nice. The lighting was poor so if you plan on doing any reading or work bring your own lamp.

A great sense of fun and style and waffles in the morning to boot.

This hotel is a solid 3 star. It is clean but the towels and such are small and thin. No closet for clothes and poorly placed coffee machine. The continental breakfast was just ok - a better quality of coffee would improve the breakfast. The manager was very nice and accomadating. The pool and jacuzzi are a plus.

I was pleasantly surprised how romantic our weekend turned out staying at Avania Hotel. Small rooms, but cute decor. Breakfast was great. yummy waffles! Younger crowd will enjoy. Not lots of frills, but who cares! We got there early & was allowed an early check-in, which was appreciated. Loved the stroll to & from the beach & pier. We had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Avania. It was close to the harbor and to downtown on a quiet street across from a big park. We rode our bikes and walked everywhere. The staff was very friendly, the room was nicely decorated and clean, and the included breakfast was ample. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Santa Barbara […] . Les mer

Hotel is in a good location, rooms are OK, breakfast is provided but minimal, it's been remodel but is on the tacky retro side. Staff was friendly...we weren't spending much time there so it was OK. Nothing special.

No-nonsense nice hotel. Large and clean room for very reasonable price. About 10 minute walk to downtown Santa Barbara. Nice staff.

overall we were very satisfied with the accommodation for the price we paid. for some reason i was sure that this hotel would be a walking distance to the pier and all the restaurants but it's a bit far to walk (about 20 min) the hotel was very clean, the staff was nice and overall it was 100%

Clean, no-frills hotel. Recent remodel. Convenient central downtown, beach, and freeway-close location. Staff was courteous. A limited, i.e., weak, breakfast was included. Parking lot appeared secure. Good value for a quick business trip.

Close to the beach, the free wifi and breakfast but that's about it. The front desk indian lady is terrible the hotel was kind of updated but not as classy as they intended.

With respect to the Bang for Buck, this is a great place. Can walk to restaurants and the beach for a good price. Just down the street, the hotel prices are double. It isn't the nicest hotel, but they have upgraded the rooms, perhaps the bathrooms should be done next but I am quite low maintenance so no big deal to me. Can't go wrong for the bang […] for buck! We stayed there two different nights. We trouble with the thermostat and reported it on ckout. I suspect they will correct the problem. They do a good job. We had stayed there previously and returned.

I was impressed with this hotel. We had a very large room which was tastefully decorated, There was a large bath with good water pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water. It was very quiet - no traffic noise and our room had a nice view of Santa Barbara hills. The bar around the corner does great steaks at a great price plus live music! You don't stay here for the luxury. It is affordable, clean, and relatively convenient to downtown (15 minute walk).

Although room seemed clean the hotel seemed dated and somewhat old especially on the outside. Breakfast somewhat limited choices but acceptable.

This hotel was within walking distance of everything. It was clean and quiet and reasonable. Room was small, but loved the color scheme and the tall shower made my 6'2" hubby very happy. Chairs were beautiful and soft leather but not a very comfy design.

We needed to check in late at 11pm and we called I make sure that the front desk was aware. When we got there, we rang the doorbell and checked in within a minute. The room on the second floor was a lot better than I thought. Everything was pretty clean, but you could tell from the walls and corners that it was somewhat outdated. There was a microwave […] and refrigerator, which was nice. The bathroom was usable but not anything special. We made sure to get breakfast before they closed. I liked the waffles, but the scones weren't very good. We only needed a place to stay for one night, and Avania Inn was a great place. Would return if only staying for 1 or 2 nights, especially if you're spending most of your time outdoors anyway. Les mer

An easy walk to the beach and State St.

this hotel was perfect for us. simple, clean and great location. We just stayed for one night after a wedding. It is by no means "luxury", but we really enjoyed it. It had everything we needed... pool, spa, cozy beds, coffee maker, microwave, blowdryer.... Breakfast was great!!! not the friendliest concierge, but who really cares? The hotel was older but our room was inviting and clean. The location was within walking distance of the shops. Good breakfast selection.

This place is "fine" if you just need somewhere to stay for a night or two. The walls and ceilings are paper thin so you can hear loud and clear if the person upstairs from you gets out of bed in the middle of the night. The rooms were clean though and you're close to the beach. It all depends on what you're willing to pay for.

When my friend and I decided to go to SB for the Labor Day weekend, we knew that hotels would be more expensive. We decided to bite the bullet and stay at the Avania (an upper mid-range price option) after reading all the very positive reviews. The hotel definitely lived up to the reviews in almost all respects. The hotel was extremely clean, the pool […] and jacuzzi were beautiful, the room was nice and very well kept, the continental breakfast is by far the best I've ever had (fresh squeezed orange juice!) and the location is absolutely perfect. The only issue I had was that when I called for towels, I was told I could have extra but that I needed to go down and get them. Now, generally this wouldn't bother me. However, considering the price I paid to stay there the towels should have been brought up. I've paid a lot less for hotels and had things brought up to my room. That is the basis of giving an overall rating of 3 instead of 4. I weigh customer service a lot heavier than conditions of the premises. Les mer

Overall a okay hotel. Rooms were clean and pleasant. Definitely not worth the price. In the future I will be looking into the other nearby hotels.

I have two issues with this hotel: (1) that they did not give back an expensive jacket that I left behind in my room there...(2) that they tried to one-up me a good chunk of money for a room that had two beds for me and my brother, when they admittedly had a room with 2 beds available for that night, they do not have cots available, they saw that the […] two of us were 6'5" guys...btw of course there is no way I would have reserved the two of us a single bed but I could not prove it. The Avania Inn is a clean, comfortable small Inn, close to the Santa Barbara harbor with it's great restaurants and also with in walking distance of the beaches. Our room was clean and comfortable and the price was reasonable for the summer season. They serve breakfast with pastries, cereal, waffles etc. free. This was a decent room very close to the beach. The air conditioner was so loud as to cause us to shut if off, though it was hot when we were there. We would stay here again as it was close to everything and not too pricy, but it wa not the most comfortable room ever.

Hotel clerk was not friendly at all. She was very dismissive when I checked in and asked about a possible different room than the one I was given. She had the same attitude when I checked out. Not even a "Have a nice day!" "Enjoy your stay!" No sound protection in the rooms--I could hear people walk in and out in the evenings and in the early mornings. […] I'd definitely advise going to another hotel! Les mer

Nicely renovated hotel in Santa Barbara. Good selection for complimentary breakfast. Close by to many sights. This hotel can pass to a higher 4 star rating if it completes some more renovations, like newer bathroom sliding door and fixing the hand towel rack.

inexpensive,clean room and easy 5 block walk to Stearn's Wharf. Nice continental breakfast from 7-10:30.

Definitely and easy check-in and check-out process, the room was nicely sized and decent overall. Walls are pretty thin though and the guest lobby area smells like ethnic food.
