Marks Hotel - Glasgow

3 netter på Marks hotell med 2 små barn. Stort og flott rom, men manglende air-condition trekker ned ganske mye. Spesielt når støynivået utenfor nærmest gjør det umulig å sove med åpent vindu. Vi bodde i 1.etg, med rom mot en bakgate fylt med containere, og opplevde mye støy fra søppeltømming, samt å få røyk inn på rommet pga av at sidegaten tydeligvis […] ble brukt til røykepauser.. Veldig grei frokost med bla eggerøre(pulver), bacon, pølse, tomatbønner, tomat, sopp, toast etc, og flott beliggenhet for shopping i Glasgow. Men skulle jeg besøkt Glasgow igjen ville jeg nok sett meg om etter et hotell med air condition hvis en først skal bo så sentralt (for å unngå noe av støyen utenfra). Les mer

Et kjempefint hotel, fin størrelse på både rom og bad. Rom og ganger var rene, og jeg vil påstå noe over "glasgow standard". Heisen er noe liten hvis man reiser med stor barnevogn, ellers er ikke dette noe problem. Beliggenheten er super i forhold til hovedgatene og shopping.GOD SERVICE! Liker ikke tepper på gulvene på rommene. Betjeningen i resepsjonen ikke alltid "på hugget" Værelsesbetjeningen flink.

Bra beliggenhet og hyggelig service. Litt støy fra gaten. Gangavstand til alt.

Excellent location, close to shopping and many restaurants. Everything you need is just a few steps away. Very warm service with a smile, and the room was perfectly clean. Do not have that big hotel chain feeling, very cosy atmosphere, and very good breakfast. This is our second time staying at this hotel, and we will definately go back.

Room furnishings and fittings starting to look a bit old. Wallpaper in the room was enough to give you a headache. Waste bin in the bathroom still had the previous guests waste in it when I checked in. Not great. Ok for one night. I probably wouldnt stay here again. There are plenty of similar priced hotels in Glasgow to choose from.

Close to all amenities and surrounded by numerous top class eating places. Spoilt for choice. Car parking not an issue as Q park within walking distance of hotel. Staff friendly and attentive. Rooms were clean, with furnishings and decor well colour coordinated and pleasing to the eye. Overall, this hotel offers good value for money.

Great location, great staff, great breakfast, but the rooms and the public areas are tired and need a makeover. Promised a superior room and was obviously shown to a bog standard room with tatty wallpaper, cracked sink and not so clean carpet

The location of the hotel is very convenient, but the hotel itself left much to be desired. My room was on the first floor at the front (right on a main street), which meant that it was incredibly loud, even with the windows closed. The second story of the buses looked right into my room as they were waiting at the stoplight at the corner. Also, the […] bed linens did not seem at all clean when I arrived; there were lots of hairs all over the bed linens. From the folds in the sheets it looked like they had been changed, but somehow the washing didn't remove the hairs. The good news is that the staff were always very nice and the location is really convenient. But I'm a sound sleeper and I had to wear ear plugs to be able to sleep, and the hair situation was just alarming. Les mer

Our booking was changed from the Marks to the H I Express. This I believe was unusual. Changed bookings are normally directed to the main holiday Inn,which is connected to the Express Inn. We could not fault the staff, they inhanced our stay. Thier friendly attitude made up for not being booked into the main Holiday Inn.

Very friendly staff. No question or matter was too small for them. Room was comfortable, warm and clean. A definite recommendation.

We arrived early at the hotel and were greeted by extremely friendly staff who advised us that our room was ready for us and throughout our stay we had absolutely no complaints at all and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The Hotel it's self is lovely although I was shocked at how rude the dining staff were. My cousin and I came downstairs in time for breakfast and gave our room number and waited to be seated but the woman at the door did not believe we were guests of the hotel and asked to see out room key, which was not only completely rude,but embarrassing as there […] were people behind us sniggering and they did not get asked for their room card! who in their right mind would just wander in from the street to get breakfast?! Recently returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. We were quickly checked in to our room which was spacious and modern and clean. The hotel is ideally situated in Bath Street, 5 minute walk from Buchanan Galleries. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the surrounding area. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast in the mornings and though the […] hotel was busy the staff worked hard to make sure everyone was served. We also had a pre-theatre supper meal at the hotel one night which was very good value for a three course meal for two which included a bottle of wine. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The location of this hotel is very close to the city centre whilst being in quiet street. There was a good choice of breakfast, both continental and cooked which was served by polite and friendly staff. Unfortunately the rooms were extremely hot, making it difficult to sleep. The garish decor didn't help either!

Marks is central and very reasonable. Rooms are clean and the breakfast buffet is decent.

Only criticism we had was that although the breakfast was lovely it was not very hot at all. Location was perfect for everything. room was fine and cleanliness was excellent. Will definately book again.

Brill location which means convenient to get around

St Mark’s hotel is located in the heart of city centre within walking distance to the major shopping centre and other commonly known high street store and numerous 24 hr small shops. The hotel staffs are polite, friendly and willing to offer advice. The hotel has an array of restaurants, but evening meals can be considerably pricey so be aware, but […] there are others which are reasonably priced and good food. The rooms are basic with the exception of the Superior Rooms but they come with a price tag to match nevertheless rooms are clean, tidy and basically furnished with Tea & Coffee facilities and the added bonus of Wi-Fi. The major downside is the rooms don’t have any air conditioning or mini safe and those at the rear of the hotel have the added nuisance of the air conditioning units of adjacent buildings not ideal if you want to sleep windows ajar for cool air. A number of the guest like us mentioned non-functioning extractor fans in the bathrooms and signs of mould a consequence, but this should not detract you from staying there. The breakfast selection is fairly acceptable, but the bar is slightly on the expensive side, walking around you’ll find a number of pubs some with an extensive range of whiskeys, idea if you are found of this beverage or want to try them out. A another major drawback is parking and you are effectively forced to use the adjacent multi story secure car park, which although discounted for guests of the hotel for a week’s stay you are stung for considerable amount. The car parking fiasco is not mentioned anywhere so be prepared. The overall experience is that the hotel represents value for money, in a central location and within easy reach of the motorway, it not 4* but fairly close. Les mer

Great setting for the centre of Glasgow, stayed during the Take That concerts, bus stop on Renfield street, which is the street next to hotel, had express buses going directly to Hampden. The two guys on reception when we arrived were first class, really friendly and welcoming.

In The Marks you couldn't get closer to the shops, from our window on the 7th floor you could literally see Buchanan Galleries. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the room and bathroom were spotless. I would definitely come back and stay in the Marks!

We had the chance to have a suite at the last floor. In fact it was really a mezzanine upstairs with a living room and bathroom downstairs. Fantastic view with a glass wall from top to bottom. Wonderful breakfast, nice people, very clean, very well located in the shopping area. All this with un unbeatable price. can you ask more ?

I stayed for 6 days in this hotel and on a whole I was very happy with the hotel and service.The rooms were bright and airy with sliding doors which could be opened fully. The breakfast was extensive and tasty. I ate in the hotel restuarant twice and was happy on both occasions (they have some good deals). On a whole, the front desk staff were friendly […] and helpful (I had trouble with my laptop and the young man at the desk at night time went out of his way to recommend a computer shop who could fix it). Very easy access to the bus station, Glasgow Concert Hall, main shopping streets. There is no gym there but a gym only a few doors away has good deals on 1 or 3 day passes. Highly recommend!! The staff was pleasant and helpful, food in the restaurant was extremely good, location was very convenient for our purposes and the free WIFI wasa definite plus.

Arrived to a busy check in area but staff very polite, friendly and apologetic for delay in finding my online booking. Great standard of breakfast included which was made more enjoyable by the humour of the young man hosting it. Would definately return in the future.

A most enjoyable stay was had at the Marks Hotel in Glasgow - the welcome by all the staff was great - the hotel ticked all the boxes for us - disappointed that others don't share our feelings but can't please all of the people all of the time. I knew the location of the hotel but also read of previous reviews and wasn't disappointed. We arrived early and left our bag to come back later, so this gave us time to go and get some lunch and a bit of shopping (this stay was for my wife's birthday). The hotel is parallel with Sauchiehall Street, which leads you directly to the Buchanan Galleries, […] which is no more than 5 minutes away. If you walk in the opposite direction to the Galleries, at the top of Sauchiehall Street, you'll find an array of different food outlets and pubs - pretty much anything and everything to cover your pallet and budget! The hotel check in was effortless and once in room, was not disappointed with the level of finish and cleanliness - I've stayed in 5 star hotels before and this was right up there with them. When we went out for the evening, reception asked if there was anything they could help with and offered suggestions of local options for eating and drinking, which was greatly appreciated. Would we stay again ............ you better believe it and are looking to go back and take the kids this time! Les mer

We were completely satisfied with every aspect of the hotel. We particularly note the great and willing assistance of the hotel staff when we were haveing difficulty hiring a car. Also, the meals were excellent.

If you are a walker, this is definitely the hotel for you! It is a short walk to bus stations, railroad and underground trains and the delightful fashion district as well as nearby historical sites. My husband and I arrived by plane at the Glasgow Airport, took a bus to Buchanan Street in City Center. After a short walk we arrived at the hotel and were […] greeted by a friendly and helpful desk clerk named, Lorraine. Our room (1 Double, 2 Twins) was ample size for my husband and I as well as our 2 adult children. The bathroom was immaculate. The beds were a little hard, but nothing that prevented us from getting a good night's sleep. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends. We had such a good experience during this stay that we returned after a 5 day side trip to London. This time our room was located in the front and we had to close the windows at night to sleep because it was too noisy to have the windows open. If I was visiting during the warmer months I would make sure that they had air conditioning because you cannot sleep with the street noise. Breakfast was included and one had a choice of either a hot buffet (scrambled eggs, tomatoes, sausage, etc) or Continental breakfast (yogurt, fruit, cereal, croissants, etc). Les mer
