Stedet har alt egentlig, men litt tungvint at bassenget og det meste av restaurant utvalget ikke er på området til hotellet.. Kommer heller ikke unna hønene på stedet( hele øya for den saks skyld), men her var det ekstremt siden det er bungalower som er ganske åpne... Ta med deg øre propper og godt sove hjerte for de holder på fra 4 om morningen!!!! […] Stranden er veldig bra og det er utleie (strand tilbehør) på hotellet... We lucked out on a pristine, roomy oceanfront room where you could hear the waves all night. It's worth the splurge if you can find a deal. The grounds are beautiful here and it's a great place to take kids--ours met all kinds of buddies on the beach and there are copious toys and boogie boards etc for them to use. We had a wonderful stay. The location was fantastic, close to all the local shops and restaurants and right on the beach. We had an ocean view which was lovely however all the gardens are beautiful. Would definately stay again.

Okay, I was on a budget, I booked at Kiahuna as the prices were good. The hotel is between the Marriott and the Sheraton in the sunny Poipu area. The grounds are beautiful. There are two sides of the condo's owned by two companies. Outrigger (better) and Castle (where we were). You can't tell the difference between them and may not even know which building […] belongs to whom. Things to know: 1. The garden rooms and garden plus/deluxe rooms are located on a very busy and loud street. In Kauai, the doors and windows are slats. You can hear cars driving by all day and night. It is loud. If you pay for an ocean room, this is not an issue. We ended up moving out of the bedroom and moving the mattress on top of the sofa bed and it was much better. 2. There is a pool... but it is across the street (you have to walk across the busy street or drive to get there), and it is not near the ocean, it's unheated and has no lights it closes at 6:00 PM. So no night time jacuzzi (bummer). We never used the pool. 3. No gym. No exercise classes. No yoga. 4. No breakfast restaurant on property. Try Joe's on the Green, it is great. 5. It is only a short 3-5 minute walk to the ocean from most rooms. 6. The beach is amazing and you can swim there in the winter months. 7. The hotel office/reception staff is very rigid. The manager was more than rude when we complained about the street/traffic noise and said 1000's of people stay there and don't complain and that we should have done better research prior to selecting our room. They did end up upgrading us one level but the entire situation was very stressful and they almost charged me. 8. They didn't seem to like that we booked through hotels.com or as they called them "a third party". 9. The dinner restaurant on site is (Plantation Gardens) AMAZING! Make a reservation. 10. Brennecke's restaurant is really good, so is Keoki's. We sat in the bar and found the food yummy and very affordable. You can order off the lunch menu all day in that area. Les mer

1st time visit to Kauai, 1st time staying at Kiahuna Plantation. Location was great - the Poipu area has lots of local shops and restaurants, and it's a nice, dry area! We stayed in bldg 41 room 428 - 1 bedroom. The building is one of the farthest from the shoreline, but easily walkable. The beach was nice, with a south swell (June). This is a very large resort and we couldn't have been further from the beach. If you have a garden view room, don't plan on having a cup of coffee on the beach until after 8:30 a.m. when they unlock the beach chairs. They also go around collecting these chairs and locking them up at 6 p.m. The pool is located across the street and closes as 6 p.m. The […] condo layout has your bedroom window on the walkway leading to other units and the only source of air is through open louvres which open out to the walkway (who designed this layout?). The louvres provide adequate ventilation throughout the unit in the absence of air conditioning so they must be left open. I didn't see a gym and was disappointed they do not offer any beach front exercise activities like so many other resorts. On another note the unit was comfortable and the kitchen was adequately stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal and the grounds had numerous gas grills on site conveniently located - and there is a wonderful seafood market nearby. The suites and facilities at the Kiahuna are not as luxuries as some of the big name facilities on the island, but the place is just so homey and comfortable. The restaurants at the site are very good and it is located very close to other top quality restaurants as well as many of the activities on the south side of the island. Nice beach, great sprawling lawns, old growth foliage, room to stride, interesting setup, Plantation House serves great food. This place is a highend facelift away from being untouchable, so enjoy while you can. Beds and bedding are baaaaaaad. Can't wait to go back in 2012!

The resort is a collection of about 300 one and two bedroom condos spread across a few dozen gorgeous plantation acres on the Kiahuna Beach in Poipu. The condos are all individually owned and so mileage appears to vary greatly based on how recent renovations might have been completed. The building we were in had eight condos on two floors. We had a […] ground floor end unit and it was recently upgraded with a stone kitchen counter. There is no air conditioning as all the units depend on generous (especially in the end units) louvered windows and a large sliding doors arrangement that opens to the lanai. Our unit was comfortable at all times of day and we enjoy the natural ventilation. This does come with a downside and that is access to the sounds outside the unit. There was excessive groundskeeping noise (e.g., leaf blowers) and loud neighbors could also be a problem. The transmission of noise from the condo above us was often loud too. Having said that the whole place was quiet at night every night. There are barbecues scattered around the grounds and they were always available even when it was very busy. The restaurants associated with the resort are all excellent and there are several more in the small plaza across the road that are also very strong. It only takes 25 minutes to get to the resort from the airport in Lihue. The beach has a shorebreak that can be tough so you need to watch the kids, but ours loved playing in the surf with the turtles and seeing the Monk Seals sleeping right on our beach. Overall, terrific place - we'd return but it isn't without its little peculiarities. Les mer

got to see the south and west of the kauai island without high costs close to food and shops dinner at casa blanca excelled breakfast at joes on the green a must enjoy the tropical paradise if your a hotel addict this is not for you definately but the apartment type living was fully appreciated by myself thanks hotels.com for helping me afford this

The location & grounds are wonderful. The mattress in the bedroom was great. Our only complaint was the fold out bed in the living area. Promoted as being able to sleep 4 adults is a gross overstatement. Our 19 year old son had to pull the mattress onto the floor and stuff the cushions underneath every night. The springs were popping up in the mattress […] and the bars from the frame were poking through making it impossible to sleep on. We mentioned it to the office the second day and they were going to put us on a list for a blow up or futon. Never saw it. The maid service was a little erratic as well. Didn't get a change of towels the first 4 days, but had a change twice in the last 3 days. Les mer

I was disappointed with this condo this time around. We had stayed here last year and it was great - they gave us a free upgrade to an ocean-view condo and we really liked staying here as it is at a great location with the beach right there, it's quiet and the grounds/gardens are beautiful. This year we booked a 'partial ocean view' condo and that's […] what it was, I suppose, but the rest of the view was basically the parking lot. Since it was on the ground floor you could not really see the ocean all that much. So, I feel like I should have just booked a garden view room which is cheaper and it would've had a better view. The thing that bothered me the most, however, was that the condo seemed as if it had not been recently cleaned when we got there - it was kind of dirty to be honest. We were booked for 3 nights and when we checked in they told us there was no housekeeping which would've been ok if the place was clean to begin with. When we stayed for a week last year they gave us new towels each day and tidied up the condo twice. So, I don't understand why we got no new towels or any cleaning for a 3-day stay. Additionally, the bed and pillows were really uncomfortable and it was hard to sleep with sprinklers going off at 5am (which made no sense since there was torrential rain during the night). There is no A/C so the windows had to be kept open which is why this was so bothersome. I don't recall this issue at all in the condo we had last year so be aware that the condos are apparently all different. Lastly, the sliding doors had screen doors that were not secured in any way to the sides so it was useless for keeping out bugs and moths. Les mer

We spent 10 days in this wonderful place! We have a 2 year old and a 5 month old, and it was just the perfect place for them. If you have little ones, request a downstairs as stairs and strollers don't mix well, and most of the downstairs open up onto the amazing lawn. My daughter's favorite thing was to go run outside. We would either sit on the lanai […] and watch her, or more commonly go run with her and all the other happy families (bigger kids played bocce and frisbee out here). The pool was also amazing for her, with the sandy beach side that didn't get deeper than her waist (there was also the regular pool side with a water slide and waterfalls--it was great pool!). The grounds are absolutely amazing--plumeria, hybiscus, trees!--, and the design of the buildings is very "Hawaiian" in that they allow great cross breezes and were defiantly not the overdone resorts next to us. I was impressed with the maintenance. We stayed in 3 rooms (they were being accommodating to try to keep us in a downstairs room) and while some were definitely nicer than others, they were all satisfactory. Great kitchens and BBQs. My only and biggest complaint is the pool hours are 8am-6pm! Other than that, It was amazing. I didn't have a car (husband was working) and could walk to Starbucks, the pool, and the baby beach. Great location! (By the way, if you're contemplating this for a romantic get away, I'm sure it's great for that too. There's only usually 8 rooms per building and lots and lots of space in between so you don't hear kids all the time. I only heard my own kids :)). Les mer

The hotel boasts Internet service. We rebooted the cable modem in the room and rebooted our computer before calling the 24-hour Help Desk. We called twice (one hour apart), both times we received an answering machine. We left two messages and never received a return call and were never able to access the Internet. We are not computer geeks, but we do […] travel often and have been able to connect to the Internet all over the world - except at the Castle Plantation. To top it all off - they charged us $0.99 for each call we made to the Help Desk. $0.99 is the regular charge for a local call. They refused to reverse those charges - that just made it all the worse. They do not understand the concept of Customer Service here! Les mer

Many items you need to know about so read it all. We reserved a 'garden view' room hoping to be upgraded upon arriving and telling them it was our honeymoon. No such luck. The first room we received (412, i belive) had dirty carpet and a musty smell too it. That plus our 'garden view' was of a giant tree right off the patio so close we could grab the […] leaves and see nothing. Asked for another room and was given #448 on the second floor. Again, there was no 'garden view' but just a higher view of this tree. It was cleaner and well maintained. The 400-building is not part of the main yard but across the road in the back and no where near the ocean. The pool is not convenient at all as it is across the street. This is not a full service hotel. If you want maid service you must pay an additional $20 per day. I could not even get another pack of coffee, it cost me $1 (not that the price is a lot, just the principle). They charge for extra coffee but deliver a free paper each day. I am on vacation, I don't want a paper I want my coffee. The front desk, while attentive, was not overly nice or pleasant. Veda (yes, I name names) seemed rather bothered by my questions and requests. On the postive side the place is right next to the Marriot which has a great pool. The place is right on a specatular ocean and Poipu (Koala town) are quant and nice compared to the touristy Waimea area. You can get to Waimea or Port Allen in the other direction quickly. Les mer

My new wife and I spent part of our honeymoon at the Kiahuna Plantation and we could not have been happier with the accomodations. The overall facility is great - beautiful, with a limited number of rooms on or near the beach. We happened to get one of the worst rooms - had to walk 10 minutes to get to the beach. My husband and I stayed in one of the condos for a few days of our honeymoon. We were surprised to find out that there are no windows...just screens covered by shutters. We could hear the birds but we could also hear the screaming baby in the condo next to us. We loved having the kitchen and the owners stocked the closet with nice beach extras. The […] beach was decent. The resort does not have lounge chairs for the beach...you only get straight chairs and you have to rent the umbrella. Hotellet ligger i Poipu med 2-3 minuters promenad till den fina stranden (om man inte bokar en lägenhet med havsutsikt förstås). Nära ett litet köpcentrum med butiker och restauranger förutom de restauranger som ligger på hotellområdet. Mycket bra utgångspunkt för att utforska Kauai. Skaffa hyrbil! En helikoptertur över ön är absolut värd pengarna.

hotelanlage liegt in einen wunderschönen angelegten und gepflegten garten. appartements sind geräumig mit grossen balkon - es ist alles vorhanden aber schon alt, möbel wirken teilweise schon abgewohnt technische geräte etwa 15 bis 20 jahre alt - das geht auch auf hawaii besser zb in maui. leider hatten wir ein zimmer unter dem dach und nur einen deckenventilator […] keine klimaanlage - irgendwie für amerikanische verhältnisse nicht mehr zeitgemäss, es war stickig warm in allen räumen dies war auch die einzigste hotelanlage auf hawaii wo man den zimmrservice extra bestellen und bezahlen musste ist irgendwie bei diesem zimmerpreis nicht gerechtfertigt. ansonsten ist es nicht weit zu fuss durch die wunderschöne gartenanlage zum sandstrand bzw zu shoppingmall und diversen restaurants internet gibts gratis im zimmer aber eine totale katastrophe man kann nicht mal emails schreiben ohne dass,das netz zusammenbricht. es gibt auch ein restaurant im hotel was man aber selten abends nutzen kann da immer für hochzeiten ausgebucht. auf grund der wunderschönen gartenanlage haben wir über einige mängel hinweggeschaut- aber ich denke es gibt bessere anlagen in poipu beach Les mer
