Novotel London ExCeL - London

Et flott hotell som ligger litt unna sentrum av London. Vi brukte ca 45 minutter fra hotellet til vi sto i Oxford Street. Rolig område - selv om vi hørte flyene tok av fra London City flyplass.

Overhodet ingen ting å utsette på dette hotellet. Generelt meget god standard - fortjener stjernene. Meget bra restaurant (merkelig nok bedre en på Novotel Tower bridge). Enkel reise inn til London med DLR like ved. Rolig område.

Veldig flott hotell, god service, god frokost, kort veg til undergrunnsbanen,sjarmerende vakkert ved Victoria Docks.

Vi valgte dette hotellet fordi det var adskillig rimeligere enn andre midt i sentrum. Det angrer vi ikke på. En litt lengre reise inn til sentrum oppveies delvis av den korte avstanden til stasjonen, men da vi skulle reise derfra (lørdag), var toglinja ute av drift pga. vedlikehold og den erstattende busstjenesten var direkte dårlig i forhold. Omådet […] rundt er pent og rolig, noen restauranter/pubber (litt dyre?) og en nærbutikk, men litt lite liv. Ellers er det et fint og moderne hotell, god frokost og hyggelig betjening. Den beste hotelldusjen jeg har prøvd. Fra Gatwick var det veldig greit å ta vanlig tog (ikke Express) til Tower Bridge og undergrunnen bort til der man veksler til DLR-lokaltoget. Les mer

Vi bodde 2 voksne og 2 barn i 2 døgn, og var godt fornøyd med oppholdet. Et stort rom med plass til alle 4 og en ok pris gjorde at vi valgte Novotel, til tross for at det tar 20 min til sentrum. DLR var dog meget praktisk. Veldig god middag i restauranten ankomstdagen, med en glimrende barnemeny. Frokosten var også bra, og service generelt veldig god. […] Anbefales for barnefamilier i ferien dersom man ikke har problemer med å bo litt utenfor "the beaten track". Avstanden til sentrum gjør at jeg tror det ville være slitsomt å bo her over lengre tid, men 2 -4 dager bør gå greit så lenge man er innstilt på det. Vi tok også fergen på Themsen en dag, og det var en fin opplevelse. Les mer

Vi overnattet 4 netter på Novotel. Vår største overraskelse var egentlig ankomstdagen. Vi landet på Heatrow og skulle bare ta Taxi de 20 minuttene til hotellet. (det stod i vår bekreftelse at det var 20 minutter til hotellet) Da vi kom til taxiene, spurte vi heldigvis om pris, som var 100 pund - som vi mente var for dyrt. Valgte derfor undergrunnen, […] som da brukte ca. 1,5 time til hotellet. Håper de endrer dette i infoen sin, slik at fremtidige gjester ikke føler seg "lurt". Selve hotellet er helt topp, god service fine rom rent og pent over det hele. Vi brukte ca 20 minutter til de fleste attraksjonene i sentrum via t-banen. Dette hotellet ligger 20 minutters tur ut av London City med bane, og for oss var det veldig deilig, å komme ut hit etter en "stressende" dag i sentrum. Det ligger noen restauranter vegg i vegg med hotellet, slik at det er mulig for en rolig middag her ute hvis man ønsker det. Rommet var pent og rent, og hyggelig hotellpersonale. Vil fremheve frokosten […] spesielt. Den var meget bra! Les mer

Glade for oppholdet , har du barn som er glade for fly, er dette rette plass. Fly letter og lander ofte rett på utsiden. Ikke noe problem når du er inne. Fine omgivelser, tog veldig nær. Hektisk morgen buffet, der var mange når vi var der. Ofte manglet der mat, veske, men det kom rimeligt fort. Har du ikke travelt gjør det intet. Fornøyd!

I went here on a minibreak with my little sister for a shopping vacation. This is the best hotel experience I have ever had. Exellent service, beautiful hotel, beautiful place. The breakfast buffe is to die for. Free internet in the lobby. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room cleaning flawless. Althoug it is roughly 25 min from the city senter, […] when you understand the underground system its not that big a deal. Its absolutely worth it. The room we had with queensize bed was nice with beautiful bathroom with shower and bathtub. And i quite liked that the lavatory was in a seperate room... Vi hadde et hyggelig opphold 5 netter i juli. Rommet var rent og pent, sengene gode, det var fin utsikt og hyggelig personale. Alt lå vel til rette for en fin familieferie i London. Det var kort vei til banen, luftige omgivelser nær docken med flere restauranter nær hotellet. Used hotel for satnight before London marathon. Was on the doorstep of the Exel which was ideal for registering.... Not too far then to travel to Blackheath. Staff sunday morning very helpful ordering taxi and arranging for us to leave our luggage to pick up later.... Very enjoyable stay. Next time would book the sunday night also

Beds not very comfortable and could do with better quality pillows and additional pillows.

This hotel will be great if you are only in London for the Docklands Excel centre for conference. The room is decent size and quite comfortable. restaurant downstairs has good food and good service. If you want to do laundry in a coin laundrette there is one about 5 minutes walk away which is great. a few not so good points: Wifi is not free. Carrying […] you own luggage ( i would expect a 4 star hotel should be helping with your luggage) location: docklands is really quite far from everywhere else and quite boring - you have to catch dockland light rail (DLR) and then change into the tube before you get into anywhere fun - and DLR are not as frequent as tube transport to Heathrow - it is at the other end of town - with the only means of getting to Heathrow either taxi or different combinations of DLR/underground lines. It takes just over 90 minutes even on a good day. It took me 2 hours when one of the underground had trouble. and not all London underground has lifts/escalator access so all the luggage carrying can be very tiring and potentially add another 30 minutes to the journey to the airport. For a family break at the weekend, the hotel was excellent and value for money. provided a great base and in a quite area. Just put more tea/coffee faclities out when you know a family is staying

Lovely Hotel, gorgeous breakfast. Just one small point, the toilet is totally seperate from the bathroom and has no sink. As i was staying with a work colleague it did make it awkward to wash hands when she was in the bathroom. There was a shower in the bath as well as a stand alone shower so possibly room for this matter to be addressed. Had I been […] travelling with my husband this would'nt have been an issue. We stayed at the Novotel on vacation with two small kids. We had a great overall visit, but there were a few things lacking from what was advertised. Their website boasts a 'Play Area' and 'Welcome Gift' for children. The play area was just a spot along the wall about 4 ft by 6 ft with an X Box and some grimy building blocks. We didn't recieve any type […] of 'Welcome Gift' and the staff while friendly enough, were not very helpful. The XBox wasn't working and they didn't know how to operate it and when asked about local resturants could give only vague details. That all sounds like a turn off, but we really did enjoy our stay. The lobby, resturant, bar, and lounge were all very nicely decorated and inviting. The room was small as expected, but plenty for what we needed. The view of the harbor is interesting and proximity to the trains was reasonable. Check it out! Les mer

We had a nice stay at the Novotel London ExCeL. Quiet surroundings and ok standard. Close the the O2 arena, not nearby London centre, but if you don't mind using the train og the tube, is a very good alternative.The breakfast was a bit overpriced. The hotel was very family friendly and free access to internet and Wii, was a pleasent surprice. Easy access […] to the hotel by DHL train, and the fast track underground ( use the Jubilee line ). We enjoyed our stay at the novotel excel. The staff were very helpful and friendly and rooms were of a good standard and plenty of room for us and our young daughter.We Would use this hotel again

Not horrible, but not that good. The room had not been cleaned well at all. There was this thing on the carpet, not sure if it was dirt or ___ or what. The bathroom was only set up for one person even though it was a reservation for two, so we had to go get more towels. The location is really out of the way, unless you have some need to be out by the […] Excel Center. Also, we stayed a couple of nights and wanted to check out just one hour late, and they refused to accommodate us. When we got down to check-out, the place was empty - so I'm not sure what the extreme need was for our room?! Pretty awful customer service!! Les mer

Our money was really worth it. I recommend this to our fellow Filipinos who would want to just relax and have an enjoyable stay in London.

Great hotel, great staff, excellent room, wonderful food. Near (just 5 minuts walking) the DRL station. The area are very secure, modern and pleasant. I recommend this hotel for every future guest!

Really great stay. Easy access to train in to London centre. Amazing Chinese restaurant next door. Lovely walk to city airport. I stayed with my 5 year old son and everything was very smooth. A BIG THANK YOU.

Just a couple of things stopped this hotel from being perfect. The bathroom was the main issue,with no wash basin in the seperate toilet which was very small. I would preder to wash my hands straight away, rather than have to walk through the bedroom. Also we only had one large bath sheet between the two of us and there were no hooks in the bathroom […] to hang clothes on while you were in the shower. On the plus side it was cleasn and comfy and the breakfast was delicious. Very convenient for the 02 as well. Les mer

My Son and I only stayed for 1 night whilst attending a concert @ the O2. From the hotel website it was advised the closest tube stations were Canning Town or Custom House. We got off at Canning Town but didn't realise you had to get a bus to Canning Town so walked. Was quite a distance. Whwn we got to the hotel we found the staff to be very helpful, […] and they gave my son a welcome gift. The sofa bed had been made up and the room was clean and tidy. Clean, quiet and comfortable hotel with friendly staff. Our superior room had some nice features but was pretty tight in terms of space. Breakfast had a good selection of food that was pretty averge in terms of taste, warm milk rather than cold for cereal, seriously bitter coffee. However location worked perfectly for us and if you are at Excel or O2 […] it is great value and perfectly located and I will certainly return. Les mer

Fantastic Hotel in East London and we were a young couple, definitely value for money for a London hotel. Breakfast was brilliant too. If you're going to watch a theatre show or want to go to West London in the evening it takes just under an hour on the underground. This was one of the only drawbacks but with the changeovers it felt a lot quicker. We arried at the hotel and found it to be of a good quality standard, the room was clean and well presented although a little crampted. The breakfast was excellent. Would definately stay again when I return to London.

Stayed in this Hotel over a 5 day short City break. It exceeded all of our expectations. Excellent value for money and all staff were helpful, professional and friendly. Only constructive criticism would be to place bio- soap/gel dispensers in WC room as there is no sink to wash hands after using toilet. First time I'd stayed in Docklands, and on this experience would be happy to do so again. Some may find its distance from the West End an inconvenience, but you'd struggle to find equivalent standards at the same price closer to the centre of town. There are though two DLR stations just a few minutes walk away which offer a variety of connections, particularly […] as a new extension to Stratford has just opened. You probably need to allow around 40/45 mins to reach the West End. The City is more like 20/25 mins, and of course for business travellers needing to reach Canary Wharf, its just a short hop.(Incidentally, despite what the hotel website says, I thought Custom House was a little closer than Royal Victoria. However Custom House involves negotiating a number of steps - something to bear in mind if you have much luggage.) It's also a quieter and less frenetic location than the centre. You will get aircraft noise from nearby London City Airport, but I didn't find that a major problem. You also get more square feet per £ in your room than you would at most centrally located hotels. Mine was spacious and scrupulously clean with the option of both bath and (good) shower, with a separate WC. Main bed reasonably comfortable, sofa bed seemed a bit soft. Reasonable selection of in-room TV channels. Above average choice of teas and coffee! A safety deposit box was available. Had dinner in restaurant first night, two course set menu of some soup and fish was tasty and good value. Also had buffet breakfast each morning. This too was of a good standard. The restaurant overlooks the river so has pleasant views, there is also a terrace which can be used in good weather - unfortunately it was rather chilly during my stay - also by smokers presumably. Restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and offered prompt service. There are Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Caribbean restaurants within walking distance for those seeking alternatives. Nice modern hotel., in what was (during my stay at least) a pleasantly quiet area of docklands. Next door to the Excel center, and close to DLR station, but not much else nearby. Rooms are a bit cramped, and the separate loo is a bit unusual these days. Staff were friendly and helpful. Biggest surprise was the restaurant. We arrived on an early flight to London after making our way to the hotel the check in time was 2pm so we left our bags there and headed back into London. The hotel is nice, bright and child friendly...there is an xbox in the main reception hall tucked nicely out you main walk way. The room was nice, we had a family room a queen bed and a pull out couch […] for the kids, there was a safe, minifridge an iron and ironing board.The toilet was seprate to the wash area which was good if you need to go...but you had to wait to wash your hands if someone was in the shower. I had not booked breakfast but they had a special if you booked at reception the day before you could get breakfast at a special rate, we took up this offer and had a lovely buffet breakfast. The food in the bar area was lovely and good value. I found the staff were friendly and helpful. My only dislike about the hotel is that it is far out on the DLR...but if you have plenty of time on your hands and dont mind the traveling this is a nice hotel. Les mer

We planned a fmily trip to London to see the sights and this hotel was great for families. On arrival reception staff were very helpful, the room was great, especially as we had a room with the view of the docks and my son watched out of the window counting the planes flying from city airport. Dont be put of by the thought of planes flying past, the […] breakfast was great loads of variety. Location was a walk away from custom house dlr and easy to get into the city. Les mer

Family of four, one night stay to catch a (relatively) early flight from City Airport the next morning. So Novotel was relatively convenient for this although the cab arranged by reception was a little pricey at £15.00. DLR would have been just £10 for all 4 of us and the DLR station (Royal Victoria) is just a five minute walk away. Which was good for […] our theatre excursion that evening. The surrounding area is a little sterile - business blocks, other hotels and appartment blocks with a few late night convenience stores. But you do have the DLR to get you into the heart of London in under half an hour. The normal room rates shown in reception are obnoxiously high for what you get - despite the four star rating. The rooms are small but well appointed, clean and spruce. Breakfast is great - excellent choice and lots of it even if the unsmoked bacon is a little tasteless. Again it's very pricey. We got an advance internet price at about a quarter the advertised rate in reception AND this included breakfast. This is where it becomes great value, especially in London. Les mer
