Blue Ocean Resort & Spa - Kathu

Vi hadde et oppgradert rom som nylig var renovert. Rommet var stort, rent og komfortabelt. Dessverre ligger hotellet i nærheten av elv, som til tider kunne luktet bedre. Frokosten var middels. SPA avdelingen var bra. Good value for money at the end of the day!

Hotellet er helt greit! Navnet derimot er helt feil. Hvis du ser for deg utsikt av blått hav fra balkongen blir du skuffet. En kloakklignende bekk (som heller ikke lukter særlig inntakende) var utsikten fra vårt rom. Når det er sagt var selve balkongen grei, hotellets personale var hyggelig og det var rent og ordentlig både på rommet og ellers greit […] på hotellet. En spasertur på mindre enn ti minutter til starnden er heller ikke noe å si på. Alt i alt - greit hotell uten noen som helst utsikt til havet. Les mer

Centralt hotell i Patong, men hade absolut väntat ett bättre hotell då det är 4 stjärnor. Väldigt liten pool med lite sol, som ligger på baksidan av hotellet som gränsar mot en stinkande grönslemmig å. Du har i tillägg flott utsikt mot plåtskjulen på andra sidan ån där burmerserna bor. Stayed 4 nights in Deluxe room with pool view in January 2012. Upon checking in, I pointed out that the room was not as described on hotels.com, as the bathroom lacked a tub (supposed to be present in all rooms). The young receptionist seemed helpful but she was quickly subdued by the senior receptionist who assured me that the room was nice, and that […] was that. Veldig behagelig hotell, kort avstand til stranda og shopping. Et lite stykke å gå til Bangala Road, men ingen kjedelig vei... Utrolig god service på hotellet og rommet var stort, rent og flott. Fint bassengområde og god frokost. Kommer til å bo her igjen ved senere anledninger.

the hotel is just 15min walk away from the bustling area of bangla road which is the hub of patong..the rooms were neat, clean and modern..not only staff but i found everybody in phuket were friendly..didn had the chance to get a spa done but just had a look at the spa room..it looked really nice..i hope even the service is good..they served us english, […] indian and thai breakfast..all of them were tasty..there is nothing more tat u wud have to ask for..i wud definitely recommend tis hotel and wud like to come back if i got a chance to visit phuket again.. Against advice, we decided to stay in Phuket, a very tourist-filled, young, loud, night-life scene. However, after a very "rustic" stay several days prior, we were more than happy w/ accommodations here. We arrived late in the evening & were warmly greeted w/ handed shirley temples (great first impression). Our room for 3 people had a poolside view […] & was very spacious, clean & modern, w/ a huge bathroom easily fitting all 3 at once (major plus). The hotel is set inward from the main road, so it was nice we couldn't hear the noise of the street, which is good because I am a super light sleeper. The street has several street vendors & restaurants to choose from. Massages were 50% off, which was maybe 200 baht more than the street stores (about 5-10 on the same street within 5 min walking distance), & if still 50% off, def go w/ the hotel because it is infinitely better in experience & quality. Breakfast was included in our stay & was a good selection of Western & Asian mixes. By the second day however, we were a bit sick of it, but nothing is really open, so you are best sticking to this before you head out for the day. The beach is about a 10 min walk, but very crowded & touristy, best to lounge at the hotel or go to a more northern quiet beach if you don't include any excursions on your trip. I would give this place a 4.5 star & would highly recommend IF you have to stay in Patong. If you don't enjoy loud-nightlife, you might want to stay at a different location. Les mer

The hotel is far from the main attractions such as Bangla road and the beach. Transportation is difficult to get in the area because none of the tuk tuk drivers will bargain down the price and cabs don't care about bargaining either. They know your stuck without them. The hotel was falling apart. The walls in the hallways had big holes that had been […] bolted with ply wood. The room smelled of mould and well goop! Room didn't get cleaned till I had to phone reception at 4pm the next day. The hotel deal said free minibar but then they charge you for stuff because they failed to clearly identify that it's not free only water and chips were free haha! Everything else is thrown in the mix so u consume it and then they bring out this secret bill that says well only a couple items were free. I wouldn't recommend this hotel based on location and cleanliness! Les mer

Hotel not too badly located but there is something off about it. There are lots of mosquitos and one night there was no hot water. The staff was ok friendly but couldnt speak much english. It does not look like their photos so be prepared! Breakfast was good.

I stayed here for 10 days, and was very happy with the hotel and it's location. It is about a 15 minute walk to Patong Beach or to Bangla Road. Also has numerous things around the hotel that are helpful (legitimate massage parlor, pharmacy, laundry services, barber shop, etc. The hotel itself was great. Recommaned a room with pool access directly from […] your balcony. The pool closes kinda early (1900 supposedly), but you normally saw people in it after that. I think as long as you aren't having a huge pool party in the middle of the night, they are pretty accomodating in that regards. Cleanliness and design of the room was excellent. I picked this hotel to stay for 2 nights after I finished a liveaboard scuba diving trip. The rooms were large and very modern and updated with some latest technology. All the lights could be controlled by a panel right next to the bed so you don't have to get up to turn them off. Balcony in each room to dry off swimsuits. The hotel is off the main […] area so it's nice and quiet. There's convenience stores and restaurants nearby. It's a very short walk (just a couple blocks) to get to Patong Beach. The hotel had very friendly staff who spoke English. When I was leaving the hotel and it was starting to rain - the car attendant at the hotel gave me an umbrella to use while I was away - so I didn't have to go all the way up back to my room! Nothing overly impressive. Problems with the water system mean I had no temperature control. Wifi only took about 1 hour to send an email!

After spending a couple nights in Thailand that lacked some of the cleanliness of hotels that I am used to, our arrival at the Blue Ocean Resort was a real treat! The staff was kind (though their English was not quite on par with other hotels in the country), the perks (free snacks and drink in the room, great breakfast, coupons for nearby businesses) […] were many, and the pool was beautiful and a wonderful break from the busy beaches with people constantly trying to sell you things. This was actually the best hotel I've stayed at in a very long time. The downside though is the area itself. Patong Beach is a very popular destination but we found the area off-putting. Its very hard to get around due to astronomical taxi fares on Phuket, you are constantly harassed to buy things, and there are plenty of shady customers working the streets around the nightlife who are more than happy to trick you out of your money. A much more pleasant stay can be found on the nearby Ko Phi Phi island. The beaches are better there too. But if you must go to Patong Beach, the Blue Ocean Resort is the best part about it. :-) Les mer

Pool access room was AMAZING! Staff at reception and throughout the hotel were beyond helpful and friendly. The variety at breakfast was average but delicious. Hotel overall was a pleasure, very quiet and relaxing. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Patong! 100% satisfied!

A must stay hotel in phuket. All i can say is AWESOME..... Me and my wife enjoy our stay. The room is the most we enjoy a big room and a pool access wonderful. Cant wait to go back to Blue Ocean Resort... I highly recommend this hotel for couple.... Thanks

The hotel didn't look like much from the street, but as soon as you walk up the stairs you realize it is a very nice hotel. The pool area is VERY nice, and very pleasing to the eye as well. The staff wasn't too bad, all questions I had seemed to get referred to the same woman, which was fine, but I think if she wasn't there they may have been clueless. My […] only issue was that the WiFi service doesn't work in the rooms. I was on the 5th floor, and couldn't even log into to it on my laptop, or phone. I called the front desk however, and they brought me a LAN cable to connect to the wall. So it really wasn't an issue but is something I would have liked to know to expect in advance. throughout my 4 days stay, i had no hot water for shower. And for 4 whole days, it was noy rectified. Upon askin for late check out, even willing to have a normal room instead of my pool access room, my request was flatly turned down. NO SERVICE recovery. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Booked 4 nights. Upon arrival staff were dis-organised and not very welcoming, our room had a musty odour which I could live with, nice flat screen TV. Upon the 2nd night of our stay we came home late and the night staff asked my wife (who is thai) if I was 'her customer' in thai or if we had checked in together. My wife was very upset by this and she […] spent the next 30 minutes in tears which obviously ruined the evening if not the entire stay. On the 3rd night there was no hot water and after calling reception I was told it would be fixed within 30 minutes. In fact we had no hot water for the remainder of our stay and further complaints fell on deaf ears. Not nice having to take cold showers. Upon checking out I kicked up a fuss and the reception staff phoned the manager at home and I was able to speak to him. He was very apologetic and was not informed that the hotel had not had any hot water for the past 3 days! He agreed that the night staff that questioned my wife had done so in an unacceptable manner and offered me a free spa or food, in the end we agreed that they would not charge me for the 900 baht laundry charges. 3 star hotel at best, staff need more customer orientated training. For the price offered, it was of reasonable standard. The small but very nice gesture was free use of minibar which came with some soft drinks and nuts and chocolate. Comfortable and fairly good location, convenient to walk to most destinations in Patong.

Great value for money, pool access rooms are great. I read complaints about the smell from the channel next door but it didn't worry us at all, there were far worse smells in the streets. The hotel staff were great, several of our group got sick and we went to reception who organised a doctor to the hotel within 20 minutes. Close enough to walk to everything […] or a tuk tuk out front to take you anywhere in Patong for 22 Baht (less than $6). Buffet breakfast was good. I will be staying there next time I'm in Patong. Hotel in good condition, rooms clean and spacious, however view was awful, stayed in a deluxe room right in a corner looking at a wall. Staff were not courteous at all and had no interest in saying hello or even looking at you as you came and went from the hotel. Daily housekeeping was fantastic and valuebles always kept safe.

Good hotel - stayed there three times, during my trips around Southeast Asia. Besides a few leaking spots on the 7th floor, the hotel is well kept, affordable and convenient. I will defintely stay there again!

When I'm in a hotel, two things are most important to me, one is how clean the place is and 2 is the customer service. The room itself was very clean and tidied, but if they swept the floor as well that would be better. Some staff were more friendlier and helpful than others, but overall it was fine. The gym/fitness station advertised is a little dissapointing as it was just placed randomly on a floor where people can see you working out. The free breakfast was amazing. The guards remembered my face and becamr protective of me when i went out at night, this made me feel at home. The hotel was a short walk to the beach and taxis so it was very convenient. This place is best for couples, as a solo traveller it was hard to meet new people - but that depends on what you are after. Les mer
